Jesus Calling: December 11

I am working on your behalf. Bring Me all your concerns, including your dreams. Talk with Me about everything, letting the Light of My Presence shine on your hopes and plans. Spend time allowing My Light to infuse your dreams with life, gradually transforming them into reality. This is a very practical way of collaborating with Me. I, the Creator of the universe, have designed to co-create with you. Do not try to hurry this process. If you want to work with Me, you have to accept My time frame. Hurry is not in My nature. Abraham and Sarah had to wait many years for the fulfillment of My promise, a son. How their long wait intensified their enjoyment of this child! Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.
Psalm 36:9
English Standard Version
For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light do we see light.

Genesis 21:1-7
English Standard Version
1 The Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did to Sarah as he had promised. And Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age at the time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore him, Isaac. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. And Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh over me.” And she said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”

Hebrews 11:1
Amplified Version
Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].

My Prayer
Lord, I give you my life - all of it. I want my dreams and hopes to be yours and not something I hide from you. You know the needs I have. I continue to pray that my son would know you and pray that you would give him a tender and responsive heart. Take away any stubbornness and give him a new heart. Lord, you know I am a planner, but I also want to adjust to what you may provide.

  1. Jesus Calling is amazing, because it is surprising how often my head is right where Sarah's lessons are for the day. To trust and be patient for God's timing. How much angst has been spent being impatient and trying to do my plans? Trusting and praying that God will keep me from acting outside His timing on matters great and small.

    2. Today this really hit home. My family is falling apart now that I'm out of rehab. Recovering from a long meth addiction, my partner of 23 yrs says he's no longer attracted to me, says he's in love w another, my 2 son's don't know what to believe in bc every time they have prayed for me to leave addiction, they claim to be put off. Now I on the other , know with out god, I wouldn't be here. So I know I have to let go and let God! Jesus, please don't let my family fall apart, I've been lost so long without you, you never abandoned me, I abandoned you, and I have found my way back to you, please be with my family in this time

    5. My husband and I are praying for both our son and daughters to seek and serve GOD. they were trained up in the way they should go but in their rebellion they have chosen to attempt to do it on their own. We PRAISE GOD for what he is doing in each of their and their children's lives every day! NOW Faith is the substance of things hoped for, because we know we have the Holy Spirit interceding on our behalf we act as if it is already done! I touch and agree with each of those as I know you touch and agree with US for our Sons and daughters.

      IN HIS LOVE!

    6. I know what I want for Christmas. My Christmas prayer is this:
Father God, We love you and trust you above all. Thank you for leading our loved ones, family and friends to seek You with their whole heart, mind and soul, and find You for themselves. Open their closed eyes and soften their hardened hearts. Show them the things they seek in this world are temporary and they need what endures which is eternal. We pray this in the name of Your Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Thank you Jesus!!!

🎶 My Grown Up Christmas List by Kelly Clarkson
      Do you remember me
      I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you with childhood fantasies
Well I'm all grown up now
      And still need help somehow
I'm not a child but my heart still can dream

      So here's my lifelong wish
      My grown up Christmas list
Not for myself but for a world in need
      No more lives torn apart
      That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
      And right would always win
      And love would never end,
This is my grown up Christmas list

      As children we believe
      The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely wrapped beneath the tree
      But Heaven only knows
      That packages and bows
Can never heal a heartached human soul.
What is this illusion called the innocence of youth
Maybe only in our blind belief can we ever find the truth

This is my only lifelong wish
This is my grown up Christmas list

    12. Can I join this prayer party as well?! While my daughter and her husband are very plugged into and grounded in their faith, it's my son (& his wife) that have me at the alter regularly praying, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!". Nick was very plugged in to his youth group in high school but fell away, I think, due to witnessing his youth minister taking a misstep in his personal life. Since then, he has pulled away. Several of his friends are still super-grounded in their faith but Nick, not so much. Several years ago, he and I were driving somewhere and I asked him if he still talks to God. He said he did but I got the feeling my question was an uncomfortable one. I was still glad I asked it though. He is now married and has a 6 month old daughter, my first grand, and his wife isn't, as I say, plugged in either. I apologize for the long-winded reply here, but I too am joining in Jeanne's prayer for my son, Nick and his wife, Michelle to reach out to God again. God has been there for them thru several very stressful times and yet I don't think they realized it. I pray and hope they open their eyes soon and also see how God has been there waiting patiently for them to open the door.
I am SO grateful for this platform & JC family! Blessings, love, and prayers one and all! May we all be blessed with Jeanne's Christmas prayer and wish!

