Jesus Calling: August 14

I am yours for all eternity. I am the Alpha and the Omega: the One who is and was and is to come. The world you inhabit is a place of constant changes--more than your mind can absorb without going into shock. Even the body you inhabit is changing relentlessly, in spite of modern science's attempts to prolong youth and life indefinitely. I, however, am the same yesterday and today and forever.
Because I never change, your relationship with Me provides a rock-solid foundation for your life. I will never leave your side. When you move on from this life to the next. My Presence beside you will shine brighter with each step. You have nothing to fear, because I am with you for all time and throughout eternity.

Revelation 1:8
English Standard Version

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Hebrews 13:8
English Standard Version

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Psalm 102:25-27
English Standard Version

25 Of old you laid the foundation of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
26 They will perish, but you will remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away,
27     but you are the same, and your years have no end.

Psalm 48:14
English Standard Version

 that this is God,
our God forever and ever.
    He will guide us forever.

  4. Bless your heart, Maplewood NJ! I will hold you and your mom in prayer and I will picture you both (though I have no idea what you look like! :), God does!) in the most absolute peace and joy. What a special time. Are the two of you growing closer? I pray for that. What a gift, to have the opportunity to 'set righ' your differences. Your mom has to be so blessed to see your life and the love you have for God and for her.
I loved Sarah's reminder of our never-changing, loving Father. Everything else changes: relationships, people, circumstances, but our God - the same today, tomorrow, forever. Our Savior - always loving, never condemning, always powerful.
I ask for prayers of continued Godly communication between my husband and me. Father, keep my heart meek to Your Word, which my husband loves and speaks and do the same for him. Let us talk and share without being hurtful. Let us remember the 'dynamic duo' we are when we are like-minded on your Word and let our hearts be in tune with You as we strive to out-give one another, knowing that You meet all of our needs: financial, emotional, physical, mental and most of all, Spiritual. Let us find our common ground and build on that, once again, as we have for almost half a century! Keep my heart soft to Your guidance and help me build him up and respect his stand. Let him love me as Christ loved the Church. Let us both be the best example to our children of a Godly marriage. They see the discord; let them also see the victory as we allow you to work in each of us and we are meek to receive your guidance. YOU have the answer, Lord; let us see it clearly and not question.
There are times I feel guilty for asking for more - all of my problems are 'first world problems' as I've been reminded lately. Yet, if they are causing division, it is our responsibility to bring them to You. Thank you JC Family, for praying with believing with me. I hold all of you in prayer as well and believe your hearts are blessed, your needs met and that the desires of your hearts are His.

  11. Bob- my bday twin, hope you are having a fabulous time in TN! Janet is blessed to have you and so many others prayer for her without ceasing! It means a lot to me and my family. I stand in total trust that His grace is sufficient! She is coming out jumping (instead of walking-lol) and leaping and praising God, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth (Acts 3:6,8)! Stay blessed my brother.

Norah- Your aunt Mary Anna and her daughter are in my prayers. God is able!

Brie- LOL at your “sweet Maple Syrup”! In prayers for crystal clear water for you. Indeed God wants us to bring anything that concerns us to Him in prayers. His Peace is already yours!

Rose- Joining the JC family and praying for your cousin Angie, to the ONE who knows the situation and already at work, so that in He can be glorified! It shall be well!

Jeanne- Jehovah Rapha is with Morgan and will see her through this difficult time. My prayer is that she glorifies Him with praise and thanksgiving! Nothing is impossible for Him! She is blessed to have intercessors like you!

Brilamar- we miss you, hurry back!! God be with you.

    1. Thanks for the update on blessed Janet, twin bd sis! I luved your reference to her jumping rather than walking. Often times when I have prayed for some one to be healed, I would settle for a good limp. Not God. When God does a healing, there is leaping and dancing like the paralytic in Acts. (I still have a long ways to go but with your help, I am getting there.). God be with you and Janet!

How fun!)...I, too, have found myself 'settling for a good limp' when our God is all about leaping! Maplewood, your believing image of victory for your sister was so refreshing for me. Like the clear, clean water we are praying for Brie to have!
And, finally - Happy Anniversary Dear Bob - I will settle down and read your post, but I want to savor it and not rush - so more a little later! As I was typing this I thought, 'Wait a minute, Bob's having a root canal today!' WOW - that led me to all sorts of 'I'd rather have a root canal,' jokes which I bet you and your wife will laugh about later. 12. As Brie noted above, this is for my wife and me, our 50th wedding anniversary. That being said, I need to reflect on that with people who care and I’ve grown to know that is you. So if I may...

