Jesus Calling: February 26

I am leading you, step by step, through your life. Hold My hand in trusting dependence, letting Me guide you through this day. Your future looks uncertain and flimsy--even precarious. That is how it should be. Secret things belong to the Lord, and future things are secret things. When you try to figure out the future, you are grasping at things that are Mine. This, like all forms of worry, is an act of rebellion: doubting My promises to care for you.
Whenever you find yourself worrying about the future, repent and return to Me. I will show you the next step forward, and the one after that, and the one after that. Relax and enjoy the journey in My Presence, trusting Me to open up the way before you as you go.

Deuteronomy 29:29

English Standard Version
“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Psalm 32:8

English Standard Version (ESV)

 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

I was reminded yesterday that the Presence of the Lord was the reason for the tabernacle in the Old Testament. This author speaks of Presence a lot and it was starting to gnaw on me and yet I was reminded that this was really the most precious thing and the real purpose and importance of building the temples, so that God's presence could be present with the people. But, when Jesus came, he dwelt among us or tabernacle-d among us. His presence was now with us.

That is the point of these prayers. God's presence is with us. He isn't distant. He is right there with us. He is giving us strength and promising for us a new life in Christ. We are to walk in Him daily, not thinking about the future, but today. We trust Him for tomorrow. If we worry, we repent. That is a good reminder to see my sin and then repent and turn from it. Acknowledge it. I am to enjoy life and sin masks the meaning of life.

My Prayer
Lord, help me to trust You for today and focus on today. May I not be worried or concerned about the future or things that I don't control. I pray that I would plan well, but not at the expense of trusting You. Forgive me for doubting you and worrying about the future.

  1. Father, help me to set aside everything i think i know about you, everything i think i know about myself, everything i think i know about others. For a refreshing experience with you God. A different experience with others and a much desired new experience in my own recovery. on awakening i think of the 24 hours ahead. God that you would remove thoughts of self seeking, dishonest and self pity. May my thinking shift from get to give. i relax and don't struggle, for this is your will and almighty plan. Each time i am agitated i humbly tell myself Thy will be done. i meditate on direction for the day.Show me the next step as i stay in the present moment.reminding myself beauty is not the channel of love, provision is nnot the channel of love, children are not the channel, Comfort my heart when creditors call(help me to bless them) they are only doing their job. Thank you for the mercy you have given me and my family. thank you for my sponser, thank you for hope of my program. Amen

  2. "Whenever you find yourself worrying about the future, repent(!)... I will show you the next step forward, and the one after that, etc..."

Sarah's devo has been on this theme for days, but I think this passage sums it up best. Don't worry about the future, if you do repent of that fear; and then Hold his hand as He helps with each new step forward.

Father, in times of trouble, You know that our immediate concern is the future and its impact on us and our family. While you remind us through this devo and Your written Word to cast those fears aside and to grip Your hand, we still doubt. Today, help to remind me and others that Your love is a light on the path forward and we are safely in Your care now and always. Amen

  3. Reminds me of the song, "I don't know about tomorrow, but I know who holds my hand." My sister and her family were without power from Sunday evening until last night around 10:00. They resolved that they would be fine - they'd told it could be several days. It was back on by last night. They prepared for the worst but believed for the best. Lord, let me have that believing.

    1. Thanks Norah, I don't know about tomorrow either, but just for today I'm Singing:
      I don't know about tomorrow
I just live from day to day
I don't borrow from the sunshine
For it's skies may turn to gray

      I don't worry o'er the future
For I know what Jesus said
And today I'll walk beside Him
For He knows what lies ahead

      Many things about tomorrow
      I don't seem to understand
But I know Who holds tomorrow
And I know Who holds my hand

      Ev'ry step is getting brighter
As the golden stairs I climb
      Ev'ry burden's getting lighter
      Ev'ry cloud is silver lined

There the sun is always shining
There no tear will dim the eye
At the ending of the rainbow
Where the mountains touch the sky

      Many things about tomorrow
      I don't seem to understand
But I know Who holds tomorrow
And I know Who holds my hand

  4. Can you imagine how you would feel if you were so heavily in debt that you are about to lose your home and everything you owned. It happens. Then an anonymous person decided to pay off the banks and the creditors wiping the slate clean. Imagine how grateful and free that would make you feel. Jesus did just that. He wiped the slate clean of the millions of daily sins we commit knowingly or unknowingly.Food for thought.

