Jesus Calling: April 2

    I have promised to meet all your needs according to My glorious riches. Your deepest, most constant need is for My Peace. I have planted Peace in the garden of your heart, where I live; but there are weeds growing there too: pride, worry, selfishness, unbelief. I am the Gardener, and I am working to rid your heart of those weeds. I do My work in various ways. When you sit quietly with Me, I shine the Light of My Presence directly into your heart. In this heavenly Light, Peace grows abundantly and weeds shrivel up. I also send trials into your life. When you trust Me in the midst of trouble, Peace flourishes and weeds die away. Thank Me for troublesome situations; the Peace they can produce far outweighs the trials you endure.

Philippians 4:19
English Standard Version
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 4:17
English Standard Version
For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.

My Prayer
Lord, you will supply every need of mine? Lord, why don't I really believe that? I wonder if its because I think my needs are so great and vast and numerous. I guess its because I already have so much -- food, shelter, work, comfort, entertainment, rest -- and so what I think I need -- security, health, freedom, retirement, a new phone, a new car, a new house, food variety, sweets, fancy clothes, a vast network of friends, family, loved ones, vacations, respect, appreciation, to be valued -- is perhaps not really a need at all, but a desire. Yet, I look around and see what others have and naturally think I should have the same. So, my wants get blurred often into needs. Lord, you give me peace and when I really believe that, I know I don't need to worry. So place me in that mindset, conform me to the truth of your Word, not the way I want Your word interpreted. Help me to see that trials are often what I need, even though it hurts. Lord, I want to be a child of God, defined by You. Re-train me God.

  2. Peace of not allowing myself to beat myself up over a mistake. One wrong thought can kill moments of time. A mistake a small injustice can spread like a wild fire throughout ones body. Release it read God’s word say it out loud repeat it over and over again. Give it all to God. Ask for forgiveness and be forgiven. ❤️⚓️

    2. No matter how hard it is, we must let go of any anger towards those who have hurt us. Sometimes when we see we can't do anything about it, we must finally forget any injustice and just put it behind us. God forgives the worst of our sins, so we must forgive a person who has wronged us even when they will never apologize or even if they aren't aware of their wrongdoing. Anger will eat up our hearts. Forgive them because God forgives us. Once we are able to do that and we cast that burden on the Lord, we can then walk with a lighter load and serve God in a better frame of mind. He asks us to come to him in holiness. Let us do our best to be at peace when we come to the Throne of Grace.

  18. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10)

    (Matthew 12:15-21) As the leaders of the synagogue walked away grumbling, Jesus knows exactly what they have in mind, to seek His death. Knowing full well what God has determined for Him as the Messiah, which is not to die in a remote village, we hit the road again immediately after worship. But the people whom He has so impacted do not want to let Him go, so a large number of them follow us out of town. When we stop for a rest, He lets them gather around Him and He ministers to them, healing each according to his/her need. When He completes this time serving them, He emphatically tells them not to talk about what they have experienced with Him. Myself and the other disciples wonder why He orders them as such, doesn't He want everyone to know about Him? Truth be told as Isaiah stated it long ago (Isaiah 42:1-4), the Father will determine how it will be for His Chosen One, not the people's agenda. Because they do not understand what God is doing, the more they talk about Him, the more misunderstanding there will be. This is God's plan to make all things right just not for His chosen people, the nation of Israel, but the whole world. God is going to save the world not as humans think, with power and physical might, but with love and grace and mercy. By these means, justice will come to all, making all things right again.

    Justice (things being made right again) will not come through aggressive power/influence on anyone's part (such is the way of the world). No, it will come by the greatest power of all, the power of God exemplified in love, grace, and mercy. Jesus saved the world in this way; we are His disciples and it will be no different in our calling. Some of the weeds within our heart as the JC reading speaks of today, are the aggressive methods of the world to change things. No, the methods that truly change things are the practice of love, grace, and mercy. It is the power of God unto salvation. But those elements only work through us when the peace spoken about above is the state of our heart. From the second verse of a great old hymn, "Lead on O King Eternal":

    For not with swords' loud clashing
    Nor roll of stirring drums
    But deeds of love and mercy
    The heavenly kingdom comes

    We must let God save the world His way and by His own methods. He doesn't need any advice from us, He just needs us to trust and obey.

