Jesus Calling: May 10

Do not resist or run from the difficulties in your life. These problems are not random mistakes; they are hand-tailored blessings designed for your benefit and growth. Embrace all the circumstances that I allow in your life, trusting Me to bring good out of them. View problems as opportunities to rely more fully on Me.
When you start to feel stressed, let those feelings alert you to your need for Me. Thus, your needs become doorways to deep dependence on Me and increasing intimacy between us. Although self-sufficiency is acclaimed in the world, reliance on Me produces abundant living in My kingdom. Thank Me for the difficulties in your life, since they provide protection from the idolatry of self-reliance.
John 15:5
English Standard Version

I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
2 Corinthians 1:8-9
English Standard Version

For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.

Verse Thoughts
Paul was sure that he was going to die for the sake of the Gospel.

Ephesians 5:20
English Standard Version

giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

My Prayer (2018) - Thank you Lord for the difficulties in my life. Thank you for protecting me from the idolatry of self-reliance by giving me difficulties. Thank you for pruning me and making me clean before you. Thank you that you do not grade my life or ask me to jump through hops in order to earn salvation, but I am accepted because of the finished work of Jesus on the cross to save me. Now that I am saved, help me with your Spirit to live the best life possible. I want people to speak well of you because of what they see in me.

  5. Since we have been made right with God by our faith, we have[a] peace with God. This happened through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 who through our faith[b] has brought us into that blessing of God’s grace that we now enjoy. And we are happy because of the hope we have of sharing God’s glory. 3 We also have joy with our troubles, because we know that these troubles produce patience. 4 And patience produces character, and character produces hope. 5 And this hope will never disappoint us, because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts. He gave us his love through the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to us.

  7. I spent the night tossing and turning worrying about my younger son who is struggling a lot at school with peers, teachers, self-regulation, etc. Then I rise to read this morning's meditation and it's as though it is speaking right to me. Lord, please help me to turn to You and rely on You for all things. Please help build my faith in You, and both forgive any unbelief or self-reliance in my heart. Please provide me with the peace and knowledge that all things work together for good to those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. Amen.

  20. FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

For those of you who watch traditional services today online, you are likely to hear read John 14:1-14. Since that passage has already been covered here two days ago, I continue on with the 14th chapter of John.

(John 14:15-21) Jesus continues, "Perfect love for me will be reflected in observing all that I have commanded you. Obedience isn't a natural tendency for you because of sinful pride which wants to indulge your desires especially when they run contrary to what is good and right. But the commandments are given in love and in them you will find eternal life, not in terms of a reward but in finding life in all its perfection." Jesus next words summarized up all the events of Good Friday, Easter, Ascension Day and Pentecost that were yet to come. "In choosing to believe, all things will be seen for which they stand. Those who choose not to believe will be forever wandering in the dark about life and God. Obedience to the commands the Father has given you is the ultimate act of worship, allowing you to enter the oneness of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Again, it is not a reward, it is an act of love which is eternal life."

(My reflection). Obedience, a word that bothers us. We don't like to obey orders from superiors, especially when it runs contrary to what we want to do. Then there are times we should not obey those who intend on harming us and others. But obedience to God through His commandments is a whole different matter. Yes, our pride still enters in and causes us to want to resist obedience but it is all so foolish. In my years of study in the sciences, I learned many of the laws of science that hold this whole world together. They cannot be broken without some resulting harm. For example, there is the law of gravity which is necessary for everyone's well-being. If I should choose to disobey it and jump off my roof, only bad things are going to result. God created the law of gravity to hold His creation together. It is a good law and it is wise to obey it. The commands of God are no different. They are given for healthy relationships with God and with others. When they are broken, relationships are damaged. Why would we choose to do so? It is as foolish as jumping off the roof, maybe more so. Obedience to the commandments is an act of love. Though we see them as an 'ought to', they really should be a 'want to' for in doing so, we worship God by honoring His Lordship over all. Obedience, the ultimate act of worship, the ultimate act of love.

