Jesus Calling: March 17

Come to Me for understanding, since I know you far better than you know yourself. I comprehend you in all your complexity; no detail of your life is hidden from Me. I view you through eyes of grace, so don't be afraid of My intimate awareness. Allow the light of My healing Presence to shine into the deepest recesses of your being--cleansing, healing, refreshing, and renewing you. Trust Me enough to fully accept the full forgiveness that I offer you continually. This great gift, which cost Me My Life, is yours for all eternity. Forgiveness is at the very core of My abiding Presence. I will never leave you or forsake you.
When no one else seems to understand you, simply draw closer to Me. Rejoice in the One who understands you completely and loves you perfectly. As I fill you with My Love, you become a reservoir of love, overflowing into the lives of other people.

Psalm 139:1-4
English Standard Version
O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22
English Standard Version
And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

Joshua 1:5
English Standard Version
No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you.

My Prayer
You know me better than I know Myself. That is a comfort and tells me I can trust You. You know everything about me. Nothing ever changes.
(3/17/18) Lord, the way in which you know me actually makes me nervous. I suppose I don't understand how you love me and accept me and why you chose me because I know me. I know my selfishness and I know how much I love it when I get things my way. But, Lord, because of this You remind me here Lord that if there is anyone I can run to in my life, it is You. For instance, Lord, right now I am struggling at work, as a manager of 10 people, there are several people that are just not getting along. It feels like a power struggle. They are different people with different personalities and Lord, it seems that every thing I try does not work out. I find myself asking the HR person, asking other managers I know, thinking a book will help -- perhaps those things will help, but today, reading this, it reminds me that I have not talked to You about it. And yet, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up. You discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. You know me. I see that now. Forgive me for now coming to you as a last resort. But, I know now you only want me to come to you. Lord, help me. I want your wisdom first. I want to be guided by You first. Lord, I do not know what to do, but You know me. You know the person I am and so I come to You. Direct my path and direct my words. I depend on You, Jesus.

  2. Thank you Chris for that prayer. Lately I've begun flirting with the same ole same ole fear of aging and being a burden to our children. I go to the familiar path & little by little I begin my approach of fear, mistrusting, pride, worry. All the nasties are clawing at me from the sidelines. Taking my eyes from the joy set before me. The joy of trusting Jesus! Lo and behold before I know it, before more damage is done 2 Timothy 1:12 rescues me. "I know whom I have believeth & am persuaded that He is able, to keep that which I've committed unto Him against that day!" Psalm 92:14, "in old age, they will still bear fruit, healthy & green they will remain!" Thank you Lord. Help me to keep my eyes on the goal set before and walk with you joyfully towards it!

  4. What a nice weekend this has been. Because I got out of myself a little on Friday to participate with part of our family at a birthday celebration (that I didn't think I wanted to attend), I got out of my routine. I still read the prayers and am privileged to be able to pray for my sisters and brothers in Christ. Yesterday, my husband wanted to go see "The Moses Controversy," & I had stubbornly said, "No, I need to get things done around our house." Well, our electricity went out - in the whole town! So, I changed my mind and went. We had a GREAT time and it spurred more God-Centered conversation. The weekend progressed with me not "worrying about what we'll eat, or drink or wear" (Jan, I've been having the SAME thoughts and worries about aging and not wanting to be a burden to our family). I read more from the last few days and saw Bob's comments about the best thing we can do for our children is to love our spouses. Humbling. I prayed for CeCe and her daughter and for Trusting in the Lord's & IA's sons. In other words, I got out of myself, my worries, my woes and gave. It was so refreshing and my time multiplied (thank you for your sound advice, Sassy Mom, "God will never give us a schedule so full that we don't have time to read His word."). So, today after fellowship, I decided to get on and thank each of you for your prayers, for the fellowship that takes place on this blog, for Peyton Family's honest prayers that apply, even years later. For Sarah's Jesus Calling, which always gets to the heart of whatever issue is threatening to steal my peace. We are blessed! And, I am thankful. Preparing for this next week; may it be as bright as the Promises of God! <3