    Be at peace, sisters and brothers in Christ, so His love, grace, and mercy can work through you. God be with you this day and always. With love, Bob

  20. Dear Heavenly Father, A new day has dawn, I am blessed to be in Your Presence once more and thank You for graciously granting me brand new mercy to go through this day. Thank You for meeting all my needs according to You glorious riches. Not my will but Your will be done. Thank You for everything!

    We know that God owns everything, He is sovereign, all things belongs to His dominion. The universe operates according to His will. When we become saved, we cease to belong to ourselves any longer and because we were bought with a price, we now belong to God. We, in essence, become His. Bearing this in mind, everything we own belongs to Him and everything in the universe bears His signature literally. He is the Potter, He fashioned everything according to His plans, purposes and glory. God not only supplies our needs, but as the verse indicates, He promises the faithful that He will provide for them. His amazing ability to satisfy His children’s spiritual, emotional and physical needs is spread throughout the entire Bible. In Matt 6:25-26, Jesus told His disciples not to worry about food or clothing because if the Father watches over the birds of the air, we can certainly count on God to take care of us and all our needs. However, sometimes we confuse our needs with our wants and then complain that God is not meeting those needs. Then again there are times when our actual needs are not (yet) being met which could be due to the following: Perhaps God wants to postpone answering our prayers until He can deal with an area of sin in our life, or God will not do what we are equipped to accomplish by ourselves because He is not our butler and/or when we resist His method of provision and try to tell Him how we want it delivered and sometimes because we don’t trust God. But Jesus assures us in Mark 11:24 that: All things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. God will meet all our needs both spiritually and materially. He is infinitely wealthy and never lacks the ability to provide for those who trust in him. The Word says: “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Ps 37:4). This means he will change our desires to match his, and at the same time provide what we newly desire.

    Father in Heaven, We thank you that no situation is too far out of your control to provide. For you are Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides for Your people. We thank you that you own it everything, and hold everything in your hands. We thank you that you know all of our needs before we even ask, before we even come to you. You’re aware of all that concerns us, and you have a great plan. You hold the provision and you have the solution. You alone can move mountains to make a way for your children, so we thank You Lord, take You glory, it belongs to You!
    Blessings to all!

    1. As I just completed a teleconference bible study with men in the church I attend, I read your words, my twin sister (see March 28 post). Your affirmation of the sovereignty of God is well said and an important perspective for us to have. God is in control! The following up question that I have often been asked is, "Then why does God let this happen, why does God let people die, even some very strong believers? If God is a loving God, this should not be happening." Well, I would hate for a minute to think that God has lost control and this whole situation is out of His hands. Yikes!!! God is sovereign and will glorify Himself in and through this. We are about to take a journey through Holy Week and Jesus' Passion. Amid the chaos of everybody and everything that last week of Jesus' earthly life, the only One exhibiting self control was Jesus, even writhing in pain on the cross. Was God in control? Totally!!! Why does a loving God let that happen even to His own? Because He so loved the world that He gave to us His only begotten Son..." With the coming of Easter, His control is confirmed and His reason becomes clear. It was all redemptive. What is God then doing right now? As occurred three days after the cross, there will be a resurrection to new life when this is finished and it will be redemptive of which we may be only partially able to understand. In eternity, we will see clearly as we are seen clearly now by Him and He will worship forever after. Hallelujah!!!

      Incidentally, our bible study was on the book of Job. Boy is it relevant in the present times.

      God be with you!

    2. Thanks Bob, Among the many questions I will ask the Lord when my time has come is why so many bad things happen to so many good people. I know He is in control of everything. But the things that happen especially from Covid are heartbreaking and change lives drastically. But I still see good things happening because of the challenges we have had to face. Definitely a strength of faith and people who didn't even believe in God are seeking Him with a sincerity of heart. I never forget we serve a Risen Lord. He has already conquered death. He knows all our human frailties and temptations and fears. I look forward to seeing Him clearly and understanding all in the beautiful By and By.

