Jesus Calling: September 16

I designed you to live in union with Me. This union does not negate who you are; it actually makes you more fully yourself. When you try to live independently of Me, you experience emptiness and dissatisfaction. You may gain the whole world and yet lose everything that really counts.
Find fulfillment through living close to Me, yielding to Me purposes for you. Through I may lead you along paths that feel alien to you, trust that I know what I am doing. If you follow Me wholeheartedly, you will discover facets of yourself that were previously hidden. I know you intimately--far better than you know yourself. In union with Me, you are complete. In closeness to Me, you are transformed more and more into the one I designed you to be.

Mark 8:36
English Standard Version

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?

Verse thoughts
Our fulfillment is through living close to Jesus, not living close to the world. It is not the world and Jesus. It should not be that we seek to be the greatest in the world, and then, oh yeah, I also am with Jesus. We can't serve two master.

Psalm 139:13-16
English Standard Version

13 For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.

Verse thoughts
God knows us better than we know ourselves.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18
English Standard Version

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Verse thoughts
Each day my ambition should be to deny myself and let Christ live in me. My goal is to be designed by the Lord and the Spirit will do this, but I must let him. "Lord, I surrender to you."

    6. Thank you. I have been reading for almost 3 years. I don’t know what I would do without it, on some days! I send it to my Daughter’s, friends, family members…whoever needs it. By reading this one thing, every morning, my faith is at an all-time high. Getting my head in the right place, before I start the day has been crucial to my life, and everyone around me. It has not always been so.🙏

    3. God knows ourselves even better than we know ourselves. So true and such a blessing to know that He knows our inner feelings. Things we don't share with anyone. He knows the inside instead of the the outside. I lost a good friend to cancer and she asked me to find this verse in the Bible for her: Psalm 139:13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. She had ovarian cancer and she loved Jesus. She knew He had created her. She was never afraid to go Home to Him. She passed peacefully many years ago. We are blessed that our Maker is always with us continually molding us according to His image. He sees us in a way we couldn't possibly see ourselves and with so much love.

  5. Good morning Lord, Your faithfulness, accompanied by Your Grace and mercy have ushered me into a new day. I say THANK You and may this day be one of praise and Glory Your Holy name.

This morning, I testify to the glory of God, acknowledging His repeated faithfulness to me. Last weekend I got a surprise visit by my 2 sisters from TN whom we have been estranged. As I mentioned sometime back, so was my mother and I. There had been so much family hurt and pain, but God healed and restored my communication with my mom and she is now back under my care, which I am thankful to God for. My sisters through the move of God, contacted a local family Pastor to bring them to my house because they wanted to apologize for all the wrong and love for us to move forward in peace! As you can imagine, this was a delight to my mother who has been praying for a long time, but God had His perfect plan at His appointed time. The details of how He orchestrated it is beyond me, but yet I'm just amazed at how faithful and loving He is ALL the time. I've learned to fight all my battles on my knees to win with God's help.
I have no doubt that He is also working in and through my mom to receive HIS Son as her Saviour and give Him all the Thanks. Praise to the KING of kings!
Whatever your situation is with your family, be assured that just as He did it for me, trust that He will do it for you also!

JC family. I noticed in the past few devotions (days 13, 14 and 15), the Lord's emphasis on resting in Him and living close to Him.
The Father's desires and plans for our lives are far more greater than we will ever know. This Love of God towards us, is beyond human understanding, but we are wise to receive it without trying to live independently of Him. God knows us and all He asks of us, is trust and have a close relationship with Him. As we surrender to Him, no matter what paths or circumstances He allows us to go through, we can trust that He knows exactly what He is doing. He's God after all!
That surrender and trust will allow us to be transformed into who He created us to be, so as you go about your day today, I pray that the Holy Spirit of the Living God, transform your mind, body and soul and saturate you with His perfect peace that ONLY He can provide.

Lifting ALL the heavy burdens to Jesus with trust in His power to take care of each.
Stay close to the SAVIOUR, He NEVER disappoints.