We were 20 years old and between our 2nd & 3rd years of college when we were married. Looking back from now, I really didn’t grasp what this marital state was all about for I was immature in such holy matters (my wife can speak for herself). But I was led to enter into this holy act by God for through the Holy Spirit, God would lead me to the maturity I would need to be faithfully devoted to my wife as I would say in my vow. God also would provide an abundance of grace that everyone needs in the maturation process. The vow has been kept in the essential ways but there have been countless moments we have hurt each other in little ways though there is nothing little about a hurt inflicted. But there is where God’s grace entered in so we would forgive each other as the Lord has forgiven us. In so doing, our relationship was sustained. Raising three daughters brought challenges to our relationship because that requires attention to them which formerly was directed to each other. From a Catholic priest (who says, ‘How can they know?’) we learned that our relationship had priority over our relationship with our children for being successful parents depended upon being united firmly in our love for each other. So we made constant effort to attend to our relationship while shaping three other lives. As my wife looks back, she feels the years when they were teens were some of the hardest years of our married lives. Of course, holding the position that I did as minister in the church and community threw some additional challenges into the process. God was faithful and those challenging waters were navigated by His grace. Though we have arrived at a milestone, we are ever changing and adjusting to each other’s changes. But being that we know each other so well after these 50 years, we are better able to know how to help each other. As we grow older and our physical capacities are diminishing, we rely more and more on each other and we have learned over the years that is what we should have been doing all along. There is yet to come a time that God has determined when ‘til death do we part’ must be passed through. But as God has been faithful all along the way, He will see us through that time until the day we are reunited in His kingdom eternally.

One last reflection if you would spare me a few more moments. In Catholicism, marriage is a sacrament, not so in the Presbyterian tradition in which I have spent my whole life. The reason for the difference is based on the criteria used to determine what qualifies to be a sacrament. But both believe a sacrament is an earthly action in which one encounters God. That being said, I have come to believe in the sacramental nature of marriage for so much of what I have experienced in being united to my wife in marriage is what is true in being united to God through Jesus Christ. There are many parallels in our love and devotion to each other that are true of God’s devotion to us. Yes, I have experienced God innumerable times in marriage over the past 50 years with more still to come.

Thanks for being a good listener. It helps in understanding more fully God’s love for us all.

    God be with you!

    Love, Bob

    4. Bob, What an amazing testimony to the glory of God! You are a walking living testimony to what God ordained and designed marriage to be. Not many can testify to what you shared. The truth is, no relationship comes with a lifetime guarantee. Despite imperfections, God created the husband and wife to steer each other in His direction. ‘Marriage is the firmest foundation for building a family and it mirrors God’s covenant relationship with His people.' You have walked the walked in the way God intended, so to you and your wife I say: A Big CONGRATULATIONS!
May the good Lord add another 50 more years and continue to walk with you through it. May His blessings overflow your life and that of your family, so others can see and model His example in and through you. Giving thanks for His grace that carried you through. The glory and honor are all His! May this joy that you feel, remain yours always.

    8. Congratulations on God’s faithfulness, grace and blessing in 50! years of commitment, friendship, and love. You choose to love every day. One of my favorite books is “A Sacred Marriage” by Gary Thomas where he asks, what if marriage is more about making us holy than happy? That seems true in your account and seems most important to our Papa God. Of course in shaping us to be holy, we find true happiness. So it is both. But all of it is miraculous and humbling as we trust one precious other with our authentic self- good, bad, and in growing moments. It is a joy to celebrate these milestones and to trust God’s grace for many many more years together. Happy happy anniversary!!!! 🎶🎉😍🥳

Even with the ups and downs of normal married life, your strength was that the two of you saw that He was your immovable cornerstone through raising your daughters, and facing every challenge in front of you. His faithfulness in leading you through 50 years of marriage with great love remaining in your hearts for each other and for Him is your greatest gift! May He keep you both deeply rooted in love and faith, and continue to give you both great joy for the rest of your journey together until you meet Him in His Kingdom. 15. Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for another day. Thank You that on Christ the solid rock I stand, ALL other ground is sinking sand. Your grace is sufficient for me! In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

