Jesus Calling: November 12

This is a time of abundance in your life. Your cup runneth over with blessings. After plodding uphill for many weeks, you are now traipsing through lush meadows drenched in warm sunshine. I want you to enjoy to the full this time of ease and refreshment. I delight in providing it for you.
Sometimes My children hesitate to receive My good gifts with open hands. Feelings of false guilt creep in, telling them they don't deserve to be so richly blessed. This is nonsense-thinking, because no one deserves anything from Me. My kingdom is not about earning and deserving: it's about believing and receiving.
When a child of Mine balks at accepting My gifts, I am deeply grieved. When you receive My abundant blessings with a grateful heart, I rejoice. My pleasure is giving and your pleasure is receiving flow together in joyous harmony.

Psalm 23:5
King James Version
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

John 3:16
English Standard Version
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Luke 11:9-10
English Standard Version
9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Romans 8:32
English Standard Version
He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

My Prayer (2022)
Lord, I admit sometimes struggling with allowing myself to rest in your goodness and providence. It is important though to praise You and also to be reminded of how good you are to me and simply to rest in that. I need it. I get pummeled daily it feels with doing more - solving problems better at work - even the feeling that church is often about how I should be a better version of me to my community and church and to You. Thank you for reminding me of Your great love for me. For wanting to spend eternity with me. For wanting to give me gifts. For giving me abundant life, even now. For creating me, seeing what I do, and yet still wanting me. My cup does run over.

  1. I do not feel like I am in a time of abundance and in fact, feel that I am in just the opposite... in my lack of apparent abundance and self-pity, I wallow for a short time and then realize, that my plight is nothing compared to what Jesus suffered. And then I reflect further and understand that I am an American with so many freedoms and a standard of living that is the desire of so many people across the globe. God has blessed me because "my cup runneth over". So, I pray that I, and all of us, realize how blessed we are each hour in each day in the USA.

    2. We all so often, have the bad habit of looking at what we want instead of looking at all that God has blessed us with. Instead of living in a world of self pity, let us rise above that and always give thanks to God for that which he provides.
I also agree that we do live in a country where we are free to practice our belief in God. It saddens me to see how this world around us continues to move further away from God into sin and evil. It hurts to hear how christians around the world are being persecuted for their faith in God.

    3. Amen, there are so many people who do not know how blessed they are to live in our Country. A country dotted with Churches throughout our land. A Country that has been a strong Allie to Israel and a Country God has blessed very much. Pray for our leaders. Thank you!!

    8. Thank you Madfox, Just what we need to read as we start an uncertain long cold winter. We are already blessed. Let's start looking at the blessings we have instead of complaining that this Pandemic is going on way too long and we miss our loved ones. We are still loved by them and we are able to move and have our being in Him who loves. Our basic needs are somehow being provided and we have a sound mind to see the truth that God has never left us and is still guiding us each day. We have a heart that can feel joy and love and even when we are depressed or worried, we have the blessed assurance that God is wholly aware of exactly how each of us feels and He cares. Thanking God for this brand new day. I will do my best to produce some good fruit for Him and also to lift someone who needs lifting.

    9. I'm claiming your prayer this morning Jeanne. We all meed to lift others up. I own a coffee stand and we write encouraging sayings on our lids. "Lift others up" is one of those sayings. May we all be encouraging and share our hope with those around us, especially during this pandemic. Love to all my JC family. Mindy

    12. MadFox I challenge you to look at it another way. Perhaps we as Americans are not the ones who are blessed. We consider being blessed because we have better earthly possessions than other countries? Have we consider the person who is homeless starving here in America blessed? I actually see the opposite. The Bible speaks clearly that we are to suffer in order to be blessed. In fact Peter speaks so passionate about it(1 Peter 4:12-19) Jesus himself spoke about it(…blessed are those who suffer”) so I challenge you to think of it this way. Those believers who are suffering in other countries who have far less then us “Americans” are actually the ones who are more blessed then us. We consider being blessed because we have nice clothes plenty of food and nice homes. We have freedom given to us by man. We consider being blessed because we do not suffer. Isn’t that contradiction to what it means to suffer with christ? Sure we are not hunted down because of our faith and sure we have the freedom to do as we please within the law but isn’t that all temporary? Isn’t this life temporary? Now, I’m not saying let’s pack up and move to a 3rd world country give up what we have here so we can suffer what I’m saying is let’s not get caught up in what we have as being blessed and consider those who do not have much as less fortunate. God has a purpose for each of our existence and a specific purpose to why we are where we are. It could be us with plenty should be praying the hardest.

    14. You got it PastorVincent! Being blessed includes 'The Be-Attitudes':
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land.
Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

    15. Pastor Vincent
I wholeheartedly agree. When I am in pain I feel closest to God. In fact I believe it was C. S. Lewis who said pain is God’s megaphone.
There is plenty of suffering right here in the USA and I see many of my rights slipping away. I will continue to seek a spiritual path through turbulent times as I face the REALITY of life in this country. I don’t always know what to do but I can keep my eye on the one who does. Thank you Lord for my many blessings and I see those who have less and pray for them as well.

