Jesus Calling: February 12

I am ever so near you, hovering over your shoulder, reading every thought. People think that thoughts are fleeting and worthless, but yours are precious to Me. I smile when you think lovingly of Me. My Spirit, who lives within you, helps you to think My Thoughts. As your thinking goes, so goes your entire being.
Let Me be your positive Focus. When you look to Me, knowing Me as God with you, you experience Joy. This is according to My ancient design, when I first crafted man. Modern man seeks his positive focus elsewhere: in sports, sensations, acquiring new possessions. Advertising capitalizes on the longing of people for a positive focus in their lives. I planted that longing in human souls, knowing that only I could fully satisfy it. Delight yourself in Me; let Me become the Desire of your heart.
Matthew 1:23
English Standard Version
"Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel”
(which means, God with us).

Psalm 37:4
English Standard Version
Delight yourself in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

My Prayer
Lord, thanks for being with Me. Forgive me Lord for getting wrapped up in what I want out of ministry and life. You know Me right now and I'm hurting a little or am confused because all that I think people want out of me and value is my arms and legs, or me doing. They don't want my mind or thoughts. They don't even want to be questioned. But, just trust that their way is the best way. It's hard Lord. You have given me a longing and a desire within me. I want what is best for your church and yet it's hard when it feels like the church isn't getting what is best.

But, Lord, I put so much stake in a message or a program when You are the real answer. Prayer is what changes hearts. Your Word reminds us that for a need in the harvest the answer is prayer. You send out laborers to the harvest. So, Lord, are you sending me in this way. Is this what You are pushing me to do?

Lord, I'm amazed at how full each day is. There is so much to each day. There is so much wrapped up in it. Lord, I do want my thoughts to center on You. I don't want to be trained or coerced by the world and its ways. I know I tend to fill up my world with a lot of stuff. I have a hard time saying "no" to things. I want to try and fit it all in.

Lord, I pray for my kids and my family. Lord, I give them to You. I bring them to You like Abraham brought Isaac and placed him on the altar. They are in Your hands. I trust You for their outcomes. I pray for them. I pray for their strong growth in You. Define their world. Help my son Derek and his growing up time that he is experiencing and the pressure to fit in and go along and be a part of others. We haven't sheltered him, but have allowed him to roam and be. At times, he doesn't make good decisions. I pray that he would learn from his choices and most importantly, I want to encourage him to return to You. Give him wisdom. Give him zeal to do the work of his school work to the best of his ability. Bring good people into his life that can encourage him to be him, not simply to fit within a crowd. Bring people that make wise choices not simply choices to rebel the establishment or the tradition.

    3. Amen, We don’t need the glitter and glamour of the world, only Christ in us, the hope of glory. His promises are forever. The treasures of this world are fleeting and temporary. I’m living for the line that goes on forever instead of this flash in the pan.

    6. Audra and Jeanne I absolutely love your comments! Did anyone see the Jesus commercial during the Superbowl last night where people were washing other people's feet? I watched the game with my sister and BIL and good friend and by the end of the commercial, we all had our arms up as if Jesus had just scored a touchdown! Praise God for the ones who made that commercial!!! And thank you Father God for sending us your quarterback Jesus so we all might be saved from this hell on earth! 🙏✝️💜

Yes Jesus You were my positive Focus. Thanks for The Messages that turned my thoughts toward You. When we looked to You during Your Commercials, we were happy knowing You as God With Us, and we experienced a lot of Joy! The Lombardi trophy paled in comparison to our Joy at watching JesUS gets us. On our behalf, Please bless and thank the persons through whom Your Commercials came. What a Win 🏆

  3. Lord, I pray that you would be my positive focus each day and that I would begin to discover and realize everything else is vanity compared to you. I pray that you would satisfy my hungry soul with your Spirit and my thoughts would become your thoughts. I pray for the faith and the courage to do what pleases You.

