Jesus Calling: March 30

I am taking care of you. Trust Me at all times. Trust Me in all circumstances. Trust Me with all your heart. When you are weary and everything seems to be going wrong, you can still utter these four words: "I trust You, Jesus." By doing so, you release matters into My control, and you fall back into the security of My everlasting arms.
Before you arise from your bed in the morning, I have already arranged the events of your day. Every day provides many opportunities for you to learn My ways and grow closer to Me. Signs of My Presence brighten even the dullest day when you have eyes that really see. Search for Me as for hidden treasure. I will be found by you.

Proverbs 3:5
English Standard Version (ESV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.

Thought: These words challenge believers to put more confidence in God's ability than in their own, to not try to analyze and figure out every detail themselves, but to place their belief in God's wisdom, love and strength; to lean on God instead of relying on themselves or anyone else.

Deuteronomy 33:27
English Standard Version (ESV)
The eternal God is your dwelling place,
and underneath are the everlasting arms.
And he thrust out the enemy before you
and said, ‘Destroy.’
Thought: As we learn to depend upon the eternal God, we discover that His everlasting arms are never exhausted. His everlasting arms are always sufficient for our unknown future and unfathomable present needs.

Jeremiah 29:13-14
English Standard Version (ESV)
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.

Thought: Searching for God with all your heart is intimately connected with honoring, examining and obeying His Word.

My Prayer
Thank You for knowing my days. Thank You for knowing me so well Lord. Lord, I go to doctor's because I want them to tell me what is wrong with me. And yet Lord, You remind me that You know everything about me already. Lord, I want to be bold for you throughout the day. Help me to realize that You have ordered my day and there are people in my path that need to know You. Lord, make me the bold one. Help me to start up conversations with people. I pray that my growth in You would come by experience and not simply sitting and reading the Word of God. It is important to read, but it is more important to live it.

Note: The devotion and scriptures are from author Sarah Young. If you haven't already, please purchase the book and support the author.

  2. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and each daily reading. I trust you Jesus! I pray that I remain ever loving and trusting in God and that I walk in His word and live always in His word. He feeds my spirit man from the inside out. I know that within me dwells the very strength that raised Christ from the dead on the 3rd day when He arose on that Resurrection Sunday. God know each day from the next. He has our lives already planned. Why do we stray instead of asking for His guidance. Help me Jesus, so I may always turn to you for all my needs, Amen. ❤πŸ•Š❤

  9. Lord I thank you that we can put our trust in you. You are sovereign and your ways are perfect. We have learned in the world we can't always trust, but in you we can. You are not a man that can lie and we thank you and praise you for that. Your promises to us are eternal and won't ever change we can depend on you just as believers through the ages could. You are our rock and our salvation, our Lord and master. But unlike other masters you call us friend. You desire an intimate relationship with each of us. Thank you for seeing us as the apple of your eye. How truly blessed we are to have you as our God. Please Lord help us to feed the truth into others as the truth of your love has been fed into us. As Jesus said to Peter, "Feed my Sheep" he is calling each of us in our own sheep pasture to feed his sheep. What has he put in your hand? This is what God has given you as a tool to be used and become Jesus in the flesh and feed his sheep. Thank you Payton Family and everyone who adds to this blog. I read it and reread it through out my day. It's wonderful to have on my phone while I rock the little one or as I'm riding in the car. I still don't understand why I can't post from my phone anymore or why my google account won't let me post at all. Each of you are in my prayers. By the way madfox I got the book you referenced about Joseph, Very good read. All that for another post when I can sit down at my computer again. Until then Love in Christ Jesus your Sister, TERRI p.s. 13. I'm thankful for a quiet, Sat. morning to take it easy and not rush into the day. I made myself laugh b/c I read, "When you are weary," as "When it is dreary!" That it is today, rainy, gray and perfect for a day of resting, healing from the long, hard week. Trusting you, Lord with all the things that 'hit' my head throughout the course of a day. That I remember to confess my trust in You. I'm thankful for all of the readers on this blog and join them in prayer for their adult kids, issues, concerns, journeys. Requesting prayers for the healing of my knee which is acting up and for the smooth transition as I switch phones. EEEK! So thankful for my son who thinks it's 'no big deal at all - I can help you and Dad!' All of this "great" technology can stress me out but, again, I will trust you, Father, to guide us and keep me calm. Bodies have a hard time healing when we're stressed! Prayers for you and your daughters, Sassy Mom and Jj (we go through that periodically with all of ours); and for all of our JC Family as we exercise our privilege of trusting our Savior, as He so gently reminds us to do.

