Jesus Calling: March 29

Stop trying to work things out before their times have come. Accept the limitations of living one day at a time. When something comes to your attention, ask Me whether or not it is part of today's agenda. If it isn't, release it into My care and go on about today's duties. When you follow this practice, there will be a beautiful simplicity about your life: a time for everything, and everything in its time.
A life lived close to Me is not complicated or cluttered. When your focus is on My Presence, many things that once troubled you lose their power over you. Though the world around you is messy and confusing, remember that I have overcome the world. I have you those things, so that in Me you may have Peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
English Standard Version
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

John 16:33
English Standard Version
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

My Prayer
Lord, I do this all the time. I try to work things out before their time has come. I take control. Instead of waiting for your timing, I seize control. I think I must get out of a trial quickly. Lord, I don't go to You first. I look to see if I have the money to fix it, or I ask everyone that I know for their opinion, I call upon so-called experts, but Lord help me to release it into your care. Train me to go to You first. You have overcome all that is in the world, so all I need to do is simply surrender to You. I want to rest in You.

  1. Thank you! So apropos for my life. Trying to "handle it on my own". Foolishly spinning my wheels trying to solve an issue that can only be solved by Him.

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to continue to place ALL things in your capable hands. Help me not to solve an issue independent of you, but to ACCEPT your will and the journey that you have placed me on.

  2. Yes lord I have learned that there is a time for everything.Ecclesiastes is one of my favorite in the bible ! Your timing is perfect thank you for this day and always let me remember you come first and to go to you first for all circumstances! Thank you Jesus for everything

  3. God's and therefore our perfect timing. As so often happens with 'Jesus Calling', the message today, nails my circumstances. With a longer term struggle, we often have an inordinate amount of time to fret over it. Here, we are reminded that if its time has not yet come... then release it to Him so that we can have JOY, TODAY. Fear not, because nothing in the future cannot be managed for good by our God.

Father, You use the gift of Your word and Christian writers to speak to our hearts and circumstances here. We worry and fear future events that we know will come our way; but in Your infinite wisdom, You lovingly say to lay that concern at your feet. Help us to give all of those future worries to You so that we can enjoy THIS day and share the light of You, the Son, and the Spirit to all we encounter today. Thank you taking on my sins and my fears. Amen.

    3. wow. Sarah's JC timing... A year later, and the thoughts from reading the devo are still appropriate for today. It is amazing how God can handle our tomorrow... I'm writing late Sat. night, and it's comforting that as I posted this AM, right now, our circumstances are causing us to "be still" and listen to His word as the world pauses due to CV. And He is saying Love one another. Amen

    6. Thank you MadFox! So many of us are frozen in fear, or discouragement or depression, and just looking for hope or a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. I am concerned but not afraid because I rest on God's promises and his faithfulness. I am so sad that so many people are suffering and dying. People are in dire need of food, shelter and medical help. The simple act of going to the store adds anxiety and worry to our day. So many people, and all those on the front lines, are getting sick, and dying. Our very hearts are weary. I trust in God and I wait for his help which is already coming. I see the faith of his people being strengthened. I see love being poured out instead of hate. I see good people giving everything they can to help. This is what God wants of us. These are the things that will remain after this Pandemic passes, and I know it will. Greater things are up ahead. God is with us and in this picture. He will never leave us. So right now, just to be still and know that He is God is enough for me.

    7. Dear MadFox. Something you said in 2019 really stuck with me and I was thinking your advice was written for yourself two years later. "Fear not, because nothing in the future cannot be managed for good by our God." I would say you need these words right now. They came right out of your loving heart to bring you comfort and reassurance in the future. No matter how difficult the circumstances are, God is in the picture and He uses the hardships to strengthen our soul and test our faith. All I can see in you is an amazing trust in God and an unwavering faith. You are a strong follower of Christ and you will not be broken because He is holding you together and guiding you through. I believe the best is yet to come in your life. Wait on Him as I know you do.

