Jesus Calling: March 16

    It is good that you recognize your weakness. That keeps you looking to Me, your Strength. Abundant life is not necessarily health and wealth; it is living in continual dependence on Me. Instead of trying to fit this day into a preconceived mold, relax and be on the lookout for what I am doing. This mind-set will free you to enjoy Me and to find what I have planned for you to do. This is far better than trying to make things go according to your own plan.
    Don't take yourself so seriously. Lighten up and laugh with Me. You have Me on your side, so what are you worried about? I can equip you to do absolutely anything, as long as it is My will. The more difficult your day, the more I yearn to help you. Anxiety wraps you up in yourself, trapping you in your own thoughts. When you look to Me and whisper My Name, you break free and receive My Help. Focus on Me, and you will find Peace in My Presence.
Philippians 4:13
Amplified Bible
I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].

Proverbs 17:22
English Standard Version
A joyful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

My Prayer
Lord, you remind me that it is in my weakness You are strong. Living in the world, I tend to define a great life by being healthy and/or being wealthy, but rather it is being In Christ and living my life depending on You Lord. It is in my weakness Lord that you are more clearly seen. Help me to not think that I should flee from things that make me uncomfortable. Lord, I don't want to live in fear, so impress on Me the victory I have in You. Lord, I can accept any situation and be content in it, not because I am special or have great peace of mind, but because You give me strength.

Lord, help me to laugh more and not to take each moment so serious. There is joy in you. You tell me not to worry about anything, but rejoice always. Help me to get my focus on You and not on my circumstances. You are a great God and I can find Peace in Your Presence.

  1. Lord thank you again for bringing me your word. Solid. True. And such great timing. Your words hit me deep. Anxiety wrap you up in your own self trapping you in your own thoughts. Sometimes I do not realize that my own worries have placed my eyes where they should not be. I walked boldly in you. I try to walk obedient lien you. Yet the trials of what I am going through in fast in my mind and even as I sleep at night I have dreams that take me away. I know Lord that as soon as I Rise and I open my eyes I go to your word for comfort and peace. And there you are refueling me and refreshing me and refocusing me. I cannot thank you enough for giving me your word. Always so sharp. And again always so Timely. Instead of trying to fit my day into my pre conserved mold I will Look to You Lord to guide me today. I will open my heart and smile at the Sun and close my eyes and feel the warm breeze. I will put on my full armor and lock out those thoughts that Dragsmme away from you

  3. Thank you Lord for another beautiful day of living my life in you! Thank you for allowing me to offer myself and this new day back into your hands. You will guide and lead me step by step regardless of what may come my way. Yes, it is in all of my weakness that your strength is able to carry me forth. I can go through this day knowing that you already have the solution even before I see the problem. Oh Heavenly Father, Hallowed be thy Name. They Kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven! Thank you for your hedge of protection covering over all of my children and my grandchildren. Guide them and heal their bodies, minds and spirits so that they may learn and understand that we must walk in faith and not by sight. Help them to heal from the inside out trusting in You Sweet Jesus. Stay with my daughter as she is being treated by the doctors. I know that her true healing comes from you dear Lord. Heal her liver so that she may have another chance to see her daughter grow up. Her daughter deserves to have her mother in her life. Thank you Lord for bringing healing and so that she will know your healing grace. Help me Lord to live each day being your vessel so that others may see your love light in all that I see today. Make me a channel of your love, peace and joy, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.❤🙏🙇‍♀️⚘🙇‍♂️🙏❤

    1. A blessed prayer, Cece. It captured the essence of my devotional time this AM. Our relationship with our Lord and thus our relationships with others is life and is all that matters. To put those things first puts all life in perfect order. I pray for all for whom you prayed, for God's grace and mercy to flood their souls. God be with you.

