Jesus Calling: March 19

I speak to you from the depths of your being. Hear Me saying soothing words of Peace, assuring you of My Love. Do not listen to voices of accusation, for they are not from Me. I speak to you in love-tones, lifting you up. My Spirit convicts cleanly, without crushing words of shame. Let the Spirit take charge of your mind, combing out tangles of deception. Be transformed by the trust that I live within you.
The Light of My Presence is shining upon you, in benedictions of Peace. Let My Light shine in you; don't dim it with worries or fears. Holiness is letting Me live through you. Since I dwell in you, you are fully equipped to be holy. Pause before responding to people or situations, giving My Spirit space to act through you. Hasty words and actions leave no room for Me; this is atheistic living. I want to inhabit all your moments--gracing your thoughts, words, and behavior.
Romans 8:1-2
English Standard Version
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

Colossians 1:27
English Standard Version
To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

1 Corinthians 6:19English Standard Version
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,

My Prayer
Lord, thank you for the truth of your Word. Thank You Holy Spirit for guiding me into all truth and helping me see my sin and then transforming me through the grace of God. Help me to recognize that You are the answer to my questions. You are wanting to work in me to be holy. You don't point the finger at me, but I have been set free in Christ Jesus. Thank you for speaking to me each day and showing me how to live. I pray for obedience to your Spirit and waiting on You before responding to people. I want to be controlled by You. I yield to the Spirit. Help me be patient with those around me and may my words be few.

  1. We yield our members to righteousness leading to life, and not to sin unto death; we mortify our members which are upon the earth; we are dead (carnally), and our life is hid with Christ in God; we sit in heavenly places with Him, and escape the corruption of the world that is found in the deceitfulness of lust. For to be carnally minded is death, but to spiritually minded is life, and peace.

Thank you, Jesus, for making this possible.

  3. So often lately, I've read, 'Wait on the Lord,' 'Be still and know that I am God,' and now today, 'Pause before responding to people or situations, giving My Spirit space to act through you. Hasty words and actions leave no room for Me...' Lord, I ask for your help in all of these things. I can be rambunctious and sometimes my words fly before I filter. I have received your Guidance; now, please help me put it into action. I know you know my heart and it is never to hurt. I just need to use my pause button more often. So thankful for Your Love, Mercy and Grace. Calm me down, Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ.

  5. I am asking for your prayers today. My son has relapsed in his recovery. He is a wonderful person with a big heart but suffers from an awful addiction. I am not one to enable people and I am reaching the end of my rope with him. He's in his late 20s and I am starting to feel like this cycle will never end. I'm trying not to lose hope but it gets more difficult each time he relapses. I believe he has a relationship with the Lord so I am grateful for that. I am leaning on Jesus for comfort. I ask this wonderful group for your prayers for my son, my wife, and my family. Thank you all and God Bless!

    1. Lord give this family strength that can only come from you. In their weakness you are strong. In their trials and tribulations you give them an inner Joy and a peace and you build character that is beyond this worlds measure. The body is not our own Lord but it is yours bought with a price and by the blood of Jesus Christ. I pray that this family would have faith that their son's body is in full ownership of you and that you will be his overcomer as the family walks alongside and loves him through his challenges and trials.

    2. TJ: In my opinion, to lose your child to addiction or death is the single greatest challenge a parent can experience. The cycle of addiction causes great pain for all family members and recovery like faith is a day by day experience. Enabling is part of a parent's DNA and so to stop and allow for the adult child to deal with the problem is challenging. Al-Anon has great resources to help separate fact from fiction in what is and isn't enabling.

The other difficult part is usually the deceit by the addicted person to their loved ones. God is truth. Fear is a liar (recent song is on target on this). The ONLY success I have ever seen in my family or employees is an addicted person getting counseling (AA is at the top of the list) and believing in God. Having had this in my family, I can only say, keep hold of God's hand as the journey always has good and rough paths. The Father lost His Son and when your son is in the depths of addiction, He will lift you up. In Jesus name we pray for healing and wisdom for you, your family, and your son. Godspeed TJ. Peace.

    3. TJ I can truly relate to your son as I have personal experience with this issue.

I know what it is like to think the cycle is unending; nevertheless, this is indeed a lie, as the Truth indicats that a righteous man falls SEVEN times and gets up again, and Jesus said to forgive a repentant brother 490 times, signifying there is always an end IN SIGHT to bondage.

I have prayed for your son and his/your miracle is coming!

