Jesus Calling: April 15

Trust Me, and don't be afraid. Many things feel out of control. Your routines are not running smoothly. You tend to feel more secure when your life is predictable. Let Me lead you to the rock that is higher than you and your circumstances. Take refuge in the shelter of My wings, where you are absolutely secure.
When you are shaken out of your comfortable routines, grip My hand tightly and look for growth opportunities. Instead of bemoaning the loss of your comfort, accept the challenge of something new. I lead you on from glory to glory, making you fit for My kingdom. Say yes to the ways I work in your life. Trust Me and don't be afraid.
Isaiah 12:2
English Standard Version
“Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the Lord God is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”

Verse Thoughts
“Salvation” is taken, as in the New Testament (John 4:22; 1Peter 1:9-10), as meaning more than mere deliverance from danger, and including the highest spiritual blessings. This verse is also a quote from Exodus 15:2

Psalm 61:2-4
English Standard Version
from the end of the earth I call to you
    when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock
    that is higher than I,
for you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the enemy.
Let me dwell in your tent forever!
Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings! Selah

Verse Thoughts
I have often seen in western movies where people will hide themselves behind a rock to shelter themselves or hide themselves from gunfire or battle. Thus we see here we are led to the rock, to something that is my refuge. But it is also higher than I am. A Savior or Redeemer on the same level as us could not save us. We must have one that is supreme over all things, that which is divine. Psalm 62:2,6,7 says God himself is my Rock.

2 Corinthians 3:18
New King James Version
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

My Prayer
I will not be afraid because You God are my salvation, my strength and my song. You have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. Let me dwell with You forever, hidden under the shelter of your wings. Help me to not forget you are Near.

  1. All Things work together for good to those who love God.
    Romans 8:24.
This happed yesterday on Palm Sunday. I was scheduled to pick my daughter up from Tri Cities Regional Airport at 8:30 PM. About 6 PM I received a call from my daughter who had just landed in Atlanta with the news all flights from Atlanta were backed up and they weren't scheduled to depart until 10:45 if they were lucky. While standing in the information line she and another passenger discovered they were both going to Tri Cities. The other passenger decided to rent a car and drive 4 1/2 hours to Tri Cities. The other passenger invited my daughter to share the ride. My daughter offered to share the cost, the passenger said it wasn't necessary that their company would pay for it. While standing in the rental car line my daughter said she saw a rainbow and it reminded her of God's promises. God is so good.
Sending prayers, love and blessings to my JC Family. Thank you for allowing me to share "All things work together for good to those who love God."

    2. What a blessing to read your post this morning, Sassy Mom! It encourages me to trust Romans 8:24 and know that as I "grip the hand" of my Lord, everything will be OK. I feel 'flat' from all of the events of the last week. I'm seeking that newness that comes with the celebration of His resurrection. Today, my youngest is 30 years old. What a blessing he is to my husband and me and all of of his siblings and his sweet family. We will celebrate this evening. I so enjoyed everyone's sharings yesterday. The encouragement, exhortation and light was a blessing. Happy to hear your good report, MadFox. Everyone have a great day - blessings!

  2. "Take refuge in the shelter of My wings... look for growth opportunities... Trust Me and don't be afraid." A great message for TODAY. He gives us free will so it is a choice! He offers to shelter us under His wings. Is there anyplace more secure than under the protection of God? Of course not! We may be in a rough period but in Him all things are possible so He encourages a new path, a new way, a different path but all under His protection. Therefore as His child FEAR not! Fear is a Liar. (insert melody here). And in Him, there will always be "sweet victory". Godspeed to all and may He bless your today.

We all have our storiess, journeys that have been long & hard. Out of the muck & mire He pulled me out! Who am I Lord that you would lead me to the Rock that is higher than I? May I reflect this day on the suffering you are about to endure to get me there. I love you Lord & thank you!

How many voices are being raised right now, asking the Lord to pull us out of the muck and mire. He inclines His ear to our cries for help. He looks after us and our loved ones, and guides us to make the wise decisions that keep us safe, and He, in his mercy, comforts us in our times of great loss. Thank you for lifting me today.

  4. This reading today was just what a needed to hear. My son's birthday was yesterday. He's 36 years old. He's so alone and has no zest or ambitions. I feel like such a failure as a mother. His childhood was really rough with an alcoholic father. I am broken today feeling so heavy with grief and sadness. Afraid for him and his future. I know Jesus is bigger than these concerns and I know he loves Eric more than I ever could. Eric dosen't know God. I wish he did. I just pray one day he will. My heart is broken. I know there's opportunity for growth here along with healing. I want to look past my circumstances and seek his face for it is there I find comfort. I believe in miracles and I believe God is working in Eric to move him. I leave this pain here today and pray for the love and prayers from this community to change his heart that he may find what I have found in loving God! Thank you for listening and thank you for your prayers.

