Come to Me when you are hurting, and I will soothe your pain. Come to Me when you are joyful, and I will share your Joy, multiplying it many times over. I am All you need, just when you need it. Your deepest desires find fulfillment in Me alone.
This is the age of self-help, Bookstores abound with books about "taking care of number one," making oneself the center of all things. The main goal of these methodologies is to become self-sufficient and confident. You however, have been called to take a "road less traveled": continual dependence on Me. True confidence comes from knowing you are complete in My Presence. Everything you need has its counterpart in Me.
John 15:5
English Standard Version
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
James 1:4
English Standard Version
And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
My Prayer
Lord, I am hurting today. Granted, it is emotional, concerned about my son and his current poor choices he is making with his life. You know about it. We've talked about it, but it hurts. It hurts to see him throwing his life away at the age of 15, with not a care in the world. Soothe my pain. Why is it I just come to you when its bad? Rarely do I come to you and celebrate victories. Yet, you are reminding me of this. You are reminding me that I need to keep coming to you. I want to be centered on you and run to you, no matter the experience and have confidence that you will take care of the problem. I do want to depend on You, not me and not even on what an author says about how I should handle this or that situation that is under your control. You are all I need. I want to believe that and live like that every moment of the day.
Update: October 26, 2017, 9:50am, Albuquerque, NM - I appreciate your prayers and standing in the gap with me. My son is 16 and still a challenge, but also a joy. His mother and I continue to commit him to the Lord, praying Ezekiel 36:26 for him daily and we are thankful for friends and many that support. We dis-enrolled him from school last month and he's doing an online public school with mostly my wife's help, as he is more accepting of her. We are praying for good people in his life, preferring people that honor God with their life. His idol of choice is Cannibas and we feel it has a big hold on him these last 2 years. He was in substance abuse counseling for 16 months, but recently quit that since he has no desire to be sober. We understand that in life not everything works out the way we want it to, but this never changes our dependence on God and our trust and belief on Him to do the impossible and no matter the outcome, we want to continue to abide in Him. Thank you.
Update: October 26, 2019 - My son is 18 now; he graduated from high school and is working now at a local restaurant. The bottom line is I love my son and nothing will ever change this. All of us have a tendency to turn to things not named God to cope with life and the struggles and disappointments and hurts we experience - but God remains the only anchor and help and the only one that brings true peace. While it hurts for anyone to not see this truth and naturally it hurts the most for those closest to us -- my response remains the same - love people, love God, and pray that more people, including my son, will love God more than anything else and turn to Him throughout all of the turns of life. Thank you for coming alongside me in this journey.

Praying now for you, your son, in Jesus' powerful name. *hug*
ReplyDeletePraying for you as well. I'm lifting up myself and my family to the One who makes everything new. Thank you God for always being there. ..when I am not.
ReplyDeleteYou and your loved ones are in my prayers. Thanks for having the boldness to share your heart.
ReplyDeletePraying for you and your son. God knows your heart. I pray for your love to shine through to your son and your words to him be from Jesus’ mouth. Just remember, he needs hugs too. In his bad moments, always find his good moments also.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you having raised four sons myself. Sometimes the only strength we have is to call on the name of Jesus. ..but that is enough! Jesus has all authority - everything must bow down to Jesus. And I pray in the name of Jesus that the strongholds over your son are broken. You keep praying and believing. While it is gut wrenching watching your child make such poor choices, you don't walk alone. I hope you have the support of friends and other family members and professional help if necessary. Lord, thank you for giving this son a mother who loves and cares for him and who has turned him over to you. Please cover this family with your love, grace & mercy. They are hurting. Please open this boy's eyes so he can see he is on the wrong road. ..that the ways of the world lead to destruction. Please put people in their path to help, comfort & strengthen them. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen and Amen.
ReplyDeleteI so wish I could tell you our story about our son. I understand your pain. You would rather take the worst physical pain then to watch your child make poor choices; AND suffer the consequences of those choices. I realized through that journey, it was not just about my Son's heart; it was also about my own. Nothing can touch a parents soul like their child, not even your spouse (as much as I love my husband!). God knew I had to "lay my Landon down." This was bigger then anything I had control of! My sweet sweet sister, God is good! I can't understand why things happen; even painful things when you're trying to be the best godly parent you know how. We will always fall short. When your son continues down this path, press more into him, showing that unconditional Christs love. You may think he doesn't care but he does more then you know. Love you my friend
ReplyDeleteWas this the same Landon we are now praying through law school?
DeleteThat's a great question!!!! Inquiring minds would like to know.
DeleteMeanwhile, thank you Jesus, YOU'RE ALL I NEED TO GET BY♥️✝️πΆ
https://youtu.be/PLjv0-ec-eU?feature=shared
It might take awhile but I believe he'll get over that hump... as long as you two continue to support him by being there when he needs it... he will remember what y'all do for him. Y'all never gave up on him like Jesus never gave up on us. He come back home to his Father.
ReplyDeleteLord you know the impulsive choices I make and the reasons behind them though I make you these choices can you please make sure I’m still ok through it. As your child Isometimes I feel unworthy of your help
ReplyDeletebecause of some of my selfish fleshy ways I pray that you love me forever through it! Please continue to forgive my neglectence. Thank you for everything you’ve done and do you are truly amazing for this EVERYTHING you’ve created it’s far more than amazing I could never fathom the detail ❤️❤️. Bless everyone please and agin forgive my fleshy
Morning, 2018 and reading this I pray there is continuing healing for you family.
ReplyDeleteBless you have a good day
DeleteThank you for sharing brother. Praying the same for my own son and will lift you and your family in prayer as well . God blesses you with His faithfulness, Amen
DeletePraying that your son is opening his heart to receive the truth. Keep fighting the good faith. I too am praying that my two younger sons and their wives seek and embrace the Lord for themselves. We can plant the seeds and with God's help they will take root.
DeleteStill praying! God's timing, not ours. Thank you Jesus, we trust you, we love you, we thank you! ♥️✝️
DeletePraying along with all of you for our lost loved ones. God never gives up so we should not either. He knows the way for the lost, They are never lost to Him. Lord please make the way home clear for all of those who do not know the way. Please Father, unblock their view from you. Remove whatever is in their way that is keeping them from you. I trust you with all of these lives including my sons for they are really yours and not ours. May Gods perfect love cover their minds and hearts, allowing them to see the road to our promised land. To see it and run home to the Father. Until then we praise The Lord for the victory which will come in His perfect time, continuing to Love them with our best effort and Gods perfect help.
DeleteGod bless all of you who are praying for their dear ones salvation, in Jesus name.
Fern - AMEN! Echoing your prayers.
DeletePraying for your son. God loves him and I know He is with him ! We are thankful for the wonderful parents who are praying daily for their son , hear their prayers oh Lord , may Your will be done !
DeleteThank you Paytonfamily for sharing the updates. I could have been your son. Godly Mom and Dad never stopped praying for me. God answers prayer. I received a great hurt in my mid/late teens, wanted out of society. Took to dealing, travelled widely to setup supply chains, got hooked myself, was a courier/mule. Was in Africa to buy supplies when I was handed a tract 'All we like sheep have gone astray, each has turned to his own way'. That was my turning point in the early '70's. God IS Faithful, keep praying, and thank Him in faith, that your son HAS returned to Him, even if you can't actually see it yet.
DeleteLoved the sharing of your way to the cross, RP. BLESSINGS on your dayπ₯°
DeleteAs my Mom always said, Always overestimate and highly esteem the value of a praying parent!
DeleteAmen, Brie. I’m praying now.

