Jesus Calling: March 13

Learn to live above your circumstances. This requires focused time with Me, the One who overcame the world. Trouble and distress are woven into the very fabric of this perishing world. Only My Life in you can empower you to face this endless flow of problems with good cheer.
As you sit quietly in My Presence, I shine Peace into your troubled mind and heart. Little by little, you are freed from earthly shackles and lifted up above your circumstances. You gain My perspective on your life, enabling you to distinguish between what is important and what is not. Rest in My Presence, receiving Joy that no one can take away from you.
John 16:33
New King James Version These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

John 16:22
English Standard VersionSo also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

What the Lord is Saying to Me
Following the Lord doesn't mean that we are freed from having problems. Here we learn the importance of not letting our problems or circumstances mess up our life in Christ. In Christ we have a Joy of the Lord. That Joy is our strength. And our life is complete because of who we are in Christ. In Christ we have peace. As we live in the world, yes there is tribulation and trial, but we can approach our life in the world with good cheer because He has overcome the world.

My Prayer
Lord, I want to live a life daily with You. I want to follow You. So, help me Lord to not be engulfed with my problems or trials. Today, I will have problems presented before Me. I pray that I will walk with You through them and be of good cheer. And through it all my heart can still rejoice. No matter what the circumstance.

Note: The devotion and scriptures are from author Sarah Young. If you haven't already, please purchase the book and support the author.

  1. What Sarah is saying in this one is so true for me. When I sit in the Lord's presence All the Troubles of the world that chain me down to a big block of unmovable cement begin to break and what I've learned is that I am gaining the Lord's perspective and losing my worldly perspective. As I become lesser he becomes greater and the power of Christ in me literally overcomes the world as I sit with him.

    3. Thanks Riseup. Amen. All worldly cares and worries disappear when we really turn our eyes on the Lord. His peace permeates every cell of our body, mind and soul. He meets us in the silence. We know we are in the presence of the Lord.
From today's devotion, these words struck my heart:
"As you sit quietly in My Presence, I shine Peace into your troubled mind and heart."

  3. Reading ahead after this, very, long day. My heart is heavy. I've lived the last 12 hours with a woman who loved her husband and committed her life to him, and is now finding that he doesn't want her. 72 years old and with dysfunctional children and a husband who has vascular dimentiona, she is asking herself how to start again. All I've been told is, "Give NO ADVISE." Knowing my FATHER, and my SAVIOR, I HAVE TO GIVE ADVICE. Sorry, if you want me to SHUT UP, but, honestly I have to say, "In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:22. And, I have to say, "Jeremiah 29:11-13 New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Sleep sweet, my friend. God is on the 'WATCH.' Lay your head down and TRUST. I know, easy said, and hard to do.But, you can do it, because, He did it first.

  6. Sassy Mom! You are still here - I miss you and seek your heart. So wish I could call you some day! I would love to sit down with you..have lunch with you. Seek your wisdom. I remember the times you've told me that you are 80-something, widowed. Why is it that I seek those who have gone before me SO much? I have been blessed in my life with grea women of wisdom, so I guess that's where I go when I'm weary. Have to tell you, tonight I am weary. I am tired to the soles of my feet. Exhausted. Heading to bed - my comfy place. Where I know I'll be met at someplace with my one, true love. The one who prayes for me, wakes me up if I oversleep - my guy. I am so thankful. So sleepy, but thankful - for my fellow-believers. 'Nite

  8. Amen to all of the wonderful Scripture references and praise reports above. And now for mine: two colonoscopy procedures this morning and I'll be out of here tomorrow, Hallelujah! I must be grateful for so much:

    1) That I have likely evaded, after 12 years, a worsening of my 'mild' state of Crohn's disease.

    2) That my boss and other folks in my workplace have been supportive enough to allow for my absence during two of the most important days of our Company's work week.

    3) That a forced fast was imposed upon me through God's grace which has resulted in physical and spiritual healing I most likely would never have pursued nor experienced on my own.

Please pray for my wife and two young children as they spend just one more night (the 4th, however) without Daddy. Love you all.

    1. I woke up anxious this morning and began repeating the 23rd Psalm. It occurred to me there were words that I knew by heart but did not really understand how they fit the "Shephard" narrative. So I decided to break it down and Googled the first phrase that wasn't clear. "He restores my soul". How does the Shephard restore the soul of a sheep? The first link that popped up was "tabletopmagazine.com/He restores my soul". (Hopefully this is the correct link because I don't know how to go back and check without losing my connection here). Anyway, this link describes exactly to what I had been thinking. Hope it helps someone here. Love, peace and blessing to all.

