Lord, help me to not get ahead of myself and to thank you about today and focus on today. You tell me to be content. Help me Lord because I tend to continually look anxiously to the future for things that are not known and worry about future outcomes. Help me to stay in the moment. Lord, I realize that it is not natural for me to Trust You. But, You have clearly shown me who You are and what You have done in this world and in My Life. I want to trust You in all circumstances. Give me the Power to do just that. Help me to not focus on understanding before trusting. I pray that the mark of my life would be trusting You.

I want to thank you for your posts. Though I have the book, I had to move from my home suddenly and it accidentally got packed up.I read it every day, along with Jesus today, which is even more so focused on daily hope. ReplyDeleteI've been going through a serious illness and just got out of an abusive relationship with someone who just couldn't handle me being sick any more. At 57 yrs old, I had to move in with my mom, a very small 3 bedroom home. Quite humbling I must say, but I was grateful I had a place to go.
Not really sure why I'm telling you all this, except I guess I just needed to share with someone who seems to have a genuine spirit of God, and a compassionate heart. But mostly, just to let you know that what your doing is helping people, and your prayer truly helped me today. Trust has become a huge issue for me, even with family. But I am desperately trying to take it one day...sometimes one minute at a time, and trust in His love, grace, mercy and provision!!!

I just watched dear Shelly's video on YouTube, and it was heartbreaking to see the pain she was in. She struggled through her addiction, but she had faith and believed God would rescue her. I also read in the comments that, unfortunately, Shelley passed away. Praying that God's eternal light is shining on her. Rest in peace and power, sweet soul. Your pain is over.

ReplyDeleteThese words are exactly what I needed to read this morning. I think I have been reprimanding myself for the amount of work in thought that it takes to grab hold of trust. This statement makes me realize it's ok that I have to work at it and makes me grateful that God is willing to provide his supernatural power into me so I can walk in trust. Thank you!
This morning, I caught myself thinking about the whole week ahead and all that we have coming up this Friday and Saturday! I read today's JC and thought, "There I go again!" We are equipped to get through this day as we trust. And, sometimes it is a moment by moment walk. I will hold Matthew 6:34 in my heart...for myself and all of us.

DeleteNeeded to read this JC this morning as I started the day in anxious worry about my job situation. I got fired last August and am working a job that is only paying half of my bills right now. I sm trying sooo hard to live in faith and trust in Him and not worry, doubt, or fear what will happen or what shall be my next moves. Please pray for me and my family. DeleteThank you for your blog. I have the book Jesus Calling and one morning I went to sit on my porch with my coffee and to read Jesus Calling for that day, as I do every morning. I had forgotten my book in the house. I looked up Jesus calling for that day on my phone and found this group. This group is a blessing I had no clue I would find. I have been reading the blog because of the comments and prayers ever since. Thank God first of all, and thank each of you that pray and comment on here. This mornings devotional I have read at least once a year for the last 6 years and today is the day it all made sense to me. I have been shown something I have needed to see for a long time now, I don't have to understand why I got hurt, I need to just trust God to heal me from the pain. For many years I have wondered why, I guess that isn't near as important as to who I can go to for healing and to be restored.

Trust in Him all things will come together. His promises are dependable and true. Amen, We don't have to questions our circumstances because it is far more important that we can go to Him for our restoration, renewal and healing.

DeleteI tried to ask for prayer yesterday but I guess it was getting too long to write myou situation and my wifi kept going off so it kept getting erased. Here is the jest of it. I have been to the er 4 different times in a window of 2 weeks. My kneecap has gotten jammed onto ,your femur. I am in a lot of pain and of course, they won't give me anything for pain, and yet I am still waiting for a doctor. Now, I know I will need the right doctor, so that is my prayer. That the Lord will get me to someone who will care about me and my pain and who can help me. Thank you for praying!

