Jesus Calling: September 1

Seek Me with your whole being. I desire to be found by you, and I orchestrate the events of your life with that purpose in mind. When things go well and you are blessed, you can feel Me smiling on you. When you encounter rough patches along your life journey, trust that My Light is still shining upon you. My reasons for allowing these adversities may be shrouded in mystery, but My continual Presence with you is an absolute promise. Seek Me in good times; seek Me in hard times. You will find Me watching over you all the time.

Deuteronomy 4:29
English Standard Version

But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Hebrews 10:23
English Standard Version

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Psalm 145:20
English Standard Version

The Lord preserves all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.

  1. On the journey of faith, I must confess, circumstances too often have dictated faith. Today’s reading makes clear what reality is, that faith is abundantly present and must define circumstances. This is a matter of prayer, mine and those who pray for me.

    5. Praise God with us today, JC family! Marc's knee manipulation was on Monday morning and all went well, proving the knee will bend as it should and scar tissue was broken up. This is to be followed by intense physical therapy which can be very painful. Yesterday, a friend gifted us a high end stationary bike for the home that will make timely exercise easier to stay on top of PT. Thank you Father, you know what is needed to facilitate full recovery! We are so blessed! A recently deceased friend's spouse has asked hubby to play worship songs at a memorial service in a couple of weeks. He hasn't picked up a guitar in five years, but a loaner has been found, not just any guitar, but the exact one Marc would buy if he was to have one. Last night, instead of an old movie or a crime show on TV πŸ˜‰, the volume was up on an amazing playlist of worship songs as we praised and gave thanks for these "God Openings" in our lives. May I have this victory dance anyone? Praise the Lord!

Our lives are better left to Him; I could have missed the pain but I'd have had to miss THE DANCE!

    2. Feelings are not facts. Fact is God’s word. Read it. Don’t let Satan bring you down. Satan wants to lead you into fear, anxiety and frustration - all sins. He wants you to question Him and doubt Him and make you prefer death to life. Read the Book. Confess your sins and trust in the Lord. No matter what. If you doubt read the promises of God. Don’t rely on feelings. They will fail you.

    4. Hebrews 11:1 states. "11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Today I will remember that everything I encounter I have to exercise my faith in GOD and believe even if I can't see it he is still taking care of it. I have learned when I am trying to figure it out God has already worked it out, my faith in that can be the difference between how long or how short the answer manifests. Instead of telling God about all my problems I am learning to tell my problems, concerns and hurt about my BIG GOD! HE can do anything but fail! Thank GOD for being available when I search for HIM, especially when I realize it was not HE that was lost, it was ME who walked away from HIM! IN HIS LOVE

    5. Amen, paytonfamily and God's daughter!

Unknown, faith is not the absence of doubt but the means to overcome it. Having faith in Jesus doesn't mean we won't struggle or have problems. It means that we have a Father who we can lean on to overcome our problems, who never leaves us even when we don't see or feel Him. Pray the following prayer with me.

Father God, I am often feeling overwhelmed and drained by the sheer responsibility before me. I cry out to You for my needs. Strengthen me and fill me with Your wisdom. Change me, Father God. In Jesus Holy name, I pray. Amen.
      -Samuel 22:33

Ask God to change you and how you respond/react to adversity. Your problems may still be there, but so is God, and He will strengthen you. God be with you.

  10. Today marks the 1st day of September, the 9th month of the year which also represents the fruits of God's Hoky Spirit which are: Faithfulness, Gentleness, Goodness, Joy, Kindness,, Long suffering, Love, Peace and Self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). It is also the month many Christian denominations celebrate the Feasts of the Cross. The feast commemorates the cross used in the crucifixion of Jesus.
Within the past months, the Lord has taken us through some challenges , training & countless victories, seen or unseen. As we look forward to the 122 days ahead for this year, be ready to harvest from your farm of lovely labor
to the word of God's grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified (Acts 20:32).

