Jesus Calling: November 22

A thankful attitude opens windows of heaven. Spiritual blessings fall freely onto you through those openings into eternity. Moreover, as you look up with a grateful heart, you get glimpses of Glory through those windows. You cannot yet live in heaven, but you can experience foretastes of your ultimate home. Such samples of heavenly fare revive your hope. Thankfulness opens you up to these experiences, which then provide further reasons to be grateful. Thus, your path becomes an upward spiral: ever increasing in gladness.
Thankfulness is not some sort of magic formula; it is the language of Love, which enables you to communicate intimately with Me. A thankful mind-set does not entail a denial of reality with its plethora of problems. Instead, it rejoices in Me, your Savior, in the midst of trials and tribulations. I am your refuge and strength, an ever-present and well-proved help in trouble.
Habakkuk 3:17-18
English Standard Version
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

Psalm 46:1
Amplified Version
God is our refuge and strength [mighty and impenetrable],
A very present and well-proved help in trouble.

  1. Heavenly Father, I love you, praise you and am so thankful for everything that you have done for me in my life. I pray that I am thankful for each day as it comes and thankful throughout the day as you father me. Lord, please open my eyes to see and open my ears to hear to better seek your presence in my life. Help me be more thankful for the trials that you put in my life as your testing produces perseverance of my faith and gives me strength to do all things through You.

  2. Amen - all adversity can be transformed into building blocks and stepping stones toward God's will, according to Romans 8:28. And according to Jesus, the path is 'difficult' not easy, and in this life we will have difficulties...but we rejoice, because He has overcome the world.

  5. This is Susan. Thanks so much to all who have prayed for me! I have felt it! God has been so very real to me in the last few days - He has put people and information in my path as needed. Yesterday I had a biopsy (wasn't to be until next Tuesday) and the doctor was wonderful and a dear Christian woman from my church who is breast cancer survivor drove me and stayed with me through it. It happened to be my 59th birthday so she insisted on buying dinner for me to take home with me for myself and our youngest son (Husband gets formula through feeding tube). But this detail really blessed me - the radiologist that talked to me after the 3D mammogram and ultrasound exam told me he was concerned about the mass in my left breast but also about 2 lymph nodes. Well the oncologist I saw yesterday looked at all the prior scans and then did her own ultrasound examination of my lymph nodes and did not share that concern and did not even lot to biopsy my lymph nodes. Folks you prayed! Maybe God has worked a healing in response to prayer! He has just shown up in so many ways! Song lyrics, hugs, a printed devotion from a co-worker. Jesus Calling - a message yesterday from Joyce Meyer. As weird as it sounds, but for this new challenge, I know I would not be leaning on God like I am now. I am scheduled to get biopsy results December 2nd. Again thank you so much for your prayers and please praise God with me and continue to lift me up in your prayers! Susan