  10. My intention was to get on here and post a comment from yesterday, but as I read the devotion and comments you have all reminded me of a truth I know so well but having a hard time holding onto right now. Thank you Norah , Sassy Mom, and Randy for the scripture. These are all verses I stand on so firmly , but seem slippery right now. I told a friend last night that I can speak words right now for others reminding them of their hope, but for me I'm so scared but I have to say God's will be done. To give a brief explanation and request your prayers. My husband and I are foster parents to our grandchildren. We have had the children for almost 2 years. Our daughter has signed off so that is settled ,but one of the dads is trying to prove he can parent. In these 2 years the 2 year old has seen him about 15 times. The baby was sick yesterday and we were suppose to take him to the foster agency to have a visit with his dad. We needed to take him to the emergency room for a fever of 104 and a rash. The foster worker offered to the dad to go (she didn't think he would do it , but he did). So my husband and I sat out in the waiting room crying while our baby was in the room with the foster worker and a man who acted like he knew him, but the baby wouldn't have anything to do with him. As I sat there I read over and over (honestly for about 1 hour) the devotion and comments from yesterday trying to get it into me ,trying to have it sink in. Now we are concerned that they may consider him getting the baby back. It makes me sick to my stomach. There are so many more details , but this is already long enough. I know when I get some sleep (I've been up with him most of the last 2 nights) I'll have a clearer view of all of this. I pray that God uses what we experienced yesterday for our little guys good and his glory! His perfect will be done!! By the way thank you Norah for the updates, praying God gives you the strength and wisdom you need in this and each of the situations you work with. Randy very thankful that your getting the medical help you need. I had been praying for the doctors to have wisdom about the 1,2 or 3 surgeries you may need. Prayers and love to all of you crying baby signing off, TERRI

  15. Regardless (a poem)
Dear Jesus these thoughts of mine
    Why are they so intertwined
With so much going on am I so blind?
When I try to go in my strength
    My heart begins to sink
To the point I cannot think
Cause these thoughts weigh me down with everything going all around
Different tasks before me unpleasant vibes from others please restore me
I’m like a fish swimming under water under ground
But unlike them I’m about to drown
Oh my soul why are you so downcast in me
Be raised up with joy is my hearts plea
My focus becomes my distractions then my emotions cause my reactions
My heart my soul my mind have to connect to Your divine
    In order to rise above
all the turmoil I need Your love
And Your grace I am so weak
My heart longs for You to seek
My flesh it fails me it is so weak
I feel so alone in these thoughts of mine
Show me I’m not give me a sign
Let me follow and respond like Jesus when...
    I am tempted from within
My mind it will play tricks on me it makes me think things that may not be
But regardless of that which I don’t know
Grasp my hand don’t let me go
Lead me guide me through this turbulent sea
Remind me often it’s not about me
And make this stubborn flesh of mine
Submit to Your beautiful and grand design
I love You Jesus help me
    Restore me
    Keep me
Let me know You never leave me...
    Regardless ❤️

    2. Sharon thank you so much for sharing!! These could be my exact words right now. I'm usually the one giving direction and speaking life into others through scripture, but this experience yesterday has wore me down a bit. I know I need to focus on what God can do through what happen. After my husband and I waited (trying not to cry) for over an hour in the waiting room the receptionist asked me if we would like to go back. I just said "yes that's our baby but it's not up to us, that the foster worker had to say it was okay." By the way our worker is wonderful she wants us to keep the kids, but it's not up to her it's up to the judge which is the one that gave the dad another chance at court last month. To this point the dad hadn't done anything he was suppose to do, but when they presented the adoption option in court he started playing supper dad. Our worker said we could go back. My husband stayed in the waiting room because he felt he wouldn't be able to keep his mouth closed concerning the dad. I went back and the worker was holding the baby because he doesn't know the dad. It was such a relief to hold him and to comfort his cries. But to be in that room and watch the dad act like he knows this child when the doctors came in was very hard to witness. My prayer is that even the dad understands the bond between us and the baby and decides that the little guy would be better off with the people he sees as his parents.
So, back to your poem, so many lines struck me deeply. When I read the line "Show me I’m not give me a sign" my thoughts went to please Lord show me a sign because I need you to hold me so desperately right now. Then I read "Remind me often it’s not about me." This is what I say to everyone when asked about how I'm doing, when I'm tired, or overwhelmed. My words are often to myself and others not about me it's about them, them being safe, loved and being cared for. Also the line "My focus becomes my distractions then my emotions cause my reactions" was how I responded to yesterday. Letting feeling take forefront in my mind instead of truths that are deeply planted inside of me. Truths like,
All things work together for the good of those who love him and called for his purpose! I do not have a spirit of fear but of power of love and a sound mind!! If God be for us who can be against us!!! This one was harder to process but, Give thanks in EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE, for this is God's will for you in CHRIST JESUS. Which prompted me to stand on God can use this for our little mans good and God's glory!!!! I have a 15year old son who is autistic (higher functioning) we pray every day while we're waiting for the bus. Yesterday morning we prayed that if God wanted the dad visit to take place it would. God not only had the visit take placed he upped it a couple of notches. The following verse is the verse my son calls his "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
Sharon now my head is lifted up, no more tears God's got this!!!! I am strong and courageous through the Holy Spirit!!!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT AND PRAYERS!!! IT MEANS MORE TO ME THAN I CAN EXPLAIN!!!!
with love to my brothers and sisters in Christ, TERRI