For YOU have said we are unable to be defeated by the enemy so long as we have YOUR living WORD, in our minds, heart and spirit, are wearing the Armor of GOD And are living according to YOUR Will. 🙏“Thank you” doesn’t do justice to my feelings of overwhelming gratitude for the blessings YOU have given me and my family. 2. Your Actions are the only sermon people believe!
      SERMONS WE SEE by Edgar Guest
      I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day;
      I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way.
      The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear,
      Fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear;
      And the best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds,
      For to see good put in action is what everybody needs.

      I soon can learn to do it if you'll let me see it done;
      I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue too fast may run.
      And the lecture you deliver may be very wise and true,
      But I'd rather get my lessons by observing what you do;
      For I might misunderstand you and the high advise you give,
      But there's no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.

      When I see a deed of kindness, I am eager to be kind.
      When a weaker brother stumbles and a strong man stays behind
      Just to see if he can help him, then the wish grows strong in me
      To become as big and thoughtful as I know that friend to be.
      And all travelers can witness that the best of guides today
      Is not the one who tells them, but the one who shows the way.

      One good man teaches many, men believe what they behold;
      One deed of kindness noticed is worth forty that are told.
      Who stands with men of honor learns to hold his honor dear,
      For right living speaks a language which to every one is clear.
      Though an able speaker charms me with his eloquence, I say,
      I'd rather see a sermon than to hear one, any day.

  7. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10)

    (Matthew 10:5-8) So now Jesus has chosen twelve of us. On all of our minds is the question, "For what purpose?" It doesn't take long before we get our answer. Jesus wants us to go out among the people just as He has been doing. He wants our target audience for the time being to be the lost sheep of Israel. His instruction to us is to proclaim the good news, the kingdom of heaven has come near. He is asked if we should have more training before we do this, if we should have a script we should follow, we all are feeling inadequate for the task. He responds that the mission is not a matter of a head trip in which we say all the right things. No, this is a heart trip in which we simply tell anyone what we have discovered in Him, what His love for us has meant to us, and what difference He has made in our lives. For these things, we don't need a script for we each have our own experience of His love in our lives to share. He goes on to say whatever needs you encounter, pray over them and show them love and compassion and in so doing the sick will be cured, the dead will be raised, the lepers will be cleansed, demons will be cast out. He continues by saying, "I have freely extended myself to you, now you must do the same for others." We are feeling overwhelmed with what He is asking us to do.

    In an interview with a church I was asked, "What plan do you have for evangelism?" I paused for a moment and then responded, "If the love of Jesus is not a burning desire in your heart, there is no evangelism program that can make you an effective witness. But if the love of Jesus burns within your heart, you don't need me to tell you how to witness for you simply tell people what you have experienced in your own words. That will be convincing in and of itself." (Epilogue, that church did so and became a powerful witness in its community, doubling in size over time.) Evangelism is being sensitive to the needs of others, having a spirit of prayer within our self that the Holy Spirit would move on their behalf, and to show others love, (as Brittany shares above, "if necessary, use words"); that is what most impacts people. It is in doing so, we will see wonderful and miraculous things happen over time. We need to stop thinking a soul being saved occurs in an instant, it can but it doesn't normally. In my career one of the most meaningful and blessed experiences God used me for to bring salvation to a young soul took many years to accomplish and many acts of love in the process and now that person makes significant impact on many broken lives in the school where she teaches. That is what the disciples were sent out to do and that is my own experience of how it happens. Let us never lose sight of the fact that it is the Spirit of God that saves souls; we are merely asked to show the love of Christ in all we say and do. That is proclaiming the good news!

    "Go into all the world, making disciples of all, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20) Here we go!

    With love, Bob

May we all live our lives to glorify Him and lead others to Him as He leads us. 8. Father, I thank You for another morning to give You thanks and praise despite the chaos of this pandemic that is going around. Thank You that I don’t have to fear, but trust and remember Your Words: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding” (Prov. 4:7) or “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). Please help me by keeping the “getting” in accordance with this scriptural guidance of “understanding”.

    At this time, let us all be encouraged to take precautions, but trust in the Lord. We should try and stay away from falling into the trap of anxiety. This is a perilous time, but we have a Savior that is mightier than this coronavirus. We are believers, let’s not follow the crowd, but follow/seek Jesus. As we keep our focus on Him, we will break free from fear, receive His help and find peace in the midst of the chaos.