  18. Received this from the Henri Nouwen Society and thought of all of you; wanted to share:

    Dear Lord,

Today I thought of the words of Vincent van Gogh: “It is true there is an ebb and flow, but the sea remains the sea.” You are the sea. Although I experience many ups and downs in my emotions and often feel great shifts and changes in my inner life, you remain the same. Your sameness is not the sameness of a rock, but the sameness of a faithful lover. Out of your love I came to life, by your love I am sustained, and to your love I am always called back. There are days of sadness and days of joy; there are feelings of guilt and feelings of gratitude; there are moments of failure and moments of success; but all of them are embraced by your unwavering love. . . . O Lord, sea of love and goodness, let me not fear too much the storms and winds of my daily life, and let me know there is ebb and flow but the sea remains the sea.

    Amen

Thank you for the vastness of the sea reminding us how long, how wide, how deep, how high and how great Your Love is for us. Thanks that the sea cleanses us, and washes away all that we release. Would You help us capture the sea in our mind, embed it in our heart, meditate on the fact that Your Grace, Mercy and Forgiveness reach farther beyond the sea than anything we can fathom, and that Your Love is just as boundless? And finally God, would You help us seas the day? In Jesus' Name, I ask, I pray and I thank You. Amen.

Many can testify that they have come through great trials, hardships, pain, grief, sadness, but also joy, victory and so much more. But through it all, we are still here and saved by Your grace.

May we seek You more and more this month and trust You to carry us through the good times and the hard times. We entrust our love ones, our friends, our lives and petitions into Your loving care, because we know that whatever we trust in Your care will be forever kept in peace and harmony. We entrust our going out and coming in for this beautiful new month into your capable hand, for You are our Shepherd. We are persuaded beyond doubt that You will make our way prosperous, You will protect us, You will provide and meet our needs, you will heal us spiritually, physically and emotionally. Lead us in the way of abundance, grant us help on every side for divine breakthrough and help us triumph over every obstacle this month. As we remain under the everlasting guidance of Your Almighty power, may Heaven prosper everything concerning our affairs this month.
We pray also that no weapons or devices of the enemy fashioned against us shall ever prosper. Thank You, for every single thing You did to protect us from accidents and other tragedies the past eight months. We pray for Your continued watch over us even more this month.
Thank you, Lord, for not allowing us to be a vessels in the hands of the devil. Saturate us with Your divine grace both in the physical and spiritual realm. Lead us away from self-pity, fear, doubt and complaining, so that we can do Your will and walk in the path You have set before us. We are grateful for how far we’ve come under Your grace and commit our ways and everything that has to do with us, unto You.
We gave our ears to Your understanding and pray that in this month and beyond, no evil shall befall us, no plague shall come near our dwelling. We (and our families) shall live and not die to declare Your good works. We shall be victorious in our dealings. Save us from the gathering of all evil and cause us to see well in Your Light.
We pray for Your divine enablement this new month. May we be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all our circumstances and accept them as Your will for our lives.
May Your blessings upon us continue to come forth every morning like the dew of Heaven. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Oh God, I am joining in prayer requesting the chemo be 100% effective in eradicating the cancer cells, while leaving the side effects at a minimum for Your daughter. May she feel your healing touch as she goes through her treatment. And may the upcoming surgery be successful in its outcome.

I have backed off a bit from my daily devotionals due to life circumstances changing, but have recommitted to making and taking the time to read devotionals and read The Word. The evil one did not fool me; the road blocks were placed, and I did veer off a bit, but could always see the light...my God and Father.

Oh God, thank You for always being there with and for me! The promise of Your continual presence is an absolute delight and blessing! You know my daily struggles; thank you for carrying me on the days I cannot walk alone.

  40. “I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to His temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty” (Malachi 3:1).