I am still praying THEHOPELINE prayer for us and all our children, and the world we are living in:
DeleteDear Heavenly Father, God,
I know You have the power to soften anyone’s heart. I am praying for me, us, and each of our dear ones to have a softer heart toward You and others. Please give us a new heart that accepts Your Love and Your Forgiveness and extends both to our own self and to others.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Wonderful prayer! Thank you and this group of followers, who provide an opportunity to connect with and stay close to my heavenly father every day! I pray for Steadfastness!❤️π
DeleteWhenever I pray Ezekiel 36:26 it works- --> on me far more than it does on the other person. I guess it is true, when one of my fingers is pointing at someone else, three of them are pointing back at me!
DeleteEzekiel 36: 26 And I will give you a new heart—I will give you new and right desires—and put a new spirit within you. I will take out your stony hearts of sin and give you new hearts of love.
DeleteI love that! I’m gonna need to remember that. My son is now 32 with twin boys still struggling over a decade of stimulant addiction but he’s alive. They are healthy. I pray I do my best to instill or recommend the belief system I have in Jesus and God. Pray for everyone’s children it is one roller coaster, but it really comes back down to one minute at a time, one day at a time, and really throwing yourself to the heavens when they say, Jesus take the wheel is really Literal!
DeleteOh ABBA, I humbly come to YOU through YOUR son our savior JESUS CHRIST, I praise YOU for this day and thank YOU especially for YOUR promises and for Always being with me. I surrender my mind, body, spirit to YOU and thank YOU for pouring YOUR HOLY SPIRIT upon me, lead me FATHER Please, when my Will is in control things don’t go well, I need YOU & YOUR guidance. I praise YOU for the prayers answered and for getting me through (although only 1 day) with the power and strength YOU blessed me with, remove the temptations to do Anything that is not good, i cry out to YOU, pleading for YOU to help me keep my focus on YOU and do only my duties as Your servant. YOU have predestined.
DeleteI thank YOU for keeping me and my loved ones out of harms way, PRAISE YOU for YOUR hedge of protection!
Thank YOU for my children, family, brothers and sisters in Christ. In JESUS. CHRIST name and through HIS power and authority bind and rebuke all evil from our home, minds, bodies through JESUS CHRIST name and HIS authority i cast YOU evil ones Out!
I pray the evil forces running this country and the world as YOU command will be shown the light of YOUR love , and begin to do what their job is- to serve the people of their nations. I pray for those still suffering from the horrific storms, mourn with those whom have lost loved ones, as well as I pray for those that are doing everything they can to help them, keep them safe please FATHER. Protect our children, being inundated by unbelievable atrocious things through technology, schools and society
Please forgive me for my sins and help me be with only YOU each moment.
In JESUS CHRIST name I pray
Amen
Aπ❤️
AMEN! i join you in this prayer rebuking all evil influence over my mind and my family. I'm Jesus' name we pray!
DeleteThank you for your prayers for helping us - we all also pray for you and your family and son. Life is hard. God is good!

ReplyDeleteCounting Every Blessing
Song by Rend Collective
Ooh, ooh
I was blind, now I'm seeing in color
I was dead, now I'm living forever
I had failed, but you were my redeemer
I've been blessed beyond all measure
I was lost, now I'm found by the father
I've been changed from a ruin to treasure
I've been given a hope and a future
I've been blessed beyond all measure
I am counting every blessing, counting every blessing
Letting go and trusting when I cannot see
I am counting every blessing, counting every blessing
Surely every season you are good to me
Oh, you are good to me
Oh, you are good to me
You were there in the valley of shadows
You were there in the depth of my sorrows
You're my strength, my hope for tomorrow
I've been blessed beyond all measure
I am counting every blessing, counting every blessing