    8. SO TRUE, Jeanne! I think MadFox's 2019 entry rings such truth...especially with what we know now came into his life unexpectedly and yet, MadFox, you have handled it with incredible grace and faith in our God. Amazing to witness your walk, sir. To truly watch God at work in your life through this difficult diagnosis and treatment has ramped-up my faith even more. Your incredible trust in our God, Jehovah Rapha, to bring you through as well as sharing The Word with who are also going through this has been amazing to see. Your amazing courage and strength is awe-inspiring...and I know you've also been bringing the Word to others you've encountered who are going thru this as well as the medical workers. I find you to be a teacher of mine here in our JC forum and you were also a teacher throughout this present journey you're on. As Jeanne stated above, I too believe the best is yet to be in your life! Godspeed and Praise God who has brought you through this!

  5. One little email, "There was a clerical error and your paycheck will be not be available until Monday, April 1st." That's all it took to send me into a tailspin. Yet, my Father owns cattle on a thousand hills! Lord, help me remember that my needs are met. I deal with people every day who tell me they live paycheck to paycheck and guess who will have a little more compassion now? Taking a deep breath and knowing that He has us covered. Don't let me fret Lord; help me trust.
MadFox, I've missed your words of wisdom! "...release it to Him so that we can have JOY, TODAY. Fear not, because nothing in the future cannot be managed for good by our God." He knows and understands and I can get relief if I just trust Jesus!! Instead I spin my wheels till my neck is now in spasms with worry causing all over pain!! God help me to trust you and your timing and know all will be well if I release cares and worries of this life into your hands. Please forgive my unbelief and thinking I can do anything without Your blessing!

Isn't it interesting how these "tailspins" can become a blessing to us? A friend recently told me that "sensitivity is a gateway to love". Without sensitivity we cannot have true compassion or Love. And your current circumstances are awakening and cultivating that sensitivity!

This scripture has been strong on my mind for a long time; "and Jesus looked at him". It captures the essence of sensitivity, understanding, love, compassion, and God's timing.
God, you are amazing. May our eyes continue to be opened to your life flowing in and through us which transcends time and circumstances! Help us Father, in Jesus name I pray...

  10. Loving Father, I thank You for loving me and blessing me with life this morning. You are indeed the King of Glory! I stand in your presence today, inviting Your Holy Spirit to saturate my heart and soul. Thank you for the blessings you’ve given me and my family. Bless my heart to hold nothing back as I seek You today, In Jesus’ name.

To live one day at a time, we need to see that life is not only about tomorrow, but it is more about today and what God wants to do today. It can mean, reducing the degree of control we expect to bear on the uncertain future. It may not always be easy, but it's what God instructs us to do. When we have gone through each day with His mercy and grace, we should from a new perspective, count ourselves immensely grateful by nightfall to the Lord.
It is His recipe for our lives. We are called to live our lives this day and that day, when we see Jesus face to face! When we are hard pressed, let’s remember that our struggles most often lead to strength. Every problem in our lives, big or small is something God will use to grant us more strength, faith and perseverance if we allow Him to. Whether we believe it or not, all of our pain have purpose. Most of the time, God’s plans are different from our plans, but the good news is, His are always perfect (Jeremiah 29:11). We are wise when we seek the Lord’s guidance in our decision making. In doing so, we are promised a ‘beautiful simplicity about our life’. God has us to promised to never leave our side.
    Here’s an old hymn:
    'Moment by moment,
    I'm kept in His love,
    Moment by moment I've life from above;
    Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine;
Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.'

Heavenly Father, Help us to position ourselves and “accept the limitations of living one day at a time”. Thank you Lord for loving us and having the patience with us. Thank You for loving us even when we mess up. You are a faithful God. Thank you Lord for your mercies and grace toward us. Remind us daily that you are always with us, never leaving our side. We honor Your Majesty and rejoice in the Presence of Your Holiness. Thank You Lord everything.

This Sunday, take time to be holy and we receive rest.

