Jesus Calling: October 11

I am the culmination of all your hopes and desires. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last: who is and was and is to come. Before you knew Me, you expressed your longing for Me in hurtful ways. You were ever so vulnerable to the evil around you in the world. But now My Presence safely shields you, enfolding you in My loving arms. I have lifted you out of darkness into My marvelous light.
     Though I have brought many pleasures into your life, not one of them is essential. Receive My blessings with open hands. Enjoy My good gifts, but do not cling to them. Turn your attention to the Giver of all good things, and rest in the knowledge that you are complete in Me. The one thing you absolutely need is the one things you can never lose. My Presence with you.

Psalm 62:5-8
English Standard Version

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,
    for my hope is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
    my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
On God rests my salvation and my glory;
    my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
Trust in him at all times, O people;
    pour out your heart before him;
    God is a refuge for us. Selah

Revelation 1:8
English Standard Version

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

I Peter 2:9
New King James Version

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

James 1:17
English Standard Version

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

  1. Heavenly Father, thank you for Your presence in my life and all the things You do for me and all the the gifts that have come from You. I pray that I focus on You and do not cling and fill my cup with your gifts as most are temporary. Only You can fill my cup and I desire to seek you in all that I do.

    1. Amen. As I scroll through the prayer comments I was significantly touched by yours and I am in need of prayer to the point where I’ve been walking around with this thorn in my flesh countless years but I have become very thankful because the Lord God is worthy of our praises, bigger than our circumstances, the Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End. God bless you and Praise God for it’s all for His glory

  3. In today’s gospel reading (Luke 11:5-13), Jesus continues to teach His disciples (and us) about the priority of prayer. “Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened unto you.” On earth, when we ask, seek, or knock, someone is moved into responding. In heavenly terms, we are not waiting for a response for the response occurred long before we even thought about asking, seeking, or knocking. It is seen in the Jesus and completed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. In prayer, we are not moving God into action, we are turning our attention to the love of God which we already have. As scripture admonishes us, let us pray without ceasing.

    1. Prayer, keeos us with the ongoing goodness of the Lord. Like a refreshing spring of water that continues to replenish and cleanse, washing away that which has no use other than hurt to us.The good overcomes The evil everytime with Christ.
      The ongoing dialogue completes us and indeed frees us from lesser things. Thank you Lord for our beautiful language of prayer that regardless of our words uttered your Holy spirit translates to you from us. How perfect is the Fathers love? We will never know just how perfect, but in our terms overwhelmingly The most perfect that we will ever witness. I praise you for your perfect Love Lord it is above and beyond my understanding! I love that I am hemmed in on all sides with the perfect protection that comes from this love. This love that gave us your all, your precious Jesus. There is nothing greater than your love for you are Love. This love recreates more love and continues as the giving becomes the getting as we are filled with contentedness which becomes praise and thankfulness which translates to worship which solidifies our faith. This love process is perfect in Christ and so far reaching it can never be claimed by anyone as its creator but God!
      Thank you Father your brilliance is brighter than any light I will ever see for you are The light.
      I praise you Lord.

  7. Singing God's praises for Patty's perfect health! What a blessing to read. And our dear friend made it through surgery and they were getting him up to walk by afternoon.
    As for me, I can't thank all of you enough for your sweet prayers and believing. I think mine was pure exhaustion. The cough I've had kept me up the night before with so much drainage it made me sick the next morning. I ended up leaving work and coming home. Rested, prayed, slept, prayed, rested, slept...all day (actually on my knees at one point, which was a feat in itself, but I understood the need to do that) and I was able to keep my commitment last night. Then, I was home and in bed by 9:40! I listened to the Father re: various allergy-remedies and causes (feather pillows? dust?) and today our friend will give the house a good cleaning. We live by a feed mill and the variety of things flying in the air are causing a lot of the same symptoms for people.
    Reading victories of others encourages us - reminds us of how personal our Lord and Savior is.
    Today, is a new day (I always think of you, Maplewood NJ - thanking God for giving us another day). Sassy Mom - your victory thrilled me too. Praying for all of the other requests for our family members, decisions we make re: our own health (I too struggle at times with going to the Dr. and/or giving it to God - the victory is ours!). I'm thankful for Drs. and solutions that come from their expertise, but I also know my body by now and struggle with spending the money it costs when He has promised me perfect health when I believe.
    "Turn your attention to the Giver of all good things, and rest in the knowledge that you are complete in Me. The one thing you absolutely need is the one thing you can never lose. My Presence with you." This was my answer for today. Preparing our home to welcome two of my besties for the weekend. We have had 11 children between the 3 of us and we've seen each other through trials, victories and always keeping God at the center for almost 50 years. We buried our dear friend a year ago this month and know she awaits the Return and we'll see her again. It will not be a sad memory, though we will certainly remember our dear one whom we all miss. We will share our concerns about "Life" and "The World," but we all know from whom our blessings flow and that we have the victory.
    So, I ask for prayers for a wonderful visit, that my stupid allergies don't get in the way and that my home is a welcome respite as we gather and enjoy each others' company, prayers, goals and believe together for all good things for our loved ones. You, JC Family, are at the top of my list for praying specifically and seeing results. Thank you, thank you. This blog site is a daily reminder of the power of prayer. This is us:
    "James 5:16
    Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
    Have a blessed day - I will try to check in later as I often do to know how to pray. I rest in the knowledge that even if I can't, He knows and as we continue to believe for one another, the victory will come. The peace will abide in each of us. We know we are in His care.