    In Jesus' name,

    Amen

  4. Sassy Mom! I've missed you: your wisdom that comes from living a long life with Christ at the center. ! I have thought of you often and wondered if you were OK. Good to see "you" :) I loved this devotion and my prayers are all of yours, even back to 2013. Prayers for all of us to seek His face, and I say this re: my own life - seek Him with as much zeal as I seek other things: people's approval, ways to relax & have fun, "things" I try to fill myself with, when only He is the answer. I keep thinking 'maturity' is the answer. Yet, we are told to be as dear children. I guess that may be the key - dear children, not antsy teenagers. I have a lot of growing to do. I'm thankful God knows my heart & has promised to meet its desires, according to His Word. I pray for my husband, my children, their children, my friends, & their children, for our country & its leadership. As is so often our tendency, I need to pray for myself; that I continue to grow in Your Word, so I can be an example of Your strength & power. Keep my heart grounded, Lord. Keep reminding me that I am not their answer; You are. Let me be your example as I learn and grow. As you said, Jerry, "everything else is vanity compared to you." So true. Prayers for all of us as we continue to grow.

  9. I am so blessed by the thoughts, prayers and interactions above. It is good to be here. My devotions these few days have focused on embracing the moment and our Lord who has come to meet us in it. Too often, we have our minds in the past focusing on what we should have done or our minds are way into the future imagining things that God has not planned for us or being anxious about what will be. In both cases when we allow this to happen, we are not fully present in the moment where our Lord is standing before us in a person who needs us or who is bringing a word from God to us (like an angel). To do the will of God is to love Him and serve Him in what we have to do now. The more fully we love in the present moment, the more fully the future will take care of itself. God be with you!

  11. This is my second day on this site. I have been reading Sarah Young's book for several years and wanted to be able to read it on my cell phone. Imagine my surprise when I came upon this site . There are no accidents. I will continue to follow this site as I am really enjoying the prayer from paytonfamily as well as the comments from those on a walk with Jesus. Thank you all for being such a blessing. I chose to write my name as well as put in parentheses Martha and Mary. They are the two women I relate the most to in the Bible. most of my life I have lived as Martha and for several years now I have prayed and struggled with wanting to be more like Mary. I have found that when I spend my Mornings in prayer that I am encouraged and find so much more joy in my daily life. My family and I for almost 20 years now have attend a wonderful Church in New Hope Pennsylvania. It is a strong faith Bible based and community service Church. I pray today for myself, my family, friends, and others to trust the promises of God and not walk in fear.

  13. Lord, You are the desire of my heart... but I am weak! As You know having walked here with us, there is a natural worldly pull for out attention by friends, strangers, family, charlatans, and shopkeepers. Focusing on You becomes a challenge but I'm thankful for your patience. As I've aged these temptations, still blur my view of You. However, with each year that passes, Your word and love have weakened the amount of distraction. I pray that You will continue to refine me in my focus and thus reflect more of Your love to others each day. Amen

  14. As I opened my eyes at 3 AM I thought to turn over and go back to sleep, but GOD had different plans for me. I came into my favorite spot for HE and I and came straight to this blog, because I knew HE had something special awaiting me through each of YOU! The Spirit reminded ME this morning that I am who GOD says I am when I am obedient and find myself following his lead instead of trying to lead my own life! I am helpless and hopeless in and of my self but powerful when the GOD in me stands up and uses me to glorify him in word and deed. I loved that first sentence in the devotion today, "I am ever so near you, hovering over your shoulder, reading every thought." Is that not a beautiful thought? To know HE cares enough to hover over us and meet our needs, is humbling and I am praying each day to delight more in HIM so the HE will BECOME the desire of my heart 100%. I pray each of you have a joyful and peaceful day in the LORD!

    3. 3 AM! 'God's Daughter', you are not alone. When God calls it's best to answer Yes. 3 AM seems to be a special time somehow; not for me( I'd be like a 'bear with a sore head'), but for many others including my wife. Fast asleep, the Lord calls her," it's 3 AM". She gets up quietly, goes to the lounge, opens her Bible and for hours, the Lord leads her through the Scriptures and prayer giving her His thoughts. Y'all 3 AM'ers have my deepest admiration. The Lord bless you richly.

  15. It's been a long night and like you, God's daughter,I finally got up and went to my favorite spot.
My Hub and I have these nagging coughs and stuffy sinuses. I told him yesterday morning, we were like a hacking symphony all night - first him, then me, then him...all through the night. This last night was much the same. Please pray that we are healed in the name of Jesus Christ. My dear Hub will be traveling out of the country in 16 days. His first time. The thought of not seeing him for 8 days has me a bit anxious - I miss him already. Couple that with him not being 100% - well, my mind can go wild. So, I am reigning it in. "As your thinking goes, so goes your entire being." Remind me of that all day, Lord, and let my thoughts be Yours. Help me, please, to remember who I am in Christ and how you have carried us so many years, gotten us through so many valleys and made us to stand in Your glorious light.
Praying for Lisa and Jenn's patient, Sassy Mom. I love that your "other kids," come to you for prayer.
Praying for each of you JC Prayer Warriors, this early morning. That your day is filled with the Light of His Love and the Power that resides in each of us. My prayers are not that different from this time last year...this causes me to stop and think about growth in His Word. Or that 'life is so daily,' as my spiritual mom used to say.

