Jesus Calling: October 25

I am God with you, for all time and throughout eternity. Don't let the familiarity of that concept numb its impact on your consciousness. My perpetual Presence with you can be a continual source of Joy, springing up and flowing out in streams of abundant Life. Let your mind reverberate with meanings of My Names: Jesus--the Lord saves, and Emmanuel--God with us.  Strive to remain conscious of My Presence even in your busiest moments. Talk with Me about whatever delights you, whatever upsets you, whatever is on your mind. These tiny steps of daily disciplines, taken one after the other, will keep you close to Me on the path of Life.

Matthew 1:21, 23
English Standard Version

21 “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
23 Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel”

Acts 2:28
English Standard Version

You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will make me full of gladness with your presence.

My Prayer
Lord, you are my Savior. You have saved me. Continually, each day, I fight sin in my life. It is present, but it is also a reminder that I need you and you have saved me. You didn't just save me, but you are with me, throughout life. Keep me near to you. Even in the busiest moments of my life, help me to know that You are near, fighting for me, cheering for me, carrying me, taking me through the struggles of life. Talk to Me and help me to talk to You so that you are the one in my life that I am speaking to daily. This is how I stay close to you by being reminded that you are close to me.

  2. These tiny steps of discipline...you and I live in times that abhor discipline. Oh, there is a plethora of resources that advise us how to be healthy in body, mind, and spirit and we even admit that we should practice those things, but we don’t because we don’t want to. We take pleasure in indulging our fleshy desires and there is a multitude of opportunities to do so. There is quite a gap between what we desire and what is good for us. In the Garden of Eden, you and I knew what was best for us and yet desire to gratify fleshy desires trumped eternal wisdom. Discipline involves bringing our desires under control and living within the parameters our Heavenly Father has established for our overall health and well-being. Discipline becomes easy when we desire to be holy as our Father in heaven is holy (Matthew 5:48). I have discovered that this admonition of Jesus is not a demand that we be holy (because as long as we are in the flesh it is an impossibility) but that we desire to be holy. For those things which we desire we are willing to discipline our self to attain. Lord, come to my assistance; make haste to help me.

I must hurry off to Church. My choirmaster doesn't want me to miss the first song. Will be back later. Wonderful devotion today and pray.
Thanks Bob, Your teaching on discipline already started my day well. We must have control over our emotions, thoughts, actions and words to follow hard after Him. Lord thank you for helping us!

    3. So true, Bob. I love the phrase make haste to help me. But I live the tension of knowing what is needed and often willfully choosing something else. I appreciate this focus on discipline and desire. May our hearts align and our wills support God’s aims for us in this day.

    6. Dear GraceTakesTime, Sometimes we are so intent in begging Him to help us, we miss the fact that He already is assisting us if we just slow down and realize it. Sometimes, I just blurt out: Oh You knew that already! He sees when His children need Him even before we ask. Let's try to be on the same page as our ever present Help and not look back or ahead. Just stay in the present with Him.

    9. Discipline is part of discipleship. I have tried to keep quiet in His Presence for a while, to let Him speak, to hear His voice, but found it very difficult to rein in my thoughts, even for a few seconds. I said,"Sorry Lord, I'm finding it difficult to keep quiet." He said," All little children chatter". I didn't expect that, and burst out laughing. I sensed He laughed too, and smiled at me. I suddenly realized what a wonderful relaxing relationship we had, that our relationship was more important than me trying to keep quiet. He doesn't need me to keep quiet, He talks over and through my thoughts, interjecting as He pleases. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is quiet delightful :)

    10. Love this share, Peter JFL! I to love it when the Lord shows my his humorous side. For me it comes in noticing the literal. Feeling blessed today for a perfect intervention in getting a ride from the stadium to our hotel last evening. While in the quay of hundreds of people waiting, I struck up a conversation with a rider who's car was approaching. You guessed it, same hotel and we jumped in with him and paid for us all upon arrival. We all got blessed!

  5. Father, thank You for the gift of life today and thank You for all You do. There is nothing about me that You don't know. May ALL my weaknesses be turned into Your strength. Thank You that Your Presence never leaves me, You are with me all the time. May I stay with You all the tome too, no matter what card life deals me.
You know every detail of my heart, my concerns, my thoughts, plans and even my anxiety, can't hide from You. I lift each one up to You. I cry out to You in my heart, from the depths of my soul, on bended knees, on stomach, standing, pacing about and all the while, You hear me, see me and attentive to my communication with You. Awesome God, I THANK YOU!
I know through faith, that the BEST is on its way. Thank You Lord.

