Jesus Calling: October 7

In order to hear My voice, you must release all your worries into My care. Entrust to Me everything that concerns you. This clears the way for you to seek My Face unhindered. Let Me free you from fear that is hiding deep inside you. Sit quietly in My Presence, allowing My Light to soak into you and drive out any darkness lodged within you.
      Accept each day just as it comes to you, remembering that I am sovereign over your life. Rejoice in this day that I have made, trusting that I am abundantly present in it. Instead of regretting or resenting the way things are, thank Me in all circumstances. Trust Me and don't be fearful; thank Me and rest in My sovereignty.

I Peter 5:6-7
English Standard Version

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Psalm 118:24
English Standard Version

This is the day that the Lord has made;
    let us rejoice and be glad in it.

I Thessalonians 5:18
English Standard Version

give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

    2. 2 Timothy 1:7, for God has not given us a spirit of fear but of Power and of Love and of a Sound Mind.

      I believe this verse shows us the difference between the “spirit of fear” and God’s character which is Love and Power and a Sound Mind. They are polar opposite’s. Fear is a spirit that doesn’t come from God. When we are fearful we have no power, no Love to give nor a sound mind to make proper decisions.

  2. It has become my finding that when I RELAX in the presence of my Heavenly Father and surrender this body to him, I have no reason for worry and fear. I know that when I walk in his presence, taking his right hand and allowing him to guide me through the day, that my life will be blessed. Yes, I will have difficult times and issues to deal with through the day, but I also know that God will help walk me through those problems and lead me into the light of his presence. So there is no need for worry and fear.
    I thank my Heavenly Father each and every morning as I sit in his presence and spend my private time (Just God and Me) for all his love; grace; compassion and guidance. I thank him for hearing and answering my prayers. I thank him for blessing me with the opportunity to rise up each day and go out and serve him and helping other's in need. Thank You Jesus for all that You provide. Amen

    I think God always answers our prayers, but sometimes the answer is “no” or “not now”. He may not be doing what you are asking of him right now, but he is doing what is best for you. He will bring you to a place of peace in His perfect timing!!

      Imagine that the broom is Someone that you love

  22. THOUGHTS ON INTIMACY WITH OUR LORD

    Our Catholic brothers and sisters have been encouraged to use the Divine Office for their 'date' with God. Its structure is along the lines of what I shared with you yesterday. Those of you who are of Protestant background, you are likely to have provided for you through your church one of the variety of daily devotionals that are printed, all of which are very good. For me being raised Presbyterian, I learned to use those devotionals in my quiet time though my quiet time was more reading and reflection than it was prayer. Then in my forties (better late than never) I became exposed to some of the practices used in the Catholic church, one being the use of Divine Office. As stated yesterday, at first it was a bit overwhelming but as I stayed with it, I began to find my place in it. Over time, I have morphed what I used to practice with the discipline of Divine Office and those elements form the structure of my 'date' with our Lord. The one aspect that Divine Office has helped me most with, is the appreciation, development, and use of prayer in my relationship with God. As stated yesterday, in the coming days, I will be walking you through the steps of the structure of Divine Office. Though it originated and is most used in Catholicism, fear not if you are Protestant, there is no theology in a prayer book.

    You might give thought to the use of a resource in guiding your devotional time. Many years ago when first published, I received a free copy of the 'Magnificat' in the mail. It is a resource for morning and evening prayer along the lines of Divine Office; it also contains the readings of the day for daily mass. I began using it to provide a Spirit-led structure to my time with our Lord and it has become a regular part of my devotional time ever since. It helps fill in the steps of the process by providing hymns, psalms, scripture and meditation to the structure of my quiet time. It also has exposed me to aspects of the faith my Catholic brothers and sisters hold dear to which I have found a greater appreciation. This is not an infommercial, I am simply sharing a resource that has been most helpful to me. Do you have a publication that guides you in your devotional time? Please share so we may all learn from you.

    In conclusion, it is essential that we be led by the Holy Spirit in our devotional time but be cautious about only 'tuning in' to things that you like. To do so narrows the opening to which God's light is seeking to shine through to your heart.

