Jesus Calling: November 27

Let thankfulness rule in your heart. As you thank Me for blessings in your life, a marvelous thing happens. It is as if scales fall off your eyes, enabling you to see more and more of My glorious riches. With your eyes thus opened, you can help yourself to whatever you need from My treasure house. Each time you receive one of My golden gifts, let your thankfulness sing out praises to My Name. "Hallelujahs" are the language of heaven, and they can become the language of your heart.
A life of praise and thankfulness becomes a life filled with miracles. Instead of trying to be in control, you focus on Me and what I am doing. This is the power of praise: centering your entire being in Me. This is how I created you to live, for I made you in My own image. Enjoy the abundant life by overflowing with praise and thankfulness.

Colossians 3:15
English Standard Version
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Acts 9:18
English Standard Version
And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized.

Revelation 19:3-6
English Standard Version
Once more they cried out,“Hallelujah!
The smoke from her goes up forever and ever.”

And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who was seated on the throne, saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!” And from the throne came a voice saying,
“Praise our God,
    all you his servants,
you who fear him,
    small and great.”

Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,
“Hallelujah!
For the Lord our God
    the Almighty reigns.

Psalm 100:4-5
English Standard Version
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
    and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!

For the Lord is good;
    his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

My Prayer
Lord, you are good and for what you give me, I am most thankful. Thank you for Bruce and his friendship and coming over to play games with Pamela and I. Thank you for the home project I could work on, the home you have provided and the chance to learn how to do something, like repair rot, even though it is something I continue to not understand well and I have little confidence in. Thank you for Pamela having a day to just sew. Thank you for the friends Derek has as well as Tyson. Thank you for Megan's job. Thank you for providing us what we need. Thank you for giving me a job and setting a priority to give you the tithe I can now give the church. Help me Lord each day to thank you more and more for what you provide, good or bad. Everything I have is because of You and this needs to be acknowledge more in my life.

  1. Too often the Church and her leadership is preoccupied with getting God's people to behave. This devotional thought and the accompanying scriptures show the behavior the Lord desires of His children, a heart filled with praise and thanksgiving. When/If we get this right, we will behave quite naturally in all the ways the Church calls us to behave. Being Christlike will be so much easier.

  2. Heavenly Father, Thank you for all that You do for us and all the gifts you give us each and every day. Lord, I pray for a more grateful heart and that You would give me eyes to see and ears to hear all that You do for us. Help me seek your presence and your will for me this day and be grateful instead of seeking control over outcomes throughout this day.
    Hallelujah!

  3. "His steadfast love endures forever." Hallelujah! He loved me and you even when we think what we have done is unworthy of His love. Having children game me a totally new and different understanding of loving like the Father does for us. Father Son and Holy Spirit, I pray that we can understand the depth of your love for all and hope to grow more in emulating it. Amen

  5. The last sentence: “Enjoy the abundant life by overflowing with praise and thanksgiving.” It is really that simple. Complexity is a result of fallen human nature. Simplicity finds its origin in God. It always has been that way and it will forever be that way. Come, my brother, my sister, let us delight in the Lord.

    1. Amen Bob. What God asks of us is so simple just to come together in love and delight in His law. If we love one another, trust God and do good, God is pleased and our needs will be met and the world will be a better place.

  8. As we enter this season meant to celebrate God's gift to us, we are so often distracted by the hustle and bustle of the celebration. The world ignores Christ completely and lives for the party. Lord, help us to focus on the reason for the season: Your gift to us of Your Son Jesus Christ. Thank you for sending Him to reveal Your plan for our eternity.

  10. Every 10 years, one gets to "enjoy" drinking medicine at 230 a.m. for a routine diagnostic procedure later this morning. But, in reading the devo for today, it reminds me to be thankful in all things - even being up in the middle of the night.

Thankful for the training and education of my doctor, who happens to be a tremendous Christian and a good friend. Thankful that diagnostics were developed to find illnesses far in advance of symptoms so that disease can be eliminated. Thankful for our country and the great American experiment that produced the most generous and affluent nation ever... that while imperfect, gives so much to the world. Thankful for this community and its ability to stay out of politics, squabbles, and while mostly anonymous, create a sense of what Jesus emulated with his friends and followers. Thankful for God in His ability to change this weak and often sinful follower each day through grace.

Praying that this day before Thanksgiving 2019 that each of you safely arrive to a fellowship of peace with your family, friends, or in service to strangers less fortunate. Godspeed. Happy Thanksgiving. In His Holy Name, Amen.

  19. Very brief update, an outside only Thanksgiving with a 3 adult kids and our DIL. Went great as was 70 high today. Shared with them, my latest lab results at the finishing today of cycle 1 chemo and steroids. Primary MM blood markers were in normal range showing definite progress against disease. However, expect some regression with the week of rest from oral chemo and IV. So definitely a high point to date and a positive... but must manage setbacks and low points and stay the course for 3 more cycles.