    Blessings and Peace to all.

    2. As always, Maplewood, you have fed my soul and comforted my heart. Your words echo my own. I loved that old hymn too. God is with us at every moment. Our very present help in times of trouble, and we're in those terrible times right now. Uncertain, yes, but God already knows the future, and it will be a bright one. But, it also will be quite different for sure. I believe our faith will shine more brightly with a renewed strength. We will be comforted, encouraged and guided to better lives. Right now, all those suffering must wait on his faithfulness. Look back at all the times when He has lifted us up out of even the depths of despair, and set us up high, where we could praise and thank Him once more. His Words are truth, light and life. When the clouds of sadness disperse and the sun comes out again in full force, we will be united in true love, hope, thanksgiving, praise and brotherhood. God is opening our eyes, and softening our hearts to rest on his promises. He will provide for our needs and lead us to all joy and peace in believing. He will not disappoint. He has already flooded our hearts with peace through all of this. We just need to be still to feel it. We must keep anxiety at bay because if we walk bravely forward, we show Our Father that we trust in Him. Even those who have lost loved ones must lift their weary heads up, and seek help and guidance from Him who cares for them. He is with us now, as always. Our help cometh from the Lord who made Heaven and Earth. He is mighty to forgive and save. God bless us all.

  11. Ty Maplewood NJ for your message on today's reading. I really needed to hear/read aloud your message twice! I couldn't agree with you more. I have been waking up early, at dawn, to read Jesus Calling and scriptures from the Bible for about a week now. I am applying giving myself to the Lord again, as I have not been very proactive as of late in my walk with the Lord. In this last week or so I have seen a HUGE difference in my life. Not only am I just more positive and upbeat, but my heart is lighter, my mind does not ache from worry. Praying has become something that I enjoy! Sharing my day with the Lord is something that I do, so that I can talk it out, get it off my mind, and fill my heart with his love and compassion to then share with others. And I am please to say, that my life has changed from a negative perspective to a positive perspective. In conclusion I would just like to say....Thank You Jesus!!!

  12. Words cannot express how much I love Jesus Calling...
Isn't it just like our Father who tells us the great and marvelous things everyday that we need to hear!!!
I've been reading Jesus Calling for a couple of years and had left my book at home while out of town. Just like Him, to give us our hearts desire...I googled and found it, but also found you!! what a tremendous Blessing all of you are especially at such a time as this... I wasn't going to get on the blog because of time I may spend instead of my journaling, anything to keep me from my
time with the Lord. This blog is such an encouragement to all of us everyday...He speaks to me so much through the devotional, verses, and all of you!
May we all stay strong because we know in this world we are going to have tribulation but we have to keep our eyes looking for..
The King is Coming....those who don't know Him during this time, My heart can not even fathom... how they are surviving the fear and dread the world is speaking everyday...But thanks be to God, He has chosen each one of us to lift one another up and be His vessel full of Love and Mercy to this hurting, lost world!
May we all be the Light today to someone!
Much Love to all of you and your families!

  13. Fifth Sunday in Lent

There is not worship today as we are accustom but there is worship every moment we lift up our hearts to the Lord. I share with you this Sunday AM, the passages from the Revised Common Lectionary that are read in many churches, definitely in the Catholic churches and in many of the Protestant denominational churches.

First Lesson: Ezekiel 37:1-14 - The great story of the Valley of Dry Bones, the story of absolute hopelessness yet only hopeless in the eyes of human beings for when God chooses to move, all hopelessness is banished and new life begins.

Psalm 130 - the cry out to the Lord amidst the hopelessness that sin has caused and a trust in the Lord's forgiveness that is more certain than the sun coming up.

The Second Lesson: Romans 8:6-11 - reading from the Common English Bible, "selfishness leads to death but the attitude that comes from the Spirit leads to life and peace. So the attitude that comes from selfishness is hostile to God. It doesn't submit to God's Law, because it can't. People who are self-centered aren't able to please God. But you aren't self-centered. Instead you are in the Spirit, if in fact God's Spirit lives in you..." As it occurred at Jesus' baptism, the Spirit came upon Him, so, too, in our baptism, the Spirit is within us and He is breathing new life into heart, mind, soul, and body.

