Jesus Calling: February 22

    You need Me every moment. Your awareness of your constant need for Me is your greatest strength. Your neediness, properly handled, is a link to My Presence. However, there are pitfalls that you must be on guard against: self-pity, self-preoccupation, giving up. Your inadequacy presents you with a continual choice--deep dependence on Me, or despair. The emptiness you feel within will be filled either with problems or with My presence. Make Me central in your consciousness by praying continually simple, short prayers flowing out of the present moment. Use My Name liberally, to remind you of My Presence. Keep on asking and you will receive, so that your gladness may be full and complete.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
New Living Translation
Never stop praying.

John 16:24
Amplified Bible
Up to this time you have not asked a [single] thing in My Name [as presenting all that I Am]; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.

My Prayer
Lord, I need thee, every hour I need thee. O bless me now, my savior, I come to thee. Either I rely on You for strength or I sink in despair. Lord, how easily it is for me to try and work out life away from you. How much I try to do this each day, relying on My own strength, not turning to You for strength. My wife who wanted to pray over the faucet we were changing out the other day and yet I shrugged and didn't give it value. Lord, I want You to be central in my consciousness. Lord, help me to stay faithful in praying. I can't do it on my own and on my own I will waiver. I need thee.

  1. Father, I am so happy to set aside everything i think i know about you,myself and others today to experience some hope. I ask that i can turn my attention to your presence when the problem pops up in my mind. My focus is going the correct direction, and i do not have be perfect to see it. I rely on you for my strength and that is a hope my spirit remembers from when i was a child. I know now that I don't know. Thank you for the humility I have been searching for. Thank you for a new experience with you, others and myself. Amen

  2. Last night I went to sleep thankful. My day was as good as the day before was awful. This morning, I woke up refreshed, excited about the day. Reading JC, I immediately saw that it was because all day, I 'never stop(ped) praying.' We went to a Celebration of Life for an 86 yr old man whose life was nothing short of miraculous. Not because of his wealth (though he had plenty), not because of his great inventions (though he was truly amazing), but because of his love for God and the people he met daily. He was KNOWN for living every day asking, "What can I do to bless your people?" His family was gracious and there was much laughter in the receiving line as people shared their favorite memories of this kind man. He was diagnosed with the disease that finally ended his life, 20 (!) years ago. His Dr. said, "Had he stopped working as hard as he did, enjoying life & pushing himself to keep going, he would have died a long time ago.' It was humbling and the many people there were so blessed to have been a part of his life. On the drive home, that was all my husband and I could talk about. Our time together was sweet and rather than talking about the news of the day, or the sadness I often encounter in my job, we talked about God's grace, mercy and love and how we could better share it. I often joke about how our date nights (& days) have gone from going out for a meal or to a party to funerals and Dr. appts. But, I realized that it's that time in the car, that fellowship with no distractions other than to talk about how God has blessed us all these years, is what makes our time together so sweet. "The emptiness you feel within will be filled either with problems or with My presence." Sarah nailed it in JC. Mr. Peyton nailed in praying for all things (even when you're changing the faucet). When God is central in our lives, our thoughts, our moment-by-moment life, all needs are met and we are thankful. The horrible day on Wed, made me extra-sharp on not letting it happen again. God guarded my heart b/c I continually asked Him to go before me. Prayers for all who read this blog, for family & friends. Thank you for the TLC I received on my bad day/night, from all of you!

    6. Norah, Your beautiful post moved me so much. I think our loving Father blesses us with a super sweet day after we have a miserable one. The sun always shines so much brighter after a dark stormy day. Your fellowship with your dear husband is the greatest date of all because you are bound together by your faith and love for the Lord. A simple carride in His presence as you praise His Name together beats any 5 star dinner in a fancy restaurant. Thinking of you and your DH and praying and believing your hubby's biopsy will go well. You know the Lord will be by your sides holding your Hands. We are all praying for the same for our dear brother MadFox. Thank You Jesus!

  4. Norah - AWESOME! God is near, we just don't get it sometimes and then you have days like yesterday where you realize how much your "little" faith is really God's RIGHT HAND holding you!

    Speaking of great days, I spent most of yesterday late afternoon and evening reading a book given to me by a mentor/friend. The book amazingly is called "The HAND of God". How about that coincidence given the JC topics of late (sarcasm). It's a paperback written by Alistair Begg. I have to admit that it is a tough read in the subject matter (explained below) and stylistically some topics are explained to non-biblically aware readers. I highly recommend to those in a "valley" spiritually or in their professional/personal life.