God has heard many prayers on my behalf including the JC Warriors. The prayers for healing and a good adjustment to the process were answered. I'm grateful and hope that His Instruments of healing in drugs, genetic research, and the Team Madfox medical team, continue to find success. Thank you for praying alongside me in that regard in advance. In His name and Amen.

    Hallelujah, hallelujah, glory hallelujah
I’m going to praise His name
    Hallelujah, hallelujah, glory hallelujah
    Gonna let His praises ring
Everyday walking by my side, my every step He’ll guide.

    Everyday while I’m walking along,
I know I’m in His care
    Jesus is walking with me,
while my friends and enemies stare
How can I be angry when my God abides within?
    I, I, I don’t care,
I’m just gonna praise His name

    Chorus

Trouble I don’t mind no more,
    since I’m in His fold
Satan can’t harm me now, (because) God has all control

      JOY IS A DECISION!
John 10: 10 states, I AM come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. We can choose to enjoy the life Jesus came to give us; we can also choose not to. Thankfully we alone can decide to be happy right here and right now on the journey to where we are going; or we can decide not to. As Sassy Mom has so often said, Put on the Armor of God before we get out of bed. With our eyes open, we can help ourself to whatever we need from God Our Father's treasure house, including Joy. Only we can declare out loud, I am going to enjoy this day that my Lord has made; I have made up my mind that I am going to keep His Joy today, even if satan's joy thieves try to rob me!

♥πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™♥ Dear Heavenly Father God, Thank You for giving us the choice to celebrate Your Goodness and enjoy the life You have given us. Would you help us choose wisely? Choose You? and  Choose Joy? Would You help us use the power of praise and center our praises around You? Would You help us live like You created us to live? Enjoying the abundant life by overflowing with praise and thanks giving to You?

    Bless the Lord, O my soul;

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
    Who forgives all your iniquities,
    Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,

    For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103).

So good to hear your update, MadFox! My hubby and I marvel at the changes made in just 6 short years. Our prayers go before you on this next round and we trust you will handle it all, that your body continues to respond and that someday, you will be guiding someone else through these procedures, reminding them how God can do ANYTHING!
Loved everyone's description of their day yesterday - a new 'style' for most of us. Brie, the DYSFUNCTION JUNCTION of Zoom was exactly what happened with us! I missed a call from an unknown number while napping yesterday. I can only think that it was THE Zoom call that we had planned. It never happened but the texting was rampant. Later in the some of the fam that we see almost daily came in with some of the Grands and more food than we could possibly eat. Movies, games (the Littles can make a game out of anything!), and fun conversations lasted into the night. I fell in bed amazed that I was so ready to sleep (again!), but I had a long uninterrupted rest that left me ready to tackle this house today. Bob, your sharing about removing clutter inspired me again this year!
Praying for perfect testing for you BFF and Jeanne. Re-reading your list of blessings, Maplewood. Trusting in the Lord with all of my heart that my loved ones are all safe, blessed and healthy. " A life of praise and thankfulness becomes a life filled with miracles." JC

  33. ... but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your hearts to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to our God and Father. (Ephesians 5:18-20). Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise -- the fruit of lips that openly profess His name. (Hebrews 3:15). Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:15).

  34. Heavenly Father, thank You for being in my life and the transformation You are imparting to me since my eyes have been opened. I praise You Lord continually. You are so amazing and wonderful. You rescued me from the depths of my despair and lifted me up with You and opened my eyes to the truth, the life, and the way. I was so blind before. I was so ignorant of You and all that You do and all that You are. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me Lord. I am so grateful, blessed, and honored to be Your child. I am grateful that You opened my eyes and are showing me the way, as we walk hand in hand daily through it all. I can't make it without You Lord -- nor do I want to. You are my saving grace and my eternal salvation. Grant me Your perfect peace and more of a praising and thankful heart. You deserve nothing less than the best of everything. Thank You Jesus. You are the One and Only God Almighty. Hallelujah! In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

  35. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. (Isaiah 40:29). I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. (Philippians 4:11). The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still. (Exodus 14:14). I will keep my eyes always on the LORD. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:8). When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future. (Ecclesiastes 7:14). Praise be to the LORD, to God our Savior, Who daily bears our burdens. (Psalm 68:19). For the LORD your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn His face from you if you return to Him. 37. Just thinking on 'normal'. I find it's normal to spend or block out as much time as possible in devotions. It's normal to give thanks to God throughout the day, sometimes belatedly. It's normal to read His word and take time to discuss it with Him. It's normal to appreciate His creation. It's normal to trust Him even when circumstances are adverse. It's normal to turn to Him and ask for His help when needed.
It's the World with its upsidedown priorities, concerns, panic, alarm, fear, hatred, selfishness and deceit that I find abnormal. Is that normal?