  5. Praying for you and your son Julieanne. For you that you won't take on the guilt as his Mom. Wouldn't it be great if our children would all get stamped with a guarantee against trials when we give birth to them. I feel that as soon as they give that first cry, their journey begins towards finding their own faith in the Lord. We need to set them free to do just that. Scarry though as it is. Jesus paid for that guilt on the cross. Just continue to be a prayer warrior for him. The enemy cannot have him! He is being put through the fire, a refining to shine bright for kingdom work. Bank on it. Watch & see what the Lord will do. Amen

  6. The scripture today should end with who Love God and are called according to His Purpose. His purpose sometimes is hard to see.I'm 73 now a waitress in Renton Washington Lead me to Jesus when I was 23. When I pray, read, witness or whatever I set out to do, all these years I've always asked the Holy Spirit to Lead me to the Purpose of Jesus and He has. That's one of the reasons Jesus sent Him to earth, To ask Him.Julian I pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal Jesus to Eric and show Eric that Jesus is Alive and has a special Purpose for
His life.one of the main reasons the Spirit is here is to bring us life and that mor abundantly. Read Hebrews 11:6 The end of that scripture says He is a rewarder of those that DILIGENTLY seek Him. The reward is not material things but the very presence of God in our lives. God touch Eric by your Holy Spirit and let Eric see and receive Jesus, show him how wonderful and exciting this Life in Christ is, Amen

  10. Heavenly Father, thank You for a new day, a day in Your presence filled with many gifts along the way. Lead me to take hold of these gifts and not be afraid about what tomorrow holds, but trust in You with my whole heart. Thank You for counting me worthy for Your Kingdom. I take refuge in the shelter of Your wings, in Jesus’ name.

Some Christian believers are more like unbelieving believers. We trust our friends, family, our jobs, pastors, the bank, the government etc., more than we trust God and His Word. Trusting God is not a one time, on-again, off-again thing. Each time we are attacked by disappointments, loss, evil, pain etc., it is like another Trust Test. Trusting God is believing that He loves you and knowing He’s a good God, that He has the power to help you, and wants to help with an open arm. Sometimes people thing that believing in God entitles them to a problem free life, but scriptures like Isaiah 43:2 says: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, the Spirit of God comes to live inside us. This means we don’t have to go through our problems or sufferings alone. God yarns for us to turn to Him especially during these times. Life can be simple and peaceful when we come to God like little children and tell Him we don’t want to live on our own, we want to trust Him. When we don’t know what to do, we’ll trust Him. When we don’t understand why, we’ll trust Him. When we do our part by trusting Him, He’ll take care of the rest. Psalm 9:10 “And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.”

Dear Father, Please help us not to lean of our own understanding, but to trust You and not be afraid, but say yes to Your ways and will for our lives, in Jesus’ name.

Trusting God for Your safety. Remain Blessed.

    1. Amen, Maplewood. Every day is a Trust test. Do we lean on our human emotions of fear or doubt, or do we trust and acknowledge the Lord in all things and remain in his presence? I remember how secure I felt holding my own father's hand when we walked through an unknown place. I knew as long as I held his strong hand, I would be alright. I told my sister yesterday that I'm not afraid because I know Our Father will carry us through this Pandemic, because He is our DADDY and we are his beloved children. Have a blessed day and remain in His sweet and protective presence.

  11. EASTER WEDNESDAY

(Luke 24:13-35) Two men are heading back to Emmaus. Two men who had taken an interest in Jesus. They had listened to Him teach, they had watched Him heal people and they had become convinced He was from God. These things had led them to have hope He was the one to set Israel free (vs. 21). They had it all figured out and hoped accordingly. When it didn't worked out as they thought it should, it led to their present state of mind and heart. They were discouraged, disillusioned, disappointed, and downcast. But because they truly wanted to believe within their heart Jesus as their Lord, Jesus joins them on their journey, not just to walk alongside of them but to jump into their hearts helping them to see what God wanted the Messiah to fulfill. Their hearts burned and are being purified from the negatives that they have allowed in. When He appears to be continuing on, they say, "No stay with us and share a meal with us." They are liking this guy whoever He is. "Let's eat. Here, companion on our journey whoever You are, would You break the bread for our supper." (Gasp!) His hands that are breaking the bread have nail prints in them. Their eyes are now wide open, they truly see who He is. He has a name. This is Jesus. And with that He disappears for they now have their hopes clarified. Without further ado, they spring up from the table and run back to Jerusalem to tell His faithful followers all that had happened and how they came to realize who He was in the breaking of the bread.