John identifies Jesus as Alpha and Omega and in Revelation 1:8 as the Lord God,"who is and was and who is to come, the Almighty.” The "Lord God," reminds us that He is our ruler, He deserves our obedience and He deserves our worship. Jesus existed and always will exist as the Almighty. Before the world was formed Jesus existed, and as John 1:2-3 point outs, He was in the beginning with God, and He created everything.
In the beginning He said, "Let there be light." And for thousands of years the sun has risen every day to make us thirsty for His Light behind the light. He is going to satisfy those that thirst with an experience of His magnificent power beyond all description. He is the Omega of all things, the end source for those who thirst for Him forever! He is our God and wants us to enjoy His gifts. He was the fountain of our life in creation, and He will be the fountain of our life in the consummation. As we thirst for Him, He will be our God and we will be His children enjoying His inheritance forever and ever. He promised to give those who souls really thirst for Him, “water without price from the fountain of the water of life”(Rev. 21:-6-7). There’s always an invitation and we are wise when we accept.

Dear Father, Thank You for being the same yesterday, today and forever. As we change, You remain the same. We are blessed beyond our wildest imagination and thank You for being our rock solid foundation that shines brightly with each step we take. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

    Blessings and Peace!

    4. A very blessed post (as usual), twin bd sis! He is the Alpha, all of creation had its beginning in Him. In the meantime, bowIng one’s knee and confessing with one’s tongue taps into the joy that is to come. Thanks be to God! God be with you,.

  17. Good morning everyone! Thank you so much for you prayers for my friend and her family.

Another day, another mail, another part of the armor of God!

"Put on salvation as your helmet" Ephesians 6:17

"One of the things that's fundamental in the military is the helmet. The helmet is extremely important for protection. You never know where a shot might come from.
If you wear your helmet, Christ will be able to protect you.

The Greek translation for the word "helmet" means "to encircle and protect the head". In reality, when you wear the helmet of salvation, it allows you to continually renew yourself, especially in your thoughts.

The mind is a real spiritual battlefield. And without the helmet of salvation, it is impossible to have access to a victorious life in Jesus Christ. Indeed, the enemy of our soul very quickly locates those who do not wear one. It is sometimes in this way, alas, that some children of God lose faith. It is by nourishing yourself with His Word that your thoughts become realigned as you go along.
Your helmet, just like in the army, allows you to remain camouflaged, to be as if invisible to the eyes of your enemy."

I'm so blessed by these mails. I find these words about the armor of God so encouraging that I want to share them with you my precious JC family!

    Have a blessed day!

    Blessings from France

  19. Today's devotion encouraged me to hear Jesus Christ singing an old tune to me that my Mom used to sing when she was alive:
    I'll be loving you always
With a love that's true always.
    When the things you've planned
    Need a helping hand,
    I will understand always.
    Always.
Days may not be fair always,
That's when Ill be there always.
    Not for just an hour,
    Not for just a day,
    Not for just a year,
    But always.

    Always!

All of life begins with the creative power of You the Alpha and ending as the Omega. You were in the past exactly who You are in the present and precisely who You will be forevermore! Father, with all the sweeping changes happening in the world today, I thank You that Jesus isn’t one of them! He is the same Yesterday and Today and for all Future Ages! Thank You for Your unchanging love and Your unending mercy. May the Holy Spirit help me to stand strong for You, no matter if all around me abandon their position of faith. Jesus’ sameness is Your sameness. His unchangingness is Your unchangingness. The Father and Son are the same yesterday, today and forever, the same truth and the same treasure. 34. Dear wonderful JC Family,
My mom was weak and her fall was harder on her body than we all knew. She didn't have to be too scared because she/we thought she was going to get rehab and she thought she was going to get strong enough to come back home and live with me and our pets again. She went to be with the Lord on Thursday. She is in the best place now and has a new strong body. I've re-analyzed the last 10 days over and over in my mind because its all I can think about still. I can see that the Lord had it all wrapped in His perfect plan and perfectly orchestrated. I give Him the Glory for doing what was best for my mom and getting her safely home with Him.
Thank you for going through this with me since I've come here 1 1/2 years ago. I originally came asking for prayers because I lost all of my income sources when Covid happened and I didn't want to tell my mom because I knew how she'd worry. You prayer warriors prayed for me - a brand new stranger to you - just like you do for all who come here. It calmed me to receive your love and support and everything you prayed for since worked out. Praise the Lord! Thank you so very much for all of your prayers and kind words. Thank you for praying for her salvation and health. You've helped me more than you can know with sharing your similar situations and giving me much guidance on how to move through all I've had going on in a Christian manor.
I have regrets that I complained about how hard it was to live with her negativity and how I was overwhelmed. That was my selfish sin and I want to take responsibility for it here, publicly confess it, and I Praise the Lord that because of what He did for us that I can lay that at the foot of the cross.
God Bless you all and I will go back to addressing your concerns and victories as we move forward together.
    Love, Kathy