Please give me the strength, courage, peace, comfort, hope, and joy that I need to endure this trial I am going through right now. You know my circumstances -- You know everything. I pray that I am using good discernment and staying in Your will as I journey on. When I start to get tired and begin to worry, please lift me up with You above my circumstances and revive me in Your perfect peace. Yesterday started a road of unknown certainty. I may not know what is coming or how I'm going to make it and I may be by myself in the flesh, but You are with me in spirit always. Thank You Jesus. 25. GOOD FRIDAY: Events that took place:
    FIRST TRIAL-Jesus is brought before Annas, and he is looking for an accusation.

    SECOND [and primary] TRIAL before Sanhedrin. Jesus is condemned.
    THIRD TRIAL- Immediately at dawn, the condemnation of Jesus is repeated. For the third time, Peter denies Jesus. He looks upon Peter as He was taken away by the Romans.
    FORTH TRIAL- Jesus is taken to Pilate
    FIFTH TRIAL- He’s taken before Herod and refuses to answer Herod’s questions.
    SIXTH TRIAL- He again is taken before Pilate, found innocent, but feared the crowd, so he sentenced Him to death. He was scourged, turned over to be crucified. Judas (the betrayer) hangs himself. Jesus bears His cross and is crucified.

    JESUS' LAST SEVEN WORDS FROM THE CROSS:

    -“Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. Luke 23:34
    -Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise (to one of the criminals next to Him). Luke 23:43
    -Woman, behold thy son! Behold, thy mother! John 19:26-27
    -My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me? Matt 27:46 and Mark 15:34
    -I Thirst. John 19:28
    -It is Finished. John 19:30
    -Father, into Thy hands I commend my Spirit.” Luke 23:46

    At about 3pm- The Death of Jesus takes place. Darkness blanketed the land. As Jesus gave up His spirit, the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead. They left the cemetery after Jesus’ resurrection, went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appeared to many people." (Matthew 27:51-53). Jesus is buried by sundown.
    So why is the day of Jesus’ death called Good Friday? That terrible Friday is called Good Friday because our Heavenly Father’s mercy and grace make salvation possible for all, and allows us to receive the gift of eternal life through Christ.
    Atonement requires a perfect, spotless sacrifice, and His Son, our Savior was that perfect Sacrifice. We can recall how right up to His final hours on earth, Jesus preaches forgiveness. He forgave the very people whose sin He was dying for. Yes, our sin was paid for!

    GOD ACCEPTS HIS SACRIFICE (a sweet smelling aroma).

    Loving Father, As we commemorate the suffering and execution of Jesus and spend time either fasting, praying, in repentance, or meditating on the agony He endured, we give thanks to His sacrifice on the cross.The Resurrection of Jesus and His Victory over death and sin, have caused us to appreciate this glorious gift of redemption from our sin that Christ gave mankind. Teach us to never take for granted the gift of Your unconditional Love on our behalf, forgive us for not totally recognizing what You have so freely given us, and please help us to always remember the cost of it all. For this and so much more, we thank You Lord that Jesus Lives and Reigns throughout eternity! Amen.

    Blessings and Peace.

    5. Dear Maplewood, Thank you for walking us through the Lord's last hours and giving us His last words. Our Good Friday service was so emotional to me. And it makes me so sad to think how much He had to suffer. But it is such a Good Friday because He was a ransom for sinners, and we are all sinners. He bought our release from the bondage of sin. We were made clean and blameless by the Cross. Let us walk worthy of His love.
      Let us walk forward knowing that we are saved by His blood and we are never alone because He walks with us. We must forgive others because He forgives us.
      Your words always instruct and encourage me. God bless you dear sister.