  6. Good Morning, Lord, what can I do for you today? That is where my heart is now after waking after 4 hours sleep and my mind reeling with all there is to do and all who need prayer. I finally got up, read more of yesterday's prayers and victories, checked bank accounts, checked lists for our daughter's visit home and the holidays.
Yesterday was so full of prayer requests that I couldn't even get them on the list. When I read last night, what you said, Suzanne R, you wrote, "enlarge our territories," I thought - 'Well, there was another prayer answered!'
I want to report that my dear sister in Christ received good news: out of 6 blood tests, 4 came back good, 1 is high and 1 is TBD. Her Dr. said that she will have a 2 hr laproscopic surgery (not yet scheduled) & if all goes well, she'll go home the same day. Will know after the pathology report whether or not it's malignant.
So, dear Prayer Warriors, here are our next prayers: surgery date, sooner rather than later and no malignancy.
Please pray for: a young woman (friend of family) who has something wrong with an ovary and her gall bladder. She went too long and has lost a lot of weight and is very week.
A young man whose Chrones Disease is out of control - will find out today when the next surgery will be (he is one of my cases and we've been working on Disability for almost 2 years).
My daughter's co-worker who is so depressed, he considered recently taking his life (he found his father's body after after he committed suicide).
My sister's friend, Vicki, who is battling brain cancer.
And, finally a young man who had a wrestling accident and is in intense pain.
I thought about MadFox's comments about sometimes Jesus didn't share details b/c it was too much and I hope I've not just fallen into this category. It's a lot to share and I don't want to burden anyone or cause fear. I have to admit, by the end of the day, I was exhausted and felt overwhelmed.
I believe your prayers yesterday, helped me get through it all with words of encouragement and I am giving all of these prayer requests to the One who can heal, sustain, and bring peace.
Listing each request reminded me how minimal my worries are...1st world problems. But, I do pray that our holidays are not side-tracked by conversations of politics or trying to convince each other who is right as our country continues to deal with impeachment hearings. They will be put on the back burner in our government for now, but there has been so much damage done and I see in my young adult children. So, I continue to pray for our President and a country that can mend their division.
I am praying for each of you and have been able to hop on here to read and pray and then later, see victories. All of you remain in my prayers.
"You cannot yet live in heaven, but you can experience foretastes of your ultimate home. Such samples of heavenly fare revive your hope. Thankfulness opens you up to these experiences, which then provide further reasons to be grateful. Thus, your path becomes an upward spiral: ever increasing in gladness."
My hope is revived and my heart is thankful.

I don't take any given day for granted becasue it is never by any power of mine that ushers me in a new day with new mercy. It is all by Your mercy love and grace, so THANK YOU. Thank You for my family, my friends, my neighbors, my job, my health, my pastors and church family, my JC family, thank You also for all those trials and for all of life's necessities that You provide for me every day! THANK YOU!

JC family, we are in the season of Thankfulness by the world's standard, but as believers and children of the most High God, EVERYDAY is a day of Thanksgiving, so let's Glorify the Lord and give Him ALL the Praise and Thanks and not just wait for 1 day of the year to express our gratitude. He deserves it all year long!
I pray that we will all find the courage to Thank Him even in the midst of disappointments, trials, any and all kinds of circumstances, today and always.
The Lord is our "refuge and strength, an ever-present and well-proved help in trouble"!

    ✝️ FROM 1 SAMUEL 17
    BOLDLY FACING ANY NEW CHALLENGE
David shouted to Goliath in reply, you come to me with a sword and a spear, but I come to you in The Name of The Lord of the armies of Heaven and of Israel, the very God whom you have defied. The whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. And Israel will learn that the Lord does not depend on weapons to fulfill His Plans because He Works without regard to human means!

    🙏 THANKSGIVING PRAYER FOR US:
Dear Heavenly Father God, Thank You for Your gifts of supernatural proportions:
    ♡I am your refuge and strength, an ever-present and well-proved help;
    ♡You can always trust in God to still be your confidence;
♡You can always be sure of this, that I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, even to the end of the world Blessings.
♡A thankful attitude opens windows of heaven.
Would You help us have the confidence in You that David had? And help us be joyfully thankful that we can defeat our enemies too? Would You continually remind us that we are more than feelings because with You we are powerful, wise, beloved children of the most high God who can do what needs to be done in life through Jesus Christ Who gives us His Strength? And know beyond doubt that You work far beyond what our human eyes can see, and everything is possible and easy for You? In Jesus' Name I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. Amen

    15. Cindy, imagine a covering like a gauzy white piece of cloth reaching down from heaven and covering you. This represents the body of Christ joined with the Holy Spirit covering you.
Years ago I was in the hospital after having surgery and there were complicatiins and they were planning to do another surgery the next day to find out what was going on. That night I had a dream where the white cloth was coming from heaven to cover me in my hospital bed. In the dream I saw to friends standing next to the bed praying over me. At the same time I could sense others praying for me also. I could hear prayers from multiple people like whispers. I didn't understand what it meant at the time, but I soon learned that the bleeding had stopped during the night. The very woman that I saw in my dream had been praying for me that very night. Later I found out that others had been praying that evening also. The day that I thought I would be having another surgery I was released from the hospital. I never found out what had been happening in my body. But I do know that the prayers of others interceding made a great difference. That we are called to hold each other up in prayer because we are one body with one head our savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