    17. Hi JC family! ( as you all feel like family!) How does HE do this??
I was reaching out to Him in the wee hours of this morning… as I too, share in so many of your prayers…
My family looks good on the outside.. falling apart on the inside… BUT GOD… husband an alcoholic, in a very dark place; youngest daughter has a sweet spirit but is immersed in the world and doesn’t know the Lord.. yet. Thankfully, gratefully, oldest daughter & son in law are believers. But tremendous baggage in this broken family. Again, BUT GOD… this blog is such a refuge; ALWAYS sooo helpful!! God Bless you Payton Family and Jeanne, Mad Fox, Bob, Brie, Jan, Audra, Maplewood… ALL that come to this well to drink… and of course first and foremost our Triune God… whom ALL blessings flow… I feel like I know you ALL and am forever grateful and look forward to meeting you all in heaven some day!! In the meantime, I continue to PRAY for you all… God sees… In Jesus Name…
      A grateful sister in Christ…
( forgive my long rambling, lol) but also thank you, as I needed to vent this… Turning it ALL over to HIM.. once again… ✝️❤️

Praying for Holy Spirit guidance on what's my place in 6 absolutely heart wrenching experiences happening at the same time with 3 grown sons, my grand daughter, my sister, and elderly father. Father, preserve us and give wisdom for stepping in or to be still so they will come to know your precious son Jesus once again. I'm getting out of the way for now so that they can reach for your hand, my Lord and Savior. In Jesus name, amen.

  7. As I awoke to a cold snowy day here on the east coast, I can't help but think of how blessed I am to be alive to see the beauty of God's creation, a season with so much prospects and joy, a season to celebrate the most important gift that God gave us! His Son JESUS. The white snowy skies, the aroma of hazelnut coffee, cinnamon, the season's flowers and all its beauty, amazes me and puts me in state of blessedness to the KING! Thank You father for another blessed day to say THANK YOU!
This morning, I pray for the homeless and as I step of the train or bus in NY city each morning and walk by them, may I remember how blessed I am and be a blessing to them with an offer of a hot cup of tea/coffee, bagel or bread, help me to keep my head up with a warm smile to them and never ever look down at them. We are blessed to be a blessing to such as these. Thank You Lord.

I also remember and pray for the police officer and innocent civilians who lost their lives in the senseless shooting in Jersey City, NJ yesterday. Please grant their families strength, hope and comfort at this time. We pray for peace and the end to senseless violence, we thank You Lord that we belong to You and not this world. May Your peace, Love and protection be ours all the days of our lives on this earth until Your Kingdom come.
Standing in the gap through prayers for all the brokenhearted, the faint, the weary, the poor, the homeless, the destitute, widows/widowers, the lonely, the children, the elderly, the hungry, the sick and all who are in need and are suffering in any way . Your 'grace' is sufficient of all of us! Thank You for answered prayers.

Blessings and Peace this day and beyond.

  12. Such an uplifting message, "Bring Me all your concerns, including your dreams. Talk with Me about everything, letting the Light of My Presence shine on your hopes and plans."

Today's message really hits home with me. After a year and a half, the woman I love still does not see us together in the future. But every time I feel I've had enough and draw a line, God moves the line and often has me bless her in various ways like car repairs ect. And to make a long road longer, she told me now there is someone else. I had already known but it was so hard to hear. But God will not let me close this door. He told me a year ago in August, "Don't hurry my work. I am doing a perfect work." Very similar to today's reading,
"If you want to work with Me, you have to accept My time frame."

I want to encourage anyone waiting for something to happen or change. We often don't see the "work" happening because we don't see the end result we want or maybe even need. But one thing I have learned through this is that He is working even when we can't see anything happening. And today's first line points it out, "I am working on your behalf."

Here is a beautiful analogy to consider. In the spring when a seed is planted, we do not see the "work" that is going on underground. We look for the evidence of the work after the plant emerges from the soil but long before it emerges, new life is exploding underground.

Even if I do not receive my desire to be with the woman I love, new life is blossoming. He is "working" this verse to become my reality: Rom 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all Joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit." Praying you receive His Joy and Peace while you wait on His work.

  16. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit (see Galatians 5:22).