    Be blessed my bro/sis! God be with you. With love, Bob

    4. Bob asks if we have a publication that guides us in devotional time. As I dive deeper into the Bible I have come to a series by N.T. 25. Loving Heavenly Father, I am grateful that You chose to talk to me and want me to hear Your voice. I want to live submissively, and continuously surrendering to Your will and Your way for my life. I know that it is always the best way for me. I cast all my cares on You, trust and find rest in Your Sovereignty. Thank You for Your grace that is sufficient for me. This is my prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.

    In any loving relationship, there should be an open dialogue with listening as the key. A full and vibrant walk with God is never complete without opened and deep listening. Jesus instructed us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, strength and mind. We are to listen to Him, relate to Him, learn from Him, speak to Him , draw near Him, and apply what He instructs. Prayer is speaking and relating to God. We also have the Word to rely on, because it’s through those pages that we hear Him speak to us. When faced with fear or worry, we can turn the pages and find His promises to take care of all our circumstances. Every single day, God offers to speak to us and guide us. We must accept that offer and be willing to have an adventure with joy and risk, but with freedom awaiting us in the end!
    One of life’s most valuable lessons, is listening to the voice of the Lord. Dr. Charles Stanley puts it this way: “Listening to God is Essential to Walking with God.”

    “See to it that you do not refuse Him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused Him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from Him who warns us from heaven?” (Heb. 12:25).

    “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.” (James 1:22-24)

    “Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

    Dear Father, We thank You for all the circumstances in our lives and ask that our ears be opened to hear Your small still voice reminding us that it is well! We thank You for Your magnificent Presence which is all we need for any challenge that may come our way. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

    Blessings and Peace.

    1. Wonderful post and prayer dear Maplewood. I really needed to pray your prayer. Just got back from a routine checkup with my Cardiologist. I hadn't been to him in many years. He said I'm just fine but since I have a tiny hole in my heart he want to do an Echo on me on the 23rd. He did say my EKG was not perfect but he also said he's not concerned about it in any way. So I will just stay in God's magnificent Presence and I am sure I will ace that Echo. God bless you for feeding me well and I agree that we must find a quiet time each day to listen to the small sweet voice of Jesus. He is such a Comfort to Me.

    BEACH DEVOTION: A RACE FOR THE KEYS
    FROM MATTHEW 16: And I will give you The Keys to The Kingdom of Heaven; whatever doors you open on earth shall be open in Heaven. And whatever doors you lock on earth shall he locked in Heaven!
    MY PRAYER FOR US:
    Sometimes the journey to the long awaited beachhouse includes patience. Patiently sitting in the car. Patiently waiting for restroom stops. Patiently awaiting meal and snack breaks. Patiently enduring "Are we there yet?" When the crew finally arrives at the beach home, clear the way, because then everyone scrambles and pleads for the honor of first.  First to open the door. First to pick a room. First to get swimming suit on. First to splash in the refreshing ocean waters. Ahhh! the Heavenly Joy for family life that week!
    BASKING AND CASTING!
    We BASK in His sun, sand and sea, lying exposed to His warmth and His Light from The Son, for relaxation and pleasure. We play and rest in His Supreme, Absolute Ultimate Sovereignty. We CAST all other concerns aside!
    The Kingdom of God is similar to our beach house destination. And Jesus gives us the Keys!
    Dear Heavenly Father God, Would You help us  spark the same joy and passion in our hearts? Would You help us race to be first in bringing our earth family into Heavenly realms? Would You help us do and say only those things on earth that have eternal significance in Heaven? Would You help us hold on to Your Keys so tightly that we do not give Your Keys back, even when we want to? Instead would You help us race to be first to open up Your Kingdom to someone, race to be first to unlock The Door for someone, race to be first to welcome them upon their arrival into Your Paradise? And race to be first to get the joy of basking and casting when we usher them in? Thank You for trusting us with The Keys to Your Kingdom. In our words AND in our works, would You  help us race to be first to always be thankful, kind, good, joyful, and prayerful, serving each other with humble spirits?  On behalf of our JC Prayer Warrior Family, I ask. I seek. I knock. I thank in Jesus' Name. Amen.
    WHEN YOU WANT TO HEAR MY VOICE, THEN RELEASE ALL OF YOUR SITUATIONS INTO MY CARE. CLEAR THE WAY BY ENTRUSTING TO ME EVERYTHING THAT CONCERNS YOU!