"We had so hoped..." How often we set ourselves up for disappointment when we put too much detail in our hope. Our JC readings call us to trust in Him, and leave it there. We do what we are given to do but the direction on where things are going are up to Him. We can cause ourselves to be disappointed but He will never disappoint us.

God be with you, brothers and sisters in Christ. With love, Bob

We can cause ourselves to be disappointed but He will never disappoint us." So very true! I'm doing the job God has given me for this season. At times I feel a ping of guilt because I'm not doing various things I used to do at church. Then God reminds me to turn my focus back on the job he has laid before me, raising these sweet souls, allowing Jesus to raise his children by living with through me. My focus must remain on what his purpose is. Thank you Lord so much for allowing me to do your work here on earth.

  12. GOD IS LOVE (I John 4:16-21)

John 3:16 says it all in one sentence. I John 4:16-21 provides the details of that truth. The rest of the Bible could be considered as commentary on the theme, 'God is love'. Our JC reading above speaks of our feeling more secure when life is predictable. If that be the case, then let us be secure because it is all so predictable: we have been loved; we are being loved; we will always be loved. Everything stems from that root. We are loved and the measure to which we hold this dear within our heart will be evident in the love we show as the I John passage amplifies.

God is love. What more can be said? What more needs to be said?

God be with you. With love, Bob

    1. Henri Nouwen's thoughts on the love of God are worthy of contemplation:

"Jesus himself interprets this trusting in the unconditional love of God in face of so much evil in the world by comparing God’s love to the light. He says:

'Though the light has come into the world people have preferred darkness to light because their deeds were evil. And indeed, everybody who does wrong hates the light and avoids it, to prevent his actions from being shown up; but whoever does the truth comes out into the light, so that what he is doing may plainly appear as done in God.'

Jesus sees the evil in this world as a lack of trust in God’s love. He makes us see that we persistently fall back on ourselves, rely more on ourselves than on God, and are inclined more to love of self than love of God. So we remain in darkness. If we walk in the light, then we are enabled to acknowledge that everything good, beautiful, and true comes from God and is offered to us in love."

    SECRET OF INTERCESSION PRAYERS
Last week while my head was struggling through "understanding" The Secret of Intercession Prayer, I asked many of the same questions Madfox and others asked yesterday.
In essence, Why does the date on one package of good tasting expensive cookies expire before a cheap store brand?
I was led to Proverbs 3. Could the answer to our questions be ...when you want Favor, Good Judgment and Common Sense, then...
    (drum roll please)
...Trust The Lord completely; don't ever trust yourself nor lean on and rely on your own understanding? Put God first in everything you do, and He Will Direct The Path and crown your efforts with success!???
Should the final eight words in all of our prayer brackets be, [Not My Will But THY WILL BE DONE]???
I wonder, I wonder, I wonder, but do I really want to know? Or would I prefer continuing in the fantasy game of a Santa Claus God or a Vending Machine God??? Or comparing two lives and deciding which one I think should be allowed to live a bit longer on this earth??? Or thinking God died, and left me in charge??? Or satisfying whatever I use for gratifying my illusions of control???
Thanks for opening up the real life chapter on INTERSESSION Prayers for JC Warriors to share any Light they have received.

  16. “I do not pray for these alone [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for [all] those who [will ever] believe and trust in Me through their message, that they all may be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe [without any doubt] that You sent Me. I have given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected and completed into one, so that the world may know [without any doubt] that You sent Me, and [that You] have loved them, just as You have loved Me.” (John 17:20-23).

A Prayer with so much Love and Power! The Son of God, not only was about to lay down His life for us, but He also prayed to His Father for all believers! God heard the prayer of His Son for us, knowing full well it was going to please Him to see His Son on that cross for our sake (Isaiah 53:10)! How can I not Trust Him and say yes to the ways He works in my life? I’ve asked myself that many times when the trials loom and when the waiting period seems excruciating. Scripture tells us of God’s goodness and how He acts on behalf of those who wait for Him (Isaiah 64:4)!
The secret for the success of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Joseph, Daniel, and ALL the faithful saints in the old and new testaments, was their ability to Trust and Obey God! They rejected discouraging words, they recognized the true nature of the battles they faced, they responded to the challenges with positive confession, they relied on the power of God and they reckon the VICTORY (see 1 Sam. 17:32-37, v. 47, 26, 45, 47, and 2 Kings 6:17). In a nutshell, they Looked Beyond what they could See to what God Sees! When we turn our hearts toward God and trust Him, if necessary He will move heaven and earth to show us His Will (2 Chr. 20:12). Why? because He loves us that much! Triumph comes because of God’s ability, and when we place our trust in Him, we are able to tap into irresistible force that no one and absolutely nothing can succeed in opposing!

