Jesus Calling: September 14

Worship Me by living close to Me. This was My original design for man, into whom I breathed My very breath of Life. This is My desire for you: that you stay near Me as you walk along your life-path. Each day is an important part of that journey. Although you may feel as if you are going nowhere in this world, your spiritual journey is another matter altogether. That is why walking in the Light om My Presence is essential to keep you from stumbling. By staying close to Me, you present yourself as a living sacrifice. Even the most routine part of your day can be a spiritual act of worship, holy and pleasing to Me

Genesis 2:7
English Standard Version

then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

Psalm 89:15
English Standard Version

Blessed are the people who know the festal shout,
who walk, O Lord, in the light of your face,

Romans 12:1-2
English Standard Version

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

  1. Paytonfamily, yesterday you recommended a video from Joni on You Tube. I just completed it. So inspirational. As an occupational therapist for the last 35 yrs, I have seen many struggle with not only physical ailments but mental as well, including my self! Joni's perspective is so healthy, again physically and mentally. Thank you for sharing. Her testimony has strengthened me as well!

  2. A living sacrifice...we stand between a cross that proclaims that love is fully experienced in absolute denial of self and a world that constantly affirms the seeking of personal pleasure and gratification. We are left to choose. The pleasuring of myself is so addictive, especially by those things that are socially acceptable. Thus, the choosing of denying self can be so challenging. I have made it that way. But I have had my moments when I completely abandon myself for God or another and as I reflect back on those moments, they are some of my most blessed moments my life. I look forward to the day that I am a living sacrifice in that I only and forever choose the way of the cross. Thank you Lord for your patience with me; may I not take advantage of it.

    1. Well said. I Timothy 4:7 reminds me daily to train myself to be Godly. And when I don’t stay active in this I can’t help but get trained by the world. And in this country life is no longer about survival and making ends meet but for most of us it has moved to those things being understood and therefore we are focused on comfort, ease, safety at all costs and entertainment —which means there are many principles in the Bible that are hard for us to even comprehend anymore. Thanks for being transparent in echoing the struggle of living in the world and yet being not of this world.

    3. That's great.
One of the lines she said that I thought was great was, "It wasn't that Jesus doesn't care about the disabled and diseased (or our physical problems), but those physical problems weren't His main focus. The gospel was His focus. The gospel says that sin kills, hell is real, but God is merciful, His kingdom can change you and Jesus is your passport. And whenever people missed this. Whenever they came to Jesus just to get their physical problems fixed, that's when the Savior would back away." Keep the main thing the main thing.

Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul
Thank you, Lord, for making me whole
Thank you, Lord, for giving to me
Thy great salvation so rich and free

    4. Amen to that! Whenever they came to Jesus just to get their physical problems fixed, that's when the Savior would back away." Keep the main thing the main thing.

    5. Amen Chris!
That is why Jesus would say to some of the people who came to be healed: Your sins are forgiven. His priority was cleansing them of their iniquities and the physical healing was secondary. Our earthly suits will get torn and snagged but the condition of our souls is of the greatest concern to our God. That’s why our Father gave us His Son. We couldn’t be made whole without Jesus! He saved us. He is the greatest part of us. He is the One in us Who keeps us anchored to Heaven!

  4. 1 John 2:15-17 King James Version (KJV)

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

  10. So very thankful for this day, taking trips down 'Memory Lane,' as I gave birth to my first born 39 years ago today. My husband and I just called him and his voice was so warm and so appreciative. We will have a family dinner tomorrow, late afternoon and celebrate his life. To me, this was a tiny glimpse of how our Father must feel. The love, joy, at his love and joy. To see him smile again, after going through a very rough 12 year marriage, and to know how much his new wife loves him and honors him, warms my heart.
Yes, I will sing your praises, dear Heavenly Father. I will marvel at the gift of your only begotten Son. Which one of my children would I give because I so loved the world? I cannot fathom that kind of love. I am thankful this his Holy Spirit abides in me. I will not waste it, Father. I will be THANKFUL and I will share Your love.
Continued prayers for my JC Family and myself and my loved ones. Enjoy this lovely day that the Lord has made.

  12. THOUGHTS ON INTIMACY WITH OUR LORD

We have made our 'date' with God. We have picked our place, we have set the time, and we head to where He is and lo and behold, He is already there waiting for us.