  7. 3 a.m. As many here confess, my "smart" phone, bedside, is my Bible, prayer journal, and devo (flashlight, alarm clock, etc.). Amazing technological innovations of the past decade will probably, and hopefully, allow us to "safe distance", thus diminish, and then defeat the coronavirus pandemic of today. A dream of an imagined (or revelation) situation later in my life brought both comfort and sadness... plus, produced enough emotion to keep me awake. And as is normal now, to the JC readings and devo, I came for time with the Lord and all of you here.

And through the Psalmist, "You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar." I did not rise in fear of the pandemic, but in a mode of why am I awake and what will I learn from time in the Word. And, then the devo said it so well... He knows us, from the number of hairs on one's head, to our anxieties, to the inner embarrassing secrets. Yet, in His knowledge, is a real compassion for our human plight. He came as a man, to show His love for me and you, is one of empathy, having known our troubles as Jesus, not a distant God, but as one who lived and died among us.

With this "invisible enemy" as the President called the pandemic yesterday, is much fear. Yet, He knows our fear, and hears our prayers. He promises His peace. While there is much uncertainty ahead, it is clear that evil is sowing fear globally. Yet back to the Psalms there is God telling us that He is holding our hand. Psalm 23:4: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me." His message is clear as in wars, famines, and plagues of the past, He is with us. Praying for a miraculous defeat of covid-19, peace and Godspeed JC warriors.

    3. Wonderful encouragement for us a year later. Thank you, dear MadFox. He sure does know us more than we know ourselves. And His loving care never changes. I loved today's devotion. Especially:
"Allow the light of My healing Presence to shine into the deepest recesses of your being--cleansing, healing, refreshing, and renewing you." That really spoke to me. Yesterday I was trying to do too much and never seemed to find a time to rest with Him. But He was always at my side while I worked in the kitchen. I did get to read the Word after dinner and for that I was so grateful. Food for my soul, a lamp on my feet and a light on my path. I pray you are recovering and being healed by our loving Father. One step at a time in His presence and peace.

  11. Heavenly Father, today is Your day, and I want Your will to be done in it, so whatever happens, hold my hand and let's face it together. I thank You for the sky and sun, for both remind me of a new day’s challenge and a chance to seek You. Thank You for reminding me life is not always easy, but that I don’t have to carry the hard into each new day. I have You, so thank You.

Today, let us hold on to Psalm 91:

"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”

Our Father, we made it through the night and here today, so we say thank You. Please enlighten the eyes of our heart that we might see You, and notice how you're at work through our lives and in control of what’s going on today. We ask for wisdom and Your Spirit and power to breathe in us, through us, again, fresh and new. Thank You that You are greater than anything we may face in today or tomorrow and that we don’t have to understand. Thank You that Your presence goes with us, and that Your joy is never dependent on our circumstances or what is happening in the world, but it is our true and lasting strength, no matter what we're up against. We ask that Your peace lead us, may it guard our hearts and minds in You only. We ask for your grace to cover our lives this day. Thank You for loving us, we need you, and we trust You, In Jesus’ Name.

    Stay safe and remain blessed.

  13. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10)

(Matthew 10:9-15) Jesus continues His instruction to us before sending us out. He does not want us to overly equip ourselves for this mission. We must go forth trusting both the Spirit's lead and provision. This will help keep our focus on the message. He tells us we will be welcomed in some of the places we will be led. Where we are welcomed, we must be at peace with those who welcome us regardless of our differences. At other times, we will find ourselves not welcomed. In those cases, we must move on without taking anything from that location so we are not accused of taking advantage of the people there. We must leave and not harbor ill will within our souls toward them for it is God's to pass judgement on them. This is what we can expect as we go forth making a witness onto the Kingdom of heaven that is near.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, you and I are always on a mission to witness to the love of God 24/7. In these unprecedented times we are living, how is that mission unfolding for each of us? As we listen to Jesus instruction to his disciples in Matthew 10 (adhere to His words and take my interpretations for what they are worth), what is He saying to you and I as we travel the path we are led during these times? Though these are precarious times, our calling remains the same. While many are becoming frazzled by the fears that abound, you and I must stay focused on how the Spirit is leading us to witness to the love of God in who we are and what we do. God be with us as we go forth.