Lyrics to Counting Every Blessing by Rend Collective Experiment from the Good News album - including song video, artist biography, ...
Chris. Appreciate the updates and I think many, if not all, can relate. One of our adult kids continues to struggle with a few issues. We, as parents, can only love them and hope that they will seek our counsel when the world or their "sinful desires" leads them away from family and faith. Sadly, social media, the press, and the secular world are strong attractions to many dangerous and destructive paths.
ReplyDeleteFor me, not only do I worry about our kids over the next few decades, but I wonder where Christians will fit in this increasingly fractured nation. My goal each day is to seek "the road less traveled" with our Lord leading the way or at least holding my hand if I am led astray and need Him on the rough spots ahead.
Praying for all the needs here, from Norah to CO to zfuntastic to Maplewood and all the rest. May God be your source first when praying [and may you receive His love in all you do today. Amen.
Amen MadFox! sending tons more blessings towards you and your family and lifting up your precious child that is struggling. May God's love and power take over every situation and grant you all the support and care that Only He can provide. Standing in prayers for your family. God bless your family.
DeleteMaplewood NJ
MadFox - I too am praying for healing and strength for your son. May you and the good Lord guide him always. Thank you also for your wonderful inspiring words. KS
DeleteMadFox - I meant to say adult family member instead of son. KS
DeleteThank you KS and Maplewood. KS, you were not wrong. I try to keep comments generalized as discussed before... don't feel I have the right to publicly discuss issues concerning others without permission. Mostly, comment here to help others from my experience and the specifics aren't necessary. God knows the people I'm praying about and who the group here mentions as well. God bless all here and those we are praying about!
DeleteMadfox bless you
DeleteAmen Madfox! Praying for your son and my own sons. We will just keep loving our children and may they clearly see the bright light of Christ in us, and someday seek it for themselves. Praying for all those whose loved ones have not found Him yet. Praying for your miracle and believing God is already healing every weakness in your body. Amen!
DeleteIt is such a blessing to wake up refreshed, know that you have new mercy and be reminded that I can come to You with both our joy and pain. You are all I need when I need in It, Thank You Lord.
ReplyDeleteAs I am urged to come to You with any and ALL pain and Joy, I commit my sisters Lily Mae and Diamond into Your sheild of protection. After 7 years of emotional and physical abuse, LilyMae has finally gained the courage through Your Spirit to leave her husband. He has caused so much pain to my family, but as it is said, Only You 'God that can show up late but still be on time'. May the Blood of Jesus protect them from any evil or retaliation from this person and return any arrow back to sender. My little sis Diamond is also being threaten by this man, but greater is HE that is in us. Thank You Lord for directing us to take the right actions and trust You. All evil plans are already DESTROYED in the name of Jesus.
Please pray with me in covering them with God's sheild of peotection and the Blood of Jesus.
This morning, I pray for each of you, blessings that surpasses your understanding, the peace and love of God, abundant blessings and favour of God. I pray psalm 91, Ephesians 1:17-23 and Epesians 3:14-22 over all of you and your families, in Jesus name.
Stay blessed and keep walking with the Lord.
Maplewood NJ
Maplewood - You, your mom, Lily Mae and Diamond are in my prayers. Thank you for sharing these prayer requests. Be blessed.

Joining Sassy Mom Maplewood in prayer for your loved ones & for the lost husband.
DeleteMaplewood, I too am joining in prayers for your family. May the good Lord shower all of you with blessings, love and comfort. KS
DeleteMaplewood, I, too, am praying for you and your sisters. May the peace of God be with you as you go through this time.
DeletePraying for your family and hoping that this year has brought them God's peace, comfort, guidance, protection, good health, faith and fulfillment. Thank you, Jesus!
DeleteI was Lilly Mae 32 years ago . Took 5-7 years before I had the strength. It is a Mine blowing horrific thing that only a person inside of it could understand as it’s happening around them. I still have pain issues to this day but I have God to pray to Jesus every morning is the best thing I ever did is to get out of that situation, still go through things that try to get to the bottom of how I got in a situation to begin with. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger what we can learn we can share. Bless you and hope your family is doing well.
DeleteJohn 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
ReplyDeleteThank You Lord, In Your Presence, I am complete.
Amen! Complete in the fullness of Christ! All love and all peace and all joy.
DeleteChris - Thank you for your wonderful update. Your commitment to family is heavenly. God is great. You have helped all of us in so many ways with this wonderful blog. Thank you. KS
ReplyDeleteChris- I join in prayer with others to hold you & your family close to the Father's heart as you watch & wait for Him to hone the rough edges of your son's life. The prodigal son's road to redemption was & is never easy. The father's faith & belief got him safely home as will your faith & belief get your son safely through this difficult journey. Jesus has your son exactly where He wants him. Hallelujah!
ReplyDeletePraise your Holy Name Father in heaven! Praise You in the morning, noon & night! Praise You in despair, praise You in darkness, praise You in sickness, praise You in loss, praise You when worry & mistrust overcome us, praise You in lean times when finances are threatened, praise You in sadness & sorrows. Let Everything that hath breath praise the Lord both now & forever more! Amen!
ReplyDeleteJan - Hallelujah, PTL, AMEN AMEN!!!
DeleteAmen! With every breath! Praise Him!
DeleteWow, thank you for sharing. After having my own struggles with cannabis for 15 years, I have finally been able to quit by the grace of God. I knew in my heart it was holding me back from a deeper relationship with Him, but it kept drawing me in as a crutch. I pray for your son to know the presence of God that is with him and may he come to shed any ways that hinder that relationship, if it is in God’s will. Thank you for positing these devotionals and thank you for your honesty. We must love everyone. Have a blessed day! ❤️
ReplyDeleteGood morning all. Appreciate all your posts and appreciate you quite members reading as well. Praying a blessing on you.
ReplyDeleteThis is the day the Lord has made. Lord let me rejoice in you. Asking for prayers today that the Lord's love will flow through me and that it is unmistakably Him in me. Today I am working on a project with the woman I love. Asking for God to be there guiding, directing, growing in us, and healing however He wants to. Again thank you for these prayers. "Without Him we can do nothing."
He sometimes speaks to me by putting a verse or song in my mind. Today it is these words, "those who thirst will thirst no more... will find what their hearts long for!" Reread today's JC message and it fits so well. I encourage you to listen to "The Well" by Casting Crowns. Lifting a prayer for someone. "When you don't know what to pray, the Spirit intercedes"
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith!