    To keep this shorter. I am in the middle of a "rough/steep path" to use JC language. I have questioned a lot of my decisions and how I've gotten to this "valley" in my professional and personal life... most of it after the first and only major surgery & hospitalization in my life. "The Hand of God" was such a timely gift by this friend. It is about Joseph and his life. A young man truly wronged by his family, employer, and friends. It is a story of redemption and how God used BAD people and circumstances for GOOD. It humbled me and made me realize that my challenges are not of God but of men and my failings/sins. And that God truly has held me in his RIGHT Hand to give me peace and to protect me until my time here is complete. Whether you read the book or not, re-read the Bible passages on Joseph (Genesis 30-50) and refresh yourself to how his life was a hint of Jesus to come and a role model for us today. Godspeed @paytonfamily blog readers. Peace and Amen.

AMEN MadFox, I am going to buy this book today, thank you for sharing, I love the story of Joseph and how the very people that intended to get rid of HIM were the ones GOD allowed him to be the greatest blessing to. He is a great example of devotion to GOD no matter what! He knew who he was but most importantly WHO'S he was! thanks again!

      That book does sound great and I love the story of Joseph too. Amen, God's daughter! What faithfulness He showed to Joseph and what a heart of love Joseph had for the Lord. We are all part of God's plan and He won't be done with us until we meet Him on that perfect day.

  6. Heavenly Father, I give this day to you and thank you that the Power given to me, freely, is the greatest gift, ever. Let me so freely give to others, in my time, being gracious and yielding on insignificant matters (which when I think about it, most are!).
    When I read our posts from this time last year, I was right back there celebrating Charlie's life. With all of the construction going on in our house, I have found little mementos and Charlie's card from his service was one. What a wonderful man, who took not one day for granted. His ability to love and give kept him alive 20 years after a terminal diagnosis.
    With the coughing and congestion that we've had for about 2 weeks now (construction dust), I find myself berating myself and then fear sets in and then I condemn myself for that. "However, there are pitfalls that you must be on guard against: self-pity, self-preoccupation, giving up." It'z that old SELF thing that keeps coming back.
    Lord, I pray that you remind me that as I give, I will receive. "Pressed down, shaken together and running over shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." Let FEAR take a hike and inspire me to love this body that you have given me. Help me to be humble to words of wisdom from my husband, my friends and family. Help me to remove the cavalier attitude that I will always be strong and healthy in spite of doing things to my body that I know harm it. (If 'we are what we eat,' I'm in big trouble!). Help me keep my mind on you and remember to call out to our Lord, Jesus Christ in all temptations to fear, self indulge and then feel sorry for myself.
    We are funny creatures, aren't we? The days that I feel like Paul (that which I don't want to do, I do...) ARE lessening, but I want to be known as the woman who trusted in her Lord at all times. I give all of this to you, with all humility and thankfulness in the name of Jesus Christ.
    And, MadFox, I'm going to look for that book at the library! I said that last year, too!
    Love and prayers to and for each of you, dear JC Family. I pray that your day is the best, filled with all of His mighty blessings. Praying for Lisa and all of the others who ask...your prayers are mine.

  7. Morning glory and blessings to the King of kings and Lord of lords. Thank You Lord.
    This is all I need to say/sing this day:

    I need Thee every hour,
    Most gracious Lord;
    No tender voice like Thine
    Can peace afford. I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
    Every hour I need Thee;
    Oh, bless me now, my Savior!
    I come to Thee.

    I need Thee every hour,
    Stay Thou near by;
    Temptations lose their power
    When Thou art nigh.

    I need Thee every hour,
    In joy or pain;
    Come quickly and abide,
    Or life is vain.

    I need Thee every hour,
    Teach me Thy will;
    And Thy rich promises
    In me fulfill.

    I need Thee every hour,
    Most Holy One;
    Oh, make me Thine indeed,
    Thou blessed Son.

    I need Thee, I need Thee, I really need Thee this moment of my life, when all efforts are lost, when all hope is lost, when the heart is broken, I just need Thee right now and will ALWAYS need Thee every day. Thank You Jesus for being my Saviour.

    We have asked, but let's keep on asking and trusting, because we shall receive from the miracle working God.
    Stay blessed.

    1. Amen dear Maplewood. He sure knows I need Him because I say those three words so often, He must be tired of hearing them. But I do not allow myself to slide into self pity when things are not going my way. I just say: "JESUS" and then things look brighter because I brought Him right into the forefront of my mind and let Him reign in my heart. I can do all things through Him and I am more than a Conqueror in every situation. I sure will "keep on asking and trusting" because I have already seen His faithfulness so many times before. Praying for you dear Maplewood. Much love and gratitude for filling me every day.

