Jesus Calling: October 4

I am the Creator of Heaven and Earth; Lord of all that is and all that will ever be. Although I am unimaginably vast, I choose to dwell within you, permeating you with My Presence. Only in the spirit realm could Someone so infinitely great live within someone so very small. Be awed by the Power and the Glory of My Spirit within you!
Though the Holy Spirit is infinite, He designs to be your Helper. He is always ready to offer assistance; all you need to do is ask. When the path before you looks easy and straightforward, you may be tempted to go it alone instead of relying on Me. This is when you are in the greatest danger of stumbling. Ask My Spirit to help you as you go each step of the way. Never neglect this glorious Source of strength within you.

John 14:16-17
New King James Version

16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

John 16:7
English Standard Version

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

Zechariah 4:6
English Standard Version

Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.

  1. Heavenly Father, Thank you for all that you do for me and all the gifts you give me each and every day. I am so thankful for the times that you are there for me in my time of need. Too often when things are going well, I fall back to going at it alone and taking credit for the successes in my life. I pray that during these times I continue to seek you and thank you for these successes as that is when I can experience the true joy you have bestowed on my life.

    2. So true, im am trying to do better bc it says that a prayer less Christian is still sinful ( something like that) I also got an awakening when it was said that a lot of could sing the words to sings from 30 or 40 years ago but could be recite one Bible verse!?. That's a shame and it was true so I need to get my act together bc I want to sit at Jesus' feet and not be left behind as we are living in the latter days and you can't pay your way into heaven or pay your way out of hell!

  3. Father God I ask for your guidance. I remember all of the beautiful things you’ve shown me on my path to comfort me. The things that have been undeniably beautiful. The fact that you can see through my eyes and know the things that affect my heart good and bad is the deepest comfort imaginable. I ask you to forgive me for I am and will be a wretched bloody sinner for it is my nature but with your love and your truth I AM healed!...sorry for my mind sometimes and thank you forever and eternally yours!

  5. Father God. I thank You for the confidence that You have instilled within me, in knowing that no matter what this world may throw in my path, You are always there with me and will always help me to walk through all the many obsticles in my way of serving You, my One and Only Lord and Savior.
I find so much inner peace through Your Holy Spirit, that I no longer have to worry about anything. I no longer worry about tomorrow or what lies ahead, but am content in living today in Your presence and listening for Your voice to lead and guide me. Why should I worry when I know that You are always at my side to help me through the day?
You have told us that You will never give us more than we can handle, and I have found this to ever so true. You have always been there in times of trouble and darness and have lifted me back into the light of Your presence. For that I am ever so grateful.
Receive me this day Lord as I surrender this body to You and ask that You take control and lead me through this day. Thank You Jesus for all Your Love. Amen

  6. In my garage sits a resource to enable me to go to wherever I am led to go. I did not create it, I don’t have much understanding how it works, I simply turn the key and allow it to power up and be a resource to get me where I am led to go. Deep within you and me is a powerful resource given us by God, His Spirit. It is given to enable us to fulfill our calling, to love. As you and I spend this time together, we are turning the key to power up this blessed resource within our heart for the day. And as often as we choose to do so throughout the day, this Holy Spirit fires up to enable us to be what God has created us to be, loving. As you and I would not neglect using our car throughout the day, even more emphatically, let us not neglect the Spirit within us. All that is required of us is to turn the key, “O God, come to my assistance, make haste to help me. May You be glorified.”

  7. The keys to the Lord's kingdom indeed lies within. Turn me Aba Father towards the son, like a sunflower follows the light of the sun during it's season. Not only did You send Your Precious Son Jesus Christ to die for us, but before He left this earth, He prayed for us (John 17: 20-23) and left us the Holy Spirit (John 14:26) to guide us in our paths. AWESOME! Thank You for these gifts. SALVATION has set us free indeed!
I will stay on bended knees praying for my mom's eyes to be opened and receive this gift. Please Lord, do what ONLY You can do. Break through to her and set the truth of Jesus in her spirit until she surrenders. Please also help me to be patient and not frustrated with her when she can't call on the name of JESUS and accept her free gift, but rather let her see Your light in me.
    Praying for ALL non-believers!

JC family, continuing in prayers for all the requests and concerns, before the Father who is able to do all but fail. To everyone, our Great Saviour is working behind the scene to make it all happen for our good. Thank You Holy Spirit for being in our midst and taking control.

  29. Loving Heavenly Father, Thank You for the blessing of a new day. I ask that You stir up within me the fullness of Your Holy Spirit and help me to grow in my relationship with the Third Person of Your Holy Trinity, to live in His power and use His gifts. In the name of my Lord Jesus Christ, I ask this. Amen.