Faithful Father, I give thanks to You for yet another blessed day. As we eagerly anticipate Jesus’ return, please keep us living productively for Your Kingdom. Help us to look into the eyes of all our Goliaths and declare to them that we fear them not, but TRUST in the power of our Almighty Creator! Please develop our trust until it becomes unshakeable just like You did for King David. We give You thanks for honoring the prayer of Your Precious Son on our behalf. Thank You for Your grace that is sufficient for ALL! It is in His (Jesus’) name I pray. Amen.

    Blessing and Peace.

Have Faith in Him and in our prayers to Him, Yes; in our own selves or our own limited worldly understanding, No.

Post.. I would only add now this morning in re-reading that sometimes the answer is yes and sometimes no, but in your wisdom you determine how it is best. May we humbly accept either answer.

Another way of showing intercesorry prayer as a discipline that is a mystery is the email I got today from my Doc. "Total hematalogic remission". It was the result of a test that showed no signs of any MM cancer markers in my blood.

God I do not know how the prayers of a few or thousands impact the outcomes of events, but you told us how to pray and to do so without pride. Thank you for answering our prayers for Janet, Norah, Brie, Jeanne, and so many others here. Sometimes the answer is no, may we grow in the acceptance of Your will. In Jesus' name, Amen.

  19. Praying the prayers of our hearts for full healing or whatever we are asking for says to God, You are God, you’ve told me to pray, and I will do it. The specific answer is not my concern, but His. When we pray we say...I’m yours, God and I trust you with my situation or the person I’m praying for. If we worry too much about how or when or what to pray, it becomes more about us, and not our trust in Him. I reach up my hand for His almighty power as the Mayo “tumor board” will present my daughters case presented for review for possible future treatment on April 22. She is only 43 and has 3 young children and earnestly desires to be free of colon cancer. She has responded well to the chemo so she will possibly be considered for surgery or radiation. Thanks for any and all prayers for full healing. God knows what is best for her and I pray that the specialists in that room will be guided by the Holy Spirit as they discuss her treatment. 22. I wanted to share with all of you something I found out. I had started having some major health problems starting last year and didn't know what or why it was happening. When my roof came crashing down and I had to leave, I now know that I apparently had been breathing in mold and didn't realize it. God saved me -- yet again. Thank You Jesus. I prayed for healing and He did. (There are other things also, but they are still in progress). God works in mysterious ways, but ALWAYS for our good and His glory. I am still having issues getting through to talk to anyone at unemployment. I had already received the acceptance letter and an email back in March saying I didn't have to do anything else, but file weekly, but I haven't received any money in a month now. And every week I have to put in all the past week claims again. I've even tried faxing, emailing, and I mailed them a letter, but I still haven't heard back yet. Prayers are more than appreciated. I know that God is working on it (as well as everything else). Thank you all for your prayers, thoughts, and support. I am so grateful and blessed to have all of you in my life. Praise God. He is so amazing! Hallelujah!

Call the office. If they are like the one I work in, they can put you on a Congressional Inquiry list. Sometimes, it still takes weeks, but we have helped a lot of people get their money. You can put the zip code where you are staying or your last address. Keeping you in my prayers and thank God you are out of the mold.

    It's never been outrun
    By anything I've done
    Its never been too weak
    To heal what's hurting me
There is no depth of shame
    That it cannot erase
There is no heart so torn
    That it cannot restore

    Oh the blood
    The lamb of glory
    Shed with love
    To change my story
    Flowing now with unending power
    Oh the blood of Jesus

    Its never seen defeat
    From my enemy
    This rushing crimson stream
    Reaches through eternity

    Oh the blood
    The Lamb of glory
    Shed with love
    To change my story
    Flowing now with unending power
    Oh the blood of Jesus

    Every sin, every scar
All the guilt inside my heart
Covered now, flooded by the blood of Jesus
    Reaching far, reaching wide
Every place I try to hide
Covered now, flooded by the blood of Jesus

    Oh the blood
    The Lamb of glory
    Shed with love
    To change my story
    Flowing now with unending power
    Oh the blood of Jesus

  28. 1 I stand amazed in the presence
    Of Jesus the Nazarene,
And wonder how He could love me,
    A sinner condemned, unclean.
    How marvelous! How wonderful!
And my song shall ever be:
    How marvelous! How wonderful!
Is my Savior’s love for me!
2 For me it was in the garden,
He prayed: “Not my will, but Thine.”
He had no tears for His own griefs,
But sweat-drops of blood for mine.
3 In pity angels beheld Him,
And came from the world of light
To strengthen Him in the sorrows
He bore for my soul that night.
4 He took my sins and my sorrows,
    He made them His very own;
He bore the burden to Calv’ry,
    And suffered, and died alone.
5 When with the ransomed in glory
His face I at last shall see,
’Twill be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me.

