Jesus Calling: February 18

    I AM with you. These four words are like a safety net, protecting you from falling into despair. Because you are human, you will always have ups and downs in your life experience. But the promise of My Presence limits how far down you can go. Sometimes you may feel as if you are in a free fall, when people or things you had counted on let you down. Yet as soon as you remember that I am with you, your perspective changes radically. Instead of bemoaning your circumstances, you can look to Me for help. You recall that not only am I with you, I am holding you by your right hand. I guide you with My counsel, and afterward I will take you into Glory. This is exactly the perspective you need: the reassurance of My Presence, and the glorious hope of heaven.
Zephaniah 3:17
English Standard Version
The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.

Psalm 73:23-26
English Standard Version
Nevertheless, I am continually with you;
you hold my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will receive me to glory.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Thoughts
The Lord is with me. He is beside me. He is in my midst. He thinks the best of me, rejoicing over me with gladness. He calms me in the mist of the turmoil of my day, month, year. He will sing over me. He holds my hand. He guides me. And He has a future for me. I am His favorite. He is the strength in my life and with me forever.

My Prayer
Lord, it is always a challenge to realize you are close, beside me, near me. But, show me this is true and continue to confirm yourself in me, each day. Truth and theology and promises are easy to read, but knowing you are near is tough for me. Be my comfort. Thank you for giving us the Word and the differences of the writers and speaking through those words in unique ways. I praise You. Thank you for being with me.

Thank you for comforting my thoughts and when they go off track just saying your son Jesus name returns me to trust in you. Thank you for those who pray for me, many I will never know but you have placed me amd my daughter in their prayers. Thank you for loving and believing in me even when I didn't. Your footprints continue in my life and I am forever thankful. I know you are with me as I feel your presence and hear your whispers. Thank you for choosing me even before I was formed in my mother's womb. I love you Father and give you all of the honor, praise and glory in your son Jesus name. God is love and love is God.

  3. (Under the influence of my quiet time) Oh how we must desire to firmly claim the truths of the reading today and every day. Oh, how He wishes for us to take hold of these truths that stand for all time. For when these become permanently fixed within our souls so that they automatically rise up within us as often as they need to, then we are free to live the life that Jesus lived in this world. To go forth, totally oriented to the well being and wholeness of others to the glory of God. To have the time and take the time as each encounter requires of us "to bring good news to the poor (those who don't know God), to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners." To not over indulge in that which is of little good and to not under indulge in that for which we are called. To show love to each person...whether we like them or not. I cannot say for sure if Jesus liked each person but I do know for a fact that He loved each person. "As I have loved you, you should love one another." Was there any limitations on one another? I have heard some say yes. As I read the scriptures, I would have to answer no. What do you say? I repeat, when today's reading becomes thoroughly attached to our souls so it is an automatic response in all circumstances, then its purpose for which it is given will be played out, "so the world may know You (God) sent Me (Jesus)." God be with you!

  5. Today's devo and scripture also further show His love for you/us when He says, "hold My right hand." As you may know, 90% of humans are born right hand dominant.

    Most of history, and of course throughout the Old Testament in particular, warfare was with hand-held weapons... swords, knives, clubs, even hand to hand combat. In training for combat, soldiers thus always practiced between right-handeded combatants. In fact, if one was left-hand dominant, you needed to train right-handed as your attacker would be throwing blows to the opposite side and it was of no value in large battle situations. The shield was in your left hand to block right-handed blows.

    Thus God by extending His right hand is showing you, that He means no harm. God in the old testament world shows He has put down His weapon to help you. He extends peace to you. This also why agreements were sealed by shaking right hands... i.e. no weapons and therefore trusting your opponent.

    The Great I am is with you/us and He brings peace by extending His right hand for you/us to hold and be safe. Thank you Father for extending Your hand in love and for being with us always. Amen

    1. Two years later, another thought as well. By 'disarming' us... that is to say that God is holding our right hand with His right hand, as it is the natural "fit". This then forces us to give Him the battle as He needs no hand(s), weapons, etc., rather He can merely speak the victory into existence and our prayers are the expression of our TRUST when we are slow to "reach out" with our hand. Godspeed.

    3. Thank you, mad🦊! My selectively dyslexic brain finally gets the offer of the right hand! God is facing me and offering his hand. I always pictured him as a Father offering his hand for me to walk alongside and I couldn't make sense of His right hand taking mine unless it was my left. Sorry to ramble on about this but the picture is so much clearer now thanks to your insight about battles. Thank you Father for your reach, I accept your offer!