Morning glory and honor to You Loving Father, Thank You for a new day and for all You have prepared for me. As I go about my day, please remind me to trust in Your ability and not my own. Help me to focus on You and Your power and teach me to see my trials from Your perspective. I have faith in Your ability to fulfill Your promises to me. Let Your will be done. Thank You Lord for fighting all my seen and unseen battles, in Jesus name.

The Bible tells us to: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding" (Prov. 3:5). Someone might ask, how do I trust God in all circumstances especially during hard times? There are many reasons for us to trust God. Let’s start by having a relationship with HIM and making that a priority, by CHOOSING to trust God, by remembering all that God has done for you before, by walking by faith and not by sight, by calling out to trust Him even when it makes no sense, by trusting and not waiting for a feeling of confidence, and by releasing control so that you can get to a deeper place of trust!

It is very important to keep record of all the things God has done in your life and the lives of your love ones. The Word says: “O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge”(Psalm 62:8). Our Father has huge shoulders and is always waiting for His children to CRY on Him with anything they are facing. We see in the Bible that many men and women cried out to the Lord. The book of Psalms is full of David’s crying out to the Lord, in Luke 40, Martha cried to the Lord for her sister to help her. But the most encouraging, is when Jesus cried out to His Father, “…..let this cup pass from me….”(Matt 26:39). We should be brutally honest with God, because He is big enough, powerful, and gracious enough to handle any emotion we might have, whether its anger or compassionate complaint. In Psalm 77, Asaph wrestles and cries to God, but then he remembers how God has helped him in the past and then turned his trust right back to God! Hagar through her seemingly impossible situation, learned a life-changing lesson in trust. Her story gives us all hope today as we face life’s trials.

We should trust Him to bring good from a disappointing day, disappointing seasons, the unexpected, despite our feelings and even when we don’t understand. We should understand however, that what matters to us, matters even more so to God. He is with us always. He said: “For I know the plans I have for you,...plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah. 29:11). Now that’s a Promise!
We have a choice here, we either believe Him and the Word or we don’t. It’s ALL or nothing! Let’s not be like the 5 foolish virgins, but run the race of trusting in our Father like the 5 WISE virgins (they were prepared, because they trusted the Bridegroom was coming)!

Heavenly Father, we thank You for who You are in our lives. Thank You that You are the God of the impossible. Please Teach us how to walk in faith and in Your ability to breakthrough every obstacle in our lives, just like You did for Hagar, David, Asaph and others, in Jesus name we ask.

    Blessings and peace to all.

  20. All of us are falling back into the security of His everlasting arms! What a moment by moment walk. Happy Belated Birthdays to TJ, Maplewood and Bob. So many times I went on to wish you a Happy Birthday or comment on various posts, only to be interrupted (pleasantly so) by calls or little voices outside, next door. We caught up over the fence - safely distanced but our hearts were so warmed.
Good to read your posts, MadFox (missed you) and Bob and Maplewood - your words always stir my heart, as did yours, Brittanyomb - so many wonderful posts that I returned to over the last few days along with Peyton Family prayers from years past that are so relevant today.
Loveconquersall - you and your family are in my prayers, as are all of you on here - our JC Family - so precious.
Looking back over our posts causes me to think, 'This time last year,' and what we will be saying this time next year, God willing. He will deliver us from this silent enemy - in fact, I believe it is already done, we are all just catching up with Him. He knows every fiber of our beings and how things will play out. Our job is to trust him.
We used to tell our children when they were little to, "Trust, Remember and Obey." Trust in the Lord with all of your heart. Remember His Word, which he placed above His own name. Obey His Word and enjoy the results. He has gone before each of us, this day and our days to come. As I pray for my sister-in-love, Jinny, I think of these words and how she is trusting Him each step of the way.
Just saw your note, Sassy Mom and I thank you, for you are much loved and prayed for! :)
God Bless each of you - I will be reading and praying throughout the day.