I had a "sit down" with God on Sunday morning before church seeking guidance. At church, my pastor preached on letting go of what is anchoring you down. The Lord has really been speaking to me this week with this blog. Over and over again they are about surrendering and trusting Him. I took a leap of faith and left my job. Please pray for me as I seek His guidance on what He wants me to do. Thanks so much for this blog.

    2. I am struck by your leap of faith. Over the past few years, that is how I have been living. I started making the analogy of a trapeze artist. I had a bad day at work and I can totally lose myself at times. Especially in the midst of chaos. I work with a lot of women with strong personalities, different opinions, cultures, backgrounds, gossip, etc. It can be quite difficult! I have realized upon reflection today I have trained myself for the fight or flight mode intensely. It seems when life throws a curve ball one or both of those is my reaction. What I long for is reaction in REST. You are right to cast back scripture at your circumstances!! I pray I will learn to have strength to do that more than not. I need to make flash cards with scripture and take them to work! Prayers for ALL of us to continue to allow the Holy Spirit to do a work in us because He said HE WILL COMPLETE IT!! Phil 1:6

  25. That is great news, Sassy Mom! I was hoping for an update. Continued prayers for Brenda.
I am asking for prayers for my sister in law and me as we go to the hospital today for her 'tumor marker' and blood tests. It has been 3 months and we are believing for great results. Father, protect us at the hospital from anything that could harm. Let our appointments be on time and the people caring.
My Hub is wisely not going to the hospital with us as his immune system is still considered somewhat compromised. I thought about getting her a ride, but how can she go without family being there to support her? I was surprised that they didn't reschedule, but that would have disappointed her as she needs to see progress from the last appointment.
My office is prepping for us to telework due to the coronavirus - a mandate that we have to adhere to. So, while part of my kitchen is still in my home office, I now have to set up my work space. God, give me the wisdom - what to do first, second, third. Order my steps in your Word. I am well rested and listening, Father, for Your words of wisdom and I am prepared to follow your prompts.
Thank you in advance for your prayers. AL GRL - prayers for you and thankfulness for your prayers as well.
We are a mighty people as we adhere to His Word. Guidance is promised.
"As you sit quietly in My Presence, I shine Peace into your troubled mind and heart. Little by little, you are freed from earthly shackles and lifted up above your circumstances. You gain My perspective on your life, enabling you to distinguish between what is important and what is not. Rest in My Presence, receiving Joy that no one can take away from you." I will hold these words in my heart, trusting that He will lead the way.
I will do my best to post Jinny's progress this evening. Expecting miracles!
God speed and God bless each of you, this day!

  26. I am so grateful to be able to come here daily to be with brothers and sisters in Christ. As usual, The Spirit has chosen Jesus Calling and this family to speak directly to my soul today. He meets us where we are. Thankfully not expecting us to reach to Him. A thousand times a day we try to do it (life) on our own, yet he still lets us back to Him. Prayers for all of the requests for healing, our God's definitely got this!!!

  27. And again! the on point JC devo as it seems to always be... "Trouble and distress are woven into the very fabric of this perishing world. Only My Life in you can empower you to face this endless flow of problems with good cheer." As the now global pandemic creates more hysteria, it is the Christian who can be the calming influence! I remember the fear of Aids killing everyone, the economy forever in turmoil post 9-11, and that Ebola would wipe out our medical staffs. While coronavirus is certainly a real threat, I have confidence that "this too, shall pass."