    2. Nora, your message inspired me! Made my heart glad. It is wonderful to have close friends, as you do, to gather and share your stories with. My only true friends is the One and Only, God and Jesus Christ. My daughter's have become my friends, yet not a place to truly dive in with deep issues. My prayer is to have my husband and I to openly share dreams, laughter, goals, love, inspire one another. We marriaged 30 years now although been through many rough patches along the way. Will admit, we have become live in strangers but still hold on taught for our business, children and for our two grandsons. We have become harden when it comes to be open with our deepest feelings. It is where I love and admire our daughters relationships with their husbands. They share openly without offending one another. I pray that their lives will flourish and especially to have God in their marriage and in their life. For that my husband is not a believer and my children including iyr son, who have followed my husband ways, such as not attending church and our son had listened to my husband that the Bible is a fictional book. It hurts to know what my husband has embedded into my family. Apologize for getting off track. It is something that which is heavy on my heart. Currently, I work a full-time job that takes me await from concentrating in our business. I am overwhelmed! I am concerned about the heavy debt collection that has been a nightmare for over 15 years and now has garnished my pay. It has caused stressed in our marriage. I is need help as God has been by my side. I am ever so grateful for my God who has helped me in my life. I would not be where I am today, spirituality! Is I must go as I am needed! Thank you for listening!

    5. Dear SweetAngelGirl. Praying that God will guide your finances to a place of security and self sufficiency. My he also open the eyes of your husband and your children to see the beautiful light of Christ in you and eventually with God's help and guide them to seek Him for themselves and come to Him in repentence and a hunger to be redeemed and saved. I pray this for all of our loved ones who do not know Jesus. Also that God will open your husband's heart and rekindle his love for you. I understand and can relate. My husband loves me dearly but he is not romantic at all. I'm a hopeless romantic so it is sometimes difficult for me. Praying also for a believer to come into your life soon and be a real friend to you. Much love.

    6. SweetAngel Girl,
      Your name makes me smile, please know you are precious and adored by our King and loved perfectly...yes! Romantic, sensitive, gentle, strong, dependable, caring, intuitive, powerful Yes! All sides of the coin you are loved! I too long for a different kind of love from many, yet God can satisfy All our needs... so they point me to Him. He nods in agreement " yes you are not being properly loved here on earth" He agrees, our humanly version is flawed by sin, inescapable. My needs unmet are then turned over to "He" who delivers every time, coating the failings of others with His grace and in turn giving my eyes a new layer of understanding. Directing me how to love them more. Unthinkable sometimes, but it always works as the Lord reveals those vulnerabilities that I have incorrectly categorized. My need for romance comes unexpectedly and often clumsily and I recieve it. "God can do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can imagine" I am witnessing a marriage changing a blossom is emerging. I will be praying for you and all the marriages on this sight to be reborn into our true hearts desire. To be content in what we recieve and view it all as the love we need, every piece of it building us to who we are intended to be.
      God bless you as you continue to honor God with your love for Him and His children. God will amaze you with what He can do, I have witnessed it in my life!
      Keep praying I will be praying right along with you!

    9. Dearest Fern. How I loved your post and love your beautiful heart! You have just wrote volumes to my own heart. Praying with our JC family for Sweetangelgirl and for you. The only one who knows your need for romance and to be loved deeply here on earth, and treated in the right way, is your loving God. He knows how you yearn to be appreciated, cherished and loved. I'm glad your marriage is blossoming even if it is slow progress. Amen: God can do much more than we can ever imagine. I pray all those who are in need of sincere and complete love and appreciation put that need into the Savior's Hands. He is our Way Maker. We know we're absolutely beloved to Him, and He delights in us as we delight in Him. I pray someday my good husband will surrender himself to Jesus, and also in my heart pray my husband's heart will change and he will look at me with the same love he did when he married me 39 years ago. I am so grateful he is a good, honest and devoted husband. But I would be thrilled if he took my hand when we walk or put his arms around me while we watch tv. These little things would mean so most to me. He always says: "Delicious dinner. Thank you so much." He says I love you. He helps me with the daily chores and is always there when I need him. But I have cried because I need some real romance in my life, and a man who lifts my hand to kiss it because he cherishes me. Sappy post but true.

