Jesus Calling: October 26

Come to Me when you are hurting, and I will soothe your pain. Come to Me when you are joyful, and I will share your Joy, multiplying it many times over. I am All you need, just when you need it. Your deepest desires find fulfillment in Me alone.
This is the age of self-help, Bookstores abound with books about "taking care of number one," making oneself the center of all things. The main goal of these methodologies is to become self-sufficient and confident. You however, have been called to take a "road less traveled": continual dependence on Me. True confidence comes from knowing you are complete in My Presence. Everything you need has its counterpart in Me.

John 15:5
English Standard Version

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

James 1:4
English Standard Version

And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

My Prayer
Lord, I am hurting today. Granted, it is emotional, concerned about my son and his current poor choices he is making with his life. You know about it. We've talked about it, but it hurts. It hurts to see him throwing his life away at the age of 15, with not a care in the world. Soothe my pain. Why is it I just come to you when its bad? Rarely do I come to you and celebrate victories. Yet, you are reminding me of this. You are reminding me that I need to keep coming to you. I want to be centered on you and run to you, no matter the experience and have confidence that you will take care of the problem. I do want to depend on You, not me and not even on what an author says about how I should handle this or that situation that is under your control. You are all I need. I want to believe that and live like that every moment of the day.

Update: October 26, 2017, 9:50am, Albuquerque, NM - I appreciate your prayers and standing in the gap with me. My son is 16 and still a challenge, but also a joy. His mother and I continue to commit him to the Lord, praying Ezekiel 36:26 for him daily and we are thankful for friends and many that support. We dis-enrolled him from school last month and he's doing an online public school with mostly my wife's help, as he is more accepting of her. We are praying for good people in his life, preferring people that honor God with their life. His idol of choice is Cannibas and we feel it has a big hold on him these last 2 years.  He was in substance abuse counseling for 16 months, but recently quit that since he has no desire to be sober. We understand that in life not everything works out the way we want it to, but this never changes our dependence on God and our trust and belief on Him to do the impossible and no matter the outcome, we want to continue to abide in Him. Thank you.

Update: October 26, 2019 - My son is 18 now; he graduated from high school and is working now at a local restaurant. The bottom line is I love my son and nothing will ever change this. All of us have a tendency to turn to things not named God to cope with life and the struggles and disappointments and hurts we experience - but God remains the only anchor and help and the only one that brings true peace. While it hurts for anyone to not see this truth and naturally it hurts the most for those closest to us -- my response remains the same - love people, love God, and pray that more people, including my son, will love God more than anything else and turn to Him throughout all of the turns of life. Thank you for coming alongside me in this journey.

  5. My heart goes out to you having raised four sons myself. Sometimes the only strength we have is to call on the name of Jesus. ..but that is enough! Jesus has all authority - everything must bow down to Jesus. And I pray in the name of Jesus that the strongholds over your son are broken. You keep praying and believing. While it is gut wrenching watching your child make such poor choices, you don't walk alone. I hope you have the support of friends and other family members and professional help if necessary. Lord, thank you for giving this son a mother who loves and cares for him and who has turned him over to you. Please cover this family with your love, grace & mercy. They are hurting. Please open this boy's eyes so he can see he is on the wrong road. ..that the ways of the world lead to destruction. Please put people in their path to help, comfort & strengthen them. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen and Amen.

  6. I so wish I could tell you our story about our son. I understand your pain. You would rather take the worst physical pain then to watch your child make poor choices; AND suffer the consequences of those choices. I realized through that journey, it was not just about my Son's heart; it was also about my own. Nothing can touch a parents soul like their child, not even your spouse (as much as I love my husband!). God knew I had to "lay my Landon down." This was bigger then anything I had control of! My sweet sweet sister, God is good! I can't understand why things happen; even painful things when you're trying to be the best godly parent you know how. We will always fall short. When your son continues down this path, press more into him, showing that unconditional Christs love. You may think he doesn't care but he does more then you know. Love you my friend

  7. It might take awhile but I believe he'll get over that hump... as long as you two continue to support him by being there when he needs it... he will remember what y'all do for him. Y'all never gave up on him like Jesus never gave up on us. He come back home to his Father.

Lord please make the way home clear for all of those who do not know the way. Please Father, unblock their view from you. Remove whatever is in their way that is keeping them from you. I trust you with all of these lives including my sons for they are really yours and not ours. May Gods perfect love cover their minds and hearts, allowing them to see the road to our promised land. To see it and run home to the Father. Until then we praise The Lord for the victory which will come in His perfect time, continuing to Love them with our best effort and Gods perfect help.