ReplyDeleteI’m here today seeking guidance and scripture on peace. Something unsettling has happened to me recently and I’m finding myself in a constant state of anxiety. I know that Jesus has a perfect plan for me. I pray I can trust Him fully and stop trying to take control myself.
Most importantly, I ask you all to pray for my fiancé, Eric. He doesn’t know Christ and doesn’t seem real willing to talk about it. We have an 8 month old son together that I want to raise with Christian values, preferably as a family unit all together, but at the very least I want my son to have two Christian parents.

Amber- I encourage you to try not to lean on your own understanding, but push towards trusting in the Lord. He will not disappoint you. You are on the right path of seeking Him. Stay there. Like your soon to be husband, my mother has not come to Jesus, but I am NOT giving up on my prayers for her. I am doing my part and I TRUST God to do His because it is NOT His will that any should perish! Let's keep trusting and praying without ceasing and giving thanks to HIM!

Amber. Your situation is one that I can relate to because I was Eric 30+ years ago. A couple of things for you specifically. If Eric is a moral, kind, good provider and person, then count your blessings. Secondly, do not complain or threaten him with you need to be a Christian, the male ego is such that you will put up a wall. My wife simply went to church each Sunday (with our son) and asked if I would like to come with her (calmly and with no condescension) to which I always declined. However, I've always been a "seeker" and had dabbled in religion as a teen. Being a father, if he has the qualities discussed at the start, then he should be openly questioning why he loves your son... because it is that relationship that could yield an understanding as to how a Father-God loves him as a "son". As dad with a toddler, this father-son and unconditional love deepens dramatically. It has an impact!
DeleteIf you have a mutual friend that is male and a Christian ask that guy (preferably same age and a very mature Christian who will counsel not threaten) to mentor Eric in confidence. However, Eric has to also be "ready". In my case, I finally decided that I WANTED for my son to make a decision about God (while I still doubted) around the 1 year point... as I didn't want to be a stumbling block to His faith. In other words, I was okay with his mom/my wife nurturing him as a Christian and I would attend church "for appearances sake".
At that time, she attended a church with a dynamic non-preachy, intellectual (I needed that), "cool" guy pastor (I recommend you attend a church with a pastor that fits the bill). God worked on me there. Further, the friend suggested for me to re-read Mere Christianity, by C.S.Lewis, which I had read years earlier and moved me to be an "accepting of Christians" agnostic from, for all practical reasons, an atheist-agnostic! Lastly be patient and PRAY. My wife prayed every day that I would become a Christian... as did her friends. You can be the example to Eric in your home of Christ as He was with sinners and Unbelievers. Treat Eric with forbearance and love, and if He is the man that you came to love, then in a year or two, your son, mentoring, life circumstances, and prayer can yield a man of God. I and others here will pray to that end. Amen
Dear Amber, I have seen the scenario you have described many times throughout my ministry. The best approach is what MadFox outlined above. I had a secretary who had a husband like your finance and she did exactly as MadFox outlined and over time (a handful of years) the man chose to know Christ and he went on to be a faithful servant in the church. When I use the term over time, let me qualify that by saying even though you don't see any evidence of conversion taking place, the Spirit is working. Maintain your faithful practice of the faith for that in and of itself, speaks volumes that will have its impact as the Spirit works. Continue in prayer as you are for through prayer, your heart will be lead to choose wisely your words and actions that will make the impact God seeks. So, when you pray for him, also pray for yourself for you are the living presence of our Lord. God be with you.

DeleteAmber, I pray that in this year your fiance has opened his heart to the Lord and the spirit within him urged him to say "Yes". I'm going through the same thing with my husband but at least he tries to be a good Catholic and watches the mass on Sunday and tries to follow the rules. I am a born again Christian and I attend a Catholic Church and I'm in charge of their English Bible group. God put me there. I believe those who do not know Jesus can see Him in us, so keep living your life to reflect His light and truth. Live to please Him above all and your fiance will see that and in God's timing, he will seek Him for himself.