      Much Love

  11. Hello JC family. It may be strange, but I do feel like you're family since I've gotten used to reading all of your posts. I've silently read this blog daily for years, but haven't really commented. I know that you are a strong prayer team and would like to bring a request. I've struggled with anxiety and depression for a good part of my life. There was about a year where I couldn't leave my house because it was so severe. God, in his AWESOMENESS, has changed my thinking, lead me to helpful resources, and has set me on a path to go back to school to become a Christian counselor to people who are just like I was. I am so grateful for my struggle because it's given me purpose and I can see God using it for good. That being said, I can still fall into so old bad thought patterns and am prone to anxiety, so this current outbreak is a challenge for me. I could really use your prayers to keep the anxiety away by trusting God and to keep moving forward so I can help lead others out of darkness. I have friends and family members who are not saved, and I know they'll be watching me to see how I react to this crisis. I want to be the best reflection of Jesus that I can be so I guess what I'm asking for are prayers to stay focused and to remember God is in control so there's no need to fear.
    Thank you all very much!

    8. Dear Meredith from Texas, you have poured out your heart to us and because there is such strong desire within you for what you have asked for in prayer, it will be. Beware of times of vulnerability such as we are presently in. Past demons never go away, they choose to hide until a more opportune time but as you have so beautifully done, you have turned their efforts into ways to help others. By opening up and sharing with us the demons you struggle with, you have shone light upon them and demons hate the light, they run from light.

Lord God, as Meredith has found strength in You, continue to give her strength when the demons would seek to do otherwise. Hallelujah, You have got her in Your love for her. Reveal Your Self to those around her. Amen

  12. God of Love, thank You for loving me even when I can’t see or feel it. Thank You for the light of Your Presence that is shining in me allowing me to see another day. I invite Your Spirit to take charge of my mind and comb out all tangles of the enemy’s lies and deception. I love you and Thank You for first loving me.

Reading these devotions the past few days in the midst of whats going on in the world today, so many thoughts have come to my mind. One of whom is the faith journey, which starts with understanding that God loves us. If we do not have an assurance of God’s love, our faith journey will weaver.
Sometimes it is hard to see how God has saved us and still doing so despite what we face. He is saving us all the time, but sometimes we just don’t see it.
The movie SIGNS gives us a great insight of how God saves us. In this movie, the world is under attack by space aliens who come to the home of Graham, a former Episcopal priest, played by Mel Gibson. Graham’s son has asthma, and during the attack, the son is near death due to his condition. Graham hates God because God has given his son this condition, and his son is unable to breathe. But when an alien tries to kill Graham’s son with poison, the poison does not enter his body because the asthma has closed his lungs. Graham realizes that the asthma has actually saved his son’s life. God turned a bad situation into a life changing testimony!
A lesson is learned here and that is, just because we don’t understand life’s troubles or see what God is doing, doesn’t mean He has abandoned us. Psalm 86:5 says:"You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you”. You gotta love the Psalms, it is unlike other books in the Bible, it’s like a songbook for believers to praise and worship the Lord.
Heavenly Father, You are God of Love. Your Word tells us in Romans 5:5 that: "Hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us”. Father, please open our spiritual eyes to how much You love us despite the troubles of life. Thank You for calling us into a special love relationship with You, one that is based on hope. These assurances are building on that hope, but You know that there will be disappointments. Times when we disappoint You and times when we feel disappointed by You. Thank You that it is for those times that You provide the Holy Spirit to pour love into our being. In trying times like now, please help us to look to Your Word:“The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing“ (Zephaniah 3:17). Thank You for this pandemic, because through it, the world seems to have slowed down from the business and social madness and people are seeking You, even millennials. From America, to Italy, to Spain, Africa and other parts, You are being praised and worship on balconies and roof tops! The devil has failed, church doors may be closed on Sundays for worship, but the message will and still being preached through livestream TV, Facebook, YouTube and others. The Gospel is reaching many people who didn’t even think about hearing it! Thank You Awesome God. Your Word reigns in Romans 8:28 ,“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
    Oh Thank You Lord!