Gospel Lesson: John 11:1-45 - the raising of Lazarus from the dead. Within that wonderful story, when Jesus asks for the stone to be rolled away from the tomb where Lazarus has been laid, Martha exclaims, "Lord, he has been dead four days" (there was a belief in those days that when a person died, his/her spirit hung around for three days but after four days, the person is hopelessly dead). Into this spirit of hopelessness, Jesus intervenes and shatters the bonds of hopelessness and gives new life.

Simple sermon: Though we may deem things hopeless, that judgment does not exist with God. Further, God has the power to raise up new life when people have given up on others or even themselves. Let us remove the thought of hopelessness from our thinking both in these times and in any valley through which the Good Shepherd leads us.

Be blessed in however you worship today! God be with you. With love, Bob

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And in His word I do hope.
My soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning—
Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.

  14. CROWNING WITH THORNS (Matthew 27:27-30)

We now make our way to the hill of Calvary. Unfortunately, some are looking past the crucifixion to the empty tomb. During my 40+ years of ministry, I have sadly watched a decrease in observance of Good Friday. Unless we go by our Lord and Savior’s horrible suffering and dying , we run the risk of reducing His triumph over the grave to the levity of an egg hunt. Let us look again at what Jesus was willing to endure to save us. Let us see again how much He loves us.

“The soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor’s headquarters, and they gathered the whole cohort around him. They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and after twisting some thorns into a crown, they put it on his head. They put a reed in his right hand and knelt before him and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head. After mocking him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.”

What this whole scene throws into our face is the great paradox of the Christian faith: that the triumph of Easter is set up by accepting defeat on Good Friday. Some may say that because of our Lord’s victory over sin and death, we can avoid the suffering at the hands of evil. The difficulty of that thinking is then, what do we do with Jesus words, “If anyone would come after me, let him/her deny self, take up his/her cross, and follow Me.” ? The suffering of the cross is a part of our faith journey in some way or form. It paves the way for the ultimate triumph in our life to the glory of God. Let us go to the cross!

May these thoughts be used by the Spirit for your faith journey. God be with you. With love, Bob

  21. Dear JC Family, its time for me to ask for your prayers for my situation with my elderly mom. The time has come for me to tell her in the next day or so that I need help with her care and our lifestyle so we are moving. I'm hoping and praying that she will accept this move for the better and not feel cornered or scared. Her only other option is go into a care facility and I believe that would be harder for her to accept and then the loneliness there would be worse for her because she has frights and she is a recluse.
Please pray for her to accept this news. I've prayed continually for guidance and I believe God has been showing me this path. There are many complications still to get through. I believe if I can move her now before she gets weaker it is for the best once we get there. My family with 2 young 22 year old daughters will be in the same neighborhood. I will still do all the care, but with them near by I won't be alone.

Please Pray for my mom's acceptance and for me to clearly see God's guidance in this. Thank you more than I can say dear prayer warriors. This is a very hard time and an emotionally dominating time so today's Jesus Calling is spot on. God Bless you all. I pray for you every day without fail and feel so blessed as others have said that we have this family, a communion to love and care and talk with each other. Love, Kathy

    1. Dear Kathy, of course, pray as you are for your beloved mom as you approach this decision. When the moment comes to express this to her, don’t prepare a speech or have a set plan that you feel you have to execute, but rather take a deep breath, which fills you with the Holy Spirit, and approach her with all the love you have for her leading the way. In so doing, you open yourself up to the leading of the Holy Spirit and you might very well be amazed at the words that will come out of you, words you never thought of saying. That is the trust Jesus taught us to have when we appear before difficult situations. You have my prayers, Kathy. God be with you!