ReplyDeleteThis devotion like all others regarding trust, is much needed at a time like this. We are in this world where trust must be earned. Family, friends, love ones, government, pastors etc.. must all earn our trust. However, this is not and should not be the case with our God. King Solomon knew that trusting God is exactly where we must start. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding..." (Proverbs 3:5). Our surrendering to God begins with our lips and our thoughts. Besides commitment to depend on God, we need to cry out to Him to show that dependence. “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:6) When we pray, we admit that God's ways are far higher than ours. We show to Him that we’re leaving our troubles, concerns, problems, burdens and dreams in His capable hands. The Word promises that when we cry out to our Father in prayer, He hears us and answers. If believers are going to truly trust in God and flee from evil, we have to know exactly where we stand and that is to seek an objective measure that tells us the truth. And that truth comes from the One and Only source, GOD and HIS WORD!
Heavenly Father, great is Your faithfulness. This morning, You have given us new mercy, not stale or leftover mercy, but BRAND NEW MERCY! For this and many others, we say thank You! Thank You for power to trust in You in the midst of chaos and life’s uncertainty, power to trust You because You are the GREAT I AM! Power to trust You because Nothing is Impossible for You! Power to trust You because if You can provide for the birds et al., You will take care of us who are much more valuable, we are heirs to Christ Jesus and as heirs, we need not fear. ReplyDelete(Matthew 10:16-20) And Jesus continues with His instruction to us as He is preparing us to go forth in His name to live and proclaim the gospel message. What He is saying now makes us all very uncomfortable. Quite frankly, He is being very honest with us about what we will experience in being His followers in this day and age. We are going to face persecution. But when those moments come and they will, we are to take the posture of a lamb in the presence of the wolves. We are to make wise choices as He has taught us and we must maintain the integrity of the faith. These are essentials for the witness. All of this initially makes our minds to start racing, wondering what we are to expect. Fully aware of what is going on in our heads, He immediately says when those moments come, do not worry (how often has He said that to us) for we will have the Spirit leading us in what to say or do. These will be moments in which the Father wants to make a witness unto Himself for the salvation of the world. Trust the Spirit's lead and be faithful to it. (A few hard gulps are heard among us.)
We all are living in times none of us have ever lived in before, therefore no one really knows where this is going though many would like to tell you they do. We are His witnesses in these times and that is a task that we must take seriously. Be wise, do the smart things for everyone's health and safety. Stay loving, especially in the presence of people who have no faith and thus do not know how to cope with the way things are. Those who are unable to cope will tend to act out (like wolves). Remain sheep which yes, makes us very vulnerable but it is the way He was among us and we know of the victory that He won in doing so. As today's JC admonishes us, we don't need to understand and we cannot know where this is going but He promised the leading of the Holy Spirit and that is certain. Therefore, moment by moment and no more, pray, "Lord, come to my assistance; make haste to help me." (Psalm 38:22, 40:13, 70:1, 71:12) In so doing, we will have all that we need. Then sit back and watch God work in the moment even in the face of whatever. As always, do not wonder and worry.
Lord, come to our assistance; make haste to help us. Keep our spirits like sheep, especially in the presence of wolves. Make us wise, make us loving. Lead on Holy Spirit, your advice is the only guidance in which we can truly have confidence. Lead on, O Lord, take us where you want to show Your saving grace. I pray this for my brothers and sisters in this blog. I pray this for my heart and soul. In the name of Jesus Christ and for His glory, this prayer is offered. Amen
Beautiful Bob. Who would have thought this Pandemic would be lasting so long and now with the new strains, there is a reason to fear. But I trust in the Lord and I will not be afraid. I will remain blessed with His wisdom, discretion, patience, love and hope. We only need to trust in Him. "Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me."