    2. In addition to Jehovah Rapha, finding the right chiropractor that takes time with you and knows their stuff can make all the difference in the world. 17. Loving Jesus, Thank You for a bright and cool Sunday morning to once again rejoice in Your Presence. Thank You for being eternal, consistent and permanent in Your Holiness, Wisdom, Power, and Truth and Righteousness. This is Your character and You will never change and this is Your nature that is from everlasting to everlasting. Thank You for GRACE that saved me through faith and not of myself, never of my works, but God’s gift (Ephesians 2:8-9). I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

    From the beginning to the end, Jesus has always existed and always will exist. He is the same with our eternal God the Father. This connection is found in Isaiah 44:6 which says, "I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no God." And further in Isaiah 48:12 that says:"I am he; I am the first, and I am the last."
    The Book of Revelation also identifies our Lord as "Alpha and Omega" and ends assuring us that He is the "Alpha and Omega". Jesus Christ is God incarnate. He is the “Author and Finisher” of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and this signifies that He begins it and He takes it through to completion. John 1:14 also tells us that: He is the totality, the sum and substance of the Scriptures, both of the Law and of the Gospel! Because of this truth, we have been lifted out of darkness into God’s marvelous Light’! Hallelujah to the KING!

    Dear Jesus, We thank You for being our Alpha and Omega in Your eternal nature, through Your role in creation, Your sustaining of the universe, and in Your fulfillment as the Messiah. Thank You, that One day You will make all things new (Revelation 22)! Amen.

    Sending Sunday blessings, and peace to all.

  18. Praying for each of us as I re-start my day for the second time. Allergies are here again for me too, Loveconquersall! I went back to bed, prayed, knew my hubby was praying for me too and now I am restarting this day, prepping for fellowship soon.
    My heart is heavy as our youngest son and his wife just experienced a miscarriage. They are trying for #3 and were so excited. Family Dynamics are at play again as some don't respond as compassionately as hoped for. It's gray here and I feel it in my bones with all that has happened with our house(s), of late....lots of hard work and this 'ol bod is tired.
    I loved the devo again this year, as I have for several. As always, God's Word via Jesus Calling meets the need of the moment. I am giving all of my heavy heartedness to Him Who NEVER fails, is always there and has promised to sooth and protect. I will do as encouraged, "Turn your attention to the Giver of all good things, and rest in the knowledge that you are complete in Me. The one thing you absolutely need is the one things you can never lose. My Presence with you."
    Lifting each of you, your health, great test results, protection and guidance in all things we seek from Him. He has already provided - Lord, help my unbelief. Keep me on YOUR path and I pray that I don't veer to the left or the right, but trust in You, Lord. Praying for words of wisdom for my dear Daughter in Love and my sweet son, whose heart is so loving and giving. Let them see Your Love, Father. I'm so thankful they know You. Turn my other children's eyes toward you, as well, please. Let them remember their deep roots in Your Word and Love.
    Thanks to all of you for your posts and for reminding me, Maplewood, that 'One day' He 'will make all things new.' Praying for your family, too, SweetAngelGirl and for your Nephew, Jt and your light heart, Sassy Mom. I pray all of this in the name above all names, Jesus Christ.

    4. Dear Audra, My Bible member had a clear, real and scary dream last night and I just happened to call her this morning. She said she needed to tell me about the dream and it was God's guidance telling me to call her. We talked for a long time and I told her to have an intimate talk with the Lord about the dream and do it today. I said Be not afraid, He knows your future and He cares about you.
      Audra I'm sorry you had disturbing dreams. But God knows your heart and how you feel inside. He is ever at your side and He is available. He sees your trust in Him. May He fill this day with His sweet peace and may tonight bring much sweet rest and good dreams. Amen

  20. FROM JAMES 1: When you ask Him, then be sure that you really expect Him to tell you His Answer, for a trusting mind will be as settled as a calm sea that is soothed by the breezes and every decision you make will be certain, as you move in a straightforward direction toward Him. Ask in Faith, and expect the Lord to give you His solid answer.

    BEACH DEVOTION: DRIFTWOOD
    FROM 1 Corinthians 16 Keep your eyes open for Spiritual Opportunities; stand true and connected to the Lord in faith. Act like Whose you are. Stand strong. And whatever you do, do it with Kindness and Love!