    Peace and Love to all,

How true to know & remember: Since YOU dwell in me, I am fully equipped to be holy🙏❤️. Help me to head YOUR reminders and to pause before responding to people or situations, giving YOUR Spirit space to act through me. & because Hasty words and actions leave no room for YOU, help me to refrain from uttering such things or doing something without first consulting YOU. Help me to pause before I act or speak, to wait upon YOUR spirit to guide my actions and words. I praise YOU LORD for this life , although I am Not of this world, I’m so grateful to be able to experience & see the vast creations in nature YOU blessed us with. In spite of the chaos , wars and tyranny, YOUR love and glory are seen within nature, heard in the songs of many birds, surrounded by all creatures big and small, each with their own purpose- what a magnificent GOD YOU are🙏❤️
I also pray for my loved ones whom have lost several family members in the past 6 weeks. Please bring comfort to my family and reminders of YOUR promises.
LORD I again plead for YOUR divine intervention with the children in this country in particular, as it is now becoming a known fact our foster care & immigration relocation program for children almost always lead them into slave labor or worse sex trade. I get sick to my stomach LORD, knowing there’s nothing I can do, if there is a way I can do something help me to see how. I would do anything to save even one. LORD I know YOU must be with them as it states in Matthew 10:14 “…..do not hinder them (the children) for to such belongs the kingdom of GOD” so I find comfort knowing YOU must be with them.
I surrender my self, my life to YOU today, as I do every day. LORD I ask for YOUR Will to be done in my life
I praise YOU for my breath, my children, loved ones, our home, the freedom to come and go and for always providing for me and my little family as well as all of my brothers and sisters not only in the congregations I attend but all of them worldwide, thank YOU, LORD I praise YOU & continue to strive to become YOUR ambassador.
I pray all these words through the son of man, Jesus Christ
      Amen

  15. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10)

(Matthew 10:21-25) Jesus continues in this vein of coming persecutions. It is difficult to listen to but it is honest truth so why shouldn't I listen? He tells us that our faith in Him has such a cutting edge that it will divide even the closest of family relationships causing severe reactions. "All will hate you because of me." (His words are getting so discomforting. What does He mean by 'all', because I work so hard on being liked.) But then He makes His point of this discussion with a simple word, 'endure'. He is calling us to stay true to the faith no matter what. Then comes words with a glimmer of hope amidst these difficult times when He makes a reference to His coming to us. He finishes by implying we will see Him experience all of this; as His faithful followers, we can expect no less. (At this point in our journey with Him, I have no idea what He is referring to but His intention is not to explain anything about what will come. No, it is simply to challenge us to take seriously our faith no matter what.)

"If any want to be my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." (Matthew 16:24) The JC reading for today is showing us the way to peace, something everyone wants. But Jesus' words in Matthew 10 make clear the peace is something not of this world. Rather it is in relationship with Him. May we all keep focus on our relationship with Him especially during difficult times. My Lenten prayer is, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me." and He is answering in a way I never could have imagined. He is taking seriously my prayer, I need to be sure I am as well.

God be with you, my sisters and brothers in Christ. With love, Bob

  25. As I continue to watch Jesus in action to see the divine plan unfolding for all and for my role in emulating how He lived, I am taken to the time when He went into the temple looking for a spiritual space in which He and all people could come, pray and draw near to God. But lo, what did He meet but the sacred space had been converted into a market place to fleece the pilgrims who had journey to draw near to God. Jesus, in His compassion for the soul that earnestly desired God, became visibly upset at what He saw. He took a whip and drove out everyone and everything that was corrupting this sacred space. As Isaiah had prophesied, 'He was consumed by zeal for being in the presence of God' not only for Himself but everyone else who desired the same. (John 2:13-17)

So what am I to emulate in what I witness in Jesus? Does this give me privilege of exploding in anger? Unfortunately, when anger arises in my soul, it is more the result of not having things the way I want them. Jesus anger in this situation was because things were not the way God wanted them. That is holy anger as compared to my selfish anger. It is quite alright to look into the many ways in our culture that simple people with limited power are being fleeced by the greedy, the lustful, and the self-centered, who use the simple to their advantage. That is not what God desires and being bothered by that reflects Jesus response in the temple area. The tougher questions is how should that 'holy anger' be channeled in ways that truly correct the wrongs and help those in need? I don't see Jesus in this incident causing hurt to anyone except the blow He struck to their pocketbook. There are countless figures in history who were disturbed by wrongful treatment of common folk. They didn't shoot anyone, they didn't become destructive in harmful ways. No, most likely through prayer and contemplation, they chose actions that would bring about justice for those suffering from injustice. In many cases, they suffered and even died because of their passion for the abused of society.

Questions I find myself left with in contemplating this incident in Jesus life: How bothered am I by the ills in our society? Am I willing to pray over them fully aware to do so is likely to bring about my involvement in some way or another? Would there be a limit to what I will do for the sake of others? Tough questions. But I must never forget how Jesus saw simple people suffering at the hands of those in power and His love for them led Him to do something about it. His greatest expression of 'holy anger' was when He saw what Satan was doing to God's children and He defeated Satan on the cross to redeem all under Satan's power. Now that is 'holy anger' and that is the anger I am called to emulate.

