Jesus Calling: November 25

Thank Me frequently as you journey through today. This practice makes it possible to pray without ceasing, as the apostle Paul taught. If you are serious about learning to pray continually, the best approach is to thank Me in every stiuation. These thankful prayers provide a solid foundation on which you can build all your other prayers. Moreover, a grateful attitude makes it easier for you to communicate with Me.
     When your mind is occupied with thanking Me, you have no time for worrying or complaining. If you practice thankfulness consistently, negative thought patterns will gradually grow weaker and weaker. Draw near to Me with a grateful heart, and My Presence will fill you with Joy and Peace.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18
King James Version
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

James 4:8
English Standard Version
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Romans 15:13
English Standard Version
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

My Prayer
Lord, I thank you for this day. I thank you ahead of time for the experiences I will have today. Some will be tough and some may be uncomfortable for me. I may experience losses that I don't comprehend. People near to me may get hurt. Lord, through these times, help me and those around me to increase our dependence and trust in and on You. Lord, help me to be a person that gives thanks. Lord, you are the author of life. Get my focus on You. Train people everywhere to thank you for life, surrender to you, accept what you provide, and glorify you with their lives.

She sends me messages of how these words and prayers help through the day. Appreciate you and your family for your time and talent.

  6. It has come to that time in the week to lay aside all earthly striving and enter into worship (some of you already have done so). As I am preparing my heart and soul for worship, the message today puts all things within me in order so the words of Psalm 100:4 may be fulfilled - “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His Name.” It is good to have spent these moments with you. May you be richly blessed as you enter God’s presence with praise and thanksgiving.

    Please pray, JC Family, for our whole family. Many 'dynamics' at work. Pray with me that everyone stays focused on the right things - that God comes first in our thoughts and actions. Already, there is some tension.
    So thankful that our daughter arrived safely (no windshield wipers for the last half of her trip!). Let me, as the Mom of all these adult 'kids' stay focused on You, Lord and be calm.
    Let me be thankful that You have gone before us.

  20. Reading this at the end of my day and I am SO thankful for all of the prayers for my adult children and my Sister in Law, who lost her husband. You know - this is not a family I understand (even though I've been in it for 45+ years). I (still) don't 'get' them, but I respect them. It (their way) would not be the way I would respond, yet they seem ok with it. So, I'm again, giving it to you, Father. Let me be the Light; let me be what they need. Let me be the one to let it go and the calm one (not really in my DNA -so that's a stretch!).
    I have a 32 yr old daughter 'home again,' though I've seen her all of 30 mins,in 2 days; 2 sons w/kids, waiting in the wings to catch their sister (when she appears), a 39 yr old, who has said he won't attend the funeral "I barely know them, Mom," (I get where he's coming from, but then I say, "What about your Dad? Can you go for him?"). And a 75 yr old husband questioning the way we raised our kids. "I think I've failed in many ways. They just don't get it. You aren't going for the one who died - you're going for the ones living." How do I say (kindly), "Honey, they don't even know the ones living - they chose to not be a part of our (their) lives?"
    I am home from a 9 hr day, thanking God that I only have one more 9, 10, 11 hr day tomorrow doing what I do and then checking out until Monday.
    Dear Lord, let me be the woman of God I need to be for my family. Let me know when to keep my mouth shut and when to speak. Let me know when to be "FUN" and when to cut it off and go to bed so I can be the one to be up, bright, cheery, and ready to meet the family I've spend 45 yrs with and yet barely know.
    Let me be Christ to them in their time of need. Let me be the example to my adult kids of the balance between 'fun' and 'responsibility.' Let me be...let me be..., oh, please, let me be my best for You, which will be the best for them.
    Love you, JC Family! You are in my prayers as I know I'm in yours.
    Sigh.

  22. PREPARING FOR ADVENT

    Revelation, the story of the final judgment to bring full restoration to everything that is God’s which is everything. The LORD begins the Divine Correction by walking among His chosen ones, in this case, the churches of Asia Minor. The final stop: Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-22)

    The most scathing of all the letters to the churches in Asia Minor and probably the most often quoted. Laodicea was a very wealthy, industrious city in the province of Phyrgia in the Lycos Valley. Apparently, the church had become filled with the pride of the city that such prosperity brings. Pride is the worst of the seven deadly sins because it leads to total self-reliance and a sense of self-righteousness. The worst part of pride is it surrounds the soul with religious practices that dupe the soul into thinking all is well. Jesus says this is the worse condition of all, calling it lukewarm, which He finds totally detesting. Reason being is that it is the condition least likely to repent. The church is filled with wealth, with arrogance and with complacency causing Jesus to be on the outside looking in. But all is not lost for Jesus still seeks fellowship with the church thus the harsh words about the church’s spiritual condition, harsh words spoken out of love. He seeks repentance and for anyone who does (the implication is only a few will), they will be received into the eternal presence of the Father while those who do not, will find themselves outside knocking at the door of eternal life.