God never promised a life without struggles (depression, bills/finances, parenting, temptations etc...) but He did promise He would be with us EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. Open our hearts to His presence, even among darkness. Look for the light in all things. Absolutely, our Lord knows I personally need to remember this as well! Peace and God's blessings on each of you today! Amen.

AS I read all of the comments from last year and how relevant they are today I was convicted that I need to do more repenting about my worrying and fears and less worrying and being full of fear! I thank GOD HE has brought us this far and I know HE will fulfill each of our purpose according to HIS will and why we are still here! Thank you for your great insights and prayers it really encouraged me this morning! I will be meditating on "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you" all week because this is what I need! Please be in prayer with me, I feel the Spirit is leading me to quit my job in faith so he can lead me in a direction HE can use me to be a blessing for others and I just need to know it is HE that is leading me to do it and not ME! Thank you so much for showing up here and sharing your heart, each of you are a true blessing especially the Payton family who answered GOD's call to bring us all together! Luv you to pieces all the way to heaven!

  13. I find it very ironic how Ash Wednesday and my birthday fall on the same day this year. It's never happened before and I consider it a gift from God.

Here is a snippit of my prayer readings from this morning:

    MATTHEW 6:1-6, 16-18

Friends, in today’s Gospel, the Lord prescribes prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as our Lenten disciplines.

The Church traditionally says there are three things we ought to do during Lent, and I put stress on the word do. In recent years we’ve emphasized the interior dimensions a little too much—that Lent is primarily about attitudes, about ideas and intentions. In the traditional practice of the Church, Lent is about doing things, things that involve the body as much as the mind, that involve the exterior of your life as much as the interior.

The three great practices of Lent—prayer, fasting, and almsgiving—are three things you do. This is going to sound a little bit strange, but my recommendation for this Lent is, in a certain way, to forget about your spiritual life—by which I mean forget about looking inside at how you’re progressing spiritually. Follow the Church’s recommendations and do three things: pray, fast, and give alms. And as you do, pray to draw closer to the Lord as the center of your life—and the reason you do everything.

Reflect: How do you think the practices of Lent, specifically prayer, almsgiving, and fasting, can lead us to a deeper relationship with Christ?

  14. Heavenly Father, this morning I feel so much joy and peace. Just waking up and being in Your Presence is priceless! And to seal my praise and thanks to You, it's Ash Wednesday! the day that marked the beginning of the Lenten season! Hallelujah to the risen King!. It is a season for self examination, self evaluation and self discipline. Thank You Lord! May You grant each of us Your grace to stay connected to You in this solemn season and beyond in Christ Jesus name!

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law” (Deuteronomy 29:29).
There are two important truths in this verse. It first reminds us that our knowledge is limited, and there are so many things about God and this universe that we never will know. But God knows them all. His knowledge is limitless. We don't know what will happen in the next second of our lives, but God knows and because He does, we are to trust our future into His capable hands.

This verse also tells us that there is so much we can learn about God and His will. How? God has revealed it to us, Hallelujah! He has revealed what we need to know in and through His Holy Words! The Bible is an important source for believers, it is God’s Word. In and through it, we come to the knowledge of who He is and how He wants us to live in this world. Importantly, the Bible directs us to Jesus Christ, the Saviour of this world who came to deliver us from our sins and grant us the gift of Salvation/eternal life with the Father!

Lets make God’s Word part of our lives, and seek to live by its truth every day.

Remain blessed and in His Grace! Happy Ash Wednesday.

    2. Our Bible Readings for today remind us of The secret things belonging to the Lord our God; the things that are revealed belong to us AND TO OUR CHILDREN FOREVER, that we may do all the words of His law.
And we are further reminded that HE will instruct us and teach us in the way we should go; and HE will counsel us with HIS Eye upon us.
The earth belongs to YOU, O God! Everything in all the world is Yours, even mine, even me! Thank You Lord! Praise You Lord!