    7. Dear Kathy, I decree and declare this promise for you and your family. "The Lord is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:8). Please grant Kathy and family Your wisdom and strength to care for this precious mother that honors her and honors You, my Lord! It's in the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, that I pray. AMEN and AMEN

    8. From one in the same boat, with my brother, you can rest assured my intercessory prayers are continuing for you and your Mom, our dear Kathy. As Bob suggests, Luke 12 offers help:
...11 “And when you are brought to trial before these Jewish rulers and authorities in the synagogues, don’t be concerned about what to say in your defense, 12 for the Holy Spirit will give you the right words even as you are standing there...”
I recognize your Mom probably has a different set of circumstances and situations that are concerning to her, so I am only sharing my brother's stated concerns, for whatever they are worth or not. What also helped me was hearing his concerns, yet sticking with the heavily prayed upon decision to move forward:
      Feeling of being evicted;
      Fearing change while he feels so vulnerable, and is struggling to cope in a known place;
      Knowing where anything was in the new place;
      Fearing that he was moving that day;
I was able to assure him, he was not moving that day, that Jesus and I would still be with him no matter where we were, and he could select 3 furniture items he wanted in his bedroom.
The above happened over several days and I could see him inching toward accepting when he started making decisions about the 3 items of furniture.
I was also able to share with him a time I had to move and didn't want to, and how things worked out for the better.
The new apartment has been secured effective April 1 and the actual move in date is planned for mid April, no turning back.
I am joining into the gathering of prayers with our JC family, so I know, I know, God is in our midst! Who Better? Love you dearly, Brie.

    9. Dear Kathy, Joining in all prayers and praying that your good Mom will be receptive to the move especially since she won't have to go into a facility. And the fact that your 2 daughters will be nearby is a real plus for you. Changes are good when they are brought about by love. You are a wonderful caring daughter and no doubt you give your all to your Mom. Hope you remember to get your own rest so you can serve her and God better. May you see God's guiding hand on your path like a brilliant Neon light.
Dear Brie, Continuing to pray for you and your brother. That's wonderful that he has even started to choose the 3 pieces of furniture he will bring with him. You are doing a wonderful job and I pray the move goes smoothly and he will be content in his new home. Praying for all of our JC Family's requests.
Thank You Father for hearing our prayers and granting them as you see fit. We trust in You and wait patiently for your faithfulness, guidance and healing.

  23. Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God."

Good Morning JC Warriors, I've been reading along along each day, and am grateful for all your prayers and and positive thoughts/comments. Please know God is working on me, but also using me, and several times I've thought, I would never have been able to be in this position to encourage or even pray with these folks were it not for MM. Despite the circumstances, I have a beautiful room for a hospital, and a spectacular view of Atlanta at sunset... which, of course, then reminds me every night of the trio of songs. It's gonna be ok, truth I stand on, and miracles.

SITREP, day +3 transplant time line, 5 days now in the hospital. Very blessed comparatively to fellow patients. We can talk when walking or in kitchen/visitor lounge when we escape our room. Probably 10 more days to go, as I'm growing fatigued easier but am nowhere near the bottom of the chemo effects.. should start the upswing around 5 days from now. Still getting up, dressed, meet with docs nurses, who say short visits good. So far, it's all been a few minutes max with them!

Thanks to all. Virtual hugs, the Lord's Army at JC Payton Family devo community is AWESOME!

p.s. zfuntastic... You've got to write us an update since you'd been gone for quite a while! You're in victory lane, there folks here that can benefit from how you achieved your sobriety for the past year or ??, Godspeed, praying for you, Amen.

  25. Blessings this day, Dear JC Family. The sun is out and we are promised warmer weather.
Continued prayers for you, Dear MadFox. I am blessed with the view you have from your hospital room - nothing like God reminding you daily of His vast love for you. I am praying that the time goes quickly for you and that at some point, the Hosp Administration may still say, "We are letting your wife join you!"
Our teaching in Fellowship yesterday was Romans 8. It was beautiful the way the Word unfolded and that I was left with a goal this week to focus on what Christ was sent to do. We can mirror that tenacity, just as you are doing, MadFox. We set our expectations exceedingly, abundantly above the world. So, again, your view from the hospital room is a great reminder! Being joint heirs with Christ means we will be gloried together as well of being aware of the sufferings he endured.
God's richest blessings to all of you. Continued prayers for each request and in the spirit for when I know not what to pray. God knows!