    16. Pastor Vincent. As Peter wrote, the beatitudes are where Jesus tells us that ALL are still in God's favor and blessed regardless of circumstance. In fact, Jesus modeled it 2 millenia ago, while being "the" blessing, at the same time, He was cursed to restore man to God. I am thankful He was willing. I'm blessed because of His personal sacrifice for all. God bless us all. Amen.

We are able to test the strength of our faith when the storm clouds surround us. He is far greater than any bad situation that comes our way. In Him I will continue to trust, and in the truthfulness of His Words, I will stake my life on.

  3. Heavenly father I do recognize every everyblessing that you have given me in my life. And again I sit at your feet and I Proclaim that I Am So Unworthy. Yet you continue to care for me. To reveal ovalle you've taken my hand and guided me back to the Mountaintop where there is light. You have fed me your word and sustain me on your bread and your living water. You have taken of me away from bondage and delivered me out of the Pharaohs hand. And even though at times I look back I never want to return to where I have been. You are rich in compassion you're rich and mercy. I often wonder how how you chose me to be plucked out of the lost sheep and to Become one of your own? I thank you every everyday for saving me. I thank you everyday for shedding your blood to cover my sins. And even today as I sit here with pain having problems with walking I understand that there is a purpose in this. I understand that whatever is going on with my body you are redirecting me back to you calling me to walk in faith calling me to be patient with this trial. So today I sit in patients waiting on you. Knowing that every purpose you have in my life serves you. Glorifies you. And as a servant of yours I will go wherever wherever you lead me. I thank you for the abundance whoever already given me and I also thank you for the trials that have been placed before me to strengthen me to teach me and to Humble me. In Jesus name amen

Mary OKC, I know, too, having been through a health crisis, that attitude is so important... your "have decisions" words regarding your battle with cancer are so true. You do have options, thankfully we live in a time that second opinions and differing views can lead to great health outcomes. Never give up, never surrender... as Jan said soar above the negative and seek His grace. Good or less good outcomes can still be ahead, but He will hold your hand. Godspeed, praying for GREAT results and healing. Amen.

  23. Loving Father, Thank You for another blessed day. A day of expectancy, a day that is promising because You are faithful. 'May Your kingdom come here in my experience, right now.' May the attitude of my heart, the perspective of my gaze, cause me to live in the abundant life You promised me, casting all fear or unbelief out. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Ephesians 3:20 “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.”

When we remember the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand, we think of who God is, what God cares about and how God does things, and when we recall the disciples’ view of life through the lens of scarcity when they said, “We only have five loaves and two fish,” we see lack of faith and trust in the God who promised to provide all of our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). If we view life through the lens of scarcity instead of abundance, we will always fear about provision for tomorrow. As humans, we sometimes forget what God did for us and what He is capable of doing in the present. We must always remember how God has provided in the past. As the disciples transitioned into the insight when Jesus said: “Put the resources in my hand and see what I can do with it,” so should we.

James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”

2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”

    Blessings and Peace.

      P.S. I LOVE JESUS' MATH!
While our eyes see lack in the earthly realm of 5 fish; Jesus lifts His Eyes to the Heavenly Realm, and sees, feeds and satisfies over 5000. With the same things we viewed as lack, Jesus thanked God for them, and they became more! Imagine that! Yes! I love Jesus' Math!
And my reminder to look up!

    3. Wonderful thought, twin bd sis! I find for myself, I must not define scarcity/abundance as the world views it which never has enough. I must fill my heart and soul with His truth on the matter and then I will realize my cup runs over, always has and always will. Thus, Thanksgiving is such a blessed holiday. It affirms His truth and contradicts the world's thinking. God be with you.

    5. Amen dear Maplewood. Those verses are among my favorites. His power is so beyond our understanding that He is able to grant all our prayers according to His will. His provisions are without limit. Sometimes we may wait a long time for answered prayers. And even when they are never answered we know God's reason is best. Trust in the Lord and do good. That is all He asks of us, and then we will be taken care of. He is divine and incapable of lying. Thank you Lord for your faithfulness and for our patience.
Amen dear Bob, With a cup full of His unchangeable truth and limitless blessings, it will always overflow! Giving thanks for all that He has given and for all those blessings sure to come.