  24. Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing me safely to the beginning of this new day. Thank You for keeping me safe through the night, and I pray that today may be a day where I live and move and have my being in You. Lord, I pray that the words that come from my mouth, the thoughts that are formed in my heart and the motives behind all my actions, words and thoughts may be pleasing in Your sight and honouring to Your name.

Lord, I pray that You would be both my guide and my restrainer in all I do and say today, so that my words and deeds are not a work of my own flesh but are guided by the promptings of Your Holy Spirit. Help me Lord, to walk in spirit and truth, and keep me today so that my eyes are looking to Jesus and my ears are open to Your still small voice. Oh Lord, I pray that You are glorified in all I do.

Keep me I pray from all temptations, and deliver me from all the evils of the day. May today be a day when I learn more of You, so that I may grow in grace and in a knowledge of my Lord and Saviour. Help me therefore, to walk humbly before You all the days of my life. In Jesus' name I pray,

    Amen.

  25. Dear Blessed Jesus Calling Family - we are home, safe and sound. The procedure went very well - better than the one 7 years ago, though the Nurse Practitioner who did the procedure said it is probably the ONLY thing that hasn't improved in all of these years. She was so kind and caring - OH, and, YES! They let me go in with my Dear Hub!!
We are home - we both promptly fell asleep for about a half hour - I think more emotionally tired, than anything. Updated the family and received "Rocky" GIFS (arms up - Victory!), hearts love and sweet messages from kids, daughters-in-love and believers who are praying for us.
At one point, I had to wait out in the Waiting Room (still unsure they'd let me go in) and I quietly prayed in the spirit. Not only for DH but for each of you.
Still praying for your Brother, Brie - not only that it all goes well, but that he recognizes the blessing he has in you. Happy Birthday Suzanne! And Jeanne - SO excited that you get to cuddle that precious little boy. You and Rick will be the Light and make a difference while you are there. You are planting seeds all along the way, which will be watered and God WILL give the increase!
Min Ahadi, continued prayers for you and as Jan said, you are already doing the right things; taking the right steps. You are taking it to the Lord, in prayer. Someday soon, we will hear of your victories and rejoice with you.
MadFox - continued prayers, Brother. Couldn't help but think of you, your DW and RN Daughter throughout the procedure today. So funny (?) that we are on the same path - one that we were praying and hoping to guide you through and now, guess what? We're in the same boat, which Our Lord will keep steady and promises to calm any rough seas.
You, Dear JC Family, including (especially) the Peytons who set this up are a God Send. We have a treasure here on these pages and I'm ever so thankful. As I read some of the past posts, and now know the outcomes, it is even more poignant to me how we have served our Lord by helping each other. I am praying for you, Dear Bob - and looking forward to hearing your words of wisdom, soon.
And now (drum roll), I think I'll go order pizza for DH and me! Love and Blessings to each of you.

No one else can direct us into exactly what God has for us, except Our Creator who knows us intimately. When our focus is upon Him, and we are not dissuaded by anything else, He is able to bring us through the unknown territories we must travel through in order to reach our destinations. These small destinations are many and the process of arriving at each one will take a skilled and knowledgeable leader. With this verse, God is reassuring us of His devotion and desire to get us where He designed us to be. 38. JC nails it again today. Gratitude for EACH DAY. I've written many times on this difficult and challenging word as it applies to our faith journey. The opposite, as I told a client a few days ago, is envy. When in dire circumstances, it is understandable to be jealous, envious, bitter, of those who are wealthier or healthier. Why me Lord? I've read several articles and books that respond with, "Why not me Lord?!"

To be sure, I'm no pillar of faith. Have certainly had anxiety about my future. Concerns about my legacy and impact on family and friends. And am no hero (as a veteran, that word is used very cavalierly of late), but I can be and try to be a positive role model as I journey through my new life post-cancer diagnosis. I write this to say that many prayerful people have prayed and begged God to extend their lives, or cure them of their cancer. Why some do get healed and others do not is only within the mysteries known to God.