    Heavenly Father, Help us to lighten up and laugh with You because You are on our side. You will not allow the devil to steal Your world, we belong to You. Thank You because before it began, You already knew all about this and You have set into motion Your delivery plan. We fear not because You are with us and for us. Thank You for taking control. As believers, we kneel in prayers for this country, families and the world. You are the strength of our life, You are our rock, our fortress and our protector, therefore, whom shall we be afraid? You are our shield, our strong-tower and our stronghold (Psalm 27:1). We will call to You because You are worthy to be praised. Calm us down with Your quiet words of love and remind us that Your grace, forgiven, restored by Your sacrifice, You have set us free.

    Staying in prayers for all.

  10. As I continue in review of the first half of my Lenten experience, my intention was to move on but as I scrolled past what I posted yesterday, the Holy Spirit 'snagged me' with 'Be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy'. What I was drawn to contemplate was the word 'be'. The instruction would follow but first I was called to 'be', to realize I was created in the image of God which is perfect love and that is who I am as that is who God is. 'Be' perfect love, have a heart that desires but one thing, love God only as God only loves each of us. In this world we live in, everyone wants to tell us what to do and we ourselves are guilty of the same. The Father is not asking us to do anything first for how can we do anything right unless we are anchored in love. [Case study: Luke 10:38-42 where Martha was doing the right thing but without love in the moment and it was coming off badly.] Augustine wrote, 'love God with your whole self and do whatever you feel like.' Sounds a bit ominous but if we get the first part right, everything that we do after that will be of God for it will be anchored in love and when it is, we can do no wrong. Further, God showed us this in action when God lived among us in the Son. Jesus never worried about what to do, He just lived in perfect love with the Father and thus acted perfectly in love in all circumstances and situations. I was led to close my time of contemplation by singing/praying, "Lord, I want to be like Jesus, in my heart..."

    The next portion of my devotional calls me to spend time observing Jesus and how this perfect love played itself out. I'll share my experiences over the next few posts I am given to make.

    In your and my day today, may God be glorified, may God's will be done, may God's love be shown. As we allow that to 'be', it will 'be' a perfect day. God be with you. With love, Bob

  11. IT IS GOOD THAT YOU RECOGNIZE YOUR WEAKNESS…
    When you read Philippians 2: 5-11 along with Philippians 4: 13, At this time in your life, how are you being asked to humble yourself?
    From Philippians 2 5 Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ, 6 Who, though He was God, did not demand and cling to His Rights as God, 7 but laid aside His Mighty Power and Glory, taking the disguise of a slave and becoming like men.[a] 8 And He humbled Himself even further, going so far as actually to die a criminal’s death on a cross 9 Yet, it was because of this that God raised Him up to the heights of Heaven and gave Him a name which is above every other name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow in Heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father.
    From Philippians 4: 13 for I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me His Strength and His Power.

    1. I am asking God to remove whatever stands between me and the life that He would have me live i.e., Blame, Defensiveness, Impatience, Melancholia, Anger, Illusion of Control, etc...
      The Basic Ingredient of all Humility is a desire to seek and do God’s Will, making honesty, tolerance, and true love of God, others same as self, the basis of daily living, and to get completely away from aversion to the idea of being humble, in order to gain a vision of humility as the avenue to true freedom of the human spirit. To be willing to work for humility as something to be desired for itself, takes most of us a long, long time, including a whole lifetime.
      Either try Humility, or fall by the wayside. Even with no very high opinion of Humility as a desirable personal virtue, I must recognize Humility as a necessary aid to survival. I must recognize Humility as the nourishing ingredient that can give Serenity! I must recognize that a great turning point comes when Humility is sought as something really wanted rather than as a check off must have. I am humbly asking God to remove all of my shortcomings and defects of character, to live at peace with myself and with others, being assured that The Grace of God can do what cannot be done for ourselves, and then move out from self toward God and towards others. I am willing to try on Humility. I ask. I seek. I knock. I thank. I praise. In Jesus’ Name. Pray for me Brothers and Sisters to The Lord, Our Good God. Amen.