Be blessed, my dear sisters and brothers in Christ, this day. May all women be blessed this day for the maternal love God has placed within them to show in their relationships with others. With love, Bob

  21. THANKSGIVING TO GOD AND DEDICATED TO ALL MOTHERS!

Loving Father, It is great day, fresh anointing is flowing our way. As Your children celebrate this Mother’s day, I want to start with thanking You for the Blessed mother amongst all mothers, I thank You for Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, a mother so gracious and a woman of example in motherhood for all. I praise You and we thank You for the gift of our mothers, through whom You give us life and through whom we experience love. Through Your magnificent power and love, You gave each of us mothers. Today I honor my mother and thank You for keeping her well and alive. Thank You for loving her, sustaining her and uniting us after years of being apart. It is all by Your love, mercy and grace. You are the God who restores and put back those broken pieces. My mom is human and an imperfect vessel who fails from time to time, but she sacrificed a whole lot. For You Lord, are the only One who can show us what perfect parental love is. Thank You for her and thank You for giving me a love that is caring and compassionate, patient, forgiving and honoring her as You instruct me to do. Thank You for another year to celebrate her. I pray for a long and healthy life for her and a renewed spirit within her to accept Your free gift of Salvation through Jesus our Savior. Amen.

Father in Heaven, I pray and lift up all mothers to You today, believers and non believers alike in Your name. For motherhood is a beautiful journey, caring and nurturing a life from You and seeing it grow into a part of humanity. I pray that mothers everywhere today, take a moment to think of this beautiful and gracious gift from You in their livelihood.Thank You for all the mothers. Giving thanks to them for all the pain, suffering and commitment in raising their children. Thank You for the sacrifice of their time, pleasures and interest to give their children a life of contentment. I pray especially for ALL JC family MOTHERS. God bless you all today and always: I pray that they are highly favored by You oh Lord and, in Your heart of Grace, grant them a wonderful place in existence. May this prayer warm their hearts today. May they know that they are loved and precious in Your sight and in the sight of their family. Remind them that they are worthy in their call. Proverbs 31:25: "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Philippians 1:3 I thank my God every time I remember you.Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Thank You Lord for mothers.
I pray for those mothers who are separated from their children and children from their mothers. I pray for their safety and well being whether near or apart. As their hearts are connected to each other in mind, body and blood. Lord, I pray In Your perfect timing and in Your will, forgiveness and reconciliation be part of their life and in joy unite them as a family again. Isaiah 49:15: "Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne?”

I pray for Your comfort and peace for all those who have lost their mothers, those who where abandoned and lost. Reminder them that You are their all in all. Strengthen them and wrap them in Your Righteousness through Jesus Christ the Righteousness One. Isaiah 66:13: "As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you.”

I thank You Father, for every mother who untiringly love and care for their children with every passing day, and on this important “Mother’s Day”, I lift up all mothers throughout the world and thank You for the very special role they play in the lives of their children. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY BEAUTIFUL, BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED JC FAMILY MOTHERS! May you feel more of God’s love and that of your family. Happy Mother’s day! God Bless .

  24. Thank you friends! Thank you Lord for allowing me to be a mother. This mothers day lands me in my parents home which we plan to buy in Florida. My Mom died 2 years ago my dad 1 1/2 years ago joining my mom in heaven I pray. They died within 6 months of each other. We are still in court over the estate. The home needs some repair, leaking unresolved from roof. So no Mom, No Dad, No children to celebrate mothers day with, while living in my parents home...their life still all around me.
Easter was the same, My moms anniversary of her death, my sons Birthday. All just remembered with my dear husband. Very strange indeed, How God knew this must be what I needed, to be engulfed and surrounded by the memories of my parent, separated from my children, just my husband and I. I pray I will find the healing and answers my soul searches for. I thank God for His ability to know exactly what we need for our filling of the empty spaces. It is never what we think, at least not usually for me. He always has The best plan to achieve His pure goodness for our lives. Lord thank you for knowing me on this mothers day what my heart and soul longs for, and that is you Jesus. The lover of my soul had cleared it all away to give me this great understanding. That "He" is it and nothing else will fit.
God bless all of you during this time of remembrance of a dear mom and gratefulness for being called mom and all the moms who continue to mother this grown woman with the love of Jesus. Lord please heal my grown children whom I have poured my life into who still struggle and who do not know you. You Lord are the supreme gift to all mothers and children today. All the glory to God and his unparalleled love for all. Praying for peace and wellbeing for all who read.