Let THIS be my focus today, in the name of Jesus Christ, as my Best Man and I heal and believe the mighty power He has given us. Praying that I don't 'spread the stuff' to the people I meet with today.
Blessings to each of you - so thankful for this blog!

  16. Good morning. I too got awoken by the Holy Spirit in the middle of the night( no use hitting the snooze lol) I got up and obediently allowed God to fill the space in the quiet, wee hours. A Holy time. I read my Bible some after prayer and felt ready for rest. God sees our heart and sees the need of the aching world and knows our responsibility better then we do ( of course). Thank you Lord for the peaceful sleep that followed. Thank you for this blog of light and love. Many of your comments I jot down to remember . 17. I am blessed to be with each of you in this blog, both those who post and those who just come to read. To MadFox, God's Daughter, Norah, and Fern, your posts so helped me with the contemplation I had in my quiet time this AM. I was listening to Jesus in Mark 7:14-23 where He is teaching His disciples (and each of us) about the heart and so is today's JC reading which amplifies His words. We are born into this life with a heart that got corrupted in the Garden of Eden and is in need of purification. The vices Jesus spoke of in the Mark passage come out of us because of that defilement. Without Him, we would be totally owned by all of those evils and more. But He has sought us out, thrown us up on His shoulders and carried us back home to the Father, keeping these evils from destroying us though they will continue to try. Through exercising our heart in Him regularly and constantly, those evils become displaced by faith, hope, and love. My reading of scripture was also accompanied by the thoughts of a French priest, Father Philippe from his book, The Eight Doors of the Kingdom: Meditation on the Beatitudes. He wrote, "The Beatitude Happy are the pure of heart because they will see God could be turned the other way around: Happy are those who see God, for they will keep their hearts pure. The most powerful safeguard of a pure heart is the spirit of faith by which we see God's hand in everything that comes to us..." My devotional time was closed with prayer over Jesus words, thanking Him for delivering me from the evils that He has set me free from, and asking for Him to create within me a pure heart because some of the vices still are lingering trying to separate me from the Father. Prayer is the powerful tool given to us to loosen the grip of anything that is trying to hold on to us. Against some evils, it needs to be "praying without ceasing" (I Thessalonians 5:17).

I am grateful for this blog because it provides an opportunity to sort out what the Lord is saying to me and if it is of any help to you, thanks be to God. Have a blessed day, brothers and sisters in Christ. With love, Bob

  19. Another day to give thanks to the Father from ‘whom all blessings flow and to Praise Him all creatures here below’! Thank You Lord for Your Presence that is so near to me that I don’t have to look too far. As the song says:
“Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee! Even though it be a cross that raiseth me, Still all my song shall be,
Nearer, my God, to thee; Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee”!.

Sometimes our feelings tell us we shouldn’t be driven by our emotions when it comes to our trust in God, but the scriptures says in Romans 1:17, “the righteous shall live by faith” and “without faith it is impossible to please God”(Heb. 11:6). This tells us that we shouldn’t have to feel God to know He is there nor be discourage when it seems that He is not around or has checked out of your life. God promised He will never leave us or forsake us (Heb. 13:5). We can be assured of His constant presence even if we are struggling with a painful situation or just too busy to notice He is near.

I was once reminded that whenever I feel far away from God, to search myself and confess any hidden sin, read scriptures aloud so the devil hears and flee, worship God with songs of praise, say a simple prayer then speak your heart's cry, call upon the name of Jesus as the One whose presence you long for and you will sense the power of His presence, His peace and as the Source to calm your soul or take a quite walk with Him in your heart.

The omnipresent God, is present at all times and in all places. John 14:23 reminds us that God's Spirit lives within those who believe in Him. We do not have to go somewhere special to seek His presence, but are called to worship Him and live guided by His Spirit that lives within us.

Father, thank You for being our positive focus and allowing us to think Your thoughts.

  27. Jesskeil that was a very anointed prayer you posted for Madfox. If anyone didn't see it please go back. A wonderful petition to the great physician on behalf of our brother.