  22. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10)

(Matthew 11:25-30) Jesus can see that the words He had just spoken had cut into me in the depths of my being. Thus, He looks to His Heavenly Father, to give thanks that I have been impacted by the these truths. Even though I am not the "brightest bulb in the chandelier", I have understood what Jesus is saying. Jesus gives thanks to God that believing isn't based on a high IQ but rather a heart that is open to hearing which anyone can have. He goes on to say to me, that He is one with the Father and the Father is one with Him. Therefore to know Him is to know God. To help me grasp this He draws upon something with which I am very familiar, two oxen yoked together in plowing a field. I understand that oxen have a yoke placed on them by the farmer so they can pull together to accomplish the farmer's work. With love filling His eyes, He invites me to be yoked to Him so we can work together for the plowing of the Father's land. As I am thinking about that for a moment, He brings home His point by saying, "Life is easier being yoked to me than to not be so." With those words, He smiles broadly at me and I realize that to be yoked to Him means to be in love with Him as He is in love with me. Why would I chose anything else? I say yes to His invitation.

There is nothing more to say.

    With love,
    Bob

  23. THE WAY OF THE CROSS

Yesterday I posted my disappointment in seeing less and less observance of Good Friday by the Church over the years. Today, let me speak of something positive I have seen over that time, the use of the Stations of the Cross in Protestant churches. The Stations, anchored well in Catholicism, is a wonderful spiritual discipline to be practiced during Holy Week. It enables the believer to slowly walk the Via Dolorosa (Way of Suffering) that Jesus walked and to experience more fully Jesus’ sorrow on that Friday. Pope John Paul II made some revisions to the Stations which allowed for the Protestant churches to be more comfortable with the practice. Both versions are worthy of following.

I would encourage you to spend time with the Stations of the Cross, especially if there are no Good Friday services that you are able to attend. Where I am presently in TN, the churches have come together to provide a walk through the town with the Stations along the way. Very creative that promotes unity at the same time. Something I have used very effectively many times is going online to find a Stations experience that provides scripture, commentary, and art work for each station. I have taken my laptop to a private space and sat for a length of time in contemplation of the Stations.

Again brothers & sisters in Christ, I encourage you not to take a detour around the cross to find an easier path to Easter for it is more so on the cross than the empty tomb that He shows the magnitude of His Love for us. Be blessed! With love, Bob

    1. Amen Bob! Thank you for this great advice to contemplate on the Stations of the cross. I remember doing it about 10 years ago with the school I went to. But unfortunately I was bored during the service because I was not a believer at that time. It's not too late to do it seriously now, thanks for sharing this.

And yes, let us not forget that we must go through Friday and Saturday in order to get to the Resurrection on Sunday.

      God bless you!

      Blessings from France

    3. So true Bob. My Mom and I were attending the Stations of the Cross virtually this Friday and it just brought us right into the Passion and His suffering and His love for us. We talked a lot about it afterwards. It is an important part of Holy Week. I am going to be singing in the Choir at all services, and I hope I will glorify God. This Holy Thursday I'll be the only choir member present so He will sing with me. May we all seek and find His special message to each of us and see His guiding Hand in our lives. I always pray: Make me a better person. I just want to give Him glory by my words and deeds. I know sometimes, I try to get everything on my list done and forget the most important thing which is pleasing Him and staying in His presence. But He knows I'm trying.