God remains with us today through His Word, in our life of prayer, in our relationships with others, and all of these take place through the power of His Holy Spirit. Jesus declared the message of glory in His life and teachings. He is the true personification of God the Father’s amazing presence and God’s love and defining purpose that was revealed at Calvary cross for us. This is the revelation of who God is. When we can tap into His glory through the path of holiness, the power of His might operates through our faith. A faith that behaves like a child and opens up all kinds of Kingdom understanding. Everyone willing to give their lives to God, receives a promise when Jesus assured those who seek the Kingdom, that they will receive more information and wisdom from God (Luke 10). We need a balance, because the kingdom of God is about both His power and glory, not just power or just glory. Depending on God’s power and not our own, should be a daily act of trust for every believer. “The glory that we see in Creation is but the barest reflection of the greater glory of the Creator.” (Dr. Myles Monroe).

Dear Father, We call on Your Holy Spirit to help us walk each day bearing good fruits. The fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We cannot live out these things on our own; we need Your Spirit. Thank You for helping us, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

“For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.” Matthew 6:13

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.” Ephesians 6:10

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11

    Blessings and Peace.

I received a call last night to pick him up at the stated police barricks which I did not get but would not have done anyway. He knows God and but Satan has his claws in him. 1. Kathy. Many here know your anguish and your love for the person, but not the addiction and its resulting behavior. Praying that you have peace in your role as a supportive parent and as a "non-enabler", which it appears you have come to terms with by your leaving him in jail.

While all here will support you with prayers and words of encouragement, if you have not participated in some level of counseling, actively read books by Christian counselors on coping methods, or an Al-Anon group, may I respectfully suggest you do so as someone who has experience with a family member who had addictions. Godspeed and may the Father strengthen your walk through this challenge. May Father, Son, and Spirit pierce the self-destructive behavior of your son and may your son return to a sober productive life. Amen.

Please comfort this mother, Lord, with Your peace which surpasses all understanding. For all these things and more, I thank You, I praise You, I glorify You, Father God. In Jesus Holy name, I pray. Dear Audra, We always hear Him in the stillness. He reminds us to STOP the noise and distractions and spend time with Him. It sure beats any gym membership. For the profits it reaps are eternal.
Now I must ask for prayers. My husband played golf on Friday with his friend Tom and 2 other friends. Tom just told him that a friend he had recently had dinner with just tested positive for Covid. 34. I know I have posted this song before but it seemed so fitting for today’s devotion! Wishing all in this special group a wonderful day! It is a crisp beautiful fall Sunday in Alabama! God’s glory is EVERYWHERE!

Veni Sancte Spiritu which is Latin for Come Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, from heaven shine forth
    with your glorious light.
    Veni Sancte Spiritus

Come, Father of the poor, come, generous Spirit,
    come, light of our hearts.
    Veni Sancte Spiritus

    Come from the four winds, O Spirit, come breath of God;
    disperse the shadows over us,
    renew and strengthen your people.
    Veni Sancte Spiritus

Most kindly warming light! Enter the inmost depths of our hearts,
for we are faithful to you.
Without your presence we have nothing worthy, nothing pure.
    Veni Sancte Spiritus

You are our only comforter, Peace of the soul.
In the heat you shade us; in our labour you refresh us,
and in trouble you are our strength.
    Veni Sancte Spiritus

On all who put their trust in you and receive you in faith,
    shower all your gifts.
Grant that they may grow in you and persevere to the end.
    Give them lasting joy!
    Veni Sancte Spiritus

  37. BEACH DEVOTION: TREASURES BENEATH THE SAND
FROM LUKE 12 Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.
    MY PRAYER FOR US
    Dear Heavenly Father God,
On the beach, metal detecting is a curious hobby. Intent on discovering valuable earthly treasures, some people comb the beaches from sunrise to sunset everyday, as though they still haven't found what they're looking for. Jesus, You teach us about Heavenly treasures in Luke 15, the lost coin; in Matthew 13, treasures in the field, and the pearl. And Jesus, You ask us,
DO YOU VALUE WHAT I VALUE???
What would Jesus' Spirit of Truth say our answer is? Would Jesus say we are more passionate about searching for earthly rewards OR Heavenly Treasures?
God's Holy Spirit within us yearns for much more of His Marvelous, Amazing, Out-of-this-world Heavenly Treasures.
Would You give us a seeker's heart to discover Your Holy Spirit's truths in our life? Would You guide our detector to Your Spiritual Comfort, Your Wisdom, Your Sustenance, Your Balm, Your Peace and Your Joy?  Once discovered, would You  help us safeguard them as Marvelous and Amazing Treaures in our heart, always embracing  this glorious Source of Spirit strength within us as we go each step of the way? Would You reveal what our detector is searching for right now at this moment?
On behalf of our JC Family, I ask. I seek. I knock. I thank in Jesus' Name. Amen.
JC: I AM THE CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH! LORD OVER ALL THAT WAS, ALL THAT IS AND OVER ALL THAT WILL EVER BE!

  40. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16). And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30). You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him. (Romans 8:9).