    With love, Bob

  20. God has a plan, we recognize it when we pray, 'Thy will be done.' God has created us to play a role in the fulfillment of the plan and God showed us how to play that role through coming and being with us through His Son. 'This is my beloved Son. Listen to Him." Listen means more than just hearing the words, it is a call to emulate Him in all we think, say, and do. God even went a step further by empowering us with the gift of the Holy Spirit, the same Spirit that filled the Son. The gift was given in our baptism, we lack nothing to fulfill God's will with the exception of a heart that so desires 'Thy will be done'. Let's look at Jesus to see what God wills for us.

In the very beginning, Jesus made it clear what His mission was when He was criticized for mingling with sinners. He answered, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick...I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.' (Matthew 9:12,13). Also, when asked to read in the worship service in the temple, He quoted Isaiah in saying, 'The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed Me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.' (Luke 4:18,19). This was God's will for Him. For God so loved the world that God entered into it to gather all God's children back unto Himself. This was Jesus role and this is our role in the plan, to impact the situations in which we find ourselves by speaking the word or acting in a way toward the 'spiritually sick' that begins the healing process in their souls. The gospel narratives show us how whatever situations Jesus was in, He made a positive impact by showing the love of God. This is our calling and by the power of the Holy Spirit, it can be whenever we want it to be. The more we take to heart, 'Thy will be done' and the more frequently we pray for it, the more we remain focused on our role thus fulfilling it.

"You are the light of the world...let your light so shine that people see your goodness and give glory to our Father in heaven."

    With love, Bob

    1. Amen dear Bob! I am His instrument of peace and love and joy and I do my best to lift and encourage my loved ones. I pray they see the Christ in me shining even through a phone call. The Spirit of the Lord guides me to say the words they need to hear. We are the bringers of the good news and we are not ashamed of our faith. It is our foundation and we stand on an immovable Rock. He is our refuge and strength and even our refreshment when we are weary. I will proclaim His good deeds forever. I pray those who are suffering will turn to Him for healing of physical, mental and emotional infirmities. He is the Greatest Physician. I am blessed to be broken and weary because He is my strength. He knows exactly how I feel and what I need. What a comfort that is to me. Let us continue to show the love of God to everyone He places on our path, and with the power of the Holy Spirit, lead others to Him. Amen! Let us shine His light to those in darkness and light their wilderness as He lights ours.

My niece, Julie, Jessie's sister and who had her first baby (1/15) just before Jessie's unexpected passing on 2/5, is STRUGGLING. Julie is a daily reader of her JC book and a believer. She knows God has a plan but is having such a difficult time with her hormones, emotions, fatigue from no sleep with a new baby, and the tug of war they play these days. While she has this immense and overflowing love for her baby, Olivia Jayne, that all mom's understand, she is then hit with tremendous sadness over the loss of Jessie. We had some long back and forths of texts yesterday with her sharing these feelings with me and me trying to be the encourager and "lifter-upper" of sorts but if you all could pray for Julie, I'd be so grateful. Julie has "light" from this new baby and is so grateful God gave her to them, but the darkness seems to overtake her.

  24. So glad for this blog and that I took the time this morning to read the old posts. Two things that spoke to me. Chris's post from 2018 about his struggles with people he has to supervise spoke to me in that I'm currently struggling with this. Yet yesterday, I deliberately put it in God's hands and a meeting I was dreading went so well, that there seems to be hope of things getting better. Right afterwards, I heard a voice that reminded me to thank God, which I did. The other thing that spoke to me was MadFox's post from last year where he was speaking about the pandemic and quoted the 23rd Psalm."Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me." It finally made sense that this is what this past year has been. We have been walking through the valley of the shadow of death. But we have nothing to fear because God is with us. Thank you Chris and MadFox and everyone else here. This place is such a blessing.