    4. Ahhhhhh! BOB, You bring back childhood memories of my Family's Annual Good Friday walking pilgrimage to 14 different churches to say and contemplate a different station of the cross at each church. Also, memories of kissing the feet of a replica of Jesus on The Cross, in Thanksgiving for the walk His Feet took for me. After 3 pm, we would eat 9 greens cooked together without meat. As I recall, the entire day was very solemn and quiet, no tv, no playing, no toys etc. No fighting with my brothers ;)
In my so-called Adult life, prior to the pandemic, I did it on a bus ride. This year you inspired me to find a virtual service. Thanks for nudging me Bob, to not try an end run around The Quarterback this year and blame it on the Pandemic! Love You, Brie

    5. Amen Bob, nailed it again. Thank you.
The entire Holy Week is a time to truly journey with Jesus to the cross. Can we at least travel with him in thanksgiving? Holy Thursday is so moving with the washing of the apostles feet, Good Friday passion and solemnity of the day, Saturday blessing of the food and Easter Vigil-bringing others into the church, AND THE RESURRECTION EASTER SUNDAY Amen! Our entire faith is based on His resurrection, conquering sin and redemption for all. These traditions bring me closer, and renews my faith and relationship with God. In reading The Secret of Intercessory Prayer, because of this JC Family of Mighty Prayer Warriors, I came to know through experience, the truth in the statement: The body of Christ works properly with members praying for each other! Prayer is the immunity system of the body of Christ. Through prayer, we fight off the invasive forces that seek to dis-ease and afflict the body of Christ.
Please know I thank God that I am blessed to know and feel your love for Him, and for one another, as I pray to Him for you and yours. Blessings now and forevermore from His vast abundant store. I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

  27. HOLY TUESDAY:
JESUS TEACHES IN THE TEMPLE FOR THE LAST TIME (Matt 21:23-23:39).
GOD SENDS THE INVITATION TO ENJOY HIS SACRIFICE.

Loving Father, We give thanks for this privileged time where we are called to draw near to Jesus. May we experience this Holy week by entering more and more into Your logic of Love and self-giving. Help us during this time to come out of ourselves and reach out to the outskirts of existence, helping our brothers and sisters as Christ instructs us to. For some of our love ones and others who have not yet received Your gift of salvation, may this be the time for them to make the decision and follow You all the way. Nothing is impossible for You Lord.

This message of the cross may be hard for them to understand, they may ask, how can death give way to life or how can our weaknesses become strength? Your Word carries the answers. The work on the cross is FININSHED! Reveal to them that Jesus being God, took on human flesh and suffered the most humiliating death so that they may have life and have it more abundantly, and walked in the way He taught, so that they too can be in eternity with Him. Nothing is impossible for You.
I thank You and ask this in the name of Jesus, our Savior. Amen.

    Blessings and Peace.

  35. Love Conquers All (LCA) wrote above in 2020 that they were not a crier. THIS POST was prompted by it. Like LCA, a strident non-crier would accurately describe me for nearly six decades. The result of typical male machismo, military training to be "tough", and teen years where it hid wounds and insecurities.

This past Sunday, with the approval from Emory's team, my wife and I returned to church for the first time since my diagnosis. As we greeted folks prior to worship, the pastor was finalizing some of the needed assistance for the service. He asked if I would read a scripture... cheerfully agreed, while he apologized for it being "a little lengthy." I didn't know until seated that he had selected the prodigal son parable. I quickly scanned it to be sure there weren't any challenging pronounciations... didn't want to embarrass myself on my first Sunday back!

Today's JC reading is about Trust. Trust in God, in His love for us, and His desire for us to see the world as He sees it: with love, grace, and mercy. Jesus shares this by having the prodigal not trusting that his current circumstances were "good enough." This was despite health, wealth, youth, a caring father... in short a blessed life. Yet it was insufficient in the younger son's view and with his inheritance, he left.