  38. Janet, you've been on my mind and heart. I pray you're having some relief from your back and leg pain. While I commented a few days ago regarding some stretches that could help if you haven't been able to go to a chiropractor, I think my reply came late in the day and you may not have seen it. My other half is a functional med doc / chiropractor (20+ yrs in practice). Chiro patients are given these specific stretches for homework that add to their adjustment care when they aren't able to get into the office and act as additional therapy in between appointments. These stretches have helped them all. A lot of people have jobs to where they sit all day. NOT conducive for the back. By simply doing these stretches, holding them for up to 3-minutes each (and less when you first start them), undo the damage of sitting for 8+ hours a day. If you'd like me to send them, email me at njschreibs@gmail.com and I'll shoot them over to you. No worries if you'd rather not. Prayers continuing for you, sweet Sister in Christ!

  44. Thank you for praying for our Daughter, Joni Marie. She was admitted to the hospital today, at her request, after her 4th trip to the ER. She's on Morphine, IV fluids and as of this evening, I finally got to talk to her and she was feeling better. She was perusing her Clear Liquid Diet menu with excitement b/c for the first time in 5 days she had an appetite. She texted her Employer and he was very understanding and supportive, which blessed her so much. Please continue praying for her. They need to confirm her diagnosis - one of which I had never heard of and remain thankful that she is listening to the Doctors and abstaining from any use. They think she has CHS - you can google it - my DH and I are just kind of looking at each other, while shaking our heads and thanking God that she's had this 'wake up' call. It's somewhat rare - but of course, that means one of us would/could get it, of course! WOW. I learn something new every day and along with that realize that there is NOTHING new under the Sun (Son), according to our Heavenly Father. I was hesitant to share, but my sister said, "That is ridiculous! Share it with praying people and let everything else go!" So....that's what I'm doing. Thank you Dear JC Family, for not judging or thinking badly of my daughter. Please - pray!

  51. Hope to give someone encouragemenst as my Lord gave me. The enemy seems to know our vulnerable spots. Mine seems to be family troubles, especially, one of my adult daughters. Most of the time when the enemy attacks, with his lying thoughts and words, I have learned to rebuke him and beat him to the ground with the WORD! BUT, this particular day I was weary, feeling weak, my mind was racing with negative thoughts. I felt trapped in a loop of gloom-ridden thinking. But God showed up, like only He can and directed these words to my spirit: "I encourage you NOT to entertain the enemies attacks." He brought me to Psalm 142:3. This was David talking to God, when he was hiding in a cave under the threat of Saul who wanted to kill him. He said to God: "When my spirit faints within me, You know my way." This was all like a huge hug from my Papa God that raised me up on high. HE KNOWS MY WAY!!! And He knows your way when you feel your spirit wanting to faint. We can trust Him to bring us through our circumstances, when we don't have a clue what to do. He provides us with strength when we have no strength left. He supplies us with encouragement when all we see is despair. HE KNOWS OUR WAY! He is our WAYMAKER! The WORD says to Decree and Declare. I Declare I WILL NOT entertain the lying scumbag, jealous wannabe god (satan) attacks. I WILL NOT TOLERATE THEM. (Sometimes you just have to tell the enemy to SHUT UP!) I have VICTORY and Declare I am a WINNER when I open the WORD. I come against the nefarious wicked demon power that wants me to quit and give up. I break that Fainting Spirit OFF NOW, in the name of Jesus. I WILL keep my eyes on my Mighty WARRIOR who already defeated death, hell and the grave. I Declare, I will NO LONGER BACKUP right before my BREAKTHROUGH. I will press through ALL THE WAY into everything God has called me to do, in Jesus's Name I Pray and Believe, AMEN and AMEN
My Beloved JCFAMILY/WARRIORS, I ask my Father God to give you strength, peace, joy, hope, everything you need today and tomorrow and the next day! We love your WORD, Father and we pray according to it, in Jesus's Name, AMEN and AMEN

    6. Thank you dear JJ for your fighting words and truth. The devil is fleeing and God is smiling. Whenever we lean on our human emotions, we are vulnerable to the enemy's traps but when we are in the Word and following after righteousness and the Spirit we are shielded from his fiery darts. Nothing can harm us. I try with God's help not to chew on the bitter stuff. My daughter in law Erica is very cold to me and didn't even join Dylan and my grandsons for the Thanksgiving zoom call. They've been married for 7 years, yet she has never called me or asked how I am. But I know God is in charge and all I can do is shine His light before her and her family. Even if I don't say a word, the way I live in Christ speaks volumes. Praying that God will resolve any differences between you and your daughter. May our indwelling Spirit supply all the right words to say. We are armed and blessed that God knows our way. He understands us like none other and no one can harm us when we are safe in His arms and covered by His mighty wings. We are a Family of Prayer Warriors and we continue to pray for each other. Our God is so much GREATER than he that is in the world. Hallelujah!