My adult kids are 3 very different personalities, mirroring the public reaction that we are seeing here in the USA. One is fearful that this could kill millions and life will never be the same. Our RN daughter assures him/us that it appears to be a stronger flu-like virus and gives us data from John Hopkins, saying that the reaction is media-hype. And one ignores the noise and just focuses on work. As I sit here praying over all of them and our team here... my mind keeps rolling to Jesus talking to His apostles in the "virus" of fear in many circumstances, and our Lord saying to them and us, "Fear not, for I am with you always." Godspeed, praying for healing and that the fear subsides soon. Amen.

I have many strong opinons about the circumstances we are encountering but I will keep those to myself. I pray for the TRUTH to be revealed and for those that don't yet embrace their need for Jesus for their salvation. Father, have mercy on us. Lord, hear our prayers. We trust you in all circumstances, and as we prayed yesterday, let us know this trust at the deepest level, not as partially filled words. In Jesus's name I pray.

  31. As I went back and re-read all the posts from the past years, I can't help but compare the issues we all were experiencing last year at this time vs now. What a difference a year can make. And now, with the corona virus pandemic that is wreaking havoc, my challenge is to keep grace in the forefront. I find myself frustrated with the media for their involvement in escalating panic and hysteria. When all is said and done though, I trust the King of Kings and know He will carry us. I choose to rise above these circumstances. I choose to show grace regardless of the reactions of the world. Peace, love and blessings to all of you.

  32. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10)

(Matthew 9:35-38) So we continue to move from town to town, village to village, and Jesus never wavers out of a pure heart from what the Father has called Him to do, "to tell the people I love them and heal their infirmities as evidence of my love for them." As we are approaching a town today, the crowds are streaming out to meet Jesus. His heart breaks to see people in such need of spiritual leadership and there is none. Even though God had established the means in religious structure for them to know of His love, it is not happening. The people have become a playground for the evil one. Jesus turns to us and says, "See how great is the need for people to hear of the love of God? Commit yourselves to prayer that God will send people to provide the leadership for these spiritually lost and confused people."

How do I see the world? I could easily fall into the trap of finding fault with the conditions of the world and blaming leadership. Though the thought of failing leadership is implied in this incident, it is not the focus of Jesus. His heart is concerned with addressing the need and He finds within Himself a new and right spirit to do so. Further, He is asking me to pray for those who will come as part of the solution as He is the solution. But I must be aware in my praying for God to send people, it very well may be me He chooses to send. Therefore, if I decide to pray, I better prepare myself to be available for God to use in His answer to my prayer.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, you see the needs of people and they are great. Many people have much to say in complaining about the problems, but Jesus emphatically calls you to prayer for God to send 'saviors' into the midst of the problems, to point people to the Savior of all. May God help us all to do. Peace! With love, Bob

  33. My Lord and Father, I thank You for this day and I’m blessed to be in it to enjoy the many gifts You have planted along the way for me. Lead the way and I will follow. Thank You for the showers of blessings this Friday morning. Thank You that the plants, flowers, crops, and the streets of NJ and NY gets to be watched down today. Thank You Lord!

Circumstances is kind of a circle we find ourselves standing in, but the Word of God says in 2 Corinthians 3:18, “We shouldn’t be standing still. . .we should be moving from glory unto glory”! This means my brothers and sisters, we should be leaving our circumstances behind! We need to seek answers in the Word and find ways to rise above our circumstances, no matter what they are. Because, whatever we speak is ours. We need to give all of our circumstances to God and rise above the tricks of the enemy. We all heard this at some point in our lives: “Don’t tell God how big your problem is, tell your problem how BIG your God is”. Philippians 4:6 (ampl) says, “Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God”. The moment we learn to turn over the products our circumstances (pain, brokenness, cares, anxieties and worries etc..) to God, we will then begin to experience an overwhelming release and peace into our troubled minds and hearts, knowing that He’s got our problems and taking care of them.

    Dear Heavenly Father,
We know that You are the One who overcame the world for us and we would rather have You watching over our circumstances. Thank You for the reminding us in today’s devotion. We agree that it’s time for a spiritual transfer and that is, transferring our circumstances over to You! We are not going to ignore the fact that You are far BIGGER than our circumstances. Forgive us of the huge tendency of sometimes letting the devil talk us into believing we have to live with or struggle with our problems. We refuse to live with our current mess, but turn it over to Jesus! Father, we pray that no matter what our circumstances, we ask Your Holy Spirit to keep us from being discouraged, deceived, deluded, defeated or destroyed by the tactics of the enemy against us. Help us to be positioned to say: what God, what are you trying to show us? We choose to Praise You for handling what we can’t handle and declare that our faith will not be stagnant. It must keep growing and we must keep believing and trusting bigger with every problem or circumstances we face. Thank You that a life lived in and through You will empower us to face ‘endless flow of problems with good cheer’! Thank You, because we know that You and Your Word will never change, but our circumstances can and will, but we choose to turn all over to You. We are making it Yours and not ours!