Cannabis came up several times in today's blog. The devil can exploit things that God has created. I feel there is so much medical potential in such an active element, but unbridled and unsupervised use of the hallucinogens has derailed so many productive lives. Bottom line comes down to the poor choices people make. Our continued prayers that God will put trusted people around our loved ones to show them God's love and help them away from their poor choices.
ReplyDeleteAmen! Declaring that the demons in charge of "dumbing down" any members of our society with all intoxicants and addictions be cast into the lake of fire where they belong.
DeleteGood morning Mr Peyton and all!
ReplyDeleteI want to share something with you all that has changed my life and that will forever change your perspective on the way that God sees you, and that is through The Perfect Eyes Of Love and it is my prayer and my wish that you would share it with your son and all those that you meet just as I pray for all who read this message of eternal love that they too would share it with their loved ones and everyone they encounter, this is our Precious & Priceless Heavenly Father's and Sons intimate & personal Love Letter to you all!!! This is "their message" of eternal love to YOU!!! Yes, "YOU" the one reading this right now, "YOU" are God's masterpiece and His Precious & Priceless Treasure and He loves and adores you just as He loves His Son Jesus! His overwhelming never ending reckless love for you is beyond description, it is beyond comprehension, for His phenomenal love spills out from his heart and there's so much love that His heart cannot contain it and so it overflows from His soul to YOU, His Precious & Priceless and beloved child! His love for you is overwhelming it's never ending and it is a reckless love that chases you down fights till your found by leaving the 99. We couldn't earn it and we don't deserve it but that didn't stop our Heavenly Father from sending His One & Only Precious & Priceless and Most Loving and Beautiful Son Jesus to rescue and redeem us from the lies of the devil and from going to hell, it is because of His passionate overwhelming all consuming love for us that He took our place and died for Our Sins... Because He truly loves Us Beyond Measure, beyond description and Without End!
So if you ever doubt your Heavenly Father's Love or His Sons love for YOU, Just take a good look at the cross, He did it all for "YOU"!!! And anytime you hear any negative and condemning words its coming straight from the enemy and not from God for God speaks love and encouragement to you, and hope because God is Love and He is The Very Author of Love & Respect and He is absolutely FOR YOU and NOT AGAINST YOU, YOU'RE the VERY REASON He went to the cross, He came to Save YOU, He came to show you the way and to tell you the truth and to give you long life, eternal life, believe it!!! Everything He did and does is out of a pure heart Because He truly loves you beyond measure beyond comprehension and He wants YOU to spend eternity with Him in Heaven where everything is perfect and beautiful and glorious and devine, where there is no more pain no more tears no more suffering, just Eternal Heavenly Bliss and overwhelming ecstatic Joy, You cannot fathom or imagine or perceive what awaits you!
So please view the link below, if for some reason it does not open you can Google it by typing in a Father's Love Letter.
And my personal prayer for you all is Psalms 91 nkjv version if you don't have a Bible on hand you can Google Psalms 91 and view it through Bible gateway's website or another Christian website that you will see links for. So as God's precious and priceless and beloved children and by His authority let us go out into all the world and preach His beautiful message of love and hope and truth as we ourselves walk in love and obedience to Him as we draw ever close to His loving heart by calling upon Him and asking Him to lead us and guide by His Holy Spirit that will lead us into all truth. And let us love others the way He loves us, perfectly with deep love and respect for all!!!
May the GOOD Lord bless you and keep you and make his face to shine upon you and give you peace.♥

GOD'S HOLY SPIRIT keeps nudging me to ask you, JC Family:
ReplyDeleteWhat would you do if a small teary eyed child brought you one of his/her favorite toys, broken?
What would you do if the broken toy resulted from that small teary eyed child's own fault?
Initial response: to show compassion for not only is the toy broken, the teary eyed child is feeling a brokenness within which is the heart of the matter. Thanks for asking, Brie.
DeleteMercy triumphs over justice. My heavenly Father would see my brokenness first & foremost as Brother Bob posted. I would hug the child & respond with compassion. Bless you Brieπ₯°
DeleteBrie your question tugged at my heart strings.
DeleteWe have a little guy that this scenerio often applies to. My desire is to offer him comfort and to try and fix it. His response frequently is to continue to cry and lash out at me in anger. When this happens my desire to help decreases. I may lay the item down and walk away until he has calmed down. Explaining to him I wanted to help, but his behavior made it impossible. On other occasions I pick him up and hold him as he continues to lash out at me. Whispering directly in his ear that I love him and I want to help him. This reminds me of what God does for us. He is the perfect Father and he knows exactly what we need. I have to admit my response isn't always so kind and loving because I'm not perfect and my tired flesh pops up with a response such as I told you not to throw it, step on it, etc.
God may give us correction if we miss handled what he has blessed us with, but he is always loving and forgiving when we bring our brokenness to him.
Lord please help me to allow you to respond through me. Speaking the words you give me as I go through this several times a day. Only through you can I be an example of your love. In Jesus name amen.
Great question, Brie! Immediate response would be compassion and mercy. I would dry the child's tears, give a big warm hug and say everything will be alright. And maybe say: It's just a toy. I'm glad you didn't get broken.
DeleteBut I would also instruct the child that if one doesn't take care of the things one has been given, they will break or destroy them and they will no longer have them. We also have a responsibility to take care of our bodies and minds, and also to nurture the garden of our heart, and feed our faith with God's Word every day.
Terri, I loved your sweet and gentle words of truth. We should love as God loves us: He gently whispers into our ear that He loves us and He's right here ready to dry our tears, pick us up. and hug us. Let us all do our best to be an example and extension of that soft and gentle love to all who need it.
I would do much of the same with compassion. I'm also going to answer the question with another question. How do we teach how to forgive themselves? I think the answer, no surprise, is Jesus. Would this be a moment to help, fix and comfort and to teach that Jesus's does that for us all?
DeleteI dunno but since children are great imitators, I guess they can also learn forgiveness like they learn anything else; by watching us, seeing and then imitating what we do do, rather than what we say do.