    8. Thank you Paytonfamily for sharing the updates. I could have been your son. Godly Mom and Dad never stopped praying for me. God answers prayer. I received a great hurt in my mid/late teens, wanted out of society. Took to dealing, travelled widely to setup supply chains, got hooked myself, was a courier/mule. Was in Africa to buy supplies when I was handed a tract 'All we like sheep have gone astray, each has turned to his own way'. That was my turning point in the early '70's. God IS Faithful, keep praying, and thank Him in faith, that your son HAS returned to Him, even if you can't actually see it yet.

  12. Chris. Appreciate the updates and I think many, if not all, can relate. One of our adult kids continues to struggle with a few issues. We, as parents, can only love them and hope that they will seek our counsel when the world or their "sinful desires" leads them away from family and faith. Sadly, social media, the press, and the secular world are strong attractions to many dangerous and destructive paths.

For me, not only do I worry about our kids over the next few decades, but I wonder where Christians will fit in this increasingly fractured nation. My goal each day is to seek "the road less traveled" with our Lord leading the way or at least holding my hand if I am led astray and need Him on the rough spots ahead.

Praying for all the needs here, from Norah to CO to zfuntastic to Maplewood and all the rest. May God be your source first when praying [and may you receive His love in all you do today. Amen.

  13. It is such a blessing to wake up refreshed, know that you have new mercy and be reminded that I can come to You with both our joy and pain. You are all I need when I need in It, Thank You Lord.

As I am urged to come to You with any and ALL pain and Joy, I commit my sisters Lily Mae and Diamond into Your sheild of protection. After 7 years of emotional and physical abuse, LilyMae has finally gained the courage through Your Spirit to leave her husband. He has caused so much pain to my family, but as it is said, Only You 'God that can show up late but still be on time'. May the Blood of Jesus protect them from any evil or retaliation from this person and return any arrow back to sender. My little sis Diamond is also being threaten by this man, but greater is HE that is in us. Thank You Lord for directing us to take the right actions and trust You. All evil plans are already DESTROYED in the name of Jesus.

Please pray with me in covering them with God's sheild of peotection and the Blood of Jesus.

This morning, I pray for each of you, blessings that surpasses your understanding, the peace and love of God, abundant blessings and favour of God. I pray psalm 91, Ephesians 1:17-23 and Epesians 3:14-22 over all of you and your families, in Jesus name.

Stay blessed and keep walking with the Lord.

    7. I was Lilly Mae 32 years ago . Took 5-7 years before I had the strength. It is a Mine blowing horrific thing that only a person inside of it could understand as it’s happening around them. I still have pain issues to this day but I have God to pray to Jesus every morning is the best thing I ever did is to get out of that situation, still go through things that try to get to the bottom of how I got in a situation to begin with. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger what we can learn we can share. Bless you and hope your family is doing well.

  21. Cannabis came up several times in today's blog. The devil can exploit things that God has created. I feel there is so much medical potential in such an active element, but unbridled and unsupervised use of the hallucinogens has derailed so many productive lives. Bottom line comes down to the poor choices people make. Our continued prayers that God will put trusted people around our loved ones to show them God's love and help them away from their poor choices.