  35. A thought for you, my sisters & brothers in Christ:

The spiritual discipline of fasting is practiced to draw closer to God. One abstains from something in order to be open to the leading of God's Spirit. For example, Jesus went into the wilderness to have an especially intense one on one experience with God and to intensify that experienced He fasted.

Because of the concern for the physical health of the world, the entertainment industry (sports, concerts, and other forms of amusement) has ceased operation for a period of time. Gone are things to watch, to attend, and to be absorbed in for large blocks of time. These are preventive measures for the good of all. You might say especially during the Lent season, we have had a 'fast' imposed on us. So what will be the time usually spent being entertained be used for? A fast is used to abstain from something in order to be more attentive to God. During this 'entertainment' fast, one could use the free time for prayer, meditation, reading, service, and/or spending meaningful time with family and friends which is being with God (you know Jesus' words, "when you have done it onto others, you have done it unto me.").

For the good of the world, may you have a blessed fast from 'entertainment' and may this fast be for the good of all and the glory of God.

Just a personal thought. God be with you. With love, Bob

    1. This past year has certainly given us more time to spend with the Lord in prayer, meditation, serving Him and others and studying His Word. I am sure many people have turned their eyes to Him for so many reasons during this Pandemic. This is God's will and I am sure that when the clouds finally disperse, many will have been added to His flock.
My husband is an avid sports fan and this "fast" has been especially hard on him. But I am blessed to have been able to spend more time with him because he couldn't watch his games. So another silver lining. I have tried to reach out to others when as much as possible because loneliness in this isolation is a difficult burden to carry. Thank you, Bob!

  41. Good cheer and an attitude of gratitude were a big part of my past 4 days at Emory. This trip was 2 weeks prior to the transplant and was for the collection and storage of 8 to 10 Million stem cells from my body, which were then frozen. The experts want enough for a backup transplant if a problem develops or for a 2nd transplant, years down the road. 5M per transplant is the goal as it produces a better and faster recovery, but they will accept as low as 4M. There were a few setbacks and a surprise that It might take an extra day or 2 to collect enough cells to get to the minimum (maybe).

Stem cell collection requires a central veinous line catheter be surgically placed into your right upper chest (remains in 'til transplant discharge). The collection is done by a hospital bedside machine that sucks your blood out, spins it, and separates 2.5 times your blood volume, into layers where some modern tech miracle then extracts the stem cells. The third day it appeared I might not reach the minimum needed. Some patients produce 10M+ in one day, but the norm is 2 days. My production started low on day 1 and dramatically reduced on day 2. At the rate of drop off, I might not reach the minimum on day 3 which was Friday. Bottomlime, on Friday instead of declining again and barely getting the minimum, we collected enough to hit 10.3M, which exceeded the preferred level comfortably!

God throughout this time had my hand despite my fear that the collection might not reach the goal. Thus, I realized once again, how God has used each step of my journey for growth and to show His grace. Without doubt, your prayers and so many others continue to shower me with excellent results. Thanks JC Prayer Warriors on Team MadFox! God bless and Amen.

As I have been reading this blog “religiously”during the height of the pandemic, we have now come to the posts of a year ago when it was just becoming public “knowledge”. Oh how far we have come and what changes we have seen. Over 500,000 dead Americans caused by a slightly stronger “flu strain?” I think not. These novel viruses affect us differently as our genetic make up is different. This has been an opportunity to see many as they truly are and watch others shine forth their light. I have used this “fast”
as a time to get to know Jesus more intimately and renew my mind. Renewing my mind is a daily challenge and many of you have provided me with much wisdom and guidance. As we begin to see the light at the end of a long tunnel, many challenges will continue to affect us but I will say of the Lord, he is my fortress and refuge, my God in whom I trust. Thanks to all who post and blessings to those who don’t.

But those who wait on the Lord are producing good fruit every day because they trust in His promises and patiently await His plan to unfold. In my eyes, this pandemic has brought many closer to the Lord. Since they have been isolated there has more time to be still and know that He is their God and will never leave them.
Amen dear sister, I will say of the Lord, He is my fortress and refuge, my God in whom I trust.

  43. Giving Thanks to You dear Father, in the name of Jesus, for a new day, new mercy and blessings already lined up for a joyous day. Thank You for Your sufficient grace, power and strength.