DeleteTHOUGHTS ON INTIMACY WITH OUR LORD
ReplyDeleteI share with you my pattern of prayer in my quiet time. It is the pattern that has developed for me over the years and is still developing. I am NOT suggesting you need to follow it, I am merely sharing it for what it is worth. You should be led to have your own pattern and if you would like to share it, we will all grow from you.
My prayer list:
I always begin by giving thanks to God for the mystical experience of falling in love and for the person with whom He called me to be in love. I give thanks to God for the sacramental experience of marriage. I pray for my wife's well being in all ways and I pray for my devotion to her well being. I use to pray for her to be more like I wanted her to be but now I have grown to pray for me to be more like she needs for me to be. In so doing, she does become more like I need her to be.
Next I pray for our children and grandchildren, their lives and wholeness. I give thanks for my parents who are now both in glory. I pray for my only sibling and his wife. These I pray for each day.
I pray for my extended family, aunt & uncle, nieces, step-siblings, cousins and children of cousins. I pray for one category each day.
I give thanks and pray for the family into which I am privileged to be joined through marriage. My wife has four siblings so I pray for one each day and all of the offspring from their marriages.
My life breaks down nicely into six phases, so I remember one phase each day with thanksgiving for God's faithfulness. I remember people that were and always will be a blessing. I give thanks for churches in each phase and the blessing it was to be a part of them. I give thanks and ask God to bless them.
Then I move into prayers for the present, people and situations I have spoken about the last two days. I pray for governmental leaders using Isaiah 11:2-3a as my prayer.
Then I have a handful of random people I pray for each day. If someone were to look at my list, they might wonder how this or that person got on my list. The answer - because I feel called to pray for each one and ask God's blessing every day. Example: I met a young woman who had joined Teen Challenge to get her life together. She told me of her relationship with her dad and of his death. I felt she needed to have a dad praying for her regularly so I have assumed that role.
Next, I visit my Facebook page to encounter people primarily from the past. Being that I am in prayer mode, I respond to their posts with words of love and affirmation toward them.
Then comes my most recent addition to my schedule, you and all the JC Family. I pray for your requests or just simply remember you and give thanks for our connection.
I close with the Lord's Prayer/Our Father.
The end result of praying for all these people is that I have a great love for each because of the prayers. When I have gotten together with some of the distant relatives, they are amazed I know their name and the names of their children. It is because I pray for them regularly. I have fallen in love with them in praying for them; thus I know their names.
As I said, this is my own pattern that has developed over time. If the Spirit stirs you with anything I do, then thanks be to God. Be blessed!
May your week be richly blessed with God's love, grace, and mercy (a given). God be with you. With love, Bob
Thank you Bob. Jesus is using you and I am grateful. I have been praying for the lord to help me learn how to love more and open my heart. Thank You Jesus. You never cease to amaze me. Praise the Lord continually and always.

DeleteBob, Thank you for sharing details of your prayer life. You are changing the lives of many people by your prayers. I love how your prayer has changed about your wife. It made me think of how I should pray for my husband. He isn't perfect and neither am I. I'll pray that I will become what He needs me to be. We have both changed but we're still in love and still there for each other.
DeleteGreat line-up!!! Thank you!!
DeleteAs you pray for others, we pray for you and yours. May the grace, mercy and love of God remain with you always.
God bless you my friend/bday brother, Bob!

Bob, not only is this great spiritual insight, it is so practical. No wonder I have such a hard time remembering names! I'm going to work the prayer angle and I bet I'll do better! Thank you!
DeleteThank You Jesus. You are so wonderful and amazing Lord. I am blessed to be Your child Lord.
ReplyDeleteAmen dear Janet! So blessed to belong to Him and to have a great Dad!

ReplyDelete“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matt.11:28-30).
ReplyDeleteLoving Father, Thank You for the invitation to step into a life led by Jesus, in which He promises rest for my weary and burdened soul. Pour into me whatever You will. Allow me to sit quietly in Your amazing presence and let You do all the work You desire in my heart. Thank You that everything I need “has its counterpart” in You and thank You for grace that is sufficient for me, and for Your power that is made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
“Having cast all your anxiety upon Him, because with Him there is care about you” (1 Peter 5:7 BLB).

DeleteFor I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, "Fear not, I am the One who helps you." (Isaiah 41:13). Indeed, we felt like we have received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God Who raises the dead. (2 Corinthians 1:9). "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. (Jeremiah 17:7).
ReplyDeleteHeavenly Father, thank You for being in my life and letting me lean and depend on You. I can't do anything apart from You. You complete me. I am Yours and You are mine. We are one. Align our spirits together as one. Let me bask in Your loving Presence. I look to You for perfect peace, love, strength, courage, joy, and gentleness. You are my Father and Lord and You give it all to me. You give to me whatever I ask for that is within Your will. You hear and answer all my prayers. You know everything about me and all of my thoughts. You are sovereign over all things. You are the best Father ever. I praise You Lord always. Thank You Jesus. I am so grateful to be Your child. Please shine Your love light within me and remove any and all darkness and replace it with the light of Your Presence. Let me shine with the beauty of You within me. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

ReplyDeleteGood morning ☀️ Just last night I talked to my son and he seemed very down. As I read above this morning about those who are also concerned about their sons it made me think even more to pray for mine. Please pray for him; his name is Joseph. He is a good kid/adult and just turned 23. He doesn’t go to college , but he works. However, he works for contractors and the jobs he has gotten recently have been seasonal. If someone would just agree with me in prayer that he will turn to God and find his hope in Him. That his spirits will be lifted and another opportunity will present itself. Also, if he is getting depressed that he will talk to us and confide in us or someone close to him to help him get through this time. That the Lord will bless him and keep him making His face shine upon him and for Him to give his angels charge over him in all his ways. Thank-you to everyone! ♥️May God bless you all! Matthew 18:20 Jeremiah 29:11 John 14:1 Psalm 91:11 In Jesus Name Amen π
ReplyDeleteMay we all turn to God and experience His blessings on us, our Sons, and our Daughters, their children, along with each of our dear ones, both now and forevermore. In Jesus' Name I join in prayer. Amen.
DeleteSharon - "Matthew 18:20 Jeremiah 29:11 John 14:1 Psalm 91:11" Joining and echoing your prayers for all of our children.
DeleteAgreeing with you dear Sharon in praying that your son will ask, seek, knock & yield to the Holy Spirit's leading in his life. Dear Lord, look upon Joseph with favor in providing him the counsel he needs through Godly friends. Amen.
DeleteJoining in prayer with you all for blessings upon this and a thousand generations, our children and their children and their children...
DeleteJoining in prayer for your dear son! Praying that God will guide his steps, lift his spirit and encourage his heart.