    Questions to be asking myself this Advent season; to what extent do I live in a culture similar to that of Laodicea?, if so, to what degree has my faith acquiesced to the spirit of the culture?, as this invisible enemy, the virus, has attacked my lifestyle is my hope for things to return to the way they were or to the way they should be? The letter to the church of Laodicea is the most sobering of the seven letters. Is it the message I am most in need of hearing? If I say ‘yes’ I am hearing His love for me contained within them. If the message does not apply to me, I have become filled with self-deceived hypocrisy. Advent, a time to open the door and invite Him to enter in and tell me what I most need to hear about myself.

    Amidst all the preparations for Thanksgiving day, as our JC reading admonishes us, let us do everything with thanksgiving. Anything less would make a mockery of the holiday. God be with you. With love, Bob

      I don't like lukewarm soup, so I understand our Lord's disdain for lukewarm. Help me Lord, You know I don't want to be regurgitated!

    5. I pray to move past lukewarm, at the same time a bit cautious of what being on fire for Jesus would look like in my daily life. In thanks for God's will, amen!

    LOOKING AT THE WHOLE PICTURE
    Fix all your thoughts to focus on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine good things in other people. Think about all you can praise and thank God for and be glad about.  Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and all you saw me doing, and then THE GOD OF PEACE WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU!  How grateful I am and how I praise and thank The Lord.

    🙏 THANKSGIVING PRAYER FOR US:
    Dear Heavenly Father God, Thank You for Everything. It has been said, when we get to the end of this life, we will put our good fortunes on one side and our adversities on the other side of a balance scale and they will perfectly balance out each other. And so will every one else's.  Going through life, would You focus our mindset on the good fortunes side of the scale with gratitude for all the goodness You provide? And thank You for the good times? Would You continue helping us realize You are here with us all along the way, providing courage? And You have the Strength and Power needed to overcome, when we perceive adversity? Would You help us take an accounting of all the good things You have done for us and our dear ones so far, thanking You for each one? And know Your Goodness and Mercy are infinite?

    We know you want us to become like children. Would You remind us of the child who attended a birthday party and was served a delicious slice of cake? The child wanted a second piece but the parents would not allow the child to ask for it, saying they would leave the party and the child would be punished for disobedience when they got home. Instead of complaining or pouting in a corner, the child drew near to the provider with a grateful heart and thanked her profusely for the best piece of cake the child had ever eaten in life. The child thanked the hostess for all the time she took to make such a delicious cake and then went back to sit with Mom and Dad, who asked "Did you ask for another piece of cake?" The child replied, "No I didn't ask; I thanked."
    When the child looked up, there was the hostess bringing another piece of cake that was larger than the first slice! The child was filled with Joy. Thanks brought the child more for which to be thankful.

    Like that child, would you help us persist in Thanking You? Focusing on all the good You do for us? And letting You know how much we appreciate all Your blessings?
    In Jesus' Name I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. Amen

By the Grace of God he was saved through faith in Jesus, regained his sobriety, and painstakingly rebuilt his life such that he is more successful in his business than at any other time previously.

    After he gave me the book I realized how precious it truly is. Following his example, I began buying copies and giving them to people. [I like the version with the leatherette cover which he had given me; it's kind of a classic look]. The last time I saw him I thanked him again and told him that I had bought more copies and had given them out to seven different people. He said "I've given out about 30!" It's a wonderful thing.

    Thank You Jesus. By the end of the day, I truly had a very large bouquet.

  34. "You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God." (2 Corinthians 9:11). "But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, 'Salvation comes from the Lord.'" (Jonah 2:9). "Through Him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge His name." (Hebrews 13:15).

    Heavenly Father, thank You for all You are and all You do. I praise You Lord always. Thank You Jesus. Thank You for my salvation in You and eternal life. I need and want You in my life. I am so grateful, honored, and blessed to be Your child. As I sit here and type this, the pain in my body feels like it is sucking the life right out of me. It has been non stop since yesterday afternoon. I couldn't sleep. I can't get comfortable. I can barely walk and/or move. It hurts to even sit. Father, please place Your healing hands upon me and remove this painful affliction from me and my body. I know that only one touch from Your healing hands is all that is needed. You are the healer and miracle worker. Please grant me the healing and restoration that I desire and am asking and praying for. This pain is more than I can bear. Help me Jesus. Thank You Jesus. I know that You hear my prayers and cries and I know that You will answer me. Please take this burden of pain from me as I give it to You. I can't carry or take it any longer. Remove it from me and place it upon You Lord. Thank You Jesus. Thank You for all my benefits and blessings Lord. You are the best Father ever. Grant me a spirit of gratefulness and giving. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