In Luke 4, we learn that when Jesus started His ministry and was fasting for 40 days, He was tempted by the devil and prevailed! His responses revealed God intended purpose for all of us and a reminder of God’s provision when the people of Israel were wandering in the wilderness.
As God’s creation, our sole purpose is to worship and serve Him only in all that we do, so that we can bring glory to His Holy name! All of us have needs, but we should ask ourselves, are we trusting God or ourselves and the world to fulfill those needs? The name of our Loving God is “Jehovah Jireh”, the Lord will provide! Not only does He just provides, but the scripture says: “And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
He provides and gives more than sufficient for all us because Ephesians 3:20 tells us He is “….able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” That power is of Christ Jesus. Each time we trust God and wait patiently on His purpose, we will experience the fullness of His blessings and live above our life’s circumstances. And whenever we find ourselves doubting God, we need to be reminded of all the provisions He has already given and the blessings promised to us, and overcome the temptation to doubt Him.
When the circumstances seems to look impossible, rewind and remember that God has the best plan for you and that nothing is impossible for Him.
Believers don’t have to be anxious about any situation, because when we put our trust in Him and go to Him in prayer, He promised to fill us with peace surpassing all human understanding (Philippians 4:7), and His spirit will empower us.

Loving Father, Please help us in whatever circumstances we go through, to keep our focus on You and not on the circumstances. Turn us back to the scripture in Luke 4, where Christ Jesus showed us how to trust You above all of life’s circumstances through His responses to the devil. He brought the focus back to You His Father, and reminded us that we too can trust Your provision, purpose and plans for our lives. We thank You for another blessed day in Jesus’ name. Amen.

    Blessings and peace.

    1. Amen Maplewood, just the sweet sweet syrup I needed with my portion this morning. Jehovah Jireh will be my mantra today as I rewind to remind myself of all the provisions He has already given and the Blessings He has promised to us. With that, I am fasting from doubt; feasting on Trusting His Provision, His Purpose, and His Plans for our lives. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

    2. Thanks sweet Maplewood for your beautiful encouragement. Hope you are feeling well today. Trusting in Jehovah Jireh to provide all my needs. And waiting on His purpose to receive the fullness of His blessings despite my circumstances. What a Great God we serve!!! The praise goes up and His blessings come down. Thank You Jesus!

  44. Brie, I am praying for the spirit of anger to leave KM and restore him back to who God intended him to be, in Jesus’ name. You are also an overcomer, distress is NOT your portion! You can do all things through Christ Jesus!

Jeanne, so sorry to hear about the loss and your son job, but please remember Whose he is! He is the son of Jehovah Jireh! Our God will provide for him. Staying in prayers and trusting God for his turn around. Keeping Greg, Abby, Chris and the family in prayers for comfort and peace.

MadFox, continue prayers for you in Jesus’ name. God is working out ALL the details for His glory!

I’ve been late posting or missed a day or 2two after my quiet reflection time alone with God, and it’s also getting busy at work, but I read the post and praying for and lifting up ALL the prayer requests to our Great and wonderful Counselor and Father, God! Remain blessed and stay in His peace this season and throughout!

My bday twin Bob, so glad to read your inputs again. There is nothing like a quiet time of reflection! As we approach Easter, I’m in anxious anticipation of reading and feeding on all your inputs. God bless you and it’s great to have you back!

    Remain Blessed.

    1. Thank you for your sincere prayers my sister. Greg and his family were over last night for dinner and we had little 2 yr old Gabriel for a sleepover. He is sleeping soundly thank God. I pray this situation will bring him closer to God. Chris and Abby will need counseling and God will guide them to all they need. He knows the sorrow and emotions in their hearts. I continue to lift my prayers to our "Great and wonderful Counselor and Father". Holding all of you in my heart and prayers.

  45. Tomorrow, the 4th Sunday in Lent, we reach the midpoint of the season as we make our way to the cross and the empty tomb. In my own Lenten discipline I am pausing to review what I have covered over the past three weeks. To do this well, I need you and thus I am posting again. To write to you is helpful to me in sorting out what God has to say to me. If it helps you in any way, so much the better.

"O LORD, you have searched me and known me..." (Psalm 139:1). God knows me through and through, I know that but... I do not practice that in life. I do not allow myself to be completely known. Over the years I have learned the practice of creatively hiding things I don't want people to know for if they knew everything about me, it might shatter the image I have worked at creating of me or they might not like me anymore or they may use it against me. All of these are reasons that keep me from being totally transparent. When I come to this blog, I have told you who I am, I have given you my name. But because I have told you who I am (and for all the world to see), I play games of 'hide and seek' so you don't know everything about me. Some of you have been more honest about who you are but you do so because you hide behind names that maintain your privacy and in one sense for good reason in this world where people steal identities and cause great havoc in people's lives. As a result, the game goes on and we all get good at being not totally transparent. The major problem with this all is that as we are with each other comes into play on how we are with God. The two cannot be separated as I John 4:20-21 makes clear, as we are with one another so we are with God. "Lord search me and know me" but like Adam and Eve, we keep hiding because we do not want to be seen as we truly are.