Bringing this thought down to earth, if you have gone through the process above in arranging a time with with a dear friend or that one in particular that God has given for you to fall in love with, how would the initial encounter proceed (preCOVID and ever above and beyond COVID)? Eyes would light up (both theirs and yours), smiles would abound, there would be an initial personal contact, most likely a good hug, expressions of delight in seeing each other and a most blessed feeling deep inside of love felt in joy and happiness. Such would be the beginning of a 'date' with someone dearly loved.

You come to your designated time and place to meet with the One who loves you more than any other. Anticipate seeing Him. Capture the sense of excitement in greeting Him. Delight in His presence. Are His eyes sparkling, is He smiling, is there affection being expressed? Emphatically so!!! His arms are wide open toward you inviting you to come into them (see the cross). The evil one is trying to inhibit this encounter, it brings up reasons that you should not be eligible for such love. Discount that voice and dismiss it from your thinking. Run into those open arms, jump into the love there for you, let the joy flood the moments and ready yourself for a most blessed time. Just as you would with someone you love so dearly, now with the One that loves you so dearly. And just like that lover/friend who too is waiting in eager anticipation for your arrival, He is as thrilled if not more so to see you in this moment. Let this devotional time begin.

Be blessed, sisters and brothers in this blessed JC Family. With love, Bob

(I am not surprised to see this exercise I have launched into turning out to be something greater than I imagined. The replies you are posting are being used by the Holy Spirit to send it to that level. Ah, yes, the power of the communion of saints!)

  13. Loving Heavenly Father, I pray that my life be one that honors You in all that I say and all I do, in all the circumstances of my life, throughout the day and as I drift into sleep at night. Thank You for Your grace that is sufficient for me. Teach me how to worship You in the beauty of holiness so that I may be one that always bow my heart before You in spirit and truth. May I grow in grace and in the knowledge of my Lord Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray. Amen.

We were created to worship, praise, celebrate and glorify God, for He is love, and all that He does is done in love. This and so much more, makes Him the only one worthy of our worship, our love and total allegiance. Our worship of Him must be sincere with respect and love to His Holiness.
Worshipping Him is simply giving Him what He is so deserving of. While our love for Him sometimes grows weak, His for us is never diminished, it is unconditional. His power, gentleness unconditional love and so much more, makes Him praiseworthy!
When we praise Him, we are rehearsing His love for us and flaming the fire of love for Him that the Holy Spirit starts within us. This strengthens us in Christ Jesus and increases our desire to be like Him in His goodness, which increases our joy. It is right that we worship, glorify and praise the Creator of this universe, the One who died and rose to save us and give us life eternal. When we worship Him, we are also praising Him for His righteousness, for His mercy and for the way He is. Worship is the key to drawing near to our Father and it allows us to show our heartfelt expression of love, adoration, admiration, fascination, wonder, and celebration of who He is!
Let's worship Him together in spirit and in truth!

Dear Father, We Thank You for creation, preservation and all the blessings You gave us in life. Above all we worship and thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to be our propitiation, our Savior who washed away all our sins with His own blood. Thank You for Your love and grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

    Blessings and peace.

  22. “O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill, and to Your dwelling places” (Psalm 43:3).

Loving Father, Thank You for the Light of Your presence this morning. Walking in the Light of Your presence has many untold benefits for each day we live and breathe. This Light is one which illuminates the hidden corners of our human hearts and exposes its darkest secrets. Without Your Light, we would’ve remained in total darkest. Thank You for knowing me far better than I know myself and please help me to always trust You with all and any hidden areas of my life. As the Apostle Paul taught, help me to “pray without ceasing” and “keep in step with the Spirit of Jesus. This is my prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.

As we walk in the Light of God’s presence, let’s remember that the Lord’s searchlight penetrates our human spirit and exposes every hidden motive as the scripture declares in Prov. 20:27. However, the good news is when we walk in the Light of our Father’s Presence, we reap many benefits like keeping us in Truth in a world full of compromises. Walking in His light cast out fears because He is always where we are. Let's worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, for walking in His presence ensures His blessings upon us in ways of obedience.