  35. Good Morning family,
    I have been reading and praying continuously for you and your dear ones, even from the down in the valley place, after hearing Keith's heart prognosis. I must continue holding onto our Savior's Hand as I count every blessing, and thank and praise Him from this vantage point. I ask His help to put today's devotion into action: In order to hear My voice, you must release all into My care. Entrust to Me everything that concerns you. This clears the way for you to seek My Face. Let Me free you from fear that is hiding deep inside you, robbing you of My Joy. Sit quietly in My Presence, allowing My Light to soak deeply into you and penetrate you until it glows from the inside to the outside. Consider me perched, Lord!
    Thank You for trusting us with The Keys to Your Kingdom, Lord. In good words AND in good works, would You help us race to be first to always be thankful, kind, good, joyful, and prayerful, serving each other with humble spirits? In Jesus's Name I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. I yield. Amen.
    Thanks for the group hug, Audra; I savored it!

  36. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:2). But may all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; may those who love Your salvation say continually, "Great is the LORD!" (Psalm 40:16). I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20).

    Heavenly Father, thank You for the sheer privilege of being in Your Presence. You are Almighty God. You are sovereign over all things and the Creator of everything. You are my Father, Lord, rock, redeemer, friend, love, provider, and Savior, today, tomorrow, and always. Please put Your everlasting, loving arms around me and remind me that all is good -- always! Thank You for everything. Let Your love light shine upon me and reveal and destroy any and all darkness that is within me. I give all my burdens and worries to You Lord. They are too heavy for me to carry. They weigh me down, but You lift me up with You. I cast all my cares upon You Lord. I praise You Lord always and continually. Thank You Jesus. You mean so very much to me. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

  41. I'm so very thankful to have this blog and all of you. We need each other. God designed the body of Christ to fit jointly together just as he designed our physical body. We are meant to work together, Enhancing each other's strengths and undergirding when someone is weak. Because we are flesh we can be both strong and weak at the same moment. Because we are God's children we are heirs to all that is his. We don't need to depend on our own strength or collapse our knee in weakness. Except when we are bending our knee before our Lord.
    Everyone is important in this body on this blog. Every anonymous, every unknown, every daily post, every weekly post, once a month or every blue moon post. They all matter, we all matter, YOU matter. Please don't ever feel that your contribution doesn't matter. Every post matters whether it's an amen, a heartfelt prayer or emptying yourself of your concerns and hurts. Every post matters. YOU MATTER you are loved by us and most importantly you are loved by the creator of heaven and earth. Who gave his life so you can be forgiven of your sins.

    Would the creator of all heaven and Earth give his life for you if you didn't matter? He bled and died for you, me and all of us. Every life matters!

  44. God tells us to rejoice in our trials because they test our faith and we must depend on Him to carry us through. Good exercise for our trust muscles. We must be patient because God is molding us through our hardships and challenges. I was trying to learn two hard songs for Choir and I forgot to call my son back on his Birthday. I only spoke to him briefly because we were babysitting. And when I remembered, it was too late to call him. I let him down. I am so very imperfect. I make mistakes, and sometimes I forget to do things that are important because I get distracted. Then I feel so bad. I called out to the Lord and told Him how I feel. He understands my frustrations and discouragements and also my weaknesses. My prayer is often: Make me a better person. Every new day is a chance to make things right. God blesses us with wisdom and understanding to resolve our problems and smooth out the wrinkles of life. His gifts to us are so much more valuable than anything this world can give us. Going to sleep now in His peace. Looking forward to making things right tomorrow.
    Philippians 4:6-7
    Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
    James 1:2-5
    My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

    I still get blown away, wow'd at the thought that the Lord of all creation wants to be actively engaged in every element of our day.
    "casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."
    Might take a while, that. After casting the top layer - the ones that go round and round throughout the day, the layer below comes to the surface. And so it goes, layer after layer. Suddenly, I get peace, I am at peace. His Peace that passes all understanding envelopes me.