  22. Good morning Mr Peyton and all!
I want to share something with you all that has changed my life and that will forever change your perspective on the way that God sees you, and that is through The Perfect Eyes Of Love and it is my prayer and my wish that you would share it with your son and all those that you meet just as I pray for all who read this message of eternal love that they too would share it with their loved ones and everyone they encounter, this is our Precious & Priceless Heavenly Father's and Sons intimate & personal Love Letter to you all!!! This is "their message" of eternal love to YOU!!! Yes, "YOU" the one reading this right now, "YOU" are God's masterpiece and His Precious & Priceless Treasure and He loves and adores you just as He loves His Son Jesus! His overwhelming never ending reckless love for you is beyond description, it is beyond comprehension, for His phenomenal love spills out from his heart and there's so much love that His heart cannot contain it and so it overflows from His soul to YOU, His Precious & Priceless and beloved child! His love for you is overwhelming it's never ending and it is a reckless love that chases you down fights till your found by leaving the 99. We couldn't earn it and we don't deserve it but that didn't stop our Heavenly Father from sending His One & Only Precious & Priceless and Most Loving and Beautiful Son Jesus to rescue and redeem us from the lies of the devil and from going to hell, it is because of His passionate overwhelming all consuming love for us that He took our place and died for Our Sins... Because He truly loves Us Beyond Measure, beyond description and Without End!
So if you ever doubt your Heavenly Father's Love or His Sons love for YOU, Just take a good look at the cross, He did it all for "YOU"!!! And anytime you hear any negative and condemning words its coming straight from the enemy and not from God for God speaks love and encouragement to you, and hope because God is Love and He is The Very Author of Love & Respect and He is absolutely FOR YOU and NOT AGAINST YOU, YOU'RE the VERY REASON He went to the cross, He came to Save YOU, He came to show you the way and to tell you the truth and to give you long life, eternal life, believe it!!! Everything He did and does is out of a pure heart Because He truly loves you beyond measure beyond comprehension and He wants YOU to spend eternity with Him in Heaven where everything is perfect and beautiful and glorious and devine, where there is no more pain no more tears no more suffering, just Eternal Heavenly Bliss and overwhelming ecstatic Joy, You cannot fathom or imagine or perceive what awaits you!
So please view the link below, if for some reason it does not open you can Google it by typing in a Father's Love Letter.
And my personal prayer for you all is Psalms 91 nkjv version if you don't have a Bible on hand you can Google Psalms 91 and view it through Bible gateway's website or another Christian website that you will see links for. So as God's precious and priceless and beloved children and by His authority let us go out into all the world and preach His beautiful message of love and hope and truth as we ourselves walk in love and obedience to Him as we draw ever close to His loving heart by calling upon Him and asking Him to lead us and guide by His Holy Spirit that will lead us into all truth. 23. GOD'S HOLY SPIRIT keeps nudging me to ask you, JC Family:
What would you do if a small teary eyed child brought you one of his/her favorite toys, broken?
What would you do if the broken toy resulted from that small teary eyed child's own fault?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Initial response: to show compassion for not only is the toy broken, the teary eyed child is feeling a brokenness within which is the heart of the matter. Thanks for asking, Brie.

    2. Mercy triumphs over justice. My heavenly Father would see my brokenness first & foremost as Brother Bob posted. I would hug the child & respond with compassion. Bless you Brie🥰

    3. Brie your question tugged at my heart strings.
We have a little guy that this scenerio often applies to. My desire is to offer him comfort and to try and fix it. His response frequently is to continue to cry and lash out at me in anger. When this happens my desire to help decreases. I may lay the item down and walk away until he has calmed down. Explaining to him I wanted to help, but his behavior made it impossible. On other occasions I pick him up and hold him as he continues to lash out at me. Whispering directly in his ear that I love him and I want to help him. This reminds me of what God does for us. He is the perfect Father and he knows exactly what we need. I have to admit my response isn't always so kind and loving because I'm not perfect and my tired flesh pops up with a response such as I told you not to throw it, step on it, etc.
God may give us correction if we miss handled what he has blessed us with, but he is always loving and forgiving when we bring our brokenness to him.
Lord please help me to allow you to respond through me. Speaking the words you give me as I go through this several times a day. Only through you can I be an example of your love. In Jesus name amen.

    4. Great question, Brie! Immediate response would be compassion and mercy. I would dry the child's tears, give a big warm hug and say everything will be alright. And maybe say: It's just a toy. I'm glad you didn't get broken.
But I would also instruct the child that if one doesn't take care of the things one has been given, they will break or destroy them and they will no longer have them. We also have a responsibility to take care of our bodies and minds, and also to nurture the garden of our heart, and feed our faith with God's Word every day.
Terri, I loved your sweet and gentle words of truth. We should love as God loves us: He gently whispers into our ear that He loves us and He's right here ready to dry our tears, pick us up. and hug us. Let us all do our best to be an example and extension of that soft and gentle love to all who need it.

    5. I would do much of the same with compassion. I'm also going to answer the question with another question. How do we teach how to forgive themselves? I think the answer, no surprise, is Jesus. Would this be a moment to help, fix and comfort and to teach that Jesus's does that for us all?

      Delete
    6. I dunno but since children are great imitators, I guess they can also learn forgiveness like they learn anything else; by watching us, seeing and then imitating what we do do, rather than what we say do.

  24. THOUGHTS ON INTIMACY WITH OUR LORD

I share with you my pattern of prayer in my quiet time. It is the pattern that has developed for me over the years and is still developing. I am NOT suggesting you need to follow it, I am merely sharing it for what it is worth. You should be led to have your own pattern and if you would like to share it, we will all grow from you.

    My prayer list:

I always begin by giving thanks to God for the mystical experience of falling in love and for the person with whom He called me to be in love. I give thanks to God for the sacramental experience of marriage. I pray for my wife's well being in all ways and I pray for my devotion to her well being. I use to pray for her to be more like I wanted her to be but now I have grown to pray for me to be more like she needs for me to be. In so doing, she does become more like I need her to be.