    2. I am praying that prayer too sweet Brie. I have many shortcomings too and I fall short of pleasing Him so often because of my humanity. Amen, the Grace of God is the gift that helps us to become what God longs us to be: merciful, forgiving, kind, patient, honest, kind, and selfless instead of selfish. We must decrease as He increases. The greatest part of us is the Christ in us.
      Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: I need to be humble like our Lord who lowered Himself completely out of obedience to His Father and out of love for us. What a great example we have to follow! It is not about us but what we can do in our lives to glorify Him and lead others to Him. I am not an eloquent writer or speaker but the Spirit moves me to speak from my heart. I led my little Bible group tonight and encouraged them as much as I could. God gave me all the words as usual. He is so good to me. I pray He is leading me to fill their hearts with a burning desire to know Him better, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I pray they will remain faithful to Him as He is to them.

(There are issues in his homelife). I began praying to the Lord to help him and draw him to the Lord. 1. Your prayer is my prayer. I've been so busy with preparing the Irish meal and soda bread for tomorrow, I couldn't even finish my prayers. But I did pray throughout the day and God strengthened me to get everything done. So when my family comes I can be a Mary instead of a Martha.

  15. Sorry for the test, new computer ;)

    Dear Father help me to "lighten up" and realize my worry does wrap me in anxiety. Help me to see that you are with me every step of the way. That peaceful presence brings me Joy! A Joy that can only be found in You. That Joy brings a calm I seek. Help all those that overly focus on worry which produces anxiety find peace in you. Amen.

    1. Amen ABC. The peace is available to all who seek Him with an open and sincere heart. I rest in His peace most of the time. Sometimes my emotions get the best of me. Then I have to renew my mind. Just saying "Jesus" is enough to turn it all around.

  16. “I have written to you who are God’s children because you know the Father. I have written to you who are mature in the faith because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning. I have written to you who are young in the faith because you are strong. God’s word lives in your hearts, and you have won your battle with the evil one.” 1 John 2:14

    Loving Father, It’s another day to give thanks to You for the blessings of this day. Most times, we get upset with our weaknesses, struggles or hate the hardships we face and plead to You to remove them. Other times, we feel so overwhelmed that we have a hard time thinking about how to seek strength from You, or because we are overcome with disappointment, grief or just plain weariness. But unlike us, the Apostle Paul rejoiced in his weaknesses, embraced hardships, and thanked You for the obstacles that provided opportunities for him to experience Your power. This morning I pray that when we are weak or going through battles, please grant us Your strength to double on the amount of time and energy we spend on soul care. That is, feed our soul with Your Word, welcome hardship as a friend, and like the Apostle Paul, thank You for the obstacles and rely on Your great promise: "My grace is sufficient for you."

    Praying for ALL who are struggling and looking/waitibv for answers, that you receive God’s sufficient grace made available to you through Christ, giving you hope for healing, provision, restoration, protection, love, peace, all that you stand in need of and His unspeakable joy!

    “If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” Jeremiah 29:13.

    Blessings and Peace.

    2. Just needed my dose of sweet Maplewood. Your words were so encouraging to me. Had so much to do today and got it all done. I could feel His presence in the kitchen helping me complete my tasks. He even reminded me to take the Irish soda bread out of the oven before it burned. What a great God we serve. I am seeking His strength because I am quite weary. Hope to catch up on some sleep before my family comes tomorrow. Praying dear Maplewood that you are feeling well and strong.

  17. This is perfect. My children were kidding with me earlier and I took it to heart. I spent a long time in a sour mood after that. If I would've just not been so serious, I would've saved myself a lot of anguish. I feel so relieved reading today's devotion. Lord knows I'm a planner. I definitely accept His invitation to relinquish my plans and enjoy the days laughing with Him!