DeleteToday's devotion reminds us: Come to Me when you are hurting, and I will soothe your pain. Come to Me when you are joyful, and I will share your Joy, multiplying it many times over. I am ALL you need, just when you need it. Your deepest desires find fulfillment in Me alone.
ReplyDeleteWe can learn important life lessons from creatures that live on or near beaches, including various species of Penguins. Consider both their on land abilities and their water skills. On land, penguins move slowly and sluggishly with a distinct waddle, as though "something" may be holding them back or weighing them down, or as though it is painfully difficult to walk. On land, penguins are also quite nearsighted.
In the water however, penguins easily and joyfully fly through the water, sometimes more than 20 miles per hour. Their vision is clean and clear. They transform.
We may ask, So why don't they simply remain in the water and have the joys of speed, along with the joys of keen and clear sight all the time?
The answer lies in being beached; sidelined for a season and with good reason. Though beached is a less joyful experience for penguins, beaches are key to their survival in the water. You see, penguins have rookeries on shore where they can breed, find rest and respite, as well as feed with fewer predators.
Similarly, in our own day to day existence, we also have both seasons. Some seasons provide great vision and the ability to soar and joyfully glide through the waters. During other seasons, we feel weighed down and reduced to waddle, sometimes painfully across spaces that appear barren. Taking a cue from our penguin friends, at these times we can ask God's Guidance to our rookeries, which could include counseling, comfort from others, rest, attending to internql matters of God's choosing. We too can transform so when it is time to joyously soar again, we will have had God's renewal and restoration, and yes, clearer vision more akin to God's.
Dear Heavenly Father God,
When our lives are hurting during seasons thet are seemingly slow and uncertain, would You remind us that this season is necessary for our transformation? Would You teach us how to regroup and reconnect with You? And when seasons are joyful, and we are happily gliding through, would You teach us how to regroup and reconnect with You? And through both seasons, would You transform us into thankful children who trust You through it all?
In Jesus' Name I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. I yield. Amen.
Bless you, and all of our JC family in this season, whatever it may bring. We are not alone. Thanks for this reminder π§π§π§π§π§π§π§
DeleteLove the visuals π§ π
DeleteGot any visuals for Rookeries? Brie asks, as she waddles in search of hers! π
Thank you sweet Brie! You do paint a lovely picture. My life has changed so much since my Grands have been born. But I love them dearly and I'm so grateful. I haven't had time to paint or work on songs I am writing. Spending time with them and helping my son and his wife who live nearby, are gifts from the Lord and I am so grateful. I'm blessed that my other two sons and their loves ones will be visiting in November and December. Something to really look forward to.
DeleteMy Mom is going through a hard season. She's getting weak and stays in her pajamas most of the time and prays for so many people. She has some issues but refuses to go to a doctor. She is 93 and still smoking but only about 6 cigarettes a day. Thank God she has been double vaccinated and had her flu shot and her first shingles shot. We will get our second in November. She doesn't feel like going out except to Church. Walking is getting difficult for her but she loves Jesus and He is keeping her going. We all find ourselves in good seasons and bad seasons. God carries us through both of them. We must trust what He allows in our lives. He is honing us and giving us a chance to weather the storms in His presence. I think perhaps this place of refuge is like a rookery because we can find rest here with our dear JC Family, love, encouragement, comfort for our weary hearts and food for our souls, and much needed prayers, as we pray for each other.
Amen Brie. Joining in your prayer:
And through both seasons, would You transform us into thankful children who trust You through it all?
In Jesus' Name I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. I yield. Amen.
Thank you warriors. Doin' a victory dance for the power released through your prayers! There WAS a sign of plaque built up in my carotid artery. My doctor said the scan showed NO significant sign of it now. Hallelujah! When I told her that I pray, then I try natural means to help my issue, she was a little impressed. Thank You my dear Lord for Your leading & guidance through this, bless all the prayer warriors who stepped in to intercede on my behalf. Amen! Hallelujah!
ReplyDeleteJoy! Amen and Alleluia! Victory Dance Time. Thank you for sharing. Jan.
DeletePRAISE GOD, JAN!!! WOO-HOOOOO! Victory dancing for you in Georgia! God along with His healing herbs for the WIN, Alex! lol. So very happy for you, Jan!