  30. I was driving home last and always pass a small church. Sometimes I’ll stop in the parking lot and pray. Last night, as I stopped to pray, I looked up at the cross on the steeple. And there it was illuminated in the night, with the full moon lighting up the sky through the clouds asa backdrop, I was struck with awe, wonder, shame, thankfulness, grief and joy. Thinking of my Savior hanging on that cross for ME?! Such love for such a sinner is nearly unimaginable. But through faith I humbly accepted this gift of grace and love and prayed a little prayer of thanksgiving. What more could I do-I have nothing to offer the Creator of the universe, Elohim, Yahweh, the Great I Am, but my belief in the Son, my Savior, my Redeemer, the Lamb of God and son of man. Today we remember His death on the cross, but Sunday is coming! Oh praise his holy name -Jesus! Rejoice, Jesus lives! Sunday is coming!!
His blood has washed us clean. Rejoice!

I noticed the full moon as I drove home from Church tonight. Such an emotional service. I was thinking it was appropriate to have a full moon on Good Friday. I sang the afternoon service but then returned for the Stations of the Cross. It was so moving. We must never forget all Jesus endured out of love for us. He made us clean and free and whole. We are anchored by our faith to Heaven where He is already at the right Hand of the Father. He is in us and we are in Him and someday we will see His Face.

  44. Whenever we realize our human weaknesses and our faults, we must also realize our strengths. God gave us those strengths and He shares His own strength with us. I had a very busy day today and forgot something important and felt very bad about it. I prayed about it and tried to set things right. God is my Best Friend. I told Him how I was feeling and I was comforted by His Word. He knows how fragile we are and understands us better than we understand ourselves. He is our constant Help and His Spirit is always guiding us but we must be alert to His nudging. When we are too busy, we overlook some of His instruction. Every new day is a chance to get things right and to please and glorify God. He is such a good and merciful Father. He forgives us for our shortcomings, and others forgive us for forgetting important things, so why is it so hard to forgive ourselves for our human frailties and failures. I was so upset today that I forgot an important event today, but I prayed with my mom and sis, and got home in time to sing for the Lord, and cooked a good dinner, and made my son's family happy, and baked cupcakes for my daughter in love and that gave God some glory. Thank You Father for loving me with all my faults and imperfections and leading me to be more like You, in Jesus' Name. Amen

    Psalm 103:13-14
As a father has compassion on his children,
    so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.

    1 John 3:2-3
Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

Speaking for myself (others may feel the same way too), I just don't see the 'changing from glory to glory'. I know my struggles; I struggle and succeed, and struggle then fail. Sad to say it seems I'm a yo-yo Christian.

I guess the 'glory to glory' bit means from my perspective incrementally, step by step, with ups increasing and downs decreasing, I am approaching completeness, while from my Lord Jesus' perspective He sees me as having already crossed the finishing line, fully complete.
He sees me changed into His likeness and my faith must be in what He sees not what I see.
Scripture says we're complete in Him - Colossians 2; the whole chapter is worth reading.
I trust your heart shall be blessed as mine was listening to the precious words in: 'Complete In Thee' https://youtu.be/B9UVh3Z_jN8?si=JIOUa3awEU9CQuxH

  47. We are all works in progress but every day out Great Potter molds us to His Image. Don’t look back! The past is gone but the future is in God’s mighty Hands. We can’t go back and fix things but we can always go forward in God’s presence. We must not chew on the bitter, only the sweet. Wish we could see ourselves through His Eyes. I feel so loved and cared for. Happy to be a sheep in our Good Shepherd’s Flock. He turns everything to good.

    Psalm 37:4-6
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
    Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.

  48. Appreciate the song and encouragement, Peter. Adding Romans 12 verses 1and 2,NIV
12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Especially love these sentences from your post -
“ guess the 'glory to glory' bit means from my perspective incrementally, step by step, with ups increasing and downs decreasing, I am approaching completeness, while from my Lord Jesus' perspective He sees me as having already crossed the finishing line, fully complete.
He sees me changed into His likeness and my faith must be in what He sees not what I see”

    God bless