    1. Amen. I love mornings. I love these moments to arise and start anew. To start my day completely focused on Him. As the words state today, "Let His Light soak into me." And as you have said, it results in us proclaiming -- O Lord My God, You are Amazing. My past has not been what I want it to be. I have not centered myself on Him, aligned myself with Him in each moment. I get off track. I bring idols into my life and ever so subtly and slowly they start taking more and more of a place of prominence in my life to the point that my days are no longer about Him, but all about Me. So right now - I return to Him with all my heart shouting to Him You are amazing. You are holy Forever God! I'm loving this tune -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkHgxKemCRk

      Dear Chris, When we fall out of favor, our loving Father calls us back and gently lifts us up and out of the mess we made because we let go of His Hand and started to follow the world and the flesh. Jesus was tempted and affected by His human emotions and He felt all the physical, emotional and mental pain we do so Ge really understands. He lovingly puts us right back on the straight and narrow because He is merciful and He reads our hearts of repentance and He really cares. Last night when I was trying to sleep. I told Jesus I was sorry for not making my son’s birthday more special and I asked Him to forgive me and make things right. Then I told Him how much I love Him and need Him and I asked that He wrap me up in His peace. And I felt it and I went right to sleep in His loving Arms. He is so good.
      I’ll listen to that song now! Thanks πŸ™

Both boys made cards for him. He enjoyed his Birthday lunch in the city with Erica. She made him an Apple Pie for his Birthday and they will have it tonight. He loved the finger puppets I sent him. Rick and In are planning to visit them at the end of the month. So sad that I can’t even say “God bless you” to them. They asked me not to since they don’t believe in God. 55. I have a very sweet story to tell and a victory to celebrate. My sister's son and wife have a little boy who is 3, and she was pregnant about a year and a half ago and lost the child. They were devastated and after a while, started to try again but they just couldn't get pregnant. We just kept praying every day. Janet was so discouraged because they just couldn't conceive. Well for the last few months, every time I prayed that she would get pregnant, I had a feeling that it would be very soon. I really felt God's assurance about it. Last week, Janet was depressed for a lot of reasons and one was that Stephanie couldn't get pregnant. I told her: I believe Stephanie is going to tell you she is pregnant very very soon. Well today Janet told me Stephanie is pregnant with a little girl. Hallelujah. I told her that God is sooooo faithful and I told God: Thank you sooooo much! Wow that was really fast!
    He is our Way Maker and nothing is too hard for him. Got my victory shoes on and I'm so grateful for God's faithfulness and mercy.

  56. This devotion was what I needed. As my Mom is getting weaker and losing so much weight, I am holding onto God’s Hand and calling out to Jesus all through the day. She is 76 pounds and so very unsteady on her feet. She can hardly get up from sitting. My Mom is such a mighty prayer warrior. Now that she is in pain and wants to die, she keeps calling out to Jesus to take her. It breaks my heart but I know she is 95 and she is so loved by everyone especially God so I will be relieved when she finally is called Home. God is Sovereign and I am resting in Him. I thank Him for these precious days with my Mom even though they are so difficult. He knows my heart is breaking to see her suffering. But her eternal reward will be worth it.
    Father God, In your mercy, ease my Mom’s pain and call her Home soon, but Your will, not ours. Thank You Jesus.

  60. Psalm 27
    1 The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear?
    The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
    of whom shall I be afraid?

    2 When the wicked advance against me to devour me,
    it is my enemies and my foes
    who will stumble and fall.

    3 Though an army besiege me,
    my heart will not fear;
    though war break out against me,
    even then I will be confident.

    4 One thing I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
    that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
    to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
    and to seek him in his temple.

    5 For in the day of trouble
    he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
    he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.

    6 Then my head will be exalted
    above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord.

    7 Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
    be merciful to me and answer me.

    8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face Your face, Lord, I will seek.

    9 Do not hide your face from me,
    do not turn your servant away in anger;
    you have been my helper.
    Do not reject me or forsake me,
    God my Savior.

    10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
    the Lord will receive me.

    11 Teach me your way, Lord;
    lead me in a straight path
    because of my oppressors.

    12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations.