DeleteMarch 18,2020. As I was leaving the house to run a necessary errand the phone rang (Optometrist). My new lens arrived.
ReplyDeleteAlmost 20 years ago my optometrist said I had the beginning stages of cataracts. I was very upset and asked if I had to have cataract surgery - response "Not as long as we can correct them with lens. You dodged the bullet! Most people your age have already had cataract surgery." Fast forward 20 years. 2 weeks ago, the left lens in new reading glasses wasn't strong enough. He fine tuned it saying "If this doesn't work you will require cataract surgery - If it works this will buy you another year." After learning about coronavirus I decided NO SURGERY!!!!!
Thank You Lord Jesus for blessing me with another year to praise Your name.
Praying our Father is taking very good care of your eyes and you will not need surgery. Thank You, Jesus!!

DeleteI am back. On February 24th I asked my JC warriors to uplift all dealing with carona virus and for their families in prayer. No one responded and the human in me was deeply hurt so I decided to be still. Please forgive me. I have been reading all your posts (I love you Norah, highly favored one). Please know I have been praying ever so hard for all of you known and unknown. I have been struggling with this cough that won't go away mostly allergies (I feel better today). I am super exhausted caring for my daughters sons (my 3 youngest grandsons) no school in Texas for my 15 year old. My lord and savior gives me the strength. My prayer that our lord of lords..king of kings Jesus Christ will protect each and every one, keep you healthy, have mercy on the whole world..we are all in this together. I love you all very much ..this holy ground that has answered so many of my prayers with your powerful prayers and I thank you.

All here read through all the prayers and comments or at least most of them... however, many do come just once a day in the AM since this is the typical use of any "morning" devo. I usually am here twice a day... early a.m. (sometimes too early! 😂 and usually just prior to going to bed or actually in bed reading scripture and sometimes reading this blog. Most folks don't comment later in the day. In fact, you will see some posts, reposted the next day when someone is asking for a response or to be sure specific prayers are in front of folks. So, your prayer was "heard." Peace and Godspeed.

As we seek to reflect the love of God to all as Jesus did, possibly one of the most difficult aspects of the way Jesus was is found as John shares the experience in the upper room on His last night. Realizing this was His last time on earth with His devoted friends, He begins by laying aside His outer garment and wrapping a towel around His waist. Taking a basin of water, He proceeds to perform a task that is only done by the lowest of individuals in that society, servants/slaves. Apparently, the homeowner was a person of modest means who did not have the luxury of servants and thus that act of hospitality was unable to be provided. But Jesus, with the knowledge of all things being given into His hands, that He was from God and was going to God was able to set aside social parameters and perform the loving act of hospitality that the home owner was not able to provide. We see in this story that Peter, very fixed in his understanding of what should and should not be, objected to what Jesus was doing. Truth be told, Peter would never in a million years stoop to such a level. For this attitude, Peter was set straight by Jesus.
ReplyDeleteThe blessed point of this story is that when we know who we are in the eyes of God, that we are each a child of God, sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked as Christ's own forever in our baptism, we are able to show the love of God no matter what the circumstances. But if social norms determine how we see our self, there will be limitations on what we are willing to do and who we are willing to love. This was a major struggle for us as we passed through the years of adolescence, conforming to the popular norms of our peers, all a part of the maturation process. Yet, for those stuck in conforming to society, this process continues on into adulthood as seen in Peter. This was not the case for Jesus for one simple reason, His identity was found in His relationship with His Father thus He was free to love any and all without any inhibitions or limitations. This is the bar He set as an example for us and we are able to clear it to the degree we are willing to define ourselves and everyone for that matter according to the Father's love. When I read through the psalms and listen to the rest of scripture, I am impacted by the use of the word 'all' For example, 'Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the people praise You (Psalm 67:3,5). How inclusive is 'all'? In Jesus actions in John 13, it appears to me that there was no level beneath Him that He would not go to do an act of love. He could do this because He was so closely connect to the One who is above all...and we have been given that same privilege. Jesus concludes the foot washing with these words, "I have set you an example , that you also should do as I have done to you." (John 13:15)
Let us go forth, wherever the Father leads us, free to love any and all without conditions. God be with you. With love, Bob