  26. I'm asking for prayers. This past month I've had a few things happen where I have been living for years. First was the hot water issues, then I had a mouse, and then yesterday morning, right after my alarm went off my ceiling caved in so I had to leave. I can no longer stay there. I lost my job last year because of covid issues and have been on unemployment and also yesterday I found out that I didn't receive any money this week and when I called the system now says I'm not even in it. Needless to say, I know that God is working in my life and there must be changes He wants for me. I don't know what they are or how I'm going to achieve them, but I am holding on to His word and promises and at times it gets to me, but I'm looking to Him and praying that He helps me keep my eyes on Him and not my circumstances. Please pray for me as I'm going through all these things. I appreciate and love you all. You are all very helpful, inspiring, and supportive. Thank you all so very much. I feel so blessed that the Lord directed me to this blog years ago. God is good. God is great. God is so good to me. God loves all of us. Praise God. Thank You Jesus.

  27. JC April 2:  "I have promised to meet all your needs according to My glorious riches...Thank Me for troublesome situations; the Peace they can produce far outweighs the trials you endure."

    Wow. LIVING this reality is truly a Godsend. I'm in awe of how well the situation has played out. While I wish my wife had been here, I'm now convinced that God used the pandemic to connect me to staff and patients that I would have never met had the hospitals been in normal operations. There are far too many impactful moments to share, but I will do so in the months ahead as it all plays out.

    I'm now in the BASEMENT period. Good news is: each day in the "shadow of the valley of death" (blood counts are incredibly low) brings me closer to total healing and departure. However, discharge is based solely on achieving certain numbers in blood counts and a functioning immune system so could still be a week or more.

    Am so grateful for all the kind comments. It is amazing, given that for the most part this is a community who exists to help find their way through a devo, and has a bond that amazes all, who post to a blog.

    I will leave you with this for positivity that I got from a get well card. I'm not sick, I'm healing. Godspeed. Amen.

  38. Thank you Lord that I am able to sit quietly in this room alone except for You. As I sit here in this stillness, I sense You washing over me, washing through me. Precious Lord, Precious Savior.
    Thank you that You meet me in the garden of my heart, continue O Lord Your work in me, the weeding, the removal of stubborn roots. Remove the seeds of deception, that want to sprout and take root. Feed my Lord the fruit of the Holy Spirit You have planted in me, that when used for Your Glory will bring results that delight Your Heart.
    Speak Lord in the stillness while I wait on Thee:
    " Speak, Lord, in the stillness,
    While I wait on Thee;
    Hushed my heart to listen,
    In expectancy.

    Speak, O blessed Master,
    In this quiet hour;
    Let me see Thy face, Lord,
    Feel Thy touch of power.

    For the words Thou speakest,
    They are life indeed;
    Living bread from heaven,
    Now my spirit feed!

    All to Thee is yielded,
    I am not my own;
    Blissful, glad surrender,
    I am Thine alone.

    Speak, Thy servant heareth,
    Be not silent, Lord;
    Waits my soul upon Thee
    For the quickening word.

    Fill me with the knowledge
    Of Thy glorious will;
    All Thine own good pleasure
    In Thy child fulfill.

    Like a watered garden,
    Full of fragrance rare,
    Lingering in Thy presence,
    Let my life appear."

Feeling the sunshine , the breeze, hearing the serenade of songs from the birds, all draw me to meet, talk &, walk with my Jesus. And He does! Everytime, if I tune my spirit to hear His voice. So many life lessons awaits & play out while I tend to my garden. When I've called it a day, for my strength has deminished, in quietness I realize that the Master Gardener has been weeding, pruning, tilling, planting & watering the new growths in the soil of my heart. 3. Beautiful lyrics, tune and encouragement, dear Peter! Thank you. Sweet Jan, your words moved me. When I’m gardening I often pray. He is with us in the sweet stillness. I went right into your garden with you. It reminded me of a song I always played at he nursing home. I think it’s called In The Garden:
      I come to the garden alone,
      While the dew is still on the roses,
      And the voice I hear falling on my ear
      The Son of God discloses.
      Refrain:
      And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
      And He tells me I am His own;
      And the joy we share as we tarry there,
      None other has ever known.
      He speaks, and the sound of His voice
      Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
      And the melody that He gave to me
      Within my heart is ringing.

  45. In this age where the value of community is spoken about, written about, even in the NYT….I realize that the Jesus calling family is a very strong community for each of us. We are all there for each other in a powerful and life giving way. I give thanks for each of you and our prayers for each other.