    3. Thanks for sharing my dear dear sister-friend in Christ, Kathy. You have my sympathy. I know God cares more about all the Christ-centered things you did do, and for trusting Him in the face of many obstacles, including times when there was nothing left in you. PROVERBS 10 reminds me that JESUS IS LOVE, and HIS LOVE looks for, sees, compliments, praises, and focuses on our strongpoints and our Goodness. I suspect He has completely forgiven you for complaining, especially now that you have laid that human foible down at the foot of His Cross.
It is reassuring to know that JC Prayer Warriors allowed God's calm to flow love and support through you, both in your receiving them and giving them to us, which you did.
As I do with so many others who passed through here, I personally missed your posts. I know people come and go, but I like it when they come and miss them when they go. Thanks be to God, I can connect with my continual prayers for all, even when I don't "see" them in here. I trust the Holy Spirit knows where they are and gets my prayers for them, to them. I can only imagine. Thank you for blessing us with your presence and your prayers. Both are appreciated. Best Regards, Brie

    4. Dear Kathy,
God was merciful and knew your Mom was going through her misery and pain. I believe in the last hours, she was making her peace with Him and seeking Him sincerely. She is now in a place of perfect stillness in His presence. We can only imagine her pure joy. All the tears have been wiped away and God's promises are being realized. You should not feel guilty about anything dear sister. You are merely a human being, frail and affected by emotions. God knows your heart of trust and faith. He loves you beyond this world. You will be with your Mom again. I pray she sought Him at the end. He is merciful even unto the end of time. Remember all the love you shared with your Mom, and all the care you gave your Mom. Don't ever look back in anger or guilt. Now is the time to be grateful that her suffering is over, and your next chapter is before you. May God lead you to all joy, peace, fulfillment and the desires of your beautiful heart!
Thank You Father for this in the Name of Jesus!

    6. Dear Kathy, my heart goes out to you and your family. I'm so glad you know exactly where your mom is...in the arms of Jesus! And as Brie said and you know, she is suffering no more! Guilt and shame is from the evil one. Remember you are human and we all fall short at times from being under tremendous pressure...of which you have been for awhile. Being a caregiver is incredibly taxing enough and then add a negative recipient and it's like climbing Mt. Everest every day; arduous and rough. God knows your heart and the love you had for your mom, catering to her every need. As I have said before, when caregivers get to heaven, they will be given a beautiful house to live in over the bluest of water...like they have in Bora Bora! Caregivers deserve nothing but the best when they get to heaven. You were a faithful servant to your mom and her needs. Thank you for letting us know about your mom, Kathy. 44. Wonderful devotion about the unchanging nature of our amazing God! His love, mercy and compassion endure forever. He never leaves us and He is always faithful and always good. Every good thing we have He has given us.
I’ll have my two dear grandsons for a few days and I know He will provide me with all the strength I need because He knows what I need more than I do. Praise Him for His loving kindness and tender mercies. We are so blessed to be His children. Hallelujah!

  45. But You are the same, and Your years will not come to an end. (Psalm 102:27). "For I, the LORD, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed." (Malachi 3:6). Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8). God will hear and answer them--even the one who sits enthroned from of old--Selah. With whom there is no change, and who do not fear God. (Psalm 55:19).

  46. With change comes uncertainty. Our God does not change therefore our salvation is secure.

  48. We're on our way to a check up for my son. Not sure if you remember what he went through over the years about a broken femur from a tumor and complications with osteomyelitis from that. Praying for a good report today. 🙏 lord willing, if all is well, we plan to head to myrtle beach tomorrow! We haven't been in 8 years, since my youngest was a baby <3 hope everyone is doing so well and enjoying this piece of life 💜