“This is the message [of God’s promised revelation] which we have heard from Him and now announce to you, that God is Light [He is holy, His message is truthful, He is perfect in righteousness], and in Him there is no darkness at all [no sin, no wickedness, no imperfection]. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness [of sin], we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we [really] walk in the Light [that is, live each and every day in conformity with the precepts of God], as He Himself is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another [He with us, and we with Him], and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin [by erasing the stain of sin, keeping us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations]” (1 John 1:5-7).

    Blessings and Peace.

"Loving Father, Thank You for the Light of Your presence this morning. Walking in the Light of Your presence has many untold benefits for each day we live and breathe. This Light is one which illuminates the hidden corners of our human hearts and exposes its darkest secrets. Without Your Light, we would’ve remained in total darkest. Thank You for knowing me far better than I know myself and please help me to always trust You with all and any hidden areas of my life."
Thank you Lord for knowing us far better than we know ourselves. Only the one true God who is omnipotent and omnipresent could accomplish this. Thank you for calling us yours. Please search our hearts Lord and reveal our hidden sin. Please forgive us, cleanse us and lead us in a better way. In Jesus holy name amen

    Psalm 37
Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land. In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there. But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace. The wicked plots against the righteous and gnashes his teeth at him, but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he sees that his day is coming. The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose way is upright; their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. Better is the little that the righteous has than the abundance of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous. The Lord knows the days of the blameless, and their heritage will remain forever; they are not put to shame in evil times; in the days of famine they have abundance. But the wicked will perish; the enemies of the Lord are like the glory of the pastures;they vanish like smoke they vanish away. The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives; for those blessed by the Lord[c] shall inherit the land, but those cursed by him shall be cut off. The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand. I have been young, AND NOW I AM OLD, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. He is ever lending generously, and his children become a blessing. Turn away from evil and do good; so shall you dwell forever. For the Lord loves justice; he will not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land and dwell upon it forever. The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip. The wicked watches for the righteous and seeks to put him to death. The Lord will not abandon him to his power or let him be condemned when he is brought to trial. Wait for the Lord and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off. I have seen a wicked, ruthless man, spreading himself like a green laurel tree. But he passed away, and behold, he was no more; though I sought him, he could not be found. Mark the blameless and behold the upright, for there is a future for the man of peace. But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed; the future of the wicked shall be cut off. The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

  27. Stay near Me as you walk along your life-path. Each day is an important part of that journey…
Going out on the Beach early one morning, I saw many sets of footprint tracks in the sand. Some footprints appeared to be pawprints from a dog, some claw prints from a bird, some human prints, and some unidentifiable. Some footprints went straight, some meandered, some were shallow and faintly visible, some were bold and deep. Some vanished.
Playfully, I decided to follow some of those footprints. The pawprints led to a mound on the beach, and then went ashore; the claw prints seemed to stop abruptly as if they went airborne; the human prints led to a closed door. All the many footprints soon became numerous and complicated and I got exhausted following them. How often do we follow the paths, whims, and fantasies of others? When we do and exhaustion sets in, can we recognize our need for Our Savior and our need to only follow His Footprints, guided by His Light?
He Alone can put us on our own sure path to a sweeter, closer solace with Him. We may walk over wooden planks instead of soft sand, but once we arrive, we’re at a prime location, personally selected for us by Him. How can we know we are on His Path and Following His Footprints? Instead of the wide beach expanse filled with tourist onlookers and crowds, following Jesus’ Footprints involves our taking a less populated narrower path that is not always well defined nor well traveled. It may be that our steps are more hopeful than sure. It may even be a place the crowd avoids like a desert. Though less taken, the path following Jesus’ Footprints has advantages. Without all the crowd noise, we hear His Voice more easily. We see His Light more clearly. We feel His Love more dearly. We get to view God’s creation along a path that leads to The fruit of God’s Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, all signposts that we are on His Path, following His Footprints, and walking in His Light. All these things always lead us to Him. We can learn to travel this Path “alone”, though we are never alone; for God is always with us, leading us to safety in His Arms.
    Dear Heavenly Father God,
Would You help us choose Your sure path to Jesus today? And, would You give us just enough of Your Light for the step we are on? I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

  32. Today, woke up at 0430 and as often is my custom, I read the related scriptures and JC message for the day. Last night, I used a CPAP device for about 4.5 hours for the first time at home and that's what woke me up. I don't have classic symptoms nor am I obese, but the chemo-immunotherspy drugs either pushed sleep apnea to a worse, now impactful level, or created it.