    13 I remain confident of this:
    I will see the goodness of the Lord
    in the land of the living.

    14 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

  66. Prayer for Putting on the Armor of God
    Lord Jesus, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God because I know that my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world. Thank you that you have made it possible for me to be strong in your mighty power and to stand against all that the evil one would throw against me this day.
    In Jesus Name, I put on the belt of truth and pray that I may be centered in and encircled by your truth today. By your power, enable me to walk in your truth and to give no place to deception or the lies of the enemy. Protect me by the truth of your Word.
    I put on the breastplate of righteousness. I praise you, Lord Jesus, that I am covered with your righteousness today in my body, soul and spirit. I now pray that by the power of the Holy Spirit, my life would show forth the righteous fruit of Your presence. Guard my heart, for it is the wellspring of life (Proverbs 4:23). Strengthen and protect the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good and noble so I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy.
    I put on the shoes of peace. I choose to stand on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ and the good news of his amazing grace. In Jesus’ name, I claim over my heart and mind the peace of God that transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:7). I cast down every anxious thought today, and as I walk in the gospel of peace, I pray that you would make me ready to share your good news with others.
    I take up the shield of faith this day and in your name, I extinguish every dart and arrow by which the enemy would seek to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, or emotionally. I lift the shield of faith against every arrow directed at me, my family, my business, my possessions, or any part of my domain. I bind every fearful thought in Jesus’ name and choose rather to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
    I put on the helmet of salvation and pray that you would protect my mind from thoughts that could lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive to Jesus Christ and to reject any thought that is not from You (2 Corinthians 10:5). Transform my mind by the power of your Word and grant me a hope-saturated mind so that I may truly overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13). This day, in the name of Jesus, I bind and refuse all depressed, despairing, and defeated thinking.
    Finally, I take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Please give me the insight, wisdom, and revelation to wield your Word skillfully against every scheme of the enemy. Thank you that your Word on my lips has the power to defeat every attack of the enemy!
    Thank you, Lord Jesus, for equipping me with everything I need to win my battles this day! I praise you that I am protected today by the armor of God. I now claim your promise that no weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). In Jesus’ mighty name, amen!

  67. I’m at my oldest son’s house sleeping on the couch. Evelyn was a good little girl yesterday. We had a nice time together. And Bryan and Allie were able to put up curtain rods and curtains in their room and the baby’s room. Although Allie isn’t due till the 28th, she is heavy with child and so uncomfortable because the baby has dropped. She told me she had some cramps a couple of days ago. I did my best to take care of Evelyn. I was able to get her showered and ready for bed. I read to her and gave her some milk and put her into her crib. And she was soon asleep. I prayed with Allie and Bryan that she would have a smooth delivery of a healthy baby. We talked a lot and it was a special time I will always remember. Thank you for praying with me that all goes well when the new baby finally arrives. God knows we are all trusting in His faithfulness and waiting on Him.
    Father God, You are all knowing and all powerful and Your promises are true. We ask that you give dear Allie a smooth delivery of a healthy baby boy and that Bryan, Allie and Evelyn will be so blessed by this baby. Guide me to be a great help to them when I stay with them the first week after they return home. Thank you for guiding our words, thoughts and actions, give us rest and strength, and make all things right for us and our families and also answer our prayers and the prayers of this JC Family in the powerful Name of Christ Jesus. We are covered by His Blood, Your promises and Your Word. Amen.

    Romans 8:28
    And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

    Proverbs 3:5-6
    Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    And lean not on your own understanding;
    In all your ways acknowledge Him,
    And He shall direct your paths.

    1. Standing with and remembering and praying for the nation of Israel, Jewish friends and acquaintances, many of whom are brothers and sisters in Christ; especially today, 1 year after the tragedy of the horrific attack and escalated attacks against the sovereign state of Israel.

      Jeremiah 31:35-37 AMPC
      35 "Thus says the Lord, Who gives the sun for a light by day and the fixed order of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, Who stirs up the sea’s roaring billows or stills the waves when they roar—the Lord of hosts is His name:
      36 If these ordinances [of fixed order] depart from before Me, says the Lord, then the posterity of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before Me throughout the ages.
      37 Thus says the Lord: If the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, then I will cast off all the offspring of Israel for all that they have done, says the Lord."
      1 Kings 6:12 AMP
      "I will dwell among the sons (descendants) of Israel, and will not abandon My people Israel."

    2. Thank you brother Peter for sharing these truths about God's beloved Israel, the apple of His eye. We must continue to pray for the opening of her heart for the Messiah. 71. Requesting prayer for my daughter-in-law who is taking her Class 3 driving road test today. She applied for our city fire department almost a year ago. They had over 2000 applicants. During the last year she has gradually made it up through those ranks and is now one of about 200 of which 150 will be hired for a probationary job with the fire department. She will need this class 3 license as part of the employment requirement. We are very proud of her and how well she has done to date with advanced first aid courses, written tests, and interviews.
    Thank you for praying with us for His peace and protection to cover her as she maneuvers this truck through all the processes required.