Dear Father, Thank You for a new day and certainly for the blessings of entering into a brand new month! Thank You that every ending has a new beginning and we are ready to spring forth into the beauty that is Autumn, the mellower season which brings us new meaning with its beauty and grace. Summer ends, Fall arrives with its own incredible display of vibrant colors.
We watch Your awesome power as the leaves change colors, the weather gets milder (not too hot nor too cold), the leaves begin to fall from the trees, the birds leave and the start of a new school year begins.
The yellow, red and orange leaves falling, brings peace in its own way, the elegant and simplistic colors paint a marvelous picture throughout the forest, and with one look at the top of the mountainside, you see peaceful Autumn rainbow. What a beautiful season You have created.
We know that You are able to do exceedingly, abundantly and more than we could ever ask for or imagine. As we pour our hearts out to You in gratitude and raise our hands up to You in worship this first day of the month of September, may those exceeding favors, miracles, breakthroughs, manifestation and desires of our hearts locate each and every one of us and our families. We aspire for Hope that is of You and Your blessings that is blended with our success in life.
May this new month cause us to rise above every problem that tries to stick to our destiny, as we look up to You. May we never cease to seek You in the Word so that we can become too loaded to be stranded with the issues of this world. Father, we are grateful for all seasons because they are beautiful and unique in its own way, created and designed by You. Thank You for being present with us through every Season. For it is in Jesus' name I offer this prayer. Amen.

How could anyone doubt God’s Presence in this world that has its seasons? is beyond my understanding. He allows each of us to experience the seasons so we can remember that life is a beautiful journey which starts from birth until death.
His whole cycle of it is a masterpiece. He shows us the season of Fall to help us remember to cherish this life because without the changing seasons, life would be plain. Let’s give thanks for the wonderful seasons in life. It is within the beauty of the earth in which our Father created and placed us in, that all good things happen to those who love Him.
May we look around with open eyes to the unseen and remember that though the seasons change, we have an unchanging God who has designed this world just as He has designed us to experience its seasons of joy and seasons of challenges with the promise of eternal life. May we cherish the golden heart that is sure to be seen within God's beautiful earth and celebrate the hope of this new month, with hearts full of gratitude and thanks to the ONE who put it all together.

“Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jer. 29:13).

“Winter is an etching, Spring a watercolor, Summer an oil painting and AUTUMN a mosaic of them all.” S. Horowitz.

  52. Thank you for your prayers for Marion and Florian. They are in God's Hands and I pray He will grant them smooth and complete recoveries. Today is my dear grandson Nathaniel's 2nd Birthday. But it is bittersweet. My Mom saw the Neurologist yesterday because of her double vision in her left eye, pain in her skull, and weak left leg. The ER and all their tests showed no reason for her symptoms but this good doctor tested her in many ways and ordered new labs. He believes she has an aneurism and also may have had a stroke. Her left eye is drooping and closing, and also her left side is weak and she has such pain in her head. He ordered an MRI at 2:30 today. My good brother Tommy is taking her so we can celebrate Nathaniel's Birthday. I am upset I can't be with my Mom but I believe God is holding her very tight and everything will be alright. Trying not to lean on my own understanding. I will drive to my Mom's tomorrow morning and stay till Monday morning. Praying my Mom is going to be okay. God is in control so I'm trusting in His guidance and His healing and His faithfulness. Thank you so much for your prayers. I know God hears every one. Resting in Him because He is so much greater. May He answer all our prayers, heal all our weaknesses and our loved ones, and comfort our worried hearts. His peace does not depend on circumstances. Holding tight onto His unchanging Hand. Thank You Jesus.

Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

  53. And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13). Seek the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. (Isaiah 55:6). Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! (Psalm 119:2). My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? (Psalm 42:2).

  55. Jon and I will be at the condo in Galveston for the holiday weekend, but rest assured I will find blessings and signs from Him everywhere. Like Brie, I am a water rat and find comfort anywhere near water. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers, as always. Peace.