DeletePraying for you every day dear Terri, Rose and Fern. Looking forward to hearing you are doing well.
Dear Terri, Praying you are recovering from Covid and your good husband is feeling better and your children are improving.
I love you all and thank you God for your ever lasting presence!
ReplyDeleteMay God bless you Tom. We are united in His love. Thank You Jesus for always being with us and for leading us on our journeys.
DeleteAn interesting thing happened today before I read JC. The Lord asked me to hold some pain or struggles the Woman I Love is experiencing... n to use today's word, to be a counterpart for her as He is the counterpart over all.
ReplyDeleteI have not spoken to The Woman I Love for a year but this is the text I was moved to send:
Take a breath... He has asked me to hold something or somethings in my heart. He hasn't told me what they are but knowing you, I could guess. But guessing would not be being sensitive to you. These things are things in your heart that have or are troubling you.
So just know that He has made plenty of room in my heart to carry some of these things so that you do not have to carry them alone.
What they are, I believe, can be revealed by one question; "How is your heart Carrie?"
Beautiful, Keith. That is a question that invites intimacy with HIM and amongst us as we seek meaningful relationship and healing in our lives. Thank you for sharing. ♥️
DeleteThank you Keith for sharing your heart. God told you Carrie is suffering in some way and you should help carry her burden in your heart. That is so moving. Praying always for God to guide your path to true love and contentment.
ReplyDeleteMay the Woman you love realize your love for her is something real and that God is leading you to reach out to her. God bless you always my brother. Rest in Him who cares for you.
Good morning, I would like to ask for prayers for my son. For help with his life struggles. For him to find the Lord.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Unknown - Joining in prayers for your son to open the doors of his heart when Jesus knocks. Praying for you as you pray for me.
ReplyDeletePraying for Guidance and Discernment.
ReplyDelete"Incidentally" found a small (30 bed) assisted living home. Consdering putting Keith in for a week or a month, but I want what is best for him and I am unsure if he can flourish in this environment, and am afraid if he doesn't. Prayers requested. Thanks family!
Hi Brie,
DeletePraying to God to help you make the right choice concerning your brother Keith. You have been and continue to be a wonderful caretaker for him. Whatever you decide, I pray that you will have peace.
TJ
Precious Brie --- I join with TJ and Jeanne in standing in the gap for you for Guidance and Discernment. Father God, I come to You and ask You to help Brie make sound decisions concerning Keith. Let her judgment in this situation be permeated by Your Holy Spirit.
DeleteShow her the path You have set for her and Keith and how to walk in it. Because we walk in Faith and not sight, I come to You, Father, and ask that you remove any doubt and anxiety
from Brie's heart and replace it with Your peace. Brie, I Decare and Decree that you refuse to let your heart be troubled, and you will walk in the same peace
that Jesus has. A good decision will arise. In Jesus's name, AMEN and AMEN.
He is making a way, Brie. He is making a way! JJ
Brie - Praying for discernment for you. God is sovereign and will open doors and give you wisdom to make the right choices.
DeleteSC Anonymous
Joining with my sisters and JC family, Brie, praying you feel a clear understanding from our Heavenly Father as to what the right decisions are for Keith. He most certainly knows the incredible sister you've been to your brother but also knows there is only so much you physically can do yourself...even with Larry's help. A care facility is just that...they have the equipment and physical ability for Keith's needs. It is a very tough decision and I pray you feel God's leading, Brie, as to what to do. Wrapping you in love, dear sister, and praying for peace for you. In Jesus' name, amen.
DeleteDear Brie, joining in with all the prayers being placed at Jesus' feet for you & Keith. Father God, as your humans we are so susceptible to second guessing ourselves. Help Brie to be at peace with whatever is decided for Keith's welfare, knowing that You have been faithful with their past need, You will show Yourself faithful still, now & forevermore!, AMEN!
DeleteThank you Father for showing Brie what you are doing in her life and the lives of her loved ones. Thank you for your gift of discernment that guides Brie's fault decisions.
DeleteTypo "fault" π€ͺ should be"daily". NO FAULT! NO BLAME!
DeleteThanks be to God for TJ, JJ, SC Anonymous, NJS, Jan gridley, Audra, Jeanne, Norah and all who prayed, and will pray, for discernment of the best forward path for Keith. Now all that is left for me to do is, Let It Be, Let It Be, Let It Be, Let It Be. There will be an answer, Let Ot Be e e e in Jesus' Name. Amen.!
DeleteBrie, Dear TJ is right! You are such a giving person and you have done everything in your power to take good care of your good brother Keith. He knows how much you love him and I believe no matter what decision God guides you to, he will understand and accept it. He weighs 120 pounds and he requires a lot of help to meet his many needs. It is a tremendous job for you so don't feel guilty if you know you need some help. God knows what he needs too, and also what you need. Trust in the Lord and He will guide your decision and Keith's treatment and care. Trusting in His faithfulness. Rest now sweet sister in Him who loves you.
ReplyDelete"Come to Me when you are hurting, and I will soothe your pain."
ReplyDeleteWhen we are hurting it's often difficult to focus on the Lord and not the pain. It's doubly painful when we have hurt ourselves for we have no one to blame but ourselves. There is no self help available. Self recriminations abound, we feel isolated, unworthy to live in His Presence.
That is a fact! We ARE unworthy to live in His Presence!
Our Heavenly Father's heart that we see through Jesus is one of love continually. His agape - self sacrificial love absolutely refuses to, in fact cannot, un-love us.
Isaiah 54:10 "For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you."
Matthew 22:28 “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."
Amen dear Peter! We are perfectly loved in our imperfections. We should then love others despite their faults and weaknesses.
DeleteThank you for your prayers, Dear JC Family. I do have good news: Paula's tube was removed on Monday and she is breathing on her own. I was able to catch up with her sister last night and they are encouraged. Lloyd's Onc son came in yesterday morning and went with him to the Oncology appt. They learned that it is NOT pancreatic cancer and were ecstatic. It is a stage 3 cancer - metastatic neuroendocrine cancer. They will do more tests to determine the growth rate. He will not do chemo but receive some form of monthly treatment (a shot). The BEST news is his life expectancy is several years vs. months! AND...Baby Ezekiel made it through his surgery. I don't know any more than that, but we were def doing the HAPPY DANCE! Ezekiel means, "God's Strength." Praying for the family and that little baby boy's life.
ReplyDeleteWe leave in an hour for my DH's Onc appt. I thank you for all of the prayers. Our hearts are calm. I hope to move back to my "new" office this afternoon. God is SO good.
Jeanne, I am very thankful that you made it through that storm. What a harrowing experience, but you (as always) were so faithful to trust in the Lord. We have rainy skies today, but it's really just gray out and makes the trees even more beautiful.
I'm praying for your decision, Brie and open doors for the help you need. You are an amazing sister and I know Keith knows that. Believing with you, dear Sister.
Love and Blessings to each of you, JC Family. Praying for another PRAISE REPORT later today, re: my Best Man!
Have my victory shoes on to celebrate your good news and more answered prayers! Praying for continued healing for all. God is so good. DeleteThanking you for all of your prayers - and know that you are in mine! Have to tell you how this happened: The Oncologist walked in the room, shook both of our hands and said to my DH< "YOU look as great as your numbers!" He went on to examine him, look again at his chart and said, "We're going to kick this can down the road!" I told him that we were waiting for his famous line! We go back 11/23. For now, we just watch those numbers.
ReplyDeleteTo God Be The Glory! Love you, Dear JC Family - thank you for your prayers of believing with us! HAVE FUN, Audra!