    Jesskeil,
I was scanning through older posts looking for something (actually I was looking to see if I missed a post from Brie) and your post stood out to me.
I know this illness can make you feel isolated and all alone. This is something that everyone experiences in their life at some point, but not to the debilitating point you are experiencing. This is for s season, God will bring you out of it and use you as a healing point for others. You are taking major steps in the right direction by participating in this blog. It's a wonderful place to get God's word and promises into you Speak over yourself the promises of God and put your name into them. As you know it's one moment at a time. Rejoice in the good moments and rejoice in the bad moments. I know this sounds crazy, but In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 it tells us to do just that.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

When we thank God in all things it takes the enemies influence out of the picture. More importantly it puts God back as your focus and allows the mind of Christ to rise up in you.

Please don't feel that I'm saying these words out of judgment, my heart is far from that. I have experienced this illness through loved ones who's degree has varied from mild to severe. This doesn't mean I'm an expert or have all the answers. Seek out all the assistance and support you can. Also, dig into God's word. It can help you to focus and lessen your anxiety. God bless you and your brave heart. I will continue to bring you to our amazing Father.

Friend I have a friend that has a need! Knock, knock thank you Lord for never turning on away!!

    3. Thank you, Terri. I hve been staying close to God and vowing that if he can bring me through this, I will help others. My whole perspective will shift, but the worst off is the numbness. I can’t feel live or the spirit the same and it is so awful. I just am trying to keep the faith that I’m not forced stuck this way.

  29. “Thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him” 2 Corinthians 2:14.

Loving Father, Thank You for another day. Thank You that through Jesus I can know and experience Your love and plan for my life. It is a blessing and a joy to know that I do not have to do this life alone, but walk confidently and hold tight to Your beautiful promises. Thank You for being Immanuel and for coming to this earth, to implant a piece of Your heart into mine, equipping and empowering me for the amazing life You destined for me way before time began. This is a divine love done shown with all intent to be near Your children. I am boarding a plane this morning for the church conference in my continue pursuit to seek You, Your Word and be blessed to be a blessing to others. Flying is not my thing, but again this morning, You have reminded me that You are “ever so near”! I trust that You are my IMMANUEL, God with me in and through everything and with a hedge of protection over me. Thank You that I can rest and keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. Amen.

This morning, may all of us be reminded always that no matter what deep valleys, or dark times we may be facing, IMMANUEL promises to be with us. Whether we see Him or not, He is not distant, He is not unapproachable, but draws ever so near, especially in our times of need. Just by calling His very name we know He is there. So whatever you may be walking through today, walk confidently, equipped and empowered, because God ‘IMMANUEL’ is with you every step of the way!

Norah, I join you and JC family in continue prayers for MadFox and EVERYONE that are in need of healing and answers to other petitions. I cover you and yours in prayer as well. God is FAITHFUL!

Brie, great to hear from you again and thanking God for You and hubby’s recovery. God is too good.

Father, today we claim VICTORY over satan by putting on the Whole Armour of God. AS we put on the Girdle of Truth, may we stand firm in the truth of Your Word so we will not be a victim of satan's lies. As we put on the Breast of Righteousness, may it guard our hearts from evil so we will remain pure and holy, protected under the blood od Jesus Christ. As we put on
the Shoes of Peace, may we stand firm in the Good News of the Gospel so Your peace will shine through us and be a light to all we encounter. As we take on the Shield of Faith, may we have Your wisdom Father to discern satan's fiery darts of doubt, denial, and deceit so we will not be vulnerable to spiritual defeat. As we put on the Helmet of Salvation, may we keep our focus on You, Father, so satan WILL NOT
have a stronghold on our thoghts. As we take the Sword of the Spirit, may the two-edged sword of Your Word be ready in our hands so we can expose the tempting words of satan. By faith as Your WARRIORS, we have put on the Whole Armour of God. We are prepared to live this day in SPIRITUAL VICTORY!!! In the Name of Jesus, the name that is above all other names. HALLELUJAH!!! Define my false suspicions
No one should ever love me like You do

Somehow You really love who I really am

    To be loved by You
Who am I, who am I, who am I
    To be loved by You
Who am I, who am I, who am I
Last night, my confidence was shaken
My wounds and my past was saying
No one should ever love me like You do
While I'm on this road You take my hand
Somehow You really love who I really am