Thanking You Father, for a great day to declare that I am FORGIVEN (TGIF- ThankGodI’mForgiven)! I am reminded in Prov. 16:9 that, A man's mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure. The Psalmist also said, "I trusted in, relied on, and was confident in You, O Lord; I said, You are my God. My times are in Your hands..." I also say to You Father, my times, my dreams, and concerns are all in Your capable hands. I walk in this by faith (at Your appointed time), seeing my harvest time come, the desires of my heart beginning to manifest, bondages falling off and my dreams coming to pass, in Jesus’ name. I accept Your perfect timing, because I know in it, I can live in hope and enjoy my life while You are working on all details. Your plans for my life is good, so please help me to live by discernment, revelation knowledge, wisdom and in all my “getting, get understanding” (Prov. 4:7). I’ve discovered that waiting on You is a given, and like Micah say (7:7), “Therefore I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me”! Trusting in You brings life to mind, body and soul and believing in You brings me rest. Thank You Lord, for JESUS.

But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing (James 1:4).

Sassy Mom- Keeping your precious Debbie in prayers and believing in our Lord for a NEGATIVE result. Sending healing mercy for her sore throat as well.

MadFox- Believing and trusting in our great Lord that someday very soon, you will count it all “PURE JOY”!

Bob- We miss you and keeping you in prayers. God be with you.

Taking a leap of faith, trusting God and flying with my mother to Nashville TN tomorrow morning to be with my sisters for few weeks. The NJ cold weather is not sitting well with her. Both of our COVID tests came back NEGATIVE and medical check-up great (Thank You Jesus!). I’m trusting God for her continue well being while there. With God’s help, I’m taking her to make sure she is protected through the airport and on the plane and I will be heading back on Sunday, in Jesus’ name.
Please keep us in prayers for traveling mercy and my mom’s continue good health. God bless.

    4. Dear Brie, Our good and loving Father was the guiding light in my wilderness today. Had so much to do and I was rushing and getting our tree decorated. My husband was talking to me about a great Beatles special called Get Back. It's very long so each episode is 2 hours. Anyway I was holding some Christmas things and trying to listen to him and I dropped a heavy glass angel on my treasured china plate that says: Jesus is the Reason for the Season. It broke in 6 pieces. I was so upset that I wanted to cry. My husband didn't understand because he said it was just a Christmas decoration. I called my sister who is my sister in Christ and she was trying to make me feel better. She said maybe you can glue it. I said I didn't think I could because it is not a flat oval plate. It is beveled. But I said God can do the impossible. So I tried so hard, gluing 2 pieces at a time and holding them together for a long time, and then doing the same with the next 2 pieces and then the next ones. 19. Good morning JC Family,

In the summer I lifted up my sister-in-law, who has cancer, in prayer. I know that the prayer warriors here have prayed for her. Today I am asking to please continue your prayers.

This week her doctors told her that the cancer has taken over. Any further chemo would not do any good and just make her more sick. They are giving her two months at best.

Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. My sister-in-law is still here with us and I am still hanging on believing that a miracle can happen for her. "Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses."
    Please pray for her.

Papa God, here we are. We bring it all to you. Where else would we go? You have the words of eternal life. If we go to the depths you are there. If we climb to the heights even there you will find us. You search us and know us. How amazing to be known and loved by you, the Creator of all things.
Powerful and all wise God, we know cancer shrinks at your name. We know cancer is powerless. We know all authority in heaven and earth is yours. Our hope and dream is for cancer to be annihilated. You raise the dead. You turn hearts of stone into hearts of flesh. You tell the wind and waves to be still. You cause the sun to go back. You halt the waters of the sea. Nothing is too difficult for you. We know. We believe.
Heal EOMH’s sister-in-law we pray. May the story and testimony travel to declare your glory and majesty. We know you can. We know you are able. Grant peace in our waiting Papa. May we rest in you. May our stories grow your bride and strengthen your disciples. Thank you Papa. Thank you for your love.
In Jesus’ holy and powerful name we pray, Amen.

  25. I know some have seen the post about The Christmas Star appearing this year on December 21st. Let's take a deeper look at how amazing this occurrence would be happening in 2020. In the year Jesus was born, there was violence, chaos, political & social unrest. It was dark. The magi found Him by way of the star, which was the meeting of 3 stars: jupiter, saturn & mars. They followed the star until it rested on where the babe was and they began to worship Him. In a time where it was dark, Light was brought into our world. Jesus stepped into the chaos & brought peace. Fast forward to this year. It's a time of violence, chaos, political & social unrest. It is dark. Winter solstice, December 21st. This day is the shortest & the night is the longest. It is literally the "darkest day", and is the beginning of what most would say is the cold, dark, winter season. On the darkest day this year, jupiter & saturn meet, giving us the Christmas Star! How fitting that this Christmas season we get to see this beautiful reminder. Light will & has stepped in. In our chaos, He is here, in our darkness, He is here. He brings Light and make all things new. So let's look to the heavens on December 21st for the star. Let's be reminded of His power, and His Light that He brings to mankind. He is perfect at stepping into our chaos & bringing "Peace" into it. Hallelujah!

