Jesus Calling: November 15

Approach problems with a light touch. When your mind moves toward a problem area, you tend to focus on that situation so intensely that you lose sight of Me. You pit yourself against the difficulty as if you had to conquer it immediately. Your mind gears up for battle, and your body becomes tense and anxious. Unless you achieve total victory, you feel defeated.
There is a better way. When a problem starts to overshadow your thoughts, bring this matter to Me. Talk with Me about it and look at it in the Light of My Presence. This puts some much-needed space between you and your concern, enabling you to see from My perspective. You will be surprised at the results. Sometimes you may even laugh at yourself for being so serious about something so insignificant.
You will always face trouble in this life. But more importantly, you will always have Me with you, helping you to handle whatever you encounter. Approach problems with a light touch by viewing them in My revealing light.

Psalm 89:15
English Standard Version
Blessed are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O Lord, in the light of your face

John 16:33
English Standard Version
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

My Prayer (2022)
Lord, thank you for being with me as I go about my day, as I experience situations, as I am with people, as I come upon difficult situations. You are with me Holy Spirit, guiding me and directing me. I need not be afraid. There are times when things happen that are such a challenge to me. Thank you God for being with me, for showing me that even in these circumstances there is peace. I want to continually walk O Lord in the light of your face.

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. Thank you LORD, for this gentle reminder.

    3. We sing that in choir too. Every problem we have seems smaller when we realize He is with us every step of the way. No one
or any situation can rob us of His peace. We have a very present help. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in this world.

  2. I find that when I am in a whirlwind of nonsense as my life is right now I have to focus more on HIM and less on me. He is in control of ALL of it.. just have to let go and let God.

  3. Heavenly Father, Thank you for always being there for me. Thank you for Paul's reminder that I can do all things through You, who gives me strength. I pray Lord that when I encounter hard times and challenges in life, that I stop and ask for your help and Your presence in every situation. As I face mountains that may come before me, I pray not to move the mountains, but rather, pray that You help me take one step in front of the other and climb the mountains with Your guidance. I am reminded of the many hard climbs in life that I have loathed, and with Your help, have resulted in satisfying and breathtaking views of life.

    1. A beautiful prayer with a very godly perspective. God be with you, Jeff, as you continue to climb mountains, God be with us all as mountains are inevitable. With our Lord, the mountains are brought low, the rough places made smooth and the crooked becomes straight just as Isaiah prophesied. All praise and thanksgiving to God. 6. I woke up early and went back to Nov. 8th - feels like that was a months ago and yet, by re-reading, I am able to lift you Suzanne and now, Rubyfusion in prayer.
As the holidays approach, I again find myself yearning for the 'simpler' days, when surprises for the kids were the main things on my mind. Now everything seems to have a $ sign, reminding me, that we don't have the income we once had.
We all seem to be missing something or someone dearly. "You pit yourself against the difficulty as if you had to conquer it immediately. Your mind gears up for battle, and your body becomes tense and anxious. Unless you achieve total victory, you feel defeated." My 'defense' seems to be to go to bed earlier and earlier, which means I wake up earlier.
I am giving all the cares and concerns to Him who cares more. Father, let our hearts be light as we focus on the man healings that have taken place and still are, even as I pray.
10-4, I am praying for you and your wife. My husband and I have been there (several years ago, my husband was on IV antibiotics for well over a month - it was a very hard time for him. My daughter had a leg wound that she still has nightmares over, even though it is long gone).
And, I'm sure even then, I was figuring a budget wondering where it would all come from.
None of it matters as much now as we are through it. It taught me compassion for this present time.
Today is a new day, filled with promise from our Lord. Renew our strength, Father; remind us of Your never ending love, mercy, grace and peace. Let me feel light-hearted over insignificant issue such as event dates, parties, gifts, gatherings and focus on what really matters. And, bless the hearts of those going through lonely times. Fill that gap for them with Your love and presence.
All of you are in my prayers along with all of my family.
    God Bless,

    5. So here I am when awakened by intrusive light from my neighbors house, during what I prefer would be restful sleep time. I tell myself, 'pick up the blog, take a little time on the night watch.'
BAM! Right out the gate, a reading that his the nail on the head.
Finding the humor in having "light" as a problem. Thank you Lord, for the reminder that you are always with me, and to LIGHTEN up about this issue. Spending time talking with you is a far better use of my energy than plotting and imagining and rehearsing a conversation with my neighbors about this issue. So, JC peeps, praying for you all as I turn back to my pillow bathed in the LIGHT. ❤️