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Spirit that dwells within me. Thank You for the convictions that I receive from the Spirit living in me. Forgive me for not always hearing, listening, or doing what I receive when I am convicted. Sometimes, it takes me awhile to realize and sometimes I think I'm just being selfish. I am sorry. I am not perfect. Help me keep my eyes on Jesus. I praise You Lord always. Thank You Jesus. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

If you are checking this blog, I would like to ask if you would let me use some of your postings to compile a little devotion booklet. Realizing that God seems to be leading you to share your gift of wisdom and insightful observations of the Scripture elsewhere, it would be great to be able to pass on to others the gift God has bestowed upon you. Along with welcoming each month in with with a thankful heart that God once again has given us breath to be, your wisdom of using scripture throughout your posting will be sorely missed. Please let me know if I can proceed.

Guide our feet, and our thoughts, and words. Help us to focus on You during the day instead of ourselves. Let us be a blessing to everyone we meet. Show us how to be better stewards with what God has given us. Let us have a heart to forgive, and a giving heart to help those in need. Please help us to be fruitful and productive so we can give God glory today. Thank You!

      Song by Terry MacAlmon

  42. There are times when we see or are shown parts of ourselves, our nature, our character that we thought were dealt with.
This morning I was shocked to find that resentment or righteousness indignation is still part of my nature, my character.
My first reaction was to ask the Lord to help me.
I was incensed, ' who do they think they are?!!'
Recognizing my attitude was not good I brought the issue to Him immediately asking the Holy Spirit to help me deal with it.
But maybe, just maybe I've gotten it wrong?
Maybe He has shown me that my response in bringing it to Him was good?
On the other hand 'resentment' I found, is still very much part of my nature, and that's not good!
In order to be disciples, from time to time we need discipling, that means being taught a lesson. We often don't take to discipline well even though we know we need it; a bit like swallowing bitter medicine.
Hebrews 12 10b-11 "but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."
The root of resentment ultimately is pride, the opposite of which is humility.
Today's Jesus Calling reading I find is so apt: " Though the Holy Spirit is infinite, He deigns to be your Helper. He is always ready to offer assistance; all you need to do is ask." And, "Ask My Spirit to help you as you go each step of the way. Never neglect this glorious Source of strength within you."
Lord Jesus please help me with this resentment I find rising in me. Holy Spirit I give you this resentment, please take it out of my life. Change me so that I am more like my Lord Jesus who lived in humility for the sake of the Kingdom.
Help me Holy Spirit to deal with the issue of pride, I'm not happy that it is part of my nature, my character.
Forgive me Lord, I surrender myself to You, so that You through the precious Holy Spirit may continue to work in me, discipling me, molding me, changing me so that I may reflect the beauty of Jesus not the ugliness of my Earthly nature. For Your Glory Lord, Amen.

    1. Thank You so much for sharing your heartfelt TESTimony, Peter.
I am also an aspiring disciple, who continually needs disciplen. In my earlier year's post, Treasures Beneath The Sand, I asked, Would You reveal what our detector is searching for right now at this moment?
At this moment, my detector is searching for Grace-ously accepting His Disciplen.
Thank You Jesus for making me a bettered Disciple through Your Disciplen. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

  45. Thank you for the insightful reading, sharing, prayers and encouragement. I feel pretty drained at this point in the evening. It's been a good day, but I am worn out. My DH now has 6 appointments in less than 2 weeks. The juggling, calling back and forth, asking 'why,' when I really have no choice but to comply with the Dr's orders. He is tired from seeing me get tired, which I do NOT want to convey. I made us a nice dinner, which he loved (I've always told him, he is the most fun person to cook for. He LOVES everything I make for him - ha ha - just NO sweet potatoes!). I know I just need a good night's sleep and that is where I'm heading soon.
Praying for each of you - getting out of myself - giving is always key to being renewed. I do NOT have time to get sick (feeling a little icky) and I sure don't have time for self-pity - when I'm the one planning and my DH is the one going through all of it. So - I'm giving it all to my loving Father and thank you in advance, my dear JC Family for your continued prayers. You are all in mine - which helps me to again, get out of myself!
Love and Blessings. Tomorrow is a new day!

  46. And as I pulled up tomorrow's devotion (I always prepare the night before), my answer was right there: "True Joy is a by product of living in My Presence. Therefore you can experience it in palaces, in prisons...anywhere.
Do not judge a day as devoid of Joy just because it contains difficulties. Instead, concentrate on staying in communication with Me."

  47. Our indwelling Spirit is the greatest gift from God. We never face anything alone. He instructs, lifts, encourages, and guides us. He supplies the right words to share. He helps us make good decisions and speak the truth. He urges us to help others even when it's inconvenient. He keeps us on the straight and narrow, and He helps us resist temptations to sin. He will lead us through this life, so we will stand in the congregation of the righteous.

    Romans 15:13
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

    Ezekiel 36:27
I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

    Psalm 143:10
Teach me to do Your will,
    For You are my God;
    Your Spirit is good.
Lead me in the land of uprightness.