I just finished a weekly Bible study that used to be a 30 min. Lunch then a 30 min. Lecto Divino type discussion. Miss that but zoom works... I brought up Bob's lesson as we read Philippians 2:5-11. In it it says "every knee shall bow in heaven, on earth, and the underworld." The point by Bob was Jesus bent His knee to wash the feet of the disciples...here as an example that Peter could not understand, which led my lunch groul to say Jesus will not demand (and He could make it happen) all to bend their knee but rather the recognition of His love will cause ALL to freely want to bend their knee! Regardless who they are with as Bob said in his thoughts above. Agree. When we think of His love then serving others in agape becomes like Christ. AMEN.

Dear Jan, I've had arthroscopic surgery to fix a torn meniscus. May God guide the Doctor's hands perfectly and give you the patience you will need for your recovery. No matter how hard it is and how long it takes, trust that God will bring you back to perfect health and movement. ICE is the most important thing and follow their instructions carefully. It took a long time for my leg to feel like my leg again but I can still run now so it worked. Just like Brie said: Great is Thy Faithfulness and we are praying for you together. Much love.
DeleteNo, it's not silly, being "put to sleep" always has risks. When you wake up, you probably won't feel pain... now an hour later, possibly, or during physical therapy, but this too shall pass! Lord, give Jan a pain free surgery and as little pain as possible post-surgery. Amen.

March 24th, and have posted little but read each day comments and mini-devos within the topic of the day. Norah Thanks for your words and prayers yesterday. Bob, as always stirs thought of the servant leadership of Christ and I view my role not only to be a good patient but to also serve the team who work with Oncology patients in a similar role, from my RNs each day, to the team of docs, to the janitorial crew... by being the light to them, especially with covid, where I can do little else but SERVE THEM as I'm physically able.
ReplyDeleteI'm prepared for this journey, and still hope my wife will be able to be in a caregiver role for it... but it appears that path is narrowing. We have come to accept it, but are still praying for a miracle change in policy. This Wed. is admit day and, Friday the 26th is transplant day when 5 Million little stem cell friends, seek to find a home in my bone marrow and start making precious blood cells, asap! God has His right hand extended, and I'm gladly holding it with peace from His love for me and you. He died and He lived. Our hope is in this life chapter concludes at just the right time...May He be glorified in all that I do not only forever but in particular, the next 3 weeks. As one of His messengers on the floor of stem cell transplant patients and caregivers, show love in all I do. AMEN.

DeleteJC Warriors, I am asking for prayers for my ex-brother-in-law. I should have done this a couple of weeks ago. He is one of the extremely bad Covid cases. He has been in an induced coma, and on a ventilator for 2 weeks. He has been hooked up to an ECMO machine as well which is basically dialysis for the blood. It removes it, adds oxygen to it, and cycles it back in. We received an update yesterday that they don't think his lungs can recover. His last hope is likely a lung transplant. Please pray for a miracle and for his wife and my niece and nephew. It's been a rough month for them. Thank you Warriors and God bless you all.