  9. Good morning, friends.
As I read here this morning, I see how small a world this really is. Suzanne and Rubyfusion, my wife of 18 months decided she didn’t want to be married anymore and abruptly left at the end of January. I was devastated to the point of suicide. This past September marked the 4 yr. anniversary of my first wife’s passing, (we were married for 20 years). I had nowhere and no one to turn to except Jesus. He was all I had left. In the months since, His hands have scooped me up and walked me through the fire. Looking back, I see the evidence everywhere of His amazing grace and care. The culmination of these events has been a strengthening of my faith which I didn’t think was possible. He has shown me over and over how much he loves me, in spite of what my anxious mind believed. I’ve been in therapy for the better part of a year and have eased through the muck of my heart to find that I am standing on a foundation that cannot be shaken. And although I still have days where my anxiety eats my lunch, more often than not, I am gently guided by the Spirit and reminded that while people may fail me, my loving Father will not. Ever. Jesus knew rejection. He understands what that looks like for us. He knows what our pains are. And He rewards our faith.
I often think that because I’m a few months away from 50, that there may not be a person out there for me to spend my rime with. I am then reminded that He is really all I need. Do I miss intimacy? Sure. But this time alone has taught me some valuable lessons about myself. Number one being that I am a child of God! He loves me more than my earthly mind can comprehend. And His peace, which surpasses all understanding covers us, even in the darkest of days.
I wrote two poems. One is called ‘The day she left’ the other is called ‘Affirmations’. After I wrote them, I was encouraged by people close to me to share them, so, I started a blog page called can-I-share.com and posted them there. Feel free to check it out.
I’m not trying to advertise my website, I just want to let you both know that there are people who have walked the road that you are on. We understand as perhaps few can what it feels like. Also to let you know that our Heavenly Father has a plan for each us. The experiences I’ve been through have placed me in a unique position to be helpful to others. And maybe this is one of those times.

God, I come before you thankful for your grace. That You are who You say You are and that that You do what You say You’ll do. I lift up Suzanne and Rubyfusion to you. Comfort them with Your peace and hold them up in Your mighty arms. Help us to see ourselves as You see us - Your beloved children. Walk with us today and guide to the paths that you would have us walk. Let our hearts be open to the spirit and Your guidance. In the Holy name of Jesus, my Lord and Savior, amen.

God bless everyone today. Happy Friday!

    1. Hi, Dave. I was a little out of my routine today, as I took a little road trip with my daughter for a college visit day. So I didn't check in with this blog until late in the day. I'm so glad I did! Your story is powerful and your prayer is such a comfort. Thank you for taking the time to share your story here. I love that you have started a blog, too. I will check it out this weekend. So many thoughts in my weary head this evening...and none nearly as eloquent as the prayers of this beautiful JC family. So I'll just say goodnight and God's blessings on you all as you rest in Him.

  12. Today is Friday, the end of the work week for some of us. Its a day we all look forward to, knowing that the next day (Saturday) is rest of some sort from our workforce. But it doesn't matter what day it is because each day is a day of Thanksgiving, a day to be grateful for, a day to magnify the name of the LORD and even Praise and Worship HIM while we work. So dear Lord, whatever this day have in store for us, help us to never loose sight of You. May we be reminded that all our battles are Yours to fight and we stand tall when we fight it with You on our knees. May the Holy Spirit take control of our thoughts and lead us into communication with You so that we can see ALL of our problems and concerns in the Light of Your Presence!
May the Joy of Your Presence be our strength and take us back to one of Your promises, which happens to be one of my trusted go to scriptures and is a fit reminder of today's devotion:
Isaiah 43:2(NKJV) "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you".
I can Never get tired of repeating this verse because I will always face trouble in this world, 'But more importantly, I will always have YOU with me, helping me to handle whatever I encounter.

My JC Family, may we 'Approach problems with a light touch by viewing them in God's revealing light"!

Brie and Audra, We know that the light always shines brighter in the darkness. His light is like bright sun on a dark and stormy day! Like a breath of fresh air in a stuffy room. Like the sweet taste of cool water on a dry throat. His light and love are the best part of every moment.

    7. Was walking today and it was gray an overcast and I was thinking I really needed a sunny day to bring up my spirits. I was praying as I walked as I always do and I was going down a long road and all of a sudden in this dark dismal cloudy day there was bright light right where I was walking but not anywhere else. I looked up to the right between two houses and a large spot of sun shone bright. I just stood there looking at it. I even took a photo. I said thank you Lord. And I watched as the clouds started to cover it. But it was my gift from God! A bright light to lift me, even just for a few minutes. I was walking in the presence of the Lord and He reminded me. What a wonderful surprise.