  9. My readings this AM spoke of David and Peter. MadFox’s post from last year brought attention to Joseph. All were far from perfect yet all held a deep love of the Lord in their heart...and yet they still were imperfect but God’s grace was sufficient for them to be used by God to His glory. Each of us are no better or no worse but just as forgiven as they were. Each of us, evidenced in our faith, are chosen by God to be His beloved child. You may have not chosen you (you could give numerous reasons), but your opinion of you does not matter, only His does. You beat yourself up for your shortcomings, He wraps His arms around to let you know He loves you and always will. He did that to David, Peter, Joseph, and countless others throughout the scriptures. He does that for each one of us. There was an R & B song several years ago by Ne-Yo with the main line “Let me love you until you learn to love yourself”. Let the Me be God in those words and let us each learn to love our self as David, Peter, and Joseph and many devout believers in time have done. The JC writings are all about how to love your self. Let Him love you; learn to love your self. He sees each of us as lovable, how can we think any differently. You are lovely, dear child of God, because you are totally beautified by His grace in your baptism.

    With love, Bob

We are all His beloved children as His Spirit bears witness. We are all dearly loved and taken care of. God bless you dear Brother.

  13. Prayers for each of you on this Monday morning - Praise to Him from Whom all blessings flow. As I reread the posts for the last couple of years, I had smile that, again, for the last two Sundays, my Dear Hub and I have attended Celebrations of Life. Last week was his beloved Coach and yesterday, was for a man who has been present in our community for years. I have been helping his wife as part of my casework and throughout the years I have had an opportunity to talk to several of their 6 children. This woman, this wife has seen pain (they lost their oldest son several years ago) and yet she is so resolved in God's Word that there wasn't an ounce of self pity, only thankfulness for God's many blessings. She was the last to speak in yesterday's service and it was amazing. She ended with the song, Is He Worthy by Chris Tomlin. I am posting the words for you below. Prayers for MadFox as he begins testing today and for you, Min Ahadi, as God gets you to work and meets your needs. We all know there is no such thing as coincidence when it comes to our Lord. I reread MadFox's post re: Joseph and smiled. Our teaching in Fellowship yesterday was about Joseph. After all he was going through, the next verse would be, "And the Lord was with Him," or "Joseph prospered. He was in prison and yet, he prospered. He never forgot God's many blessings regardless of his circumstances. Have a blessed day, JC Family and know that each of you are in my prayers.

    Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?

    He was David's root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
    Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
    Of all blessing and honor and glory
    Is He worthy of this?
    He is
    Does the Father truly love us?
    (He does)
    Does the Spirit move among us?
    (He does)
    And does Jesus, our Messiah hold forever those He loves?
    (He does)
    Does our God intend to dwell again with us?
    (He does)
    Is anyone worthy?
    Is anyone whole?
    Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?

    He is David's root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
    From every people and tribe
    Every nation and tongue
    He has made us a kingdom and priests to God
    To reign with the Son
    Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
    Of all blessing and honor and glory
    Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
    Is He worthy of this?

    5. Norah, What a blessing to hear these Celebrations of Life! Especially hearing the Coach’s wife speak of her faith with such total trust in the Lord and conviction without self pity despite suffering the great loss of their son. That is such a heavy cross to bear. My cousin and her husband lost their son to a tragic accident about 6 years ago and it is the worst thing that can happen to a family. But your faith can carry you through it because you see He never leaves us in our sorrow and He fills the hole in our hearts with His love and comfort as only He can. Those lyrics were beautiful and heartfelt. Thank you for sharing them. Praying for you and your husband as you prepare to go for his biopsy. Praying for our dear MadFox who is already being tested for his biopsy. You and your families are in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong. We love you! Joining in all prayers.

    4 Things You Must Quit To Come Closer To God.
    #1. Is Worry --- Worry is worship to the devil. And God said we shall cast our worries unto Him and be anxious for nothing. So give it to God and let Him take the weight of your worries.

    #2. Speaking Word Curses Over Your Life. Life and Death are in the power of the tongue; what you speak you become. So stop speaking negatively
    over yourself and loved ones, instead start speaking God's WORD over your life and the life of your loved ones, so you can start to see yourself and loved ones the way God does.

    #3. Allowing Your Fears to Control You.
    The devil is a liar. God does not give you a spirit of fear. The enemy places fears and doubts in your mind to prevent you from becoming who God has called you to be. But remember, God walks before you and He's always with you, so why should you be afraid.

    #4. People Pleasing --- Stop making decisions based off of what other people will think about you. When you're walking with God you aren't necessarily going to be liked by everyone because you make decisions opposite of what people think is right. Focus on pleasing God! HALLELUJAH!!!