    Driftwood forms when trees are swept under and away by a sea who never returns them to shore to grow as they once did when they were well rooted and connected. Once adrift, then tiny organisms called talitrids and gribbles consume them from the inside out.  What better way for those tiny enemies to render the tree useless as a tree? This sounds similar to me when I am in a quandary of doubt and drift away from trusting You. Or maybe question is Your Way really worth it? Or maybe someone I trusted let me down?  Or I'm angry or frustrated or impatient? Or I have a new promotion or relationship or hobby that leaves little time? Whatever. God, I am asking You to keep me faithful, hopeful and loving You so I stay connected to You rather than become driftwood for talitrids and gribbles to consume me rather than You.

    MY PRAYER FOR US:
    Dear Heavenly Father God,
    Would You draw us closer to You and help us see the light and clarity You are shedding on our situation to keep us from becoming driftwood? And when we are experiencing a season of blessings, would You keep us constant in thanking You, The Generous Provider of the Gifts? When we begin to drift, would you immediately help us get back to shore for replantation while we still have roots left? Would You then renew us, repurify us, smoothe our knots, and make our Trust in You stronger than ever? Would You help us stand where we are now planted with complete confidence in You?
    In Jesus Name, I ask. I seek. I knock. I thank. Amen.

    JC: I AM THE ALPHA AND OMEGA OF ALL YOUR HOPES AND DESIRES, THE 1ST, THE LAST, WHO IS, WHO WAS, WHO IS COMING! MY PRESENCE SAFELY SHIELDS YOU, ENFOLDING YOU IN MY COMFORTING LOVING ARMS!

[Too cold in other parts of the country for the beach, too late in the day for JCers to read. Yada. Yada.] The Holy Spirit finally said your name is not Whine, it is Brie. Post it because I am God's Holy Spirit and I said so. I am sending some peeps in the room who can benefit from it, just as you did. So just do it (or else?) Not wanting to give opportunity to talitrids and gribbles to consume me from the inside out, I wholeheartedly said, Yes Lord! Yes Lord! Yes Yes Lord! Amen.
      Thanks for being two of the guideposts that once again remind me, God's Holy Spirit always was, always is and always will be right. My part is to Listen and do as He says. Amen.

Our friend was going through some gut-wrenching things with her daughter and when I asked her, "Who are your girlfriends?" she said, she didn't talk to anyone about this (small town, privacy, etc). We got together with her and have been going strong for over 7 years. I will pray for Rebecca and that she knows how much she is loved by her Heavenly Father; that she knows it's Christ in her. I'm sure she knows that to a degree if her faith is strong, but you, Jeanne, will bring that home to her everyday. As I was reading your post, I pictured you inviting her on a walk with you, if Mass doesn't work out with the care of her Dad. Praying for that whole situation!

  47. Praying for your twin, Jeanne, her DH and the time they had with Augie. I think of the doggies, kitties, bunnies, guinea pigs (Lucy & Ricky), that we have had over the years and the comfort they brought and my heart goes out to your twin (Janet? My brain is too full to remember her name, for sure. Sorry, Jeanne!). The last week and now, 2 days, has been somewhat overwhelming, but God has blessed us immensely. My "Ladies" (i.e. Monday Nt Ladies I mentioned earlier) rented a cabin in Hocking Hills and my DH encouraged me to go (more or less begged - LOL!). It was lovely - reading in the sun (while they hiked), Yoga on the hillside on Sat morn, prayer time, Hot Tub time; lots of good food time - I came home relaxed and rejuvenated, as was my DH, having spent time with 2 of our sons watching games, teachings and 'rolling their own.'. Since then, the home renovation continues - I juggle my computer(s) between upstairs and down and last night out to our Breezeway b/c our TV has suddenly decided its 8 yrs old and expired. Sigh. Then today, we received a call from the Cardiologist saying they want to do, 'one more test.' SOOO tired, but also giving it all to Him Who cares for us. We have lots of questions for the Dr tomorrow and still awaiting the Oncologist's test results.
    In times such as these, we have no choice but to, "Turn your attention to the Giver of all good things, and rest in the knowledge that you are complete in Me." Amen and amen (thank you, Peter, for pointing that out). I will head to bed tonight a thankful woman, trusting my Lord and Savior to ease us into the next steps.
    Praying for each of you - all of you - that you, too, will have sweet sleep, knowing God is on the Night Watch.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:12). 61. Praying for traveling mercies for my sister Janet and her husband David who are flying in from Missouri in the morning and all those traveling. May God surround them and all if you with a mighty hedge of protection. Thank You Father for this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
    It will be so good to see them and hug them. My Mom will be so happy to have them with her too. God is so good.

    Psalm 34:7-8
    The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
    And delivers them.
    Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
    Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