    6. Wonderful Maplewood. Praising God for bringing your sisters back to you and making things right again. God's spirit were putting repentence in their heart and hope for a future good relationship with you. What a blessing and a great reason to rejoice.
Today, I am trying to let go and let Him. Busy morning with groceries and a mirror that fell, but thankfully didn't break. God guided me to finding a strong thick cord. I replaced the rope on the inside so it will not break again. God is with me and always by my side. But in my humanity, I sometimes I jump right into my responsibilities without holding His Hand. When I acknowledge Him in even the most trivial chores, they always go much better. His Spirit leads and instructs me all the time. His presence lifts me and guides me as I do my TO DOS (Thanks Brie), Today I am surrendering to Him and giving Him my reins. I know it will be a bright and productive day to His glory.

    8. Dear Anonymous, thank you for sharing your testimony on how our Lord restored your relationship with your mom and your sisters. It gave me hope that just as He did it for you, I trust that He will do it for me also. It’s been a few years now since our son has stopped talking to us. There’s never a day that I didn’t plead with God to restore and fill my son’s heart with forgiveness. I choose to trust God that He’s working on it, even if I don’t understand why it’s taking so long. It’s His timetable not mine. Please pray with me and for me to wait patiently. 12. I was looking back at some of the posts made days before God put me on the path to sobriety. I was struck by the out pooring of support and all the words of encouragement "You got this!" "You can do it!" and relating your own experiences with me. The love and faith shared with me is amazing! I saw some posts that I must have missed in my drunken haze. I'm so glad I looked back at these. Also, seing my own desperate pleas for help was a good reminder for me too. I'm still only at the beginning of this way of life but my faith increases every day. Some days are more challenging than others. Still it's so much better than it was. Thank you all very much! Today I am praying for another man who has suffered a long time from alcoholism. Please join me in prayers for Richard that God may help him to break the cycle and find some peace through His love and power. Thank you all and God bless you.

Many have tried with Richard. Most have given up on him. He seems to fall into that "hopeless" category. Time and time again he says he wants to change but comes back to meetings drunk behaving disorderly sometimes having to be removed. It's so sad. I'm sure only a miracle by the grace of Gods will save him. Thanks for your prayers.

      I'm coming as I am
      The only way I can
      I can't forget from where I've come
And what my heart's been rescued from
Yeah when they ask me who
I owe my whole life to
      I point to You

Today Maplewood's post will have to wait for me to read it until I get into the hotel room. I'm reading in the restaurant and don't want to start crying here! I read enough to know its been a long road and its for God's glory.

As for me, I am in a season of learning that God alone suffices. Also I know I am to share what I am learning. Today, I did something interesting. After I read each line of the devotional, I repeated, "God alone suffices". For me, it added depth to what is already deep.

I pray that He continues to reveal Himself and His love and Grace to all that visit and all that are at home here.

    1. Amen, Keith. It's amazing to witness His power when we surrender ourselves and let Him work. I'm still a work in progress, learning day by day to keep God as my center. I find that He's training me in how to think, forgive, and love others as He loves me...unconditionally. It's not always easy, but so worth it in the end. All I had to do was ask! "Lord, change me, fix me, heal me" AND He did. Thank you, Father God, for Your everpresent mercy and grace. You are enough, Lord. In You, I am complete.
May You all feel His love, mercy and grace today, and know that you are a child of the Most High God. God be with you all.

  14. THOUGHTS ON INTIMACY WITH OUR LORD

When you set up a 'date' with that person you are going to meet somewhere, sometime, why do you do that? Why do they respond and want to do so as well? Is it not because of a deep love you have for each other? And in holding a deep love within for someone, that love both needs to be shared and needs to be received. So you come together to love and to be loved. It is who we are made in the divine image.