God does not bring you to a situation without equipping you. Praying now for you dear sister that His Spirit will give you all the right words to say. Fear not, God is already preparing Valerie and Ryan's future and drawing them to Him. He loves them and you dearly. Be not afraid. He is greater thatn he that is in this fallen world. He will prevail and fight this battle. Thank You Jesus. Joining all prayers in Your Name.

  35. I will continue my prayers for you, Jan, as well as for this attorney and your hub. So very sorry you are having to go through this. Father, may you show this attorney the quickest and best solution and may you speak to the hearts of Loretta's children, Lord. Soften these hearts and encourage them, as you do so well, to retreat. In Jesus' mighty name, AMEN.

      Pray With Your Fingers

Most of us are familiar with the famous painting called “Praying Hands.” Hands placed together in that way seem to imply prayer. You can use your hands for an outline of a time of prayer in the following fashion:

      1. Start with your thumb. Let your thumb remind you to pray for people who are close to you: relatives, good friends, etc.

      2. The first finger reminds us to pray for people who point the way: leaders, teachers, ministers, etc.

      3. The middle finger, the tallest one, is to remind us of prominent people: national leaders, celebrities, newsmakers, etc.

      4. The third finger is often considered the weakest finger, and it represents people who are weak: the poor, those who are ill, etc.

      5. The little finger, the smallest, represents you.

Finish by praying for yourself. Use this outline for a season of prayer today.

    3. Never heard that before. Thanks for a new way of praying, dear Sassy Mom. By my fingers. I always start with my family and dear ones and then I pray for those who really need healing, guidance, joy, peace, encouragement and comfort especially our JC Family. I ask God to govern and provide for His people and enlighten those in authority, and take care of the sick, homeless and poor. Also those who have lost loved ones, and those good people in Ukraine. I also pray for myself because I have seen His faithfulness and I trust in Him. Thank you sweet sister. I love your outline for a season of prayer.

  38. Praying for each of you and especially keeping you in the forefront of my mind, Jan Gridley. Father, open the eyes of the attorney that he may see the hearts of Jan and her hubby. Let Loretta's children see Jan's heart and the kindness and love she had for their mother. I rebuke the adversary in the name of Jesus Christ and thank you, Father for providing Your spiritual strength to Jan and her husband.
I look forward to your Victory Report Dear Jan Gridley and am thankful for all of the believers reminders, on this site of their love for our Heavenly Father and for YOU!
Please pray with me for our youngest son and his family. All 3 of their littles are fighting a stomach bug. My DH is showing a few signs and I'm feeling very sleepy. Giving all of us and everyone they encountered to you, Father and thanking you for healing, restoration and protection. Bless my Daughter in Love's heart, Lord - she feels so bad that they "exposed us." I told her that was NOT an issue! She couldn't have possibly known and we were all outside, anyway. Their little cousin hasn't shown any signs of sickness at all and she was with them all day.
So, I give it all to you, Father in the powerful name of Christ Jesus our Lord.

  40. Robert Boyd Munger was a Presbyterian minister who preached a memorable sermon in 1954 that has become a Christian classic. “My Heart—Christ’s Home” portrayed a new Christian leading Jesus Christ on a tour of his home (his heart) with Christ helping to remove clutter and distractions as they went. In the end, the Christian signed over the title of his home (his heart) to Christ for safekeeping. The theme was obvious to Munger’s listeners: We must love God with our whole heart.