If this device proves to correct the ongoing fatigue, as I test it over the next few days to a week, and my fatigue is lessened significantly, then today's JC verse, Genesis 2:7, will have entirely NEW significance for me. The reason is the mask I chose as the most comfortable was not over the entire face/nose/mouth, or the usual nose entirely, but is simply under the nostrils with pressurized air.

Genesis 2:7: then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

Fortunately, it was NOT all that bad for the first time! Praying and ask for prayers that it will indeed "breathe new life" into my energy levels and allow me to be much more active... i.e. this long-lasting fatigue will be significantly decreased or eliminated!

Also yesterday, I began a business and faith based new opportunity. Using my entrepreneurial background, to counsel, mentor, coach, and lead business groups. This will allow me to get back to working at least part-time although getting trained, the biz up and running, and setting up websites, etc. will be close to full-time in the months ahead. Praying that God's hand will bless this servant in a "new" ministry professionally, and continue "medically" in the infusion center over the years ahead.

To Norah in particular, praying for great outcomes with the treatments for the new myeloma levels of her husband, her healing, and for peace to be with the entire family. Godspeed to all those here... praying universally for the entire JC "membership"! Amen

      That life could have meanin’
      Through things I’ve achieved
You knew I was lookin’ for You
      Every time I thought Romance
      Might fill up the hole
      That incomplete feelin’
      Still ached in my soul
      Oh, You knew
      I was lookin’ for You

      Down a hundred highways
      Of empty pursuit
      And a thousand foolish
      Things I went through
      Didn’t know it back then
      But now I do
      I was lookin’ for You,
      I was lookin’ for You
      I couldn’t find comfort
      In the things I buy
      When the party was over
      And the bottle was dry
      Oh, You knew
      I was lookin’ for You
      Oh, and I went searchin’

      Down a hundred highways
      Of empty pursuit
      And a thousand foolish

      I was lookin’ for You,
      I was lookin’ for You

      Through the canyons
      And the heartaches
      And the valleys of pain
      Down those pathways
      Full of pleasure
      And those dead end
      Roads of shame
Oh, I couldn’t name the hunger
      That I tried to satisfy

      Down a hundred highways
      Of empty pursuit
      And a thousand foolish
      Things I went through
In a moment I looked up
      From down on my knees
And I cried out to Heaven,
      I could finally see
Jesus, Jesus, I know it’s true
      All of my Life
      I was lookin’ for You

  37. Walking in the Light of His Presence:
    1. We are not usually aware of His Light shining through us, though we may be aware of people's reaction to us.
    2. Other folk are and can be drawn to Him, or because their hearts are dark react against Him.
    3. We resist temptation, even when it's a lifelong battle: "For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life" (Psalm 56:13).
    4. We are blessed by His Presence which affects our home, work, relationships, our attitudes and wellbeing. The Light of His Presence brings God's favour into our lives:
(Psalm 89: 15) Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, LORD."
    5. We walk in the Light. Light shows up obstacles otherwise hidden in the dark. His Light within us brings warnings of what or who to avoid, we move in the right direction even if we can't see always see the next steps. ( John 11:9) "Jesus answered, ‘Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world'."
    6. Constant animosity, conflict, backbiting, and strife can’t survive in the Light.
This is not the nature of those who consistently walk in His Light.
The fellowship and love that we have for family, friends, colleagues and the people of God is revealed as the light shines from within. We can no longer stay with an unforgiving or unloving attitude because His Light won’t tolerate it. (1 John 1:7)
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin."

So much joy and blessings! God is so good. I have been thanking Him for giving me precious time with Rick and time to see beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I felt surrounded by His presence so much and I just felt His love overflowing in my heart. He gave me more happy memories to cherish. I picked up some pretty shells so the grandkids can choose the ones they want and maybe even paint some of the bigger ones. Praying for your prayers to be answered, dear JC Family. God bless you all. Have a sweet, productive, and happy day in the Lord. Remember His Light is shining in every situation.