Why has God called you to this time with Him? Yes, this is His idea, not a good work on our behalf. Because like any good parent who desires to be with his/her child to share love, our Heavenly Father wants to be with you, His child to both share His love for you and receive your love for Him. It is a two way street as the 'date' with someone special mentioned above. It cannot be one sided, that is not a healthy relationship. It flows both ways. We come to our devotion time to hear and feel again God's love for us. We come to our devotion time because God needs to be loved by us. God needs? Doesn't God have everything and needs nothing? Yes, God has everything but there is one thing God does need, our love. If God is love as the scriptures affirm, God needs to love and needs to be loved. That is why God has through the Holy Spirit prompted your heart to enter into this time of devotion with Him. God needs to be loved by you (and it goes without saying, you need to be loved by God).

So how do we begin? What words should we start with? It is suggested that as we begin this time in devotion, our first response should be to say nothing; rather, to sit quietly for a few moments. In so doing, our first task is likely to cleanse our mind from the 'morning demons', yesterday's worries that seek to return to upset the moment. Sometimes this can be easily done, some times it is much more challenging, especially when we have let worries and anxieties get our attention. So begin by expelling the demons and drawing in the love of God that fills this moment. Breathing can be used effectively in this process. Begin by taking deep breaths. Breath in the oxygen God has created in the air so you can be alive, it is a gift to you because of His love for you. Breath in God's love for you. Blow out the carbon dioxide that is a byproduct of the respiratory system He created within you. It is harmful to your health. From a spiritual perspective, blow out the 'morning demons' for they are harmful to this loving encounter that you are entering into with the Lover of your soul. Spend a few moments doing this before you read anything. Two people on a 'date' may sit quietly just to enjoy the other's presence. Start by sitting quietly with our Lord, enjoying His presence and allowing Him to enjoy your presence.

Blessings upon each of you that have visited this blog today. God be with you this day and always. With love, Bob

  15. This year's felt like four seasons of winter
And you'd give anything to feel the sun
    Always reaching, always climbing
    Always second guessing the timing
But God has a plan, a purpose in this
You are His child and don't you forget

    CHORUS:
He put that hunger in your heart
He put that fire in your soul
    His love is the reason
    To keep on believing
When you feel like giving up
When you feel like giving in
    His love is the reason
    To keep on believing

If we could pull back the curtain of Heaven
We would see His hand in everything
In Every hour, every minute, every second
    He's always been in it
Don't let a shadow of a doubt take hold
Hold on to what you already know

    (CHORUS)

He's the peace in the madness
    That you can't explain
He's the hope in the heartbreak
    The rest in the suffering
He's closer than the air you breathe
From the start, to the end, to the in-between
Don't you dare doubt even for a minute
    What He started in you
    Yeah, He's gonna finish

    (CHORUS)

  16. Good Morning to my JC Family. I have been on a whirlwind since last weekend and though I've read and enjoyed, posting has become so difficult. It takes me at least 3-4 times to be able to post. Is anyone else having this problem?
Bob, your studies and sharing have encouraged me to go deeper in my 'quiet time,' and devotional time with my Father. I have my 'morning routine,' that I've had for years and it carries on throughout the day. I didn't realize how much I am constantly fellowshipping with my Father, Lord and Savior, until you became intentional about it with your studies.
Yesterday, I veered away from my 'routine,' but not in a good way. I was so tired that I let myself sleep in. For me on a weekday, this means I slept until 8:00 and I am usually up between 5:30-6. I still read, prayed with my hubby and started my day but I felt 'off' all day long and still, so tired. When I got in bed last night I thanked my Father that my sleep would be sound and I'd wake up ready to go. I pray for all of my loved ones as I drift off and in the morning, while waking up - God is who I talk to.
We are having a Family Dinner this coming Sunday to celebrate my first born's 40th birthday. My planning is intentional, focused and my goal is to bless each of our offspring and their families. Based on your studies, Bob, I see that this is also the way I start each day and I've honestly never thought about it before.
Praying that each of you have a blessed day. I will be reading throughout the day and praying intentionally.
Brie, I watched War Room recently and I love that you have one! I have post its and notes around my desk, but to have a specific room is so fun to think about.
    God Bless!