Next I pray for our children and grandchildren, their lives and wholeness. I give thanks for my parents who are now both in glory. I pray for my only sibling and his wife. These I pray for each day.

I pray for my extended family, aunt & uncle, nieces, step-siblings, cousins and children of cousins. I pray for one category each day.

I give thanks and pray for the family into which I am privileged to be joined through marriage. My wife has four siblings so I pray for one each day and all of the offspring from their marriages.

My life breaks down nicely into six phases, so I remember one phase each day with thanksgiving for God's faithfulness. I remember people that were and always will be a blessing. I give thanks for churches in each phase and the blessing it was to be a part of them. I give thanks and ask God to bless them.

Then I move into prayers for the present, people and situations I have spoken about the last two days. I pray for governmental leaders using Isaiah 11:2-3a as my prayer.

Then I have a handful of random people I pray for each day. If someone were to look at my list, they might wonder how this or that person got on my list. The answer - because I feel called to pray for each one and ask God's blessing every day. Example: I met a young woman who had joined Teen Challenge to get her life together. She told me of her relationship with her dad and of his death. I felt she needed to have a dad praying for her regularly so I have assumed that role.

Next, I visit my Facebook page to encounter people primarily from the past. Being that I am in prayer mode, I respond to their posts with words of love and affirmation toward them.

Then comes my most recent addition to my schedule, you and all the JC Family. I pray for your requests or just simply remember you and give thanks for our connection.

    I close with the Lord's Prayer/Our Father.

The end result of praying for all these people is that I have a great love for each because of the prayers. When I have gotten together with some of the distant relatives, they are amazed I know their name and the names of their children. It is because I pray for them regularly. I have fallen in love with them in praying for them; thus I know their names.

As I said, this is my own pattern that has developed over time. If the Spirit stirs you with anything I do, then thanks be to God. Be blessed!

May your week be richly blessed with God's love, grace, and mercy (a given). God be with you. With love, Bob

  36. Good morning ☀️ Just last night I talked to my son and he seemed very down. As I read above this morning about those who are also concerned about their sons it made me think even more to pray for mine. Please pray for him; his name is Joseph. He is a good kid/adult and just turned 23. He doesn’t go to college , but he works. However, he works for contractors and the jobs he has gotten recently have been seasonal. If someone would just agree with me in prayer that he will turn to God and find his hope in Him. That his spirits will be lifted and another opportunity will present itself. Also, if he is getting depressed that he will talk to us and confide in us or someone close to him to help him get through this time. That the Lord will bless him and keep him making His face shine upon him and for Him to give his angels charge over him in all his ways. Thank-you to everyone! ♥️May God bless you all! 37. Today's devotion reminds us: Come to Me when you are hurting, and I will soothe your pain. Come to Me when you are joyful, and I will share your Joy, multiplying it many times over. I am ALL you need, just when you need it. Your deepest desires find fulfillment in Me alone.
We can learn important life lessons from  creatures that live on or near beaches, including various species of Penguins. Consider both their on land abilities and their water skills. On land, penguins move slowly and sluggishly with a distinct waddle, as though "something" may be holding them back or weighing them down, or as though it is painfully difficult to walk. On land, penguins are also quite nearsighted.
In the water however, penguins easily and joyfully fly through the water, sometimes more than 20 miles per hour. Their vision is clean and clear. They transform.
We may ask, So why don't they simply remain in the water and have the joys of speed, along with the joys of keen and clear sight all the time?
The answer lies in being beached; sidelined for a season and with good reason. Though beached is a less joyful experience for penguins, beaches are key to their survival in the water. You see, penguins have rookeries on shore where they can breed, find rest and respite,  as well as feed with fewer predators.
Similarly, in our own day to day existence, we also have both seasons. Some seasons provide great vision and the ability to soar and joyfully glide through the waters. During  other seasons, we feel weighed down and reduced to waddle, sometimes painfully across spaces that appear barren. Taking a cue from our penguin friends, at these times we can ask God's Guidance to our rookeries, which could include counseling, comfort from others, rest, attending to internql matters of God's choosing. We too can transform so when it is time to joyously soar again, we will have had God's renewal and restoration, and yes, clearer vision more akin to God's.
    Dear Heavenly Father God,
When our lives are hurting during seasons thet are seemingly slow and uncertain, would You remind us that this season is necessary for our transformation?  Would You teach us how to regroup and reconnect with You? And when seasons are joyful, and we are happily gliding through, would You teach us how to regroup and reconnect with You? And through both seasons, would You transform us into thankful children who trust You through it all?
In Jesus' Name I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. I yield. Amen.