DeleteHello JC family ~ I haven’t been on this site for a few days/ weeks now as Oct. flew by. I ask for pryr for many of you and your families as I catch up. Many praises! Much healing and for continued miracles to all through God’s abundance and perfect plan for each of us. May I ask for pryr for my mother (93) and sister who I am going to visit for 10 days. My mother is appearing to care for my sister who has moved herself in to my mother’s independent living in a spare bedroom on her own doing which is not ethical both for the facility and my mother who should not be caring for her demanding needs sadly. I pry for God’s love and Holy Spirit’s guidance w/ the help of a brother/sis in law and sister to seek wisdom to help especially my mother’s autonomy/ independence and to navigate/advocate for sister’s health/ well being. For God to break the ties of co-dependency and some display of toxicity on my sister’s part. God be the glory at this time of complexities and trials. Bless you all.

And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
While late to the game, I join my sisters and JC family in prayer for God to step in via the independent living facility social worker or someone there who can be of assistance to this situation, Katie. Praying for peace.
DeleteLove and Prayers to all of you, JC Fam.
ReplyDeleteHeading to bed - all cares cast to Him. Sleep sweet - God is on the Night Watch. Have to tell you - I lost a dear friend on Monday of this last week. . He gave it up and re: the Cancer fight, please pray for this wife and their two sons.
God Bless him; Lloyd gave his life: to his One True God, his lovely wife of 42 yrs and to their two sons. Please, join me in prayers b/c
I’m so sorry for your loss. May God comfort Lloyd’s dear wife and family and rest his beautiful and faithful soul.
ReplyDeleteToday’s devotion ends with: “True confidence comes from knowing you are complete in My Presence. Everything you need has its counterpart in Me.”
ReplyDeleteHe really is everything we need. Just knowing we belong to Him gives me confidence. I am never alone and I am more than a conqueror in Him. Yesterday was a challenge because I was so busy but I felt God’s presence and thanked Him through the day. I helped as much as I could with my beautiful newborn grandson and I took care of my sweet 2 yr old granddaughter, and I prepared the meals. Little Evelyn was good all day, and after I gave her a bath, read to her and gave her some milk, she went right to sleep. Dinner was easy. I just made a salad. Thank God I had already made stuffed shells. My son and daughter in love were very hungry and tired. It was a blessed day spending time with them all and I’m looking forward to the rest of the week. I have an appointment with my dermatologist on Friday morning but I will go to it and come right back. God is my strength and my confidence. He guides my life. We are all blessed!
He abides in us as we abide in Him. He knows our needs better than we do. He understands us completely and knows our deepest longings and desires. He knows we often fall short of pleasing Him but in His mercy He still gives us an A for effort. I couldn’t get through an hour without His grace, peace, love and mercy. I am so grateful He led me here to be a part of this amazing JC Family of believers. We all know where our Help comes from. We are of one accord and we’re grateful! May God answer our prayers and bless, heal, encourage, strengthen, guide, and comfort all of us and our loved ones. Thank You Father God for this in the Name of Christ Jesus. Amen
Psalm 37:4-6
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
Continued prayers for you dear Jeanne π. You certainly have a lot on your plate. Like I always say, " one bite at a time," " one day at a time," with dear Jesus holding the reigns! He's woven some joy & sweetness into your day with lots of cuddles with your grandbabies. Enjoyπππ❤️.
ReplyDeleteThank you warriors for prayers for DH. His knee is better. We can now go for a walk or two. We still need answers as what is to be done to address it. Blessings to each of you dear ones & more of Jesus today in your walks. πππ❤️
ReplyDeleteDear friends, I know many won’t see this because it is late in the morning for some, we are on the west coast. But I thank you for continued prayer for my daughter. She has decided to take a low dose chemo to decrease the # of cancer cells in her body. It is sad for her and us. And we could certainly use your prayers. Thank you.
ReplyDeletePicturing you with your family, Jeanne; you with yours, Audra and you, Brie praying for all of us with Larry near by. Ellen, I will continue to pray for your daughter and her decision and results. Jan, so glad that you and your DH can now take walks!
ReplyDeletePlease continue to pray for our daughter who still has no real answers. She went to the ER yesterday as the Dr. ordered but when she got there they told her they couldn't do the test he had ordered. "It's not something we do in the ER." That left me befuddled...it's a whole hospital! Take her to the unit that does them! But, they didn't. I just pray for her all of the time. When my heart clinches and I feel fear trying to creep in, I stop, do Bob's suggestion of breathing and pray in the spirit. She is at least requesting prayers now which is a sweet, welcome change.
I plan to work on our home today...switch the seasonal clothes, do laundry, relax, enjoy this lovely Autumn day.
As I read from years back, I give thanks for this wonderful JC Family and for Chris who put so much into this blog. We are allowed to see the growth in our families by reading back on all of the events, answered prayers, celebrations and comfort offered. We continue to go to our loving Father when we are in pain and receive His comfort just as we go to Him with our joy and He celebrates with us. It is because He loved us so that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes Him has life and has it more than abundantly!
Enjoy your day, Dear Family and know that all of you are in my prayers.