  9. I am Blessed to have Your blessings at the dawn of a new day, alive and well to walk and talk with You.
    Thank You Father for this gift of today.
    I ask You Lord, what can I do today to glorify Your Holy name? May Your Holy Spirit guide me to that which You desire of me this day and grant me the Spirit of discernment to walk in obedience to IT'S promptings, in Jesus name.
    What a blessed assurance, a peace of mind and reason to praise and worship the King who says to us this day: "I Am With You".
    Our God is all powerful and all knowing. The God whom we worship is Omnipresent. Jeremiah 23:24 says: "Can anyone hide in secret places, so that I cannot see him? Do not I fill heaven and earth"?.
    God is everywhere, in all the corners of the earth, right there near each of us in a very special way. The truth of God's Omnipresent is good news to believers because it assures us that no matter what God calls us to do or what He allows to happen in our lives, He will be there with us, never leaving nor forsaking us.
    When God calls us to be free from fear and enter into His safety net, He is calling us to overcome this (fear) natural emotion and have peace. He will not leave the command to 'fear not' hanging in the air, He puts pillars under it and say:
    Fear not, I am with you (by your side).
    Fear not, I am your God(over you).
    Fear not, I will strengthen you (from inside of you).
    Fear not, I will help you (all around you from wherever the enemy comes).
    Fear not, I will uphold you (from underneath you).

    Father, thank You for Your firm promise of: "I Am With You"(Your Presence).
    Thank You for being with us in ALL circumstances. For our impossible situations are Your specialty!
    Thank You for wrapping us in Your Righteousness through Jesus Christ the Righteous ONE,and when it is all said and done,
    Thank You for 'holding us by our right hand, guiding us with Your counsel and afterward, taking us into glory'. For we know that the counsel of the Lord stands forever!

    As we go through this day, may we stay in the 'safety net' of the most High God ("I Am With You").

    Blessings and Peace are yours today.

Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39

    3. Those verses from Romans are such a good summary of the whole of scripture. A peer in ministry said to me, "We need to believe those words as much as we say we do." The reverse of that thought would be the more we repeat them the sooner we will believe them. Thanks, Sassy Mom, for repeating those words in our presence; they never get old because they are eternal. We need to keep hearing them until they become like our next breath, an automatic within us. Get them thru this as quickly as possible with no lingering side effects. May they receive the proper treatments and meds to heal. And please keep Steven strong and well as he takes care of his family. May this bring them closer together as a result. Please also help my brothers and uncle heal from their knee replacement surgeries. Help them endure physical therapy and may they see and feel progress everyday. Please heal my grandson from whatever skin condition is below his eye and on his arm. His parents have no insurance, so are taking a homeopathic approach. Please give them wisdom and protect his eye. Please also heal my husband who is suffering from a bout of diverticulitis. He went to urgent care yesterday and got meds, but he is still feeling bad this morning. We are under lots of stress right now trying to sell our beloved home in prep for retirement. Husband's job has demoted him too, so that did not help. Please pray for us. Thank you all. Heal her uncle and brothers and strengthen their new knees and heal the tissue and ligaments and muscle and meniscus and any other weak areas in their knees so they will be able to do all the things they enjoy again. Give them endurance and determination as they undergo their physical therapy, and take away their pain. Show them their improvement is from You and strengthen their faith. Heal her dear grandson’s skin condition. You know exactly what his problem is. Thank you for guiding his parents to the right medicine to clear up his face and arm. Heal her husband’s diverticulitis completely and help him to stay on the correct diet so it will not flare up again. Remove the stress from their lives and replace it with your unchanging peace. They are your beloved children and they trust in Your faithfulness. Light their wilderness and guide them through the sale of their house and lead them to fulfillment and joy in a new home. And thank you for changing our sister’s mind and heart, and renewing her spirit and remove all doubts. Give her the blessed assurance that she belongs to You and You belong to her. Show her You are in charge so she can rest in You. Thank you for all these things in the powerful Name of the Risen Lord, Christ Jesus.

    Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for always being with me, but never more so than during all the difficult times! You Long for me to allow You in to help me. Throughout the Bible, You promised to never leave nor forsake me and that You will always be with me. Since we’re not in Heaven yet, our journey throughout life will be marked by a succession of problems and difficulties, but You have known all about me even before You put the first speck of dust into this universe. You knew that one day I will see these verses and be blessed by them, so thank You for holding me with Your right hand and for Your presence in my life and that of my family. Thank You for Your grace that is sufficient for us!In Jesus’ name.

    Isaiah 41:10, ‘Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation.”

    Jeremiah 1:5, ““Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

    Isaiah 43:2, ““When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

  23. So glad to hear about Pastor Louie, Sassy Mom! Continued prayers for Miss Pat and her devoted family. Asking for prayers for a couple of cases that I mentioned last night: the young boy, (still no news); keep him safe this night, protected by Your loving Hand. And the lady I'm trying to help with her benefits. Praying for a miracle for her - so many things were done wrong, untimely, inefficiently. My prayer is that this is recognized and corrected. Give her peace, God, as she goes to visit her son who is still heart-broken over the loss of his dad. Bless her; keep her safe and peaceful through all of this turmoil.
    Excited to have my Dear Hub's appt tomorrow at 2:00. Thank you, again for the prayers you have already prayed. Expecting "miwacles" again (in my 3rd son's 7 yr old voice). Praying for sweet, solid sleep so that I wake up refreshed and ready to go at it again, early tomorrow morning. Lord, help me pace myself. Today was so long, but profitable. Please remind me to step back, take a breath and allow You to work.
    Thank you for your words of comfort, Brie. I will read them again in the morning.
    Love and blessed sleep to all of you, Dear JC Family! Our Father is on the Night Watch and our Lord and Savior is seated at His right Hand - going before us, fighting for us, clearing the path and preparing our way.