    1. Thank you PEBGDesigns, Chris and MadFox. Amen. We may be walking through the valley of the shadow of death because we have all been suffering in many ways through this Pandemic that is going to be around for a while. But He walks through every day and protects His beloved children. Be not afraid!!

    2. Here 3 years later, I read Chris's post about struggles with his people and again it resonated. Then I read my post from 3 years ago(which I had forgotten I had posted). And I can say there still are issues because people are human and broken, but things are still better and I find myself giving it to God more often. Praise God and thanks again for the safe space.

    3. Dear Yahweh I come to YOU through your precious son Jesus Christ/YESHUA, I praise YOU dear LORD, for another day and opportunity to be with YOU, and make better choices. I had an epiphany yesterday, as I wandered outside praying, YOU helped me to realize, to see how I’m not honoring the temple YOU have blessed me with, my body. Although I strive in so many ways to stay healthy, I unfortunately have some habits that are not making my life better, or my health. Dear LORD, I ask for forgiveness for taking for granted my beautiful vessel & temple YOU have blessed me with, YOU insured I was healthy enough to have my two amazing children, which I will never be able to thank YOU enough for. And knowing how much they both love YOU brings me great comfort & Joy . LORD I praise YOU for the strength and determination YOU have blessed me with to remove that which is no good from my life , it may not all be eliminated in a day but in time I know I will be freed from these habits and will have replaced them with time spent with YOU, as well as time spreading YOUR Word and doing works that are fruitful ๐Ÿ™❤️
YOU said in the last days YOU would pour YOUR Holy Spirit upon the world, I’m asking for that dear LORD and thanking YOU for blessing me with the HOLY SPIRIT, to guide ALL of my actions and words. I do not want to be a part of this world dear LORD.
I pray for all our prayer warriors here, just as I also pray for my brothers and sisters in both congregations I attend as well as the children and people of the world. LORD I ask for the hidden knowledge, and further direction, please lead me.
I ask these things in YOUR son’s precious name Jesus Christ,
      Amen

  27. Brie, hubby's back is still very painful. He has powered thru it to make this as best a vacation as we could. We made some great connections at a local church and have come back around to the idea that a move is not what we need. The illusion is that somewhere 'out there' is where the fruits of retirement lay. When we stay in the present with gratitude we are reminded again that we have more than enough for everything we need. We are so blessed to know the Lord.
Thank you for your continued prayers, I'm learning that I am not the most patient caregiver when my partner needs to depend on me for so much. Not a pretty revelation...I want to be and do better, thank you Jesus!

  28. Dear JC Family - I have much on my heart as I go to bed, tonight. I am praying for MadFox - that the COVID restrictions have been lifted and they will allow his wife, son &/or RN Daughter to be with him in the next few days. MadFox - if you are on here, please know that you are in my DH's prayers and mine. We love you, Brother - praying for you, tomorrow and the next few days, as your body rebuilds your immunity.
Alos, JC Family - I am scheduled for a Mammogram tomorrow afternoon, 4:15, EST. Any of you who have prayed for me know the big deal this is in my mind (and I repeat - IN MY MIND). I have nothing to fear Hx-wise; just the past experiences of beloved family and friends who have dealt with Cancer. It is time for me to put all of that to rest. "Be responsible. Put it to rest!. Give it to God. Do it afraid!" those are the words I have tucked in my heart along with His mighty Word. I feel like a whiney, cryey baby! GET OVER IT!! Still - asking for prayers as I face my feat and get this thing OVER WITH! Prayers, blessings and love to all of you. Heading to bed. We know He is on the Night Watch! Sigh.