    1. Dear Norah, I once was asked if I ever miss a devotional time in the AM and if I do, do I feel guilty (it may be obvious from what church tradition this person was coming from). I responded, "No, I don't feel guilty but I did just miss a time with my best Friend. I guarantee you, I will not miss it the next day." Sometimes it is necessary to sleep in for the body is crying out rest because we have over extended our self. Sometimes it is helpful to go to bed earlier. God be with you.

    2. Norah, I too love the movie War Room and I watched again with my Mom who loved it too! Hope you have a wonderful celebration. My oldest son is almost 39 and I know you understand it is such a blessing to see how they have grown into good men of faith and integrity. My son and his wife are in Santa Monica and I just pray the air gets clean so they can breathe outside. God knows your heart and how much you love Him. He also knows when you need rest and sometimes tells you to Stay Put and rest more. I always wake up with thanksgiving on my lips, praising Him for the light I see and the new day He prepared. We are blessed to be of one accord, Sister. Have a blessed day.

  19. This is the day the Lord has made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it!

Oh Loving Heavenly Father, THANK YOU for another day to glorify Your Holy name. This time last year, I testified to Your glory for restoring my family! Thank You for my mom, siblings and family!
Satan tried to stop me today, but he failed (LOL)!! I’ve come back to say thank You again dear Lord. What good works You start in us, You always complete! Thank You! This journey called life is not easy to walk, but fixing and keeping our eyes on You, makes it smooth sailing even if the sea roar and the current is unbearable. You are an AMAZING, AWESOME, WONDERFUL GOD and FATHER! A God of Love, Peace, Unity, Restoration and so much more! A God who cares when we hurt, a God who mends the broken hearted and gives beauty for ashes, joy for mourning and a garment of Praise for the spirit of despair! That is who You are! Thank You for knowing EVERYTHING about me, thank You for designing me to live in union with You. Thank You for the amazing plans You have for the remaining of my life on this earth! Thank You for my purpose and for calling me to live dependently of You. I know that in You, there is fullness of joy and I receive that today in Jesus’ name. Amen.

    Blessings and Peace.

Amen We are so grateful for all of God's good work in us and in our lives. Grateful fir everything He is to us!!! That word: "fullness" means so much to me. To have fullness of joy and peace in Him is enough to fill my heart to bursting. I will not understand until I am face to face with Him. But I am only made complete in Him and am nothing without Him. With Him I can do all things and even more. Thank you Jesus!

  20. BACK TO THE BEACH DEVOTION:
    THE PATH LESS TAKEN
    ACTS 8: 26
As for Philip, an Angel owned by The Lord said to him, "Go over to and follow the road that leads from Jerusalem through the Gaza Desert, arriving around noon." So he did!
    MY PRAYER FOR US:
My permanent resident coastal friends always know of a local path to the best part of the beach, and when I follow it, I arrive at a prime beach location barely dotted with local people and no tourists! Following Jesus also involves a less populated ambiguous path where our steps are more hopeful than sure. But His path less taken has advantages. We get to view God's creation as wild and free. Without all the noise, clamor and clutter, we hear His Voice more easily. His path gives us quiet solitude with Him. We know our Owner is leading us. We know we are safe in His Hands. Each member of our JC Family is following His lead down a path least traveled because we choose to follow Him.
    Dear Heavenly Father God,
You lead the Only Way and Truth to Eternal Life. We choose to follow Your Path. Yes! You Lead. We follow. We Love and Rejoice in unison. Would You help me and each member of our JC Family continue following You? I ask. I pray. I thank. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