    3. Thank you sweet Brie! You do paint a lovely picture. My life has changed so much since my Grands have been born. But I love them dearly and I'm so grateful. I haven't had time to paint or work on songs I am writing. Spending time with them and helping my son and his wife who live nearby, are gifts from the Lord and I am so grateful. I'm blessed that my other two sons and their loves ones will be visiting in November and December. Something to really look forward to.
My Mom is going through a hard season. She's getting weak and stays in her pajamas most of the time and prays for so many people. She has some issues but refuses to go to a doctor. She is 93 and still smoking but only about 6 cigarettes a day. Thank God she has been double vaccinated and had her flu shot and her first shingles shot. We will get our second in November. She doesn't feel like going out except to Church. Walking is getting difficult for her but she loves Jesus and He is keeping her going. We all find ourselves in good seasons and bad seasons. God carries us through both of them. We must trust what He allows in our lives. He is honing us and giving us a chance to weather the storms in His presence. I think perhaps this place of refuge is like a rookery because we can find rest here with our dear JC Family, love, encouragement, comfort for our weary hearts and food for our souls, and much needed prayers, as we pray for each other.
Amen Brie. Joining in your prayer:
And through both seasons, would You transform us into thankful children who trust You through it all?

  41. An interesting thing happened today before I read JC. The Lord asked me to hold some pain or struggles the Woman I Love is experiencing... n to use today's word, to be a counterpart for her as He is the counterpart over all.

I have not spoken to The Woman I Love for a year but this is the text I was moved to send:

Take a breath... He has asked me to hold something or somethings in my heart. He hasn't told me what they are but knowing you, I could guess. But guessing would not be being sensitive to you. These things are things in your heart that have or are troubling you.

So just know that He has made plenty of room in my heart to carry some of these things so that you do not have to carry them alone.

What they are, I believe, can be revealed by one question; "How is your heart Carrie?"

  47. "Come to Me when you are hurting, and I will soothe your pain."
When we are hurting it's often difficult to focus on the Lord and not the pain. It's doubly painful when we have hurt ourselves for we have no one to blame but ourselves. There is no self help available. Self recriminations abound, we feel isolated, unworthy to live in His Presence.
That is a fact! We ARE unworthy to live in His Presence!
Our Heavenly Father's heart that we see through Jesus is one of love continually. His agape - self sacrificial love absolutely refuses to, in fact cannot, un-love us.
Isaiah 54:10 "For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you."

I was able to catch up with her sister last night and they are encouraged. Lloyd's Onc son came in yesterday morning and went with him to the Oncology appt. They learned that it is NOT pancreatic cancer and were ecstatic. It is a stage 3 cancer - metastatic neuroendocrine cancer. They will do more tests to determine the growth rate. He will not do chemo but receive some form of monthly treatment (a shot). The BEST news is his life expectancy is several years vs. months! AND...Baby Ezekiel made it through his surgery. I don't know any more than that, but we were def doing the HAPPY DANCE! Ezekiel means, "God's Strength." Praying for the family and that little baby boy's life.
We leave in an hour for my DH's Onc appt. I thank you for all of the prayers. Our hearts are calm. I hope to move back to my "new" office this afternoon. God is SO good.

  51. Thanking you for all of your prayers - and know that you are in mine! Have to tell you how this happened: The Oncologist walked in the room, shook both of our hands and said to my DH< "YOU look as great as your numbers!" He went on to examine him, look again at his chart and said, "We're going to kick this can down the road!" I told him that we were waiting for his famous line! We go back 11/23. For now, we just watch those numbers.
To God Be The Glory! Love you, Dear JC Family - thank you for your prayers of believing with us! HAVE FUN, Audra!

  64. Hello JC family ~ I haven’t been on this site for a few days/ weeks now as Oct. flew by. I ask for pryr for many of you and your families as I catch up. Many praises! Much healing and for continued miracles to all through God’s abundance and perfect plan for each of us. May I ask for pryr for my mother (93) and sister who I am going to visit for 10 days. My mother is appearing to care for my sister who has moved herself in to my mother’s independent living in a spare bedroom on her own doing which is not ethical both for the facility and my mother who should not be caring for her demanding needs sadly. I pry for God’s love and Holy Spirit’s guidance w/ the help of a brother/sis in law and sister to seek wisdom to help especially my mother’s autonomy/ independence and to navigate/advocate for sister’s health/ well being. For God to break the ties of co-dependency and some display of toxicity on my sister’s part. God be the glory at this time of complexities and trials. Bless you all.