My JC family, here's s challenge for us today via this devotion, let's stay in the habit of communicating ALL our thoughts to the Lord. He delights in our conversations with Him. His Presence gives us peace and Joy that can not be described. The bible says 'in His Presence, there is fullness of joy, at His right hand are Pleasures forevermore'! May we step out in faith today trusting only in the ONE who loves us unconditionally and can meet our every need.

Stay blessed family and Thank God You Are Forgiven! Happy Friday.

  6. "The Power of Being Thankful" devotion tied nicely with Sarah's this morning. "Father, I thank You that You have provided all of the discipline and self-control I need. Help me to renew my mind according to the truth of Your Word. I thank You that, with Your help, I can live a disciplined, overcoming life."
Hoping that you saw the results of your prayers yesterday: my friend's surgery went very well - results next week, but, "no surprises," which I count as a blessing.
The young traveling couple did well - safe and sound.
My co-worker is about to have her baby and I could tell by her calmness that, your prayers were reaching her heart as God blesses her.
My daughter will be in town this time tonight, though I may not see her until tomorrow.
For today, I will focus on prepping my home for family and friends. My husband and I are taking our little grandson on his first Field Trip. Praying for another good night's sleep tonight. What I got last night was healing and just what I needed.
Praying for each of you and yours. Dave D: praying for your retreat.

  11. JC: "I am God with you, for all time and throughout eternity"...

Since our adult kids still have not been advised nor my mother, I've only shared my situation with two Christian friends. One is not communicating much (but that isn't unusual) and that's okay, as I think some will see this diagnosis as having to think about their own mortality. The other has checked-in nearly every day via text or a call since learning several days ago... even offering to drive me to appointments.

JC friends, God is already using this illness and me for the Kingdom. Today, I saw the impact to a third, very close Christian friend in a powerful way late this afternoon. I openly "witnessed" of my solo "mountaintop" sunset encounter with God. In today's world, I was able to play the song, and he got misty-eyed, audibly gasped, and was taken aback when Tasha sang: "I can hear my Father singing over me, It's gonna be OK, it's gonna be OK". For the first time as close male "macho" friends, he told me, "I love you and it will be okay." Yes, I did in turn tell him, "I know you do and I love you!" (which is new for me with a friend).

He then said he heard this same phrasing from another Christian brother who stopped to pump gas several years ago, and had been praying about a horrible situation... a man on the other side of the car saw his anguish, walked over and said, "hey buddy, it's going to be okay" just as the tanked filled and popped the nozzle. He looked down for a second and then started to comment and no one was there. Not another car or person anywhere...

Logical conclusion? God provides what we need at just the right time, if we are in connection with Him though the Spirit, and if we are open to hearing Him. "Be still and know He is God," Brothers and Sisters. Amen.

My daughter and I each had separate encounters of the kind you described about the Christian Brother at the Gas Station. Although I could never prove who it was, I never doubted WHO IT WAS! I will always remember and cherish the moment. Thanks for sharing. As yesterday's devotion reminded us, I choose you more for your weakness. Our encounters seem to have happened in our weakest moments. Reaffiming truth to when we are weak, then He is strong!

I fact, my life, personal and professional are OUT of my control, although if we are honest, our lives never are in our control. I have come to understand over the years and especially now that I must trust in God's mercy and be like the Son through this trial. 13. Brother MadFox, with your post, my devotional thought resounds in my soul. The reading raised the question, 'Would you rather be free from suffering or free from love? To be free from suffering means you will experience less love. To suffer will bring about love.' Your post shares beautiful experiences of love you are having and why...because you are suffering. You could be free from your suffering but then there will be less experiences of true love with which you have been blessed. Imagine if God choose to avoid suffering...there would be no love in the world. Because He was willing to suffer by coming in His only begotten Son, we are loved and can show love. Suffering can bring out the best in us and others. So should I pray that this miraculously goes away for you? If I do, I also will be praying away the wonderful moments you are experiencing. Because of love for you, I indeed will pray and leave it up to God to work all things for your good with much love along the way. God be with you.

    14. Bob. Well said. Suffering, miracles, breed faith through His love, and love conquers all. Love your wisdom and you!

    15. Thank you for sharing the song, Mad 🦊! I love the lingering finish.." and guide us with you loving light." I cherish my angel stories and when I talk about my past to those that want to know me better, I always have one to share. I also can say for a fact that the discipline of checking in with JC readings and posts has increased my awareness of signs and wonders in my day to day life. My love is more genuine as I pray for all who ask and those who don't. Guide us with your loving light, thank you Jesus!