  20. More prayers requested for Kyle, the young man who had liver and bile duct transplant: 12 midnight Kyle was leaking considerable amounts of blood from 4 spots on his incision and he could not stop it. Prior to that he had a small leak, but we were told that there may be a little leakage, so there wasn’t too much of an alarm.
We called the Transplant Team and decided to get dressed and go to the emergency room before they could return our call.
Because of this situation, Kyle is back in the hospital, therefore, more prayers are appreciated. In keeping with today's devotion, in the midst of trials and tribulations, situations and circumstances, we are thankful to God for being our refuge and strength, our ever-present and well-proved help in trouble. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

  22. Dear Family, In case you missed my late night/early morning post, God is blessing my family with a new baby girl in May. This is the answer to a prayer I have been praying every since I got married. A girl in our family. My oldest son and his wife went through a really hard time trying to conceive. They have a strong faith and they prayed for God's faithfulness as I did. Halleluia for one more victory. Allie said Bryan was so happy that he cried. He praised God and thanked Him. I'm so blessed by it all, I'm crying too.

      Thank heaven for little girls

Those little eyes so helpless & appealing

  23. As we get older and life bumps into our dreams, experience tells us there will be disappointments and unexpected hardships. What life has been teaching me over the past many years, as adult children demonstrate their love, and life brings its challenges, is that indeed thankfulness and a heart of gratitude for the blessings received lead to a much more agape filled life...

I loved today's message and it hit me best with these two sentences somewhat separated but impactful if brought together: "as you look up with a grateful heart, you get glimpses of Glory through those windows (to heaven)... A thankful mind-set does not entail a denial of reality with its plethora of problems. Instead, it rejoices in Me, your Savior, in the midst of trials and tribulations."

It is ONLY through and in Him that we can see how the true love from Heaven can pierce the skies and open up our heart to loving others as He does...this is where I believe a glimpse of heaven occurs. Be blessed. Amen.

  24. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. (Romans 8:18). Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. (Colossians 3:15). Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. (Psalm 100:4). We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. (2 Thessalonians 1:3).

Heavenly Father, thank You for everything You are and everything You do. You are the best Father ever. There is no other God but You. You are God Almighty. You are the most high and there is no one above You. You are our healer and miracle worker. Hold my hand and walk with me through the day, rejoicing over You Lord and being led by the Holy Spirit. Help me to always keep You first and foremost in my heart, soul, mind, body, and life and when I am distracted from You, bring my eyes back to You. Please don't let the things of this world distract me from You and Your work. We were created to praise and honor You Lord. We were not put here to do things for ourselves or to be selfish, but to serve one another like You did when You were on earth. Let Your example be placed in our hearts and minds and help us to follow Your lead and to do Your will and walk in Your ways and not our own. Help me keep You the center of my life and to always look to You in all things. Help me to not put the things of this world above You in any way, shape, form, or other. You are the most important aspect in my life. You are my reason for being Lord. Remove this worldly mentality from me and replace it with a spiritual mentality of You and Your Presence in my life. Remind me that You are always with me -- no matter what. I praise You Lord always. Thank You Jesus. Thank You for all my benefits and blessings. Give me the mercy and grace that I need for the day and let me have a grateful heart and mind. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

  30. Prayer requested for a Christian Mom (W) and her two teenage sons (E and A), deserted by their father when still babies. 18 yr old has ADHD and suspected bi-polar. 17 yr old is off the rails and a law unto himself. The Mom over the years, has had to contest in court many times to retain her children, also to get child support from the father who also never paid any alimony. Neither of the boys respect boundaries their Mom puts in place for their own safety and well-being, mainly because their father often phones them giving them his un-christian 'advice'!
Extremely bad behavior from both boys is cyclical, currently really explosive.
Additionally their rental home is being condemned by health agencies due to mold, so they're facing eviction also.
I'm praying for a God directed breakthrough for this precious family.