  13. I am blessed to come upon this blog. I need the fellowship of believers everyday. I'm at my 86 year old mom's house and it's cold for Southern California-58! It's my day to be her caregiver. My life has been rushing from one place to take care of somebody to back home to subbing to one problem to the next. I didn't take time to bring my copy of Jesus Calling. I searched and found this and it's better being able to read all the posts. You all help me with your sharing and caring. I'm realizing how I've avoided dealing with my issues by taking care of others. I'm exhausted and getting resentful. I bring it upon myself. Everyday problems are like running a marathon because I try to figure it all out myself for others. I don't take care of myself. I'm starting therapy. I'm seeking Jesus and His strength. Most of time I am rushing from one thing to next. When I get to my home I'm exhausted and I don't have time or energy to cook , clean, wash, shop, spend time in the Word etc.. I tell Jesus I give up and He helps me get through the day. Now washing machine died, car problems, incomes reduced and we have 2 sons in college. I worry about their choices, my mom's medical treatment, her finances, our finances, and my husband commutes and works 12 hour days. Compared to many people in this world I am extremely blessed. Yet somethings wrong and I'm grateful to read all the posts and how people have been through tough times and loneliness like me. Thank you!

  15. My mind is busy trying to assimilate the message God wants me to get from all the prayers and praises posted here. I looked out the window this morning to the busy intersection behind our home. We're retired and now a spectator of the goings on. I used to take notice of aging persons that seemed to become more spiritual. Many of my contemporaries are passing to the life we have been promised. The closer I get to that time, the more real it becomes and I can identify with that spirituality. If I have regrets for my life, it's that I allowed the business of living this earthly life to cloud the vision of eternal life that He has promised. My prayer is that I can live the remainder of my life in a way that will mirror the promises that God has given us.

I have always carried Jesus with me but not really focusing on eternal life as I do now ; it took me too long, made alot mistakes along the way but by the grace of God, thank you Jesus. I dont deserve it but still you gave it abundantly. Lord, have mercy on our children and grandchildren; open their eyes so they can see your face.

I am blessing The Name of God with all my heart. Yes, I am blessing The Lord at all times and remembering all the Glorious Things He Does for me. He Forgives. He Heals. He Ransoms. He Surrounds me with Lovingkindness and Tender Mercies. He Fills my life with good things. He Renews my youth like the eagle's. He Reveals His will. He is full of Kindness and Love.

    ๐Ÿ™ THANKSGIVING PRAYER FOR US:
Dear Heavenly Father God, Thank You for the equal importance You give when we pray our way through the day, as when we pray at set aside time. When we think of how we'd feel if our children would regularly say, "I just called to say I love you" or "I just stopped by to say I appreciate you. You're awesome!" in addition to set aside holidays like Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthdays, Thanksgiving Day, Easter and Christmas, then we realize, Hey, we are Your Children, and perhaps you'd love both pray our way through the day prayers plus set aside time prayers from us for us. Would You help us take every opportunity to tell You how wonderful You are? And how wonderfully blessed we are to have You? How much security and joy we experience surrounded by Your Goodness?  And to give You both anytime, anywhere prayers along with set aside prayer times?
In Jesus' Name I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. Amen

Lord, the light of your love is shining

Set us free by the truth you now bring us

    3. Norah and Audra, by bathing you both in night light, perhaps God's Holy Spirit was preparing you for today's devotion?
Approach problems with a light touch.
I also thought about you both while reading ✝️ Psalm 139: 11-12, When I try to hide in the darkness, then the night becomes morning light all around me. For even darkness of night shines as bright as day because Darkness and Light are both alike to You, O God.

  23. Most Gracious Loving Father, This morning, I have so much to thank You for. Words can never express the gratitude I feel. It doesn't matter what comes my way, my life is in Your hands. You are the way Maker and the problem Solver. Like the Psalmist, I declare this grateful praise:

"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations."(Psalm 100).

Sunday Blessings and Peace to all.

  38. "Approach problems with a light touch."
A Word in season for me today.
A grandson, at 17 still a minor, has been waitering evenings at a burger restaurant.
Out of the fifty hours worked he got paid twenty; also cost of uniform deducted.
The manager and owner is giving him the runaround, avoiding meetings, not answering phone calls, ignoring text messages and emails. I suspect many of the kids waitering there are being treated similarly.
I have difficulty in restraining myself; my initial reaction to this injustice is to go there and sort it out - we all want to protect our own. Then I read today's Jesus Calling and 'gearing up for battle' is exactly how I feel.
Instead of my initial response I'm now taking onboard today's advice; "There is a better way. When a problem starts to overshadow your thoughts, bring this matter to Me."
Ok Lord, I bring Alex my grandson and this matter of short pay to You. I am incensed at this injustice in taking advantage of a young teenager. So I bring this matter to You, talking to You about it, asking for Your help, looking at this situation in the light of Your presence. Bring Your Peace to us I pray, and right this wrong. Thank You Jesus, Amen.
Thank you Janet for the scripture you posted "Cast your burdens on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22)"