  26. Thanks Jan and Norah and all who prayed for our Kyle yesterday. I now have the details. Kyle is 26 years old, very healthy lifestyle. He has been in hospital and assisted living condo for last 6 months because his name was coming up to receive a liver and bile duct donation/transplant. When I requested prayers from you, I didn't know he had 1 hour to get to hospital and in surgery because he had a donor. I was just asked to double down on prayer for Kyle, and I knew I could only double down if all of you were praying with me to the Lord our God. I knew if I quickly asked all of you for prayers, Kyle would have them.
Kyle received the kidney and bile duct transplant yesterday, and so far so good. Victory Dance time and then back on our knees for his body to continually accept the donation/ transplant.
Also requesting prayers for the donor's family in their grief, loss, and generosity. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

  31. Heavenly Father, thank You for all my benefits and blessings. I was just thinking yesterday how I am going to even survive in this world because I'm not making enough money to even pay for the room that I'm in right now. So when I first saw this message I was thinking, "what blessings am I abundantly in right now?". But then I stopped to think about it and I am rich in blessings. They are spiritual blessings -- not worldly blessings. Please forgive me for my wrong thinking. I'm sorry Lord. You do give me so much and You always make sure that I'm okay. I may not be rich in money or things of this world, but that isn't what You want for us to be "rich" in. You want us to know You and to walk with You. That is where all the "real" blessings are. To be close with You and to have Your perfect peace and Your Presence in my life is worthy so much more than all the money and things in the world. Thank You Jesus. I praise You Lord always and continually. You are the best Father ever. Help me to always rest in Your Presence and to know that You will always take the best care of me -- better than the things of this world. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

  32. I'm in a hospital with my 11 year old. He's fighting an infection in his leg that had broken 6 months ago. It's baffling to me and the doctors. I feel very heartsick at the moment. As I read jc this morning, I realize that, whether it feels like it or not, he has given us an abundance: an abundance of His presence, an abundance of His promises, an abundance of mercy and healing and faith and hope and strength. I feel weak, but He is strengthening me and my boy. Thank you Lord. I feel so tired and sad to see him go through this. I feel unworthy of His love and help, but He loves me no matter what <3 and He is helping us in ways that only He can. Even struggles are blessings in disguise because they stretch our faith and as we conquer our enemies (fear, doubt, etc), we have more fuel for the future; He brought us through A, B, C, He can bring us through D. Just ask Him and trust Him. He's already set the table for us in the presence of our enemies.

And of course, like many veterans, I deal with stuff that sometimes makes life a challenge; without my faith and prayers from other believers, I don’t know what I would do. I do know that prayer works and I’ve seen miracles happen because of it. God is good and He always shows up!
Like Norah, I was going to retire, again, but found the Lord calling me to continue to serve. I’m glad He did. I wish my wife would retire though as her job in HR has become nearly unbearable, and it spills over into our normally solid marriage. Please pray for a new season for her with new opportunities where she can serve the Lord without so much turmoil, and for peace and healing in our marriage.

  35. Thank you Jan for the prayers and sound advice! I believe that Satan is always trying to tear apart Christian marriages. It’s times like these that I’m reminded to call him out for the liar and deceiver he is, to look to the cross, trust in God’s promises and to pray more, worry less and walk boldly in faith. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Having lived and worked and travelled in many Middle Eastern countries (from Pakistan westwards), since we pulled out of Afghanistan, I have been heart-sore for the very few brothers and sisters in Christ who under His leading chose to remain. Talking about this with my Lord, He said "It is necessary that some Light remains in the darkness, My people on the ground". Would you, according to His leading also pray for them? My prayer for Christian Afghans includes prayer for their provision that the cruse of oil and measure of wheat shall not fail, that their provisions shall be multiplied as Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes in feeding the 4000 and 5000, so that they will have sufficient to share with their neighbors as a means or opportunity to share the gospel with them. A hard prayer I find to pray is for Taliban members, yet they oh so desperately also need Jesus (Isa) to be their Lord and Savior, He died and rose again for them also.

  50. Amen sweet Brie. Thanking our loving Father with you for all His blessings and receiving them with gratitude. The Greatest gift is His Son. He is our everything. But every good thing is from above, Big and small. I am grateful to be a child of God and loved unconditionally. I’m grateful for the light of Christ. It’s is the best part of me.

  51. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8). A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous. (Psalm 37:16-17).

  52. I was so glad to see Luke 11:9-10. Praying for my good mom to have an appetite for nourishing food today. God knows the situation and He is our Way Maker. May God answer your prayers dear JC Family. Trusting all will go well today because He is in charge. Asking, Seeking, Knocking. Thank You Jesus 🙏

    Luke 11:9-10
And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

  53. When we have family members and loved ones who are spiritual blind and have little understanding of what is going on, we need not keeping saying how blind they are. We need to say what we want and not what we have.
So, Father God, I say NO to the negative words. I ask forgiveness for those words. And, Father, Your words speak of choosing life or death, blessing and cursing. I WILL CHOOSE LIFE for my family. I WILL CHOOSE BLESSING for my family. I WILL CHOOSE that my family is AWAKE. I'll CHOOSE for my family that blinders are removed from them and they see the TRUTH. I thank You, Father God, that they are hearing the Truth. I thank You that ALL the plans of the enemy against my family WILL IMPLODE. I thank You for sending laborers in their path that they will hear exactly what You need them to hear and it will soften their heart. It will open their mind and it will turn them to You! In Jesus' name, I Pray and Believe, AMEN and AMEN
Again, we say what we want, not what we have. Even Job said "How forcible are right words!" I thank You, Father God, that You are FAITHFUL and You said in Your WORD that Your PROMISES are YES and AMEN!