  27. Most people including myself searching their whole life for money, for love, happiness and much more... we get hurt at the end. So let’s face it. Our plan for our life is suck. Gods plans are better! Much better! When I was sick at the hospital and I almost died, I saw gods face. He asked me if I want to leave this earth or stay here?! and then I realized that I have a choice!! To stay or leave!!!anyways I chose to stay only because I have a son to live for.. so I told god that I’m willing to suffer more in this world if I have to. I knew I was going somewhere better like heaven but I chose to stay here. After what happened to me I changed I’m not worry anymore about things or life. Asking why? Beacuse this word is just temporary! Remember that!

I trust you will guide our friend to the resources to make the best decision for her children's education. Our precious children are in great need of being raised with truth in schools that supports their parents.
This morning I woke up with three powerful messages, clear as a bell about the truth of the judgement of God. I thought I would write them down because I couldn't possibly forget the simple phrases. Flash forward to journaling time which I do first thing and try as I might, could not remember the words. God showed me that total recall is not always as important as the overall takeaway message I can recall. And that is, God is good all the time, He is righteous in His judgement, not for the purpose of punishment but for ENLIGHTENING us all in our choices.

And thank you, Chris for our Malachi 2 song and posting, just when I needed it most:
Over and over we see God telling us to not fear.
Deuteronomy 1:21 - Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
Deuteronomy 31:8 - And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Joshua 1:9 - Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Joshua 10:25 - And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.
1 Chronicles 22:13 - Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the Lord charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.
1 Chronicles 28:20 - And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.
2 Chronicles 20:15 - And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
2 Chronicles 20:17 - Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.
2 Chronicles 32:7 - Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
Isaiah 51:7 - Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.
Jeremiah 23:4 - And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the Lord.
Jeremiah 30:10 - Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the Lord; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.
Jeremiah 46:27 - But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.

We try to walk in control of our own lives most of the time because of something we fear and yet over and over the Lord reminds us to "fear not."

May God enlighten his doctors to give him exactly the right treatment he needs to be brought back to perfect health, and the strength for Sally that she needs at this hard time. Their son, Matt is on his way to be at their sides. Rick's younger brother Casey said his wife with Alzheimers had a seizure last night and she was brought to the hospital. She is waiting to have an MRI because these seizures just keep happening. Thanks for your prayers. We know God hears every one and He is mighty to save. God bless you all and answer your prayers too. Much love.

  40. Experience is a great teacher. God prepares us for our journey if we let Him. In seeking to be more like the Son, we have to live each day as it comes because we really don't know what it will bring.

Most of the time it is just another day. Some of the time, real daily challenges arise for which we pray to the Father to minimize them. And once in a great while, we encounter tragedy, illness, and/or death... this is where our daily practice of trusting God that He is working all things for good becomes challenging.

No one seeks to endure a tragedy or death. However, if we pray, have others also pray, and trust in faith that He will hold our hand through the valley, we will have peace. I've seen it happen, and nothing helps your faith journey like experiencing His walking side by side through that valley. Godspeed JC Warriors, thanks for your covering prayers these past 2.5 years.

  44. Good Friday, seems like a good time to share a 3rd year after "rebirth" with the JC blog community.

Let me start with a simple statement: Cancer sucks. All of its forms are insidious; from the impact on the mind to the ravages it exacts on the body. And yes, it’s a journey no one wants to take. In the past three plus years being treated for Multiple Myeloma, I’ve met many incredible people. One group is the entire medical team of “angels” who genuinely care about, and for, cancer patients. And of course, a group of incredibly kind patients, now friends, in various stages of the disease, both here and in heaven. And lastly, YOU, a group of prayer warriors right here, who encouraged me and prayed all along.