  27. "I AM with you". Emmanuel; God with us.
    Lord Jesus, it is so wonderfully precious, such a delightful relief to realize you are with me, close beside me, near me and living in me through Your precious Holy Spirit. Wonderful to know I am grafted in to the Vine.
    In You I live and move and have my being ( Acts 27:28)
    Thank you that it is not possible to hide anything from You, nor is it possible to hide from You as Jonah found out.
    Thank You that I am totally transparent and open to Your loving gaze. Thank You Lord that I have nothing to fear, nothing to be apprehensive about.
    Thank You that I am cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb, my sin has been removed from me as far as the East is from the West ( Psalm 203:13).
    Thank you Lord for holding me by my right hand.
    I well remember, as a child, maybe 7 or 8 years old, being led down a very narrow country lane by my mother.
    With her left hand she held my right hand. In her right hand she held her handbag. The lane was so narrow that trees either side met overhead forming a gloomy green tunnel. It was late spring going towards summer, the gloom under the trees plus the dimming light of the setting sun made the lane very dim indeed. Bats were flitting around overhead, but so close to our heads that they almost skimmed our hair. I didn't like that.
    So, although there really was no danger of bats getting tangled in our hair (they are very skillful in the air), my mother waved her handbag from time to time over our heads to keep the bats at bay, and to ease my childhood fears.
    I was so glad my mother was with me!
    My right hand was in her left hand, so my dominant hand was held trustingly in her left hand. It was her right hand that defended us from the bats.
    This is an allegory of our daily 'walk' with our Lord.
    We trustingly hold His left hand with our right, dominant hand. Giving up the ability to defend ourselves.
    That's trust.
    He in turn, has His right hand free to defend us.
    God's Right Hand is also a metaphor for His omnipotence-His ALL powerfulness. His unlimited ability to defend us.
    Psalm 128:15-16 "Shouts of joy and victory
    resound in the tents of the righteous:
    The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!
    The Lord’s right hand is lifted high;
    the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”

We may think we don’t deserve His perfect Love but He loves His children completely with all our flaws and baggage. That’s why He always gives us second chances to make things right! His Will is for us to be happy in Him, content just to be in His presence and to be at peace. Thank You Jesus.

  36. Working through Genesis line by line it's incredible to realize the intimate relationship Adam at first then with Eve, had with God (Jesus active on Earth before His incarnation?) walking together in the cool of the day. (Genesis 3:8a "Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day...") We have a sense that this evening walk was habitual, God walked with man, man walked with God. Man in total relaxed harmony with his Creator. Complete harmony. The great I AM enjoying relationship with the pinnacle of His creation.
    Then as we know, sin through disobedience entered the scene.
    What Adam and Eve felt then, like a shock, was the instant severance, the cutting off of the intimate relationship they had enjoyed with God. Only millennia later when Jesus died on the Cross was it made possible for something like that relationship to be restored.
    That continual promise "I AM with you", is such a great blessing, how so very blessed we are!

    1. It's so crazy. I was studying through Genesis a couple of months ago or so and started writing down some things about Adam and Eve and creation and the disobedience of mankind in the garden. The Lord gave me an amazing enlightening moment and I wasn't able to write it down or tell others about it too much, but it connected the beginning of disobedience to Jesus dying on the cross. God bless Peter 🙏.

  44. Dear Chuck --- A father's love and care for his daughter gives them the security and emotional support they need. This is huge in their life. I am thanking the Lord that you reached out for prayer---such a great dad! I would find it a privilege and a honor to pray for your daughter. My Papa God, I come to You in the Mighty Name of Jesus and I ask for your help with Chuck's daughter's problem with sleep, anxiety and depression. Papa, when Jesus died and rose again, we were given the Powerful KEYS of the Kingdom of Binding and Loosing. Your WORD says in Matthew 18:18 that whater we bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever we loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. When going through life we experience good things and somtimes things that are not good. Those not good experiences have a way of accumulating on our soul in a hurtful way and our enemy can use this to take us down. So, My Papa God in the name of Jesus I LOOSE, from this precious daughter from every layer of her soul, any darkness in any form: crushing fear and anxiety that grips her tight shoving her into depression; sleepless day and nights full of anxiety and turmoil, hurtful words an actions that torment her. Now, Papa I BIND to her Your Love, Your Way, Your Plan, Your Grace, Your Mercy, Your Healing, Your Restoration, Your Breakthroughs, Your Goodness, Your Peace, a Free Heart, a Calmness and to choose to trust in You, each day, each hour, each moment of her life. Now, Papa, I Decree and Declare that You have set this precious daughter FREE!!! HALLELUJAH!!! And, Papa, bless Chuck with You Wisdom, Knowledge, Grace and Joy when engaging with his daughter. Let Your clarity bring him Peace. In Jesus's name, I Pray and Believe. He makes a way when there doesn't seem to be a way, AMEN and AMEN. Great Love and Blessings to you, Chuck and your family. JJ