    16. Dear MadFox, I too had tears in my eyes after listening to that beautiful song. I can think of several times in my life when I knew God had sent an angel to help me or my family. He knows exactly when we need some help and He doesn't disappoint us. You are going down an uncharted road and your strength is in the Hand you hold and the faith you stand on. I will continue to pray for a miracle but like Bob said, suffering leads us to more love. God showed His complete love by sending His beloved Son to suffer and die for us so we could be freed from the bonds of sin and the misery of this world. Now we who believe are tethered to Heaven by our faith. This gift cannot be taken away by any situation, illness, catastrophe, or evil in the world. I pray that as you walk each day in His brilliant light, and the joy, peace and hope we only find in Christ, you will find your life is being enhanced beyond your expectations because you are trusting in His promises as you have never trusted before. God works in mysterious ways so we may just say: Yes Lord. Thank you. I understand and I love you.

    3. BEACH DEVOTION : FEEDING SEAGULLS
Seagulls are as integral to the beach as sand, waves, and water. Beaches with seagulls indicate tolerable weather conditions. What happens when we feed seagulls? We become surrounded by them and all their friends. Their numbers grow larger and larger as they chase us down and follow us.

Thanking God for all our Blessings is like feeding seagulls. Thankful gratitude identifies where we are in our Spiritual journey, reinforces our humanity, and  overwhelmingly increases the number of our Blessings. Each time we feed the seagulls, whether the bread crusts are large or small, when we thank God for all His Blessings on us and ours, like seagulls, His blessings, too, will increase in number. And also like seagulls, Thankfulness for Blessings cause Blessings to call out to more Blessings.

FROM PSALM 103 I bless The Holy Name of God with all my heart! Yes, I bless The Lord at all times. His praises shall forever be on my lips, remembering and thanking Him for all the Glorious things He does for me!
He forgives me! He heals me! He ransoms me! He surrounds me with His Lovingkindness and tender mercies! He fills my life with good things! He renews my youth like the eagle's! He gives justice to all! He reveals His Will!...

      MY PRAYER FOR US
      Dear Heavenly Father God,
Would You give us strength to feed all our Blessings with Thanksgiving, regardless of everything else surrounding us? Thank You for being God with us yesterday, today, and forever, and for feeding our soul with Your Good Things until it is satisfied and renewed. In Jesus' Name, I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. Amen

Thanks Brie. I just loved your comparison of sea gulls to God's blessings. So very true. Our praise and thanksgiving go up and more of God's Blessings come down! How sweet are His Words and Promises.
      The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

  13. Loving Father, Thank You for sending Jesus Your Son, who did so much more than enter our humanity. He lived among us, showed us the way to You our Father, and then paved the way through His death on the cross. Thank You for always being with us. You are Omnipresent, everywhere, all the time. Thank You for Jesus who is the mediator between us, as our Redeemer, Savior, and Friend. You looked upon this sin ravished world two thousand years ago, and saw our hopelessness and all our fail attempts to make ourselves right with You. Then You came to us, something we could never do on our own. When Christ came to this earth, He became “God with us.” Father, thank You for speaking the creation into existence, and sending Your Son to become a human being, making His home with us!! Thank You for choosing us ‘in Christ’ before the foundation of the world ans thank You for Your Presence that is ALWAYS with us. We thank and glorify You in the name of Jesus Your Son, and our Savior. Amen.

Ephesians 1:3-4 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love."

    Blessings and Peace.