DeleteRequesting my prayers please. The wonderful attention day approaches for us on April 8th. With it comes when he makes feelings. Making our grandchildren completely ours, but at the same time there's morning for relationship with our daughter and their mother. Our granddaughter is starting to act out again physically and refusing to do things she needs to do. This adds to the everyday hecticness and stress that we have. The majority of it my husband isn't aware of because I'm the one who handles it. Because of his strokes and trying to control his diabetes his ability to emotionally and cognitively deal with all of it it's very hard on him. He gets frustrated very easily which only multiplies the situation. Our grandson just started ABA services which is therapy for autistic kids. My husband doesn't like having him gone all day. I also don't like the idea of it, but I need the break/to do stuff in the house and to have an emotional and physical break. I honestly walk through my days asking Jesus to help me through a Spirit constantly. I so appreciate your prayers and uplifting. I continue to pray with you on different concerns. With Madfox as the day gets closer to his stem cell replacement. I love all the learning I receive here and all of you. From The silent One to pray, to the amen's, to the stories of hope God has resolved things in your lives. Even though I'm silent most of the time you walk through my days with me. Bob please see how much God is using you through this blog. This is your preaching platform. I could name so many but I know I would leave out. We are the church, we are the body of Christ! ReplyDeleteTerri, the love you demonstrate each day taking on Grandkids as children, the pain you push aside for your daughter, the shield you provide for your husband, is a faith that runs strong, VERY strong indeed. May the government officials see the wisdom you have and the love you provide clearly and the adoption day, thus go smoothly. May God be present at the hearing in a way that you can have no doubt as to His love for your entire family. May your daughter find God, may that revelation change the paradigm of her life, and when she finally seeks Him, may He restore her. All this in Jesus name. Amen.

Please forgive me I was using talk to text and even though I was reading it as it typed it changed the words. It should have read. Requesting many prayers please the wonderful adoption day is soon approaching on April 8th. With this comes many makes feelings joy and relief because they're completely ours and morning over the loss of relationship with our daughter and their mom.

DeleteMorning glory and blessings to our ALDONAI, Thank You for yet another blessed day. Life has a way of distracting us and keeping us away from the moments that You give us. That is, trusting You in all circumstances no matter what we encounter. We try to do things on our own and fail each time we refuse to trust and acknowledge You. When this happens, we end up in a kind of survival mode where we just get through the day and wish the time away. Living one day at a time isn't always easy, but You have given us the recipe for our lives which is trusting in You for ALL our tomorrows. That recipe includes: Worry about nothing (Matt 6:34), Rejoice and Pray about EVERYTHING (1 Tess. 5:16-17), think about, things that are true, things that are honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise, that are found only in the Word. (Isaiah 26:3), and The Word doesn’t say, “For all things give thanks.” But is says, “In ALL things give THANKS.” (1 Thess. 5:18). Why give thanks in all things? Because we know that You will take care of us, meet our every need and help us through the rough patches. For this and so much, we say THANK YOU.

Lord, I give all of me to You. Use me to do Your will. Teach me to trust in you all day, in all ways. I try to turn things over for You to deal with but sometimes I take them back and get nowhere. Help me to trust You more than I fear the unknown. Today I place in Your hands as I trust that will bring about the best outcome.

DeleteDear Jan - so glad that you did post this a day early. You have been in my prayers. And I TOTALLY GET the nervousness and feeling silly for it, just as I am chastising myself for feeling scared to have a mammogram. But, today is the day of your surgery and I'm praying along with all of our JC Family that you will be in and out and on the road to recovery in no time.
ReplyDeleteThanks to all who prayed for me last night and this morning for my nerves to settle down. My DH prayed for me last night and again this morning and I'm now wondering why I made the appointment so late in the day.
THEN, I read from the rest of you and you all have my prayers. MadFox - I am absolutely believing the additional time will bring an open window for your wife to be with you. The Hospital has to know the importance of that but as everyone has reminded you and what you, yourself have proclaimed is that you are never alone.
Continued prayers for each of you as I hop on and off here throughout the day. I won't relist the requests - but just know that I am reading and praying right along with you.
Expecting Miracles and Victory Reports and that mine is one of them!

ReplyDeleteMammogram went fine - won't know anything for a week. I think I get it, God - I'm going to learn how to wait on the Lord. :) All involved were very kind and caring. And my DH drove me (crazy, rainy, gray day)...so I'll just keep praying and trying to learn a little patience! As you all know - that's not exactly my strong-suit! LOL!!