  25. Good Morning, JC Family. Praying for each of you - giving thanks for Keith's tests and great results and for yours also, Audra. I am praying for my dear friend, who I meet with a couple of times a week. She started feeling weak and sick on Tuesday and by last night was feeling a little better.
Our teaching last Sunday talked about how the world tries to erode our faith and belief in God. It's a steady, beating down of our faith. Only the Word of God can keep our minds from being eroded by the world.
Praying for my cases, the outcomes they hope to receive. Thanking you, Dear Lord, for getting rid of the constant beating of fear that hits us every day. You never change. The world does. We have to decide which 'camp' we'll fall in.
Heading to the Dentist today for a 'regular cleaning,' and have read over the last few days of my fear of the Dentist. How fun to see I've grown in that area. Today, it's "just a cleaning!" I've been praying for each of you in this dear JC Family, for your family members, friends, for the changes in life that come and the Grace in which we can accept them, without feeling beaten and knocked down. Re-reading Bob's teachings on intimacy and reminded me of the joy I receive when I greet my day with my Lord and Savior.
Love and Blessings to each of you and yours. And, I thank you for your prayers which I know are always there, dear family.

If we are fearfully (awesomely) and wonderfully made, then that makes Him an awesome and wonderful Creator
What is our response to such a beautiful image of God as our caring Creator? Verse 14 explains that the only thing to do is to praise Him! Part of praise is verbally recognizing God as the doer of these things. Because God is the addressee of this psalm, we can read it as a prayer and tag on a personal touch.Min Ahadi

  42. Psalm 139:16 "Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
This is verse had a special meaning for me today, as today is the 74th anniversary of my birth.
"Through I may lead you along paths that feel alien to you, trust that I know what I am doing. ". Many paths in my life have felt alien, many times I've been out of my depth. Many times I've said, "Lord what am I doing here, I can't find a way through, Please HELP!!"
He has never let me down, never left my side, never failed to lead me through.
Some of the most difficult and dangerous situations I've been in were my own doing. Yet He has never failed to rescue me, to lead me through safely.
Fulfillment in life IS living close to our Lord and Savior Jesus. That's where the greatest satisfaction is; in yielding to His purpose.

  44. Here is a good daily confession: Lord you've given Your angels charge over me. They keep me in all my ways. My pathway is Life and there is no death. I am a Doer of the WORD of God. I am Blessed in my deeds. I take the shield of faith and quench ALL the fiery darts of the wicked one. I am the Head and not the tail. I am Above and not beneath. God's will is for me to win every time. He always cause me to triumph. He has made me more than a conqueror! HALLELUJAH!!!

Great Love and Blessings to my Beloved JCFAMILY!!! JJ

  45. Heavenly Father, thank You and I praise You Lord always and bless Your holy name! Thank You Jesus 😊. Lord, I am so grateful for You watching over me and Elizabeth on our trip and guiding us along the way of Your path for us. I pray that we receive all that You have for us and that You will protect and lead Rabbi Schneider to do Your will in Israel during the next 5 weeks. Let the eyes, hearts, and minds of Your people be opened to receive the reality of Jesus as the Messiah and our Lord and Savior. Let Your will be done and protect him, his family, and ministry from Satan. Block all the fiery darts of the enemy from him. Come, Lord Jesus, come! Let the heavens be opened for Your return to earth! Speak Your words of life over Your creation Lord! You are the best Father ever! In Jesus name, I pray, Amen 🙏.

  51. Joining warriors dear Jeanne that you will continue to experience God's goodness, faithfulness & mercy as once again you are put through the trust test. The enemy is doing his darndest to distract you from your mission. Your prayer life continues to be a thorn at his side. His arrows are aimed at your strong faith & beliefs. The dummy is missing the facts that those are your shield against his fiery darts! Hallelujah!

  53. One more prayer request.

    Hello everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well! For the past two years, we’ve been visiting New Life Children's Home, and it’s been wonderful to see all but two of the 20 toddlers find their forever homes. The two remaining kids, who are turning 4, are still waiting for their families. Yesterday, one of them asked if I had a grandmother and explained that her friends had left to live with their "cucu" (grandmother).

Let’s keep them in our prayers, asking that God’s will be done, any delays be removed, and that they are placed in loving families soon.

    Thank you!