  14. I've been listening to THE BLESSING and ANGELS AMONG US as I read and pray and thank God for His matchless ways to love us and protect us and give us His Peace and His Rest.
MadFox, my Brother in Christ, how I've prayed for you and will continue to do so. Yes, my dear hub received his 6th year of being clear, this last Tuesday. We go every 4 months for blood work and results. His Dr. looks at him and almost gets weepy with thankfulness. God has used my husband's situation as a beacon of hope to so many over the years. In my job as a Caseworker, I've been able to share with people that God DOES heal and restore, as promised. A woman came in my office one day in tears with her Dx in her hand and the fact that her SS Disability STILL had not been approved. She was so upset that she couldn't even pronounce Multiple Myeloma but I knew exactly what she was saying. I was able to help calm her, help her get her SSD and also attend her Family Fund Raiser that helped pay so many of her expenses. She, too, is alive today to help others. I think of the times I've chastised myself for sharing 'too much,' now I'm glad that I did, because as you said, it is another connection we have.
So many times this week, I've followed the 'nudge' to call someone and check on them. Last night, it was a call to a dear friend of 48 years who actually fed me God's Word in HS. We have stayed in touch all of these years, though not as often as we'd like due to being in different states. She has cared for her sister for over 20 years and is so tired. She said, "Isn't God amazing? To put us on your heart - again - and get to hear y our voice, well it was just what I needed." That is not said to glorify me or my actions, but to remind myself that God will tell us and when we listen, we all get blessed. Bob, your teachings have confirmed that so often lately and I thank you.
I love how God has kept you under his wing, MadFos, with sunsets and songs and prayers and spiritual blessings (which I was just reminded by Dear Maplewood). He will continue to as you go through all of those 'unknowns. He will give you the words for your family and walk with you each step of the way. I know you know this - just confirming, Brother.

Today, our family will gather again - this time to celebrate all of the October birthdays. I had a list a mile long yesterday and very little of it was completed due to be physically and mentally whipped. So, I rested. And now, today I must jump in and double time it! :) I will have some help from family but most importantly, I have God in Christ in me and will rest in that knowledge as He leads me step by step in ways to bless my family. Once again, Sarah's JC post is so appropriate!

Continued prayers for each of you precious Saints on this page. Love and Blessings to each of you.

MadFox and Norah, Things happen for a reason. It's no accident, Madfox, that you have a wonderful resource in Norah and her dear Husband. That was just one more bright spot of light in your wilderness. Rejoice and be glad! You are well taken care of.

  20. As Paul Harvey used to say, "and that's the rest of the story". In this past year, it is remarkable the "angels" who have lifted me up and.or been there physically despite the covid issues that we've all had to deal with... the rest of the story for me is that healing, suffering, and love are intertwined by the Father in surprising ways and all we need to do is keep the faith and squeeze His hand as we traverse the varied path in front of us. My healing over the past year is an amazing journey when seen in hindsight...

I'm grateful ti each of you for all the prayers here on this blog that have been said and typed over this year, and consider the JC BLOGGERs as ministering angels. With true agape for you all, thank you for such kindness and positivity in the Spirit. He will always "lift us up". Amen.

  21. Dear Brother MadFox, You are so special to our JC Family and we are so grateful that through your many challenges, you continue to share your heart, faith and thoughts with us. Praying for you is a blessing in itself. We trust the power of prayer and God's healing, mercy and faithfulness. I understand what you are saying about healing, suffering and love beein intertwined by God in surprising ways and we should just carry on and hold onto His Unchanging Hand. God allows suffering to enter our lives at different times, to test our faith and to show others how firmly we are planted on the Rock. We must be steadfast and patient in prayer and in suffering. Your amazing faith journey since your diagnosis has blessed and encouraged us. The strength of your faith in the face of your trials is an inspiration. God has been faithful to you and you have been grateful. Words of praise for Him are always on your mouth and in your heart. Your suffering has even brought you closer to Him because we who love Him sincerely seek Him when we're going through the storms because we trust His very present help. We remember His past acts of faithfulness and we know He holds our futures. Even when we don't get exactly what we pray for, He builds us up from within and pumps up the light inside of us to shine even brighter when we are enduring pain, misery or problems. People wonder why we are so cheerful even when we have many reasons to complain or worry. His peace is not from this world. So even when we are in the middle of the darkest rainstorm and can't even see the light at the end of the tunnel, we know without a doubt that we are not alon,e and His light and help are always there. He calls us to lean on our long suffering at those times and just keep our eyes on Him. I'm so proud of you dear MadFox! When I pray for you, I smile, because to me, you are such a great witness to your faith, and an encouragement to my heart. God bless and heal you always. Much love and gratitude.

    1. Jeanne, such kindness and words so sweet... I'm grateful for the assessment but hardly think that I am as strong as perhaps I portray. What I will admit to is having an attitude, or more accurately an understanding, that my medical challenges are far easier than most of the folks I encounter. Add that I'm an American (despite the current chaos) and able to afford health insurance, able to heal in a nice home, etc. etc. just makes me take pause in complaining.