  41. A blessed but difficult reading today. Not for myself but for part of our family: health & disability issues, earning / financial difficulties, a single mom doing her Godly best to raise her two boys 16 & 18 both of whom also have mental & emotional issues and trying hard to study at school.
Prayer requested please for W, E&A going through a REALLY hard time with literally bailiffs knocking at the door. Lord Jesus please bring about Your solution speedily to this seemingly impossible situation, thank You, Amen

  42. Praying for you as you make your medical decision, Rich C. I've had a couple myself over the last few months and after taking it to God in prayer, have decided to wait a while (eyes and ears - both can wait). Whatever yours is, I trust that you will make the best decision, with God by your side and all of the prayers building you up. You've got it, Brother.
Peter, praying for your family needs. God does have a solution and I'm so thankful that you know that and will be able to remind your family. Over 28 years ago, we had a difficult time in our family of 7. God not only provided the Victory (along with a lot of hard work and very humbling steps that my hubby and I had to take), but to this day, we are benefiting. That is my prayer for your single mom and her boys (tough ages: 16 & 18) - Thank you, Father, for opening doors, eyes and hearts to Your solution(s), in the name of Jesus Christ. Continued prayers, Peter.

  43. P.S. Asking for continued prayers for my dear hubby - who DID get a bit of the bug and has quite a time today. Believing he's through the worst of it - never fun. He asked, "Did you have any idea you were signing up for this 48 years ago?" I said, "Yes, I believe it falls in the 'in sickness and in health' category - HA HA! You'd do it for me!" And he would, in a heartbeat. So thankful he's here for me to be able to help! God Bless, Family.

  45. Sometimes you just have to thank the Lord for also having a sense of humor. Today's message crafted from scripture says, "... These problems are not random mistakes; they are hand-tailored blessings designed for your benefit and growth."

JC Warriors, I've started traveling some and working part-time. So after 3 years of successfully avoiding covid, I attended a business conference and tested positive for covid this morning. Started on Paxlovid tonight and it appears to be working extraordinarily fast. Unfortunately have also given to my wife who also hadn't caught it in 3 years!

Thankfully, I believe it to be the milder form of the past few months vs. the initial covid which was so serious. Problems? Borrowing from an old movie... We don't got no stinkin' problems - in the Lord.

  54. The Lord blessed me with time with my granddaughter, Rooney, who will be 3 at the end of this month, yesterday. My son, Nick, and DIL, Michelle, asked if I'd drive out to hang with Roo while they went to the Braves game for a mid-week-date-night (they are expecting a boy who will arrive in September!). I jumped at the opportunity as I just relish time with my grands. When Nick and I picked Rooney up from daycare, she didn't know I was going to be there and squealed with delight yelling, "Noni, Noni, Noni!" as she ran and leapt into my arms. There is no better gift, I swear, than that. She told her mom & dad, "okay, you guys go now!" Lol. We played soccer in the backyard while listening to a cardinal. I showed her what they looked like and we went on a bird walk to listen and hopefully see some birds. We made cookies, she ate a great dinner, did some "find the hidden items" in the Highlight magazine before bath time, 2 books, and prayers (which she wanted to recite twice!) and then we talked about God before lying her down to sleep. She was out like a light. Boy, what a gift I received yesterday. Precious time with my girl, Roo. God ROCKS.

    1. How sweet is that (also with the bird songs Peter and Jan are listening to)! I am "Nonnie," to my Grands, NJS. My mom was Nonnie and my Grandmother was Nonnie T to all of our kids, so the name stuck and I find that fun.
Love the name Roo (Rooney) - I've never heard it before but how cute!

    2. That sounds like the perfect day and Roo is such a treasure and she loves the Lord! I can just see you both on your bird walk, making cookies, and reading and praying together! The whole day was a sweet gift! I was with my grand Gabriel yesterday. He was telling me he loved being in Church for Evelyn’s Baptism and it made him very happy. We talked about it for a while. He is so honest and sincere. He is my little brother in Christ. So dear NJS and Norah. We three are Noni, Nonnie, and Nani! How blessed we are! God is so good!!! .