  35. Dear Janet, The thought of you in so much pain makes me so sad. I pray God is relieving you of it now. I wonder if it is sciatica. Maybe you are sitting too much in your job or it could be something that a chiropractor can help you with like a pinched nerve. Praying now for you sweet sister. Trust in the Lord and He will guide you to the help you need. He knows your body very well and already is aware of your problem and what will resolve it. Trust in His mercy and faithfulness in your life and body. Father, Heal our Janet and bring her comfort. We are praying this together. We love her and she needs some relief right now. Thank You for granting our prayers in the powerful name of Christ Jesus, the Risen Lord. Amen

    Dear Janet, Here are a few verses for Thanksgiving. I pray they lift you up a bit dear sister.

    Psalm 100
    "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
    Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
    Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
    Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
    For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations."

    Psalm 107:1
    "Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever."

    Psalm 145:7
    They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

    1 Chronicles 29:11-13
    "Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power
    and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
    for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
    Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom;
    you are exalted as head over all.

    Wealth and honor come from you;
    you are the ruler of all things.
    In your hands are strength and power
    to exalt and give strength to all.

    Now, our God, we give you thanks,
    and praise your glorious name."

    Psalm 106:1- "Praise ye the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever."
    This means we should thank God every day for everything because he is merciful, good and kind. By giving thanks to Him, you will never feel far away from Him. And you cannot worry while your praising Him and thanking Him. He will make all things right. Thank You Jesus!

    It would be a tragedy to have the promise of overflowing joy and peace and not take hold to it because of a refusal to trust in God. By placing our trust in him we have the privilege of engaging in an uneven exchange. We give Him our discouragement, and he offers us overflowing joy, peace and hope.

    We do not have to live discouraged. We do not have to be perpetually stuck in a place of despair or hopelessness. We can know hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. We do not have to try and make ourselves hopeful or conjure up joy where it does not exist. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God can impart hope to us.

    It is important to note that this impartation of hope requires the power of the Holy Spirit. The third person of the Godhead makes this hope transfer possible. We experience the Holy Spirit as Christ described Him in Acts 1:4 (NIV). The Holy Spirit is a gift and He enables us to overflow with hope.

  40. Happy Thanksgiving to you, Jeanne and all of our Dear JC Family! A friend shared the poem below and I share it with you. Praying that each of you have a blessed Thanksgiving Day!
    The ABC's of Thanksgiving
    Although things are not perfect;
    Because of trail or pain;
    Continue in Thanksgiving;
    Do not begin to blame;
    Even when the times are hard;
    Fierce winds are bound to blow;
    God is forever able;
    Hold on to what you know;
    Imagine life without His love;
    Joy would cease to be;
    Keep thanking Him for all the things;
    Love imparts to thee;
    Move out of "Camp complaining";
    No weapon that is known;
    On earth can yield the power;
    Praise can do alone;
    Quit looking at the future;
    Redeem the time at hand;
    Start every day with worship;
    To "thank" is a command;
    Until we see Him coming;
    Victorious in the sky;
    We'll run the race with gratitude;
    Xalting God most high;
    Yes, there’ll be good times and yes some will be bad; but . . .
    Zion waits in glory...where none are ever sad!

Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces. Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! (Psalm 107:13-15). Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! "Is the attitude of your heart set on the Savior, or do you compare yourself to others and strive to do what appears right from a worldly perspective? God has a different grading scale. It is one of grace and infinite love. When the motivation of your heart is right, you will sense His good pleasure and blessing. Thank You Jesus. By the end of the day, I truly had a very large bouquet.

    Discovering this as a human... we often try to fill the present moment... and often miss the treasure of the present moment.

  51. Such a good devotion. I especially loved:
    When your mind is occupied with thanking Me, you have no time for worrying or complaining.
    This is so very true. If your heart and mind are full of praise and gratitude despite your circumstances, there is no room for worry or anxiety. The peace of God is reigning in your heart because you’re thanking God and staying in His presence. He will lead you through anything and never leave your sides.
    Thank You Father for this new day and all you have set before us. We know that together we can handle anything. Thank you for holding us in Your loving Hands and leading us to a fruitful day that brings you glory. Help us to be good witnesses for you and faithful servants. Keep our eyes focused on You. We love You and trust You because You are our everything. Thanks for all the joy you bring us and the comfort. Only You know our weaknesses so we ask that You strengthen them in Jesus’ Name. Amen

    Psalm 28:7
    The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.