Oh how the Holy Spirit has been teaching me in this the last two nights. How in the wording …. HE… goes… before… ME. HE IS MY… HE makes ME…. HE leads ME… HE restores ME… HE feeds ME… HE anoints ME. Then HE exults ME…by running MY…cup over. Goodness and mercy following… ME… and … I … praise the LORD… will dwell in HIS HOUSE FOREVER. HOLY Spirit, You are God (1JOHN 5:7);I would be ungodly and godless without You. Holy Spirit, You are the PARACLETOS (the One who stands by; our 'advocate' our 'helper'; John 14:26, original Greek) I would be alone and defenseless without you! The 'response' you received are words of a WARRIOR'S Spirit!!! These are words that you want to put down into your spirit, till you know that you know, that you know!!! This is what satan fears! You become a danger to him because you know, down deep inside your spirit, that you serve The Most High God and no other. 55. Psalm 19 ( AMPC)
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork.
2 Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night shows forth knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor spoken word [from the stars]; their voice is not heard.
4 Yet their voice [in evidence] goes out through all the earth, their sayings to the end of the world. Of the heavens has God made a tent for the sun,
5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; and it rejoices as a strong man to run his course.
6 Its going forth is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the ends of it; and nothing [yes, no one] is hidden from the heat of it.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes.
9 The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated, and instructed); and in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can discern his lapses and errors? Clear me from hidden [and unconscious] faults.
13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent and clear of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer.

Rest, peace, joy, and strength comes from being in the presence of the Lord.

  63. We have been made anew because we were forgiven. God is so merciful and Jesus bought our freedom from sin. He was a Ransom for many. So we must forgive others and love them unconditionally. I understand how hard it is to forgive those who have done us wrong. But that shows that we are paying God's unconditonal love forward and obeying Him. God forgave our wrongdoings, especially all the foolish sins we committed when we were young and trying to find ourselves. When I surrended to Jesus, I knew I was Home and now so many years later, I am still sure no one loves me or understands me like He does. Thank You Jesus!
Happy St Patrick's day to all. I married a fine Irishman so I consider myself Irish by marriage. l'll wear the green even when I'm singing in Church this morning. May God bless our new day, heal all our weaknesses, heal and comfort our loved ones, and answer our prayers in Jesus' Name. Amen

    An Irish Blessing
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
    And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

    Numbers 6:24-26
    The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
    And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
    And give you peace.

  65. What an absolute blessรจd relief to understand that because we are in Jesus Christ, we are free - untethered, from the law of sin and spiritual death.
Romans 8:1-2 (NIV): "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death."
It is so very precious that our Lord Jesus know every element of our being, every thought, intention, every deed, every need; there's nothing about each of us He cannot know for He is Omniscient - ALL knowing.
    ‭‭Psalm 139:1-24 AMPC‬‬
1 "O Lord, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me.
2 You know my downsitting and my uprising; You understand my thought afar off.
3 You sift and search out my path and my lying down, and You are acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue [still unuttered], but, behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.
5 You have beset me and shut me in–behind and before, and You have laid Your hand upon me.
6 Your [infinite] knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high above me, I cannot reach it.
7 Where could I go from Your Spirit? Or where could I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol (the place of the dead), behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning or dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there shall Your hand lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me and the night shall be [the only] light about me,
12 Even the darkness hides nothing from You, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You.
13 For You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and for the awful wonder of my birth! Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner self knows right well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately and curiously wrought [as if embroidered with various colors] in the depths of the earth [a region of darkness and mystery].
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious and weighty also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I could count them, they would be more in number than the sand. When I awoke, [could I count to the end] I would still be with You.
19 If You would [only] slay the wicked, O God, and the men of blood depart from me–
20 Who speak against You wickedly, Your enemies who take Your name in vain!
21 Do I not hate them, O Lord, who hate You? And am I not grieved and do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred; they have become my enemies.
23 Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