Regardless, your prayers were meaningful, helpful, and kind, these past 2.5 years. All glory to God for what was considered to be aggressive multiple myeloma, to be responding to the"miracles" of modern medicine as formulated in the brains of the men/women who were created by a God, who cherishes each and every soul. Hard to believe that there continues to be healing, and all one can do is be reminded:
"Gratitude is the beginning of a journey to meet each day with an intent to be a role model of faith, and if possible, of positivity." MadFox Feb 2023!

With sincere appreciation to you all. Keep the prayers coming for all who linger here! Amen.

I must drive home from my Mom’s at 8 to sing in Church and I was up starting a painting for a dear friend. Decided to stop in to see who needed prayers and your post was just what I needed to read. I’m so glad that God has been faithful to you through your treatments and also that you are a beacon of light to so many people. I share in your gratitude and understand how you feel. God is so much greater than cancer and I am trusting Him with every fiber of my being to heal me. His Word never fails and I believe in His promises. You are my inspiration and my friend. I believe my next Pet scan in May will be a reason to rejoice. Thanks dear brother. You sure know how to lift me. God bless and heal you always and all our JC Family including me in Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen
      2 Corinthians 4:16-18
“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

      2 Corinthians 12:9-10
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

  44. Just Decreeing and Declaring for this Day to: My Everything, Heavenly Father, My Mighty Warrior King, Jesus, who saves, My Most Powerful Holy Spirit, I thank You for this Wonderful Day! I sooooo appreciate You and that You are on the inside of me. Now, Holy Spirit, what are we going to today? The Favor of God is upon me. Who are we going to touch? I am just going to go with You and I am going to watch the KINGDOM of GOD happen everywhere that I go. I am STRONG, Kicking demon butts, and Releasing Heaven to Earth! I have the FAVOR of GOD as His child! HALLELUJAH!!!

There was a time in my life that I didn't know negative words coming out of my mouth was actually a weapon the devil was using to defeat myself and to try to keep me from moving forward in the things of God. But, NO MORE!!! Now, I worship my Lord and turn to Him for my Joy and Strength. Our Joy and Strength is not based on the circumstances around us. Our Joy and Strength comes from the Lord, and He doesn't change with the circumstances of life. So I now speak words from THE WORD! Our words create our future! This brings Great defeat and seriously aggravates the devil!

Job 22:28 "Thou shalt also decree a thing and it shall be established unto thee and the light shall shine upon thy ways."
This scripture is a powerful confirmation to the power of spoken words. When we Decree and Declare God's Word, we are acting in His Authority and Power He has Given us. Hallelujah!!!
Great Love and Blessings to this Awesome JC Family! We serve The God who brings us miracles of healing, deliverance, forgiveness of sins and salvation. And He is The God that fed the multitudes with five loaves and two fish, who stood the sun and moon in place until the nation of Israel defeated their enemies, and The God who causes Giants to Fall! GOD will show us the next step forward, and the step after that, and the step after that, so we can relax and enJOY the JOurneY in His Presence, trusting Him to open up The Way before us as we go. Therefore,
    I'm taking it
    Step by step
    Bit by bit
    Stone by stone
    Brick by brick
    Step by step
    Day by day
    Mile by mile...
    Well, there's a bridge
    And there's a river
    That I still must cross
As I'm going on my journey
    Or I might be lost
And there's a road I have to follow
A place I have to go
No one can tell me just how to get there
But when He gets me there I'll know!

This worldly road is rough and ruined
So many dangers along the way
So many burdens might fall upon me
So many troubles I may have to face
But I know His Spirit hasn't failed fail me yet.
So I'll hold on to His Spirit, and
Until I get to my Heavenly Destination
I'm going to take it slow
    and make it there
    Step by Step
    Bit by bit
    Stone by stone
    Brick by brick
    Step by step
    Day by day
    Mile by mile
    I won't give up
I'll hold on to what He's got
    I won't give up
I've got to keep on moving on and don't stop
    Even when I'm hurting
And even when I'm blue blue
I'll let His Mercy see me through while taking it
    Step by step
    Bit by bit
    Stone by stone
    Brick by brick
    Step by step
    Day by day
    Mile by mile