  51. Such a busy day for me. Singing in Church this morning and then getting ready for Super Bowl Sunday. As I was reading the posts I smiled because I felt the Lord hovering over me and it was a sweet realization. I really do think lovingly about Him. He helped me get so much done yesterday. I kept thanking Him. Got my chili made in two versions. One with meat, and one without, and I made cauliflower hot wings because we'll be eating real wings so my son and his wife who don't eat meat can enjoy wings too, and a spinach dip for the vegetables, and a small flatbread pizza. Our sons are bringing hummus and guacamole. So blessed that I feel great because Jesus is healing me. I am really living my life. My sister got home safely, thank God, and met her new baby granddaughter, Daphne. God keeps answering my prayers and I trust He'll continue to show us His faithfulness because we trust in Him. He is the God that hears us. Have a blessed day in the Lord dear family. Put every worry into His Hands and trust He will handle it all with loving care. Enjoy the new day He has given you and be glad in His presence and peace. Look for the bright light He shines along your path today. No looking down at your shoes. Look up from where your Help comes from. Much love to all. Exercise your trust muscles and believe the best is yet to come. Thank You Jesus.

Psalm 118:8 – It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man.

Psalm 28:7 – The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.

1 John 5:14 – Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings. (Jeremiah 17:9-10). Do not let your adornment be merely outward -- arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel--rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 60. Just as today’s devotion said: “I am ever so near you, hovering over your shoulder, reading every thought”. I sat down at about 10 pm last night with a blank canvas and my paint. I knew I would have Divine Help. I told Jesus I had to do an oil painting for my good husband’s Birthday. I told myself there was no need to worry because Jesus would help me get it done. He was faithful. I did a painting of a Pier at Pompano Beach FLA. I saw the photograph online but I couldn’t print it so I just painted from the image on my I Pad. I had no time to mix colors so I did the best I could with the help of Jesus. I know Rick will like it and I’m blessed to receive God’s faithfulness once again. He is so good to me.
Please pray for healing of my sister’s knees and for God to grant her traveling mercies as she flies here today. Rick and I are traveling tomorrow so thank you for your prayers. May God grant all those who are traveling His safety and protection and heal us and our loved ones in every way. May He comfort dear Norma as she nears the end of her life and lead her Home. It will be a blessing because she is suffering. May God also grant peace to our dear Janet and Norma’s loved ones. Thank You Jesus

  61. JC Warriors, thank you all for your prayers for Norma, her family, and me. She passed yesterday afternoon and is now with the Lord. She's not in pain anymore and is being perfectly loved and comforted by our Lord and Savior. I am so very grateful for that. May our heavenly Father bring healing to Janet's knees and traveling mercies to her, Jeanne and Rick. May the Lord turn His face toward His children and bless and keep us in His loving arms. May those that are still lost be found and receive Him into their hearts and lives. May we all be transformed into His image more and more each day. May His perfect peace flow continually in and through us as we walk along the path He has for each of us. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen 🙏. God bless and peace be with you!

  62. Psalm 42:1-2
1 As the hart pants and longs for the water brooks, so I pant and long for You, O God.
2 My inner self thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God?
    Psalm 63:1
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
    Psalm 84:1-2
1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
    Lord Almighty!
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
    for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out
    for the living God.
    John 4:13-14
Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
    John 6:35
Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst."

Blessèd is Your Name O God,
It is You alone who quenches our soul's thirst with Living Water,
Who satisfies our soul's hunger with the Bread of Life,
    Who heals all our dis-ease,
    Who binds up our wounds,
Who saturates us with Your Peace,
Who goes before us and prepares our way,
Who is the Good Shepherd caring for Your lambs,
Who hears and answers our prayers,
Only in You do we find Life Eternal and rest for our souls.

  64. Hello JC family- sending love and prayers Janet as we have gotten to know Norma through the blogs as she is now dancing with Jesus. Heaven gets so much more real the older one gets. What a joy set before us. Writing this brings me such comfort as Jesus is my all in all. I ask for prayers as I am getting some heart tests done this week due to reports from a past history of a mild to moderate leaky heart valve. May God be the glory. His will be done and for peace that surpasses understanding. Sending love and blessings to all tonight. Sleep well all. TY all for your devotions to praying for us all!

    1. Rest in Him who loves you, dear Katie. Praying God’s peace will cover you and the tests will bring good results. Don’t lean on your own understanding. Exercise your trust muscles. Give it all to God and He will make it right. Thank You Jesus.