Further I've been blessed with 4 decades of marriage to an awesome woman, great adult kids, and a wonderful life... far more blessings than sufferings!! God is good and whether it is months, years, or decades left here, I'm now convinced it is my "mission" to cheerfully carry on by leading or ministering to others who need to SEE faith in action. I will have setbacks both medical and spiritual, but am at peace due to the prayers of many friends covering me, my renewed faith in His undiminished mercy to His children, and a belief that He personally suffered and knows our human fears.

Your writings here reflect a gift as well. God has blessed you with much wisdom Jeanne, and I pray you will continue to bless us as I know you do to all that interact with you at home or in your community. Godspeed. Agape. And a virtual hug!

  22. Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20). Fear not; for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10). Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9).

Heavenly Father, thank You for guiding, directing, loving, and being with me always. I praise You Lord always. You are so wonderful and amazing. There is no other God but You. You are the One and Only. I surrender myself and all that I have to You Lord. I am Yours and You are mine. We are one. I give You all my burdens Lord. They are too heavy for me to carry. They weigh me down, but You lift me up with You. You know what's best for me and You always take the best care of me. Remind me that You only have my best interest at heart and that the plans You have for me are for good and not for evil. Father, I depend on You for everything, including my very next breath. I need and want You in my life. I'm nothing without You. You complete me. As long as You are with me Lord, anything is possible. Remove this worldly mentality from me and replace it with a spiritual mentality of You Lord. Remove this negative spirit from me and replace it with Your Spirit. Help me to walk in Your Spirit and not in my flesh. Open my heart, mind, and eyes to receive all that You have for me. Let me be aware of Your Presence in everything, everywhere. You are always working in and through my life. Father, You are taking me out of my comfort zone today. For the first time in my life, I will be rooming with someone other than a relative or by myself. Please guide me and protect me. I am praying that You have brought this person into my life for Your glory and Your purposes. Help me to do Your will with this situation and not my own. Give me good discernment and remind me that You are right here within me and beside me -- through it all. Thank You Jesus. You are the best Father ever! In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

It’s these tough times that draw us closer to God and help us to grow in it Faith and trust.

  28. The doctor my Mom went to yesterday was in great pain himself, because of a serious back problem. He really didn't have much time to examine her well but he listened to her heart and looked at her history and asked her about her smoking, and took her blood. Her blood pressure was 130/70. She weighs 80 pounds and she is 5 ft tall. We are going back to him on 11/17 for a followup to discuss my Mom's blood test results. We thank God for healing all my Mom's weaknesses, answering our prayers for Norah's 4 friends, Lloyd and Paula who both need healing, Paula's sister who needs strength to take care of her, Pat who must be extubated and healed, and Norah's other friend Pat who needs comfort, guidance, and answers for her legal issues, and also my Mom's good doctor who needs healing of his back problems so he can continue to help others.
Thank You Father for all this in Jesus' Name we pray. Amen

  30. Last night I had to bring two Birthday cakes, one was without sugar and the other was a chocolate mousse cake for two friends who were sharing a Birthday and also a plate of brownies to a Memorial Jam for our Jam Family member, John, who passed away from cancer. The Jam was in Mt Vernon which is about 20 minutes away. When I left my apartment the roads were slick and it was raining slightly. I got on the highway and the sky just opened up and I couldn't even see the lines of the road. It was dark and there were a lot of cars. My windshield wipers have never been great and I had a long way to go, I was frightened because I had to lean all the way forward in order to see anything. I just prayed, Jesus, Jesus and I just kept driving slowly and praying. Don't know how I got there but I did. I thanked Him!!
God was in the car with me and although it was a terrible experience to feel like I couldn't see anything, I could feel His presence and I just kept trusting in His faithfulness. He was faithful, and I told everyone at the Jam that God got me here. Thank You Jesus! When all around you seems hopeless, He is the Hope. May He rest John's beautiful soul and comfort his friends and family.

Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Psalm 34:19 - Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivers him out of them all.

James 5:11 - Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very compassionate, and of tender mercy.

Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
Could the lack of earthly hunger and thirst be because she Came to Him? God only knows, yet it gives us reason to hope.
...Jesus replied that people soon became thirsty again after drinking this earthly water. “But the water I give them,” He said, “becomes a perpetual spring within them, watering them forever with eternal life.”

On Sunday I'll be driving to Brooklyn to spend the week with my good Mom and my sister. I pray I'll be a comfort and a beacon to them. Putting everything into God’s Hands and resting in His peace. Praying for peace, comfort, guidance and strength for Beth and all our family and my JC Family. God is a well of soothing comfort and every good thing. Thank You Jesus. 🙏💗