  24. " Instead of trying to fit this day into a preconceived mold, relax and be on the lookout for what I am doing."
    My 'preconceived mold' has already been
    busted wide open today. I need to be more flexible and trust Him through the rearrangements. I prefer days planned, an orderly procession of events. But we live life 'live'. I'm still learning in these latter years of life that I need to 'relax and not take myself so seriously', and more importantly to trust Him in all things. I trust You Lord Jesus.

I have a problem going to the bathroom because I can’t have any weight on my left knee. Taking muscle relaxant for my neck. I have a blood clot in my right knee in the back of my knee. 30. Good devotion for what I'm going through. So many things going on in my family. I'll have little Gabriel with me today and probably overnight but God must help me prepare for tomorrow's big Irish dinner. Then we have my Brother's 70th Birthday party on Sunday. Just found out my niece is flying in from Missouri. So may God grant her traveling mercies and also to everyone here that is traveling. God is the strength when we are weak. He knows we need Him. He waits for our voices calling out to Him. He doesn't want us to worry. As today's devotion says:
    I can equip you to do absolutely anything, as long as it is My will. The more difficult your day, the more I yearn to help you.
    So I will accomplish all I need to do even with my little Gabriel. Maybe he can help with the Irish soda bread. Keeping God in the Center so all things will come together. Please pray for my sister in Christ, Crystal who is having tests on the 20th to make sure she doesn't have colon cancer. We thank God that her tests will come out fine and we will receive answers to all our prayers. Thank You Jesus.

  31. Prayers answered with great results. All tests in... the last major one improved from last year to the best result possible. So, PTL, in 2 years since the stem cell transplant, all the major tests and bloodwork are showing deep remission and no detectable cancer cells at the current level of detection available. While staying on the aggressive 3 drug maintenance for 15 more months is challenging, there is a prayer goal for these numbers to remain at these undetectable levels. i.e. the new prayer request!

    Why some who pray for healing of cancer get prayers answered and why some do not, is something only God knows. Some of it is certainly early detection. For new readers, my situation was an annual physical having funky bloodwork. Lesson learned is get regular physicals, and for women regular mammograms. Yet, even with that, some folks pray earnestly for cures or positive outcomes and it doesn't happen. So let us all pray for God's peace for those who are in that situation and acknowledge that sometimes we will be saddened by negative outcomes. It is why I feel so blessed when I see much younger folks struggling with the disease or already losing fellow patients that I've come to know during this journey. Godspeed to all here and thanks again JC prayer warriors. In Him. Amen.

I too am blessed because God’s healing my cancer. I just know my treatments are working and every bad cell is being destroyed. I believe when I take my Pet Scan in May, it will show I’m in remission. Praying that you, my cousin Beth, and all those here and our loved ones with cancer will receive the faithfulness of our good and merciful God.

      I understand your comments, MadFox, about unanswered prayers. There is a reason, we just don't know what it is yet. A friend of mine lost her 6 year old son to Neuroblastoma a couple of years go. I questioned Him because I didn't understand how He could take such a sweet boy from his family. I know He has a plan. It was just so hard to watch.

    All our sins and griefs to bear
    What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
    O what peace we often forfeit
    O what needless pain we bear
    All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer
    Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged
    Take it to the Lord in prayer
    Can we find a friend so faithful
    Who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness

  36. "Abundant life is not necessarily health and wealth; it is living in continual dependence on Me."
    Had good experience of Abundant Life yesterday. I handed/surrendered every element of a situation to the Lord very early, depending totally on Him. Up early to help family who's car failed the annual inspection test the day before. Not a luxury but absolute necessity for work, hospital and other appointments for them as public transport in their area is not reliable.
    Long story short, no money to replace the car, they now have another car after many practical and legal difficulties. With God it's not 'trial and error', it's trial and trust as He enables to negotiate some often unsurmountable difficulties.
    I'm 'fair tuckered out' mentally after the day long and into late night experience, so today I'm resting and underneath are the Everlasting Arms.