Yet with all this game playing that we have gotten so good at, we remain unfulfilled. As the psalmist says, "As a deer longs for flowing streams, my soul longs for you, O God." (Psalm 42:1). We long to be fully loved by God. But as long as we practice the hiding we do from one another out of distrust, that comes into play in fully trusting the love the Father has for each of us. How can we undo this bind in which we have placed ourself? For me, the answer would lie in being more obedient to the Father, for it makes me more like Jesus in lifestyle. The more I am like Jesus, the less need I have to hide from people as He did not hide His true self. Oh, indeed, some people will take advantage of my openness and do me harm just as they did with Him but in the end, He rose above it all into perfect fellowship with His Father. Perfect obedience can allow for perfect transparency both with each other and ultimately with God.

As I have opened up a little about me, I have done so not that you need to worry about me (I welcome your prayers) but for the purpose of helping you worry about you (and I pray for you). Our issues may be different but the reason we have them is the same, we are longing for the perfect love of God. In this blog, we can struggle together so we both can find that which we seek most...perfect union with God which is possible through Jesus Christ.

Thanks for being here. With love, Bob

    1. Thanks for sharing BOB. I am "sitting with" your honesty. As far as God is concerned, I often ask myself whether or not there is anything my daughter could do to make me stop loving her? The answer is absolutely nothing! If imperfect me knows how to love my child always and forever, no matter what, then how much more does my Perfect Heavenly Father Love Me, no matter what? Perhaps, He is the origin of my love, and I inherited some of loving from Him.
While I am sitting on this, I am singing and digesting,

Truth Be Told by Matthew West
Lie number one you're supposed to have it all together
And when they ask how you're doing
Just smile and tell them, "Never better"
Lie number 2 everybody's life is perfect except yours

I say I'm fine, yeah I'm fine oh I'm fine, hey I'm fine but I'm not
      I'm broken
And when it's out of control I say it's under control but it's not
      And You know it
I don't know why it's so hard to admit it
When being honest is the only way to fix it
      There's no failure, no fall
There's no sin You don't already know
So let the truth be told
There's a sign on the door, says, "Come as you are" but I doubt it
'Cause if we lived like it was true, every Sunday morning pew would be crowded
But didn't You say the church should look more like a hospital
A safe place for the sick, the sinner and the scarred and the prodigals
      Like me?
      Well truth be told
      The truth is rarely told
Oh am I the only one who says
I'm fine, yeah I'm fine oh I'm fine, hey I'm fine but I'm not

So let the truth be told
Can I really stand here unashamed
Knowin' that you love for me won't change?
Oh God if that's really true
Then let the truth be told.

    2. Thank you for your transparency, Bob. This is my morning devo. I come here bc I learn so much more about our awesome God from reading the comments. And most of that from you. There are parts of myself that I am not loving right now. Things that I do that don’t glorify Him. Learning to let go with open hands so I can receive the many blessings He has in store for me. As always, thank you for your insights. You inspire me.

    5. Epilogue to above post and after watching the video Brie suggested:

James 5:16 - "Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed." The reason people cannot get past their sins that they have prayed about at length is because the gift of confessing sins to one another has fallen on hard times for many of the reasons cited in my post above. Bonhoeffer wrote, 'when we openly confess our sins to another person, the demons within us become exposed to the light and demons hate light. It makes them flee.' The best place I have witnessed this taking place is at AA meetings, honesty, openness, acceptance, progress. Oh that the church could be like an AA meeting, a place where people can freely and safely confess their sins to one another as scripture admonishes and truly be healed. The format of this blog does not allow for this to happen here but MadFox has some thoughts how a space could be provided to enable that to occur. Stay tuned.

    7. The denomination I also worship God through has weekly (or more) confessions, as well as a reconciliation with Christ Service. Along with confessing my sins, failings, shortcomings, and sincere sorrow with desire to refrain from my 10 commandment breakages, as a 12 stepper, I suppose I could use this same confessional to make a fearless and moral inventory, and when I am wrong, promptly admit it and make amends...

    9. What Is Step 5 of AA?
“Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.”

What Is the Purpose of Alcoholics Anonymous Step 5?
This step helps ease the anxiety, depression and irritability of hiding the worst parts of you. You are able to rid yourself of isolation and loneliness.