May you find the meaning of that incident in Jesus' life for yourself. Please share when you do. God be with you. With love, Bob

    1. Thanks BOB,
About four days ago, I shared that incident as my favorite Bible Story, for the reasons that follow:
In my favorite Bible Story of Jesus, what attitude of Jesus seemed to rise to the surface just by the way(s) Jesus acted?
JOHN 2 will always hold a special place in my heart because it led me to Jesus, the person, who pre-walked in my shoes. It led to an insatiable hunger and thirst to know far more about Him, apart from the denominational view. It led me to read the Bible. It led me to love Him more and more each day. It led me to want to be like Him.
When I was a dawdling and a dabbling with one foot in and one foot out of Christianity, I thought Jesus was so perfect, I could never relate to Him, nor Him to me, so why bother. I was telling this to a Real Christian who approached me, and furthering my defense with, I am hurt and angry; Jesus doesn’t get angry.
The Christian told me to read John 2:14. I did. What a difference that day made, continuing non-stop ever since!
In my humble opinion, Jesus' Attitude displayed Anger and a tremendous amount of Love and Respect for His Heavenly Father.
      ----------------------------------------------------------------
My second Favorite Bible Stories are the ones that teach Jesus' Math:
      5 loaves + 2 fish + Thanks = 5,000 +
      His attitude to me was Total Confidence in His Heavenly Father to work Mighty Marvelous Miracles;
      ----------------------------------------------------------------
And of course there was His changing water into wine; not cheap screw top wine but good, choice wine!...His Attitude was Obedience to and Respect for His Mother, and for Laissez les bon temps rouler. Oui Cher!

    2. Thank you Bob. You raise very insightful points and questions. I was humbled and reminded yesterday of these thoughts: Are we living to please God or are we living to please ourselves? Who do we put first daily? How much do we really care? It's been a lot to digest. God bless you 🙏.

    3. Bob, Whenever I read Jesus got angry, or weary, or sad and wept, or was tempted and tried, it makes me feel so much closer to Him because He really knows and has experienced all the human emotions and so He understands what we are going through down here. I can tell Him anything and He sympathizes with me.
Dear Brie, I am so happy that God's Word led you to Jesus and now you are my sister. We know that the love He gives us is a perfect love. He must reign in our hearts above all. He is the most important part of us and our lives.
I have a plumber in today for a leak under the sink and I was telling Him I was doing well because Jesus is with me always. And we talked about faith for a while. I told him Jesus was everything to me and I can't get through a day without Him. He said he understands. I know you understand as does all my JC Family.

  26. Many "Thanks" to my JC family. The procedure went amazingly well. En route I said to hubby that a calm was washing over me that I felt sleepy. Then hubby was praying over me when the surgeon walked in, took my hand & joined us, so sweet. One minute I was wheeled into the surgery room, then I woke up & it's done! I was given a pole to hang on to to go to the bathroom,I accidentally blurted out that I was dancing with the pole, a nurse quickly yelled out, "are you pole dancing"? Patients & staff broke out in laughter. Leave it to the Lord to lighten up an otherwise tense atmosphere. God is so good! Bless each of you for covering me.🙏💕🥰

  32. Happy St. Joseph Day! What a humble and obedient servant of God. He must have spent so much time with Jesus in his workshop, teaching him his craft of carpentry and being a man. Of course Jospeh was also taught by Jesus! Learning so much about their heavenly Father. With so many fatherless families today St. Joseph is a spiritual mentor available to guide men to be good and honorable fathers AND husbands!
Todays Jesus Calling is so good, as all seem to be :)! The voice of non-judgement, compassion and mercy rings so true. Exercising good listening skills. Taking a pause to ponder and reflect before responding in haste. Even in prayer to God we need to reflect and truly listen and hear Him speak, before jumping in with OUR needs and requests. Often I am guilty of praying for guidance but I don't listen with an open heart for his response to my call. Dear Father along with my verbal requests give me the ability/wisdom to listen to your response before I act! Amen.

    1. Thanks for mentioning St Joseph Day, ABC. I have always looked up to Joseph's example of faithfulness. Contrary to Zachariah and even Mary, when he received revelations, he never asked any questions (as well he could have); no he just proceeded to be obedient. Pope Francis has declared this the Year of Saint Joseph and has said, 'each of us can discover in Joseph - the man who goes unnoticed, a daily, discreet and hidden presence - an intercessor, a support and a guide in times of trouble.' Magnificat has published a small book entitled, 'Nine Day with Saint Joseph'. I look forward to spending time with it in the season of Eastertide. God be with you.