The true “blessings” of my journey to date is that in “visiting” (there’s humor in that word) the infusion center for almost 180 straight weeks, I’ve witnessed firsthand the love and care that is required in this battle. Seen courageous patients fight against all odds with highly aggressive forms. And LEARNED and recognized that any attempt to have my own personal “pity party” is disrespectful to those with much bigger challenges currently and ahead.

On Tuesday, March 26th, exactly 3 years from my stem cell transplant, my wife and I visited Emory for the results of my annual check-up. In today’s world, and with a Type-A personality, one can go online and view the patient portal for most of your test results in advance of the annual review. So, to be sure, our expectation was for mostly good news… but as all that have dealt with cancer know, there can ALWAYS be a surprise. In our case, there was a surprise but it wasn't what we expected.

Our Emory team said the results were as good as you can get, and in fact, that I could STOP ALL TREATMENTS save a low dose daily maintenance pill IMMEDIATELY (the schedule was to do so in June but not everything). It was overwhelming. My wife reached over and grabbed my shoulder, she had tears – and it was all I could do, to not drop to the floor in a puddle.

To be totally transparent, it is going to be a mental challenge to not “go to work” each week and see what is now family and friends. It’s a new chapter, and I’m so glad to be here. However, at the same time, feel so undeserving when you see patients each week who are hurting and have so much more of a tough road ahead.

As long-time JC bloggers here know, three and a half years ago, I went to a mountaintop to think and pray. While watching a glorious sunset, a song played that I’d never heard before. It was a Christian singer named, Tasha Layton, and the song was “It’s Gonna Be Okay.” While there I asked God to give me a lot more time and to use me for His purposes. I still haven’t figured it all out; but His miracle through the hands of clinical research, caring doctors, wonderful nurses, support teams, friends, my family, our kids, and most of all, my wife, has given me significantly more time. Thankfully and apparently, IT IS “gonna be okay.”

So, am BACK ON THE "MOUNTAINTOP" after several years in the valley. This will be the last update unless something changes in a year. Thanks for your prayers JC blog friends. Grateful that I can sing along with James Brown: “I feel good...” but I didn’t know that I would! Godspeed and Amen!

    4. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! I am a personal witness of the power of prayer and the power of Christ... Right here on this blog and in my life walk. Mad 🦊, your 3 year journaling of your journey has been life changing for more than just you.
My little month long medical challenges seemed like a mountain and a curse to me. Bloggers and friends have prayed me thru it. Yesterday I received not one, but two, clear lab reports that I had worried about. Yet, amidst the worry and doubt was the foundation of trust I have been cultivating here and with God's Word and promises. Take heart! Our minds may not change overnight, but God WILL when we ask, show us our progress.
WE know why it's called "Good Friday". Share the good news with someone today ✝️πŸ‘♥️

God is AMAZING and still speaks to His children !! It amazes me how easy it is to live in tomorrow instead of right now. I pray to savor every MOMENT of TODAY! I pray for any hardships any of you all are going through. If it is a season of mourning your season of joy is coming! If it is a season of waiting just hold tight and rest. If it a season of great joy then spread it around first to your families. And Lord help me to do the same. I am requesting prayer for me and my family to grow closer to God and to each other. That we will receive ALL HE has for us on this earth. That we will live in the fullness of our Savior each moment and rest in the peace that passes understanding all the days of our lives in Jesus Name Amen πŸ™ NO WEAPON formed against us will prosper!!

  49. Good Friday is the day of remembrance of Jesus being crucified on the cross. Jesus loved all humanity so much that He was willing to be betrayed, beaten, mocked, humiliated, and crucified. He suffered for all our sins and went to Hell in our place.

As we reflect on Good Friday and the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, let offer praise and thankgiving for the immeasurable love and grace He has shown us! HALLELUJAH!!!