  29. Second Saturday in Advent

15 As the people were filled with expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Messiah,[a] 16 John answered all of them by saying, “I baptize you with water; but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you with[b] the Holy Spirit and fire.  (Luke 3:15-16 (NRSV))

One of the risks of hurrying to the manger and skipping Advent is bypassing an intricate part of the whole story which is John the Baptist, his birth and his calling.  (How many of you have little figurines of a person clothed with camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, eating locusts and wild honey among your decorations?)  What made John great as stated by Jesus, among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist, was his humility in understanding exactly who he was and the role he played in the divine plan of salvation.  We will see in the days to come the same in Mary and Joseph.  Amidst all the excitement welling up for Christmas, the humility surrounding the birth of Jesus can be easily overlooked.  A few quotes on humility for you to ponder:

Pope John Paul II:  Humility is not identified with humiliation or resignation.  It is not accompanied by faint-heartedness.  On the contrary, humility is creative submission to the power of truth and love.  Humility is rejection of appearances and superficiality; it is the expression of the depth of the human spirit; it is the condition of its greatness.

Eduardo Chavez Sanchez:  To live in humility demands much fortitude, since it involves fleeing temptation and ridding one's life of self centered love.  It is an arduous battle to uproot injustices and live honestly, to grow in virtue daily so as to live in true freedom.  Humility is essential and glorifies God precisely because it is only the Divine Potter who can mold us with sanctity; only God can truly form us to be His chosen people, to be His friends, to be His children.

Rev. Gary Henderson from a sermon on the humility of John the Baptist:  Humility is characterized by being able to say: 1) I am sorry, 2) I was wrong, 3) I need help, 4) I don’t know.

We have several carols that have a humble tone to them.  But, the poem written by Christina Rossetti in 1874 may be the best of them all.  Though she was a semi-invalid for much of her life, she was a devout High Anglican who engaged in many charitable works.  This carol fits in the Advent spirit for though it is filled with images of Jesus’ birth, there is a definite reference to His return in verse 2: Heaven and earth shall flee away when he comes to reign.   All verses of which there are five, are not always sung.   This link gives all the verses with which Ms. Rossetti blessed us.

    In The Bleak Midwinter
    https://www.hymnsandcarolsofchristmas.com/Hymns_and_Carols/in_the_bleak_midwinter.htm

The poem stands by itself and is worth reflecting on but add music and images, and it becomes heavenly.

  31. Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promises and faithfulness to Your people. You are always with us, no matter what is happening in the world around us. You will not forsake us or leave us. You are the truth, the life, and the way. Let Your will be done and not ours. You are the Creator of all things. You are the best Father ever. Your timing of things is always perfect. Nobody comes close to You. You are always working in our lives and weaving things together for the good. Your ways are so much higher than ours. You know everything. We know nothing. Place Your kindness, humility, and love into all our hearts and minds and help us to share it with each other in the world. Father, so many things have changed in the world in this past year due to covid issues, and I know that all of this is part of Your perfect plan, but many have become even more "rushed" than ever before. It seems that few people seem to have time for a simple "hello" as they pass one another, walking by. Their cellphones have become their "master" and they have let fear rule in their hearts and minds. Sometimes I wonder, "where is God in your life?" "Do you remember Him?" But, then, You bring something into my life (a person, place, or thing) that shows me that there is still goodness here on earth and that there are still many believers among us. Thank You Jesus. I praise You Lord always. You always know what I need (even before I realize it). Thank You for bringing the joy into my heart and for delighting me with all Your goodness and glory. You are truly amazing and wonderful. You are the most high God Almighty. Thank You for spending time with little O me and for everything You do in my life and for me. Thank You for all my benefits and blessings Lord. As insignificant as I am, You love me as if I was the only person in the world (as You do with all Your children). Thank You for making me feel so special to You. Help me to not take You for granted and remind me of Your heavenly, loving presence within me and all around me. Thank You for all that You reveal, teach, and show me. Let my eyes stay focused on You. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

  32. Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4). Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6). The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and His angels. (Revelation 3:5). Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains. Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind, for He breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron. (Psalm 107:13-16).

This basically means it will require some additional clicks to get to the final page of the latest comments (i.e. "Load More" after 200 comments). I wish there was a different way for it to work but am hoping this isn't an obstacle for folks. Thanks for being here.