Step 5 of Alcoholics Anonymous teaches you that you can be forgiven for your shortcomings and also forgive others who have hurt you.

How Do You Complete Alcoholics Anonymous Step 5?
Reveal your most distressing and tormenting memories to another person—most likely your sponsor.Be as honest as possible with that person and look at who you are and who you would like to become.Be vulnerable and don’t hold back.Accept advice from that person with an open mind.

What Are Some Tips for Completing Step 5?
Let go of reservations; don’t worry about being judged for what you’ve done.
Remember that AA is a safe and supportive environment and that everyone has stories they aren’t proud of.
Choose someone you are comfortable sharing with.

  48. Dear Bob, I had not read all of your post b/c of time constraints. I just read it and listened to Brie's song. What a blessing and how true it is. While I don't always show only my best side on this blog, it is, in part, due to my anonymity that I am able to be as honest as I am. I remain anonymous b/c of my work, and 'truth be told,' out of respect for my family. One of my sons knows I am Norah on here and someday (if he hasn't already), he will read about the struggles I've had. We share a lot in my family, already, but again, truth be told, there are times I could be more honest.
All that being said, if we saw ourselves as God sees us, we'd be so very thankful. If we believed what God believes of us, we'd be so much more powerful. That is always my goal. To believe what the Word says of me, though I often don't. And therein lies the rub. If I truly believed I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me, would I fear a mammogram? Would I be afraid of taking the plunge to quit smoking (again)? Would I do as one of my sons has and say, "No alcohol for the month of March - just cleaning my body out"? Maybe I would. In the mean time, I cast my cares the best I can and I thank God for this blog where I can 'journal' my life and on some days, see progress and growth. I can also see repeat problems, mainly b/c I don't take the needed plunge.
A good friend asked me one time, when I shared that I was embarrassed to let some people know I smoke, "What do you think your Father thinks of it?" I truthfully replied, "I have no qualms at all about my Father knowing every hair on my head, because He loves me, anyway."
On this site, I feel free to share my frailties and lack of perfection. Everyone is so loving, forgiving, accepting, that I have never feared being rejected or CANCELLED. I thank each of you for that and I thank you, Bob, for your insight, which I've always enjoyed. I look forward to getting my 'spark' back, for it has been dimmed in the last year. I know it will return, the moment I claim it.
    God Bless each of you!

So he will need the Ablation on 3/21. I'm still praying for God to heal him before that because we serve a Miracle Maker. I need some prayers because I caught my baby grandson's cold and despite all the chicken soup and tea with honey and lemon I have had, I may not be able to sing in Choir this morning. I'm giving this problem to the Lord and I'm going to sleep. He can do amazing things by the morning. I'll sit in a pew behind the choir and wear a mask the whole time. 52. I have had an interesting couple of nights awaking to what seem like odd messages to me. Then again, God's voice is not "odd" but the experiences I have had are a bit new to me. I have no doubt that in these sudden moments where I wake up and am encouraged to pray for names I don't know or geographic areas in the middle east I know little about, this is God inviting me to be the prayer warrior I keep asking to become. I have used "the Google" to check on these messages and now know that God is asking me (as he does in scripture) to pray for my enemies. Pray that they are touched by the Holy Spirit in no uncertain terms to receive the love of God and proclaim Jesus as King. So far in my relationship with God and prayer routine I think I've been in a holding pattern of comforting words and "easy asks". It's now a time of declaration in this spiritual warfare battle that is already won, but still needs me to step up as a child of God. I don't know if I've communicated this experience I'm having in the best way, but I was guided to try.
God bless you fellow warriors, as we strengthen the fight with prayer.

Early, maybe 4 to 5 am the name Harry popped into my mind. The only Harry I knew was a contractor who worked for me years ago. He lived over 6000 miles away. I prayed God's protection upon Harry. Later that day I found an email address and emailed him. His wife was quite incredulous at receiving the email. She informed me, Harry's new cars front suspension collapsed on the freeway. The car was totaled. Harry and a client managed to crawl out upside down through a broken window opening. They were both unhurt. Working out the time difference, Harry's accident happened exactly the moment I prayed. That's our God!

We are on different hours of the Night Watch. For me, it's usually sometime in the middle of the night. For him, it's usually early morning hours. He thinks, "Should I just get up?" and then he starts praying and before he knows it, he's back asleep and it's 2 hours later, but I have no doubt much of that time was spent praying in the Spirit, being quiet and listening. I'm thankful that he knows I will PRAY! I'm thankful for all of you on here, who listen, and heed that call.