  38. My Beloved JCFAMILY,
satan's #1 tool he uses is Fear. 365 times in the WORD, it says DO NOT FEAR! When he starts to put fear upon you, most of the time, he doesn't have to do anything to prove that fear. It is called unfounded fear. He puts thoughts into your mind about horrible things that will happen to you or your family.
So just turn and say: "You are a liar! I am NOT GOING TO LISTEN to you! I serve THE LIVING GOD and ONLY THE LIVING GOD! I DON'T serve you --- SO GET OUT!!! When you say those words, he WILL FLEE! Our God always gives us a way to stomp on him and defeat him! So let there be lots of stomping, when needed!

“Therefore if God’s desire is to enlarge your capacity for spiritual understanding, do not be frightened by the greater realm of suffering that awaits you. The Lord’s capacity for sympathy is greater still, for the breath of the Holy Spirit into His new creation never makes a heart hard and insensitive, but affectionate, tender, and true.” Anna Shipton

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. 1 Timothy 1:12

  40. Just had to share some good news. Yesterday my grandson didn’t want to hold my hand. When I was watching tv with my DH, I felt a big cyst on the base of my right index finger. It really upset me. I showed it to my DH. Of course he just said it’s not the end of the world. I prayed and thanked God for healing all my weaknesses. Then when I was getting ready for bed I touched my finger and it was completely gone! I just thanked Him and praised His Name! Amazing miracle! I’m so blessed to see His faithfulness once again.

  42. Busy day of singing in Church, Easter rehearsal, and driving to Brooklyn for my brother’s birthday celebration. Praying God’s spirit will lead me to be a bright light among my family and a bringer of peace. I pray my brother Frankie enjoys himself and has fun being with those who love him. Little Gabriel is making him a nice picture as his gift. Can’t wait to see it!!
Today’s devotion was very good and so were the verses but I really loved the prayer. God is the answer to our questions. He can make every situation better. He turns our tears into dancing!! He always makes a way even when we can’t see any. He is working in us every day. I sure need that. I always ask Him to make me a better person and help me not to judge or envy others or think too much about myself. I’m so imperfect and yet I am loved perfectly. I want to love others that way. What a gift it is that perfect love casts out fear. I always say if I’m fearful then I’m not trusting in God. His love and peace cover everything. So we should rest in it.

1 John 4:18 - There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Colossians 3:14 - And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

    2. Thanks! I was trying to be a light today! It was a blessing to see the family enjoying their time together. And my brother was having fun. Praying on that dear Jan. One family member who has cut herself off from my sister (her Mom), is the one who needs God’s help to soften her heart. I spoke to her later and told her it’s not good to keep anger inside and God wants her to forgive and ask for forgiveness. She said I wasn’t respecting her boundaries and she didn’t want my sister’s name mentioned. Guess she just wants that wall up against my sister. I told her that her Mom loves her and has forgiven her. Very upsetting to me. It’s in God’s Hands.

  43. So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. (James 1:19). But He said, "More than that, blessed are those that hear the word of God and keep it!" (Luke 11:28). Call to Me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. (Jeremiah 33:3).

Our TV remote has a Pause button. I gotta remember I can pause too! Too often, without hesitation I jump in with both feet then find I've put my foot in it! A reactive foot-in-mouth disease.

" I want to inhabit all your moments-gracing your thoughts, words, and behavior. " Yes, Amen Lord".
    1 Corinthians 2:14-16
But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the 'mind of Christ'.
'May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By his love and pow'r controlling
    All I do and say.'

  49. Saw this and wanted to share:
Daniel never prayed for the lions to go away.

Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego never prayed for the fire to go away.

David never prayed for the giant to go away.

It was almost like they knew that in the midst of my lack, in the midst of my pain, God begins to show up and bring Glory to the situation.

It's almost like they said, "God don't take it away; teach me something in the midst of it."

    2. Very interesting observations of these OT faith building passages. Trust was the operative word in each victory, but wow, it was also tremndous faith.

Father, Build our faith, when we are under "fire," when we are seemingly going to attacked, and bring us victory over "giants" who oppose us. Amen.

  51. For the past several weeks I have been praying for my difficult conversations. And now I know the reason! God's Holy Spirit was getting me ready to receive today's devotion. He Prepareth His Table BEFORE me!
...Do not listen to voices of accusation, for they are not from Me. I speak to you in love-tones, lifting you up...
To activate today's devotion and allow You to live through me, ,
this is the same Spirit I must pass on to ALL others, in ALL my conversations. So help me God Pause for Spirit Space in order to do so. In Jesus' Name. 🙏 AMEN!