  39. Good morning friends. I take this post to heart, as it is so important to approach problems with a light touch and bring them to God before i get all worked up trying to solve them. This includes relationship issues with my husband where I forget to pause, and invite God in. After 49 years together, we know where to push each other’s buttons. I am inspired by my 99 yr old mom. She lives in assisted living, sleeps often, awakes for meals, and prays. When I wake her from a sleep no matter when I come, she starts talking to Jesus right away….”Thank you Jesus, I am so blessed, etc.”. She is a living Saint. So positive, thankful, and joyful. I am blessed to be her daughter.

  46. How blessed we are to have a very present Help in these difficult times. So much to do and so many people who need us. But God is our strength and salvation and our song. He is right there with us to lead us through the wilderness. I feel Him very close to me, and He sure knows my voice. I'm like David calling out to Him. Hear my cry. Incline Your Ear to me. He does and I know He understands.

    Psalm 40:1
    I waited patiently for the Lord;
    And He inclined to me,
    And heard my cry.

    Psalm 34:17-19
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,

    1-2 I look up to the mountains;
does my strength come from mountains?
No, my strength comes from God,
who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.

3-4 He won’t let you stumble,
your Guardian God won’t fall asleep.
    Not on your life! Israel’s
Guardian will never doze or sleep.

    5-6 God’s your Guardian,
right at your side to protect you—
    Shielding you from sunstroke,
    sheltering you from moonstroke.

7-8 God guards you from every evil,

  56. Such a busy day yesterday. But God led me through it all. Even helped me make a big pot of chicken soup. I tried to make my mom happy and stayed with her all day but I stayed up late unpacking some of my stuff. Rick is coming tomorrow to stay over because we have his brother Jimmy’s funeral on Saturday morning. My brother Tommy is coming to stay with our mom while we go there. He is very kind to help us. He’s also planning to stay here on 12/7 so we can attend a large memorial get together to celebrate Jimmy’s life. Death is part of life but it hurts so much to lose our loved ones. Thanks for your prayers for Jimmy’s wife and family. We will all miss him very much. His good wife Michelle is all alone now and her son and DIL and baby granddaughter live in a different state. May God cover them all with a blanket of comfort, and rest Jimmy’s beautiful soul. Thank You Father for this in Jesus’ Name. Amen
    Took this from today’s devotion.
“You will always face trouble in this life. But more importantly, you will always have Me with you, helping you to handle whatever you encounter.”
We are blessed to have our Lord and Savior always by our sides. I’m resting in Him because He really understands how I feel. Have a sweet and fruitful day in His presence and peace. May He continue to answer our prayers and strengthen and heal us and our loved ones in body, mind and spirit. Thank You Jesus.

    Revelation 21:4
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

  60. Asking for trifecta prayers my JC family of fierce warriors! My 3 closest friends have all been diagnosed with cancer. Jamie over this past year, Stephanie last month and Betsy "Bets" just told me Monday even though she's known since mid-October wanting just to turn inward and be alone...which of course I understand and respect. Jamie has been on a mighty course of holistic treatments and feels better than she has in years believing from deep in her soul that God has healed her. Stephanie is still trying to be accurately diagnosed. The wheels of this happening are moving like molasses in January. Very infuriating to say the least. She is finally receiving more testing that will finally pinpoint and confirm her diagnosis...but Steph wasn't waiting for the dx but immediately began a holistic treatment regimen. Bets is finding out more today knowing only it's lung cancer with emphysema. She was a smoker and did stop but it didn't stop this dx from happening. She is so mad at herself and just bawled yesterday upon reading the biopsy findings. All three of my dear friends are strong believers and believe in the power of prayer.

During my work day Wednesday, I was running a couple of errands during lunch and was asking God out loud why. Why all three of my friends?! Almost instantaneously I heard in return, "because you will have a trifecta testimony of my healing to share with others". Cannot explain it other than it being God...and I believe it to my core.

So, would you be so kind as to add Jamie, Steph, and Bets to your prayers. They (and myself) would be so very grateful.

"Yea, though I walk THROUGH the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for You are with me!"

And while a weapon is trying to form in them IT WILL NOT PROSPER! Jehovah Rapha is bringing them all through this!

As Jeanne quoted: “You will always face trouble in this life. But more importantly, you will always have Me with you, helping you to handle whatever you encounter.”

Thank you in advance for your prayers, Mighty Warriors! Blessings to you and yours!