Since it was my first time reading scripture in 18 months, before I read the passage, I said to the congregation, "yes it's a voice from the past," and then joked that I hadn't realized the pastor had picked me to read the prodigal son! As I resolutely read through the passage, I realized in so many ways I AM THE PRODIGAL SON (arent we all?!). With a good report from the previous week, the first time back at worship, and the "coincidence" of reading this parable, I was overwhelmed.

With the emotion building quickly, and peaking as I haltingly choked through the Father literally running to the son, I stopped. It was evident that continuing simply wasn't possible... so, asked my wife to come up and finish, which she graciously did. In this journey of life, we must come to TRUST. When we do so, we can't help but be humbled and appreciate Jesus on the cross, and God’s love, grace, and mercy. Amen.

    4. Dear MadFox, Thanks for opening your beautiful heart to us and sharing your experience up at the pulpit. What a wonderful thing it must have been to finally return to your Church with a good report and be asked to do one of the readings. The fact that you were given this reading is quite remarkable but we know God had prepared this for you. Your heart was welling up inside because you were returning too but not from a sinful stretch of time but from a time of medical treatment for your condition. Your strong faith in the Lord always remained steadfast and true. Although the circumstances that separated you from your Church differed from the reasons the prodigal son left his father, you and the prodigal son were both received with joy and love. Whenever we return to our loving Father, He receives us with love and rejoicing. What a blessing to be loved with an unconditional and everlasting love!

  43. JC today: "Before you arise from your bed in the morning, I have already arranged the events of your day." Yesterday, I had a very busy morning with work and over lunch, led a zoom meeting. Mid-morning, I had texted a friend's wife and asked if I could come sit in the afternoon at the hospital in relief to allow her a break. She agreed.

So, after my meeting, I headed to the hospital. While there a doc explained details of his cancer procedure to my friend. I was able to share about getting peace with cancer only by faith with both. Crazily, a longtime friend from my military days and who has been battling cancer for 13 years had been called yesterday to come talk to the Oncologist regarding the same situation today.

Due to my presence earlier, last night, I was able to tell his wife what might be coming up... coincidence?! Ha, not! He amazed me in His timing and the way that the day played out. Please pray for both of these friends for the best possible outcomes and for God's right hand to be extending peace. Thank you. Amen.

"do not rely on your own insight or understanding." Sounds a bit like blind faith?
True faith, faith in our Lord Jesus Christ is never blind. Though we can't see one second from now, He does. He sees every moment of all our days for each one. He knows the way we should go, even if to us it seems He's leading us down a dead end. (I know that one!).
In the scriptures, how many times do we read of impossible situations; then suddenly He opened a way. Classic example is the Red Sea crossing on DRY land, not even getting feet wet!

    1. Amen dear Anonymous. He wants you to lay your heavy burdens on Him so He can make them light.

      Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

      Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

  53. We do not strengthen ourselves in the LORD until we give up all dependence on everything else, and we are forced to depend upon Him alone. As long as we trust in other things, nothing but disappointment will come upon us. Yet, for many people the thought of waiting upon God alone seems one of the most precarious things we can do in our day. Is there not a natural tendency to reach out for something in addition to depending upon God? Is it not until everything else fails that I puts his trust in God alone? Help to come to you Lord first, forgive me for going where God didnt send me ?

    1. So much truth dear Min Ahadi. Thank you for sharing it. Amen! Hope you and your family are doing well. You are always in my prayers. I am trusting God to keep me strong and healthy. And to heal my dear BIL Jack and SIL Maureen and my good cousin Larry. Praying also that He heals my friend Ron whose foot was so swollen he had to go to the ER yesterday. Putting all things and concerns into His mighty Hands to handle. He understands my heart better than anyone else. This world can’t help us like our great God can. His Words and promises are reliable. He can do all things. We trust in Him and we are helped. Hallelujah!
