Jesus Calling: November 28

Rest in the deep assurance of My unfailing Love. Let your body, mind, and spirit relax in My Presence. Release into My care anything that is troubling you, so that you can focus your full attention on Me. Be awed by the vast dimensions of My Love for you; wider, longer, higher, and deeper than anything you know. Rejoice that this marvelous Love is yours forever!
The best response to this glorious gift is a life steeped in thankfulness. Every time you thank Me, you acknowledge that I am your Lord and Provider. This is the proper stance for a child of God: receiving with thanksgiving. Bring Me the sacrifice of gratitude, and watch to see how much I bless you.

I Peter 5:7
English Standard Version
casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Ephesians 3:16-19
English Standard Version
16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Psalm 107:21-22
English Standard Version
21 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
22 And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!

My Prayer
Lord I thank you for your steadfast Love. Lord, you do wondrous works in the lives of your children. I offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and praise you in songs of joy. I cast all of my anxieties upon you. You care for me. Thank you for caring for me. Thank you for strengthening me with power through your Spirit. I need Christ to dwell in my heart. I want my life to be rooted, grounded in love. I want to know the love of Christ and be filled with all the fullness of God. Help me to know what this means and be ready for it. Lord, I thank you.

  3. You and I have been chosen by God so that as God pours out His love upon us, it is a witness unto Himself leading any nonbeliever to desire the same in his/her life. In a word, it is evangelism. The first paragraph describes a person who has been chosen. Note the verbs that describe the demeanor of one with faith: rested, relaxed, releasing, awed, and rejoicing leading to thanksgiving which is a testimony to God. I hear believers expressing dismay over the lack of belief in God in our culture. Could part of the problem be that there are a lack of chosen people looking rested, relaxed, releasing, awed, rejoicing and thus thankful in their faith? As attributed to St Francis, “Preach the gospel always, if necessary use words.”

    2. Bob, thank you! I agree 200% with you. If someone has the holy spirit in his heart, it will shine in his face and his actions speak volumes of the spirit that lives inside him. Actions speak much louder than words.

That prayer today was my prayer and it blessed me completely as I prayed it.

    6. As do I, Jeanne. All this said, in addition to no words but behavior, we also need to be prepared with words to explain our state of peace. Unfortunately, or not, my words sometimes sound to others like the rhetoric they are wanting to avoid. Is it a viscous cycle? And I'd love to know how do you respond to such questions, and when to stop talking without sounding like preaching.

      He's eternally steadfast
      He's morally graceful
      He's purely powerful
He's impartially merciful (I wonder do you know Him?)
      Do you know Him?
      He's the greatest phenomenon
That has ever crossed the horizon
      Of this world
      He's God's son
      He's the sinners' Savior
      He's the centerpiece of civilization
      Jesus, that's my King
I wonder do you know Him?
      That's my King
      He's the King of Israel
      That's my King
      He's the King of Heaven
      That's my King
And He's the Lord of Lords
      He's the only one qualified
To be the all sufficient Savior
Jesus (I wonder do you know Him?)
He supplies strength for the weak
He's available for the culprit and the proud
      He symphathizes and He saves
      He strengthens and sustains
      He guards and He guides
He heals the sick (I wonder do you know Him?)
      He cleansed the lepers
      He forgives sinners
      He discharges debtors
      Jesus
      That's my King
I wonder do you know Him?
      That's my King
      He's the King of glory
      That's my King
      He's the King of Kings
      That's my King
And He's the Lord of Lords
I wish I could describe Him to you
      He's indescribable
      He's incomprehensible
      He's invincible
      He's irresistible
You can't get Him out of your mind
You can't get Him off of your hands
      You cannot leave Him
And you can't live without Him
      The Pharisees couldn't stand Him
But they found out they couldn't stop Him
They couldn't find any fault in Him
      Herod couldn't kill Him
      Death couldn't keep Him
And the brave couldn't hold Him
      Hey! That's my King, Jesus

  11. Happy Thanksgiving, Dear JC Family! May each of you enjoy this day, giving thanks for all He has provided. Maplewood, your list is amazing! MadFox - thankful for your "All Clear" results on your test! I bet that you enjoy your Thanksgiving meal, like never before!
Praying for each of you and yours and thanking the Lord for all of my family and the fun we will have today.
When my greatest "worries" are the fact that the pre-lit tree lights don't work (we did a test-run last night for tomorrow's decorating) or that I had to cancel my women's bake-off Sat. for my dear BIL's memorial service - I yank myself up and say, "Snap out of it!"
Praying for my SIL and her family as they give thanks today for the life they had with their dear husband, father and grandfather. Knowing the Man of God he was reminds us we will see him again. Let me be light and love to each of them this Saturday.
Let the family photo today be filled with laughter. Let our time around the table be filled with thanksgiving.
'All that I've needed thy hand has provided,' may I remind myself of that throughout the next few days as I give without thought of receiving. I already have received Your mighty blessings. Let me count them.
God Bless each of you - enjoy this blessed day and know that you are in my prayers. I know I'm in yours and I thank you!

  14. THE GRAY DOT POP QUIZ
A teacher entered the classroom one day and asked her students to prepare for a surprise test. They all waited anxiously at their desks for the test to begin. The teacher handed out the tests face-down, as usual. Once she handed them all out, she asked the students to turn over the papers. To everyone’s surprise, there were no questions – just a gray dot in the center of a plain sheet of paper. The teacher, seeing the expression on everyone’s faces, told them the following:
“I want you to write about what you see there.” The students, confused, got started on the inexplicable task. At the end of the class, the teacher took all the tests, and started reading each one of them out loud, in front of all the students. All of them defined only the gray dot, trying to explain its position in the center of the sheet, it's color, it's size, what it meant to them, etc. After all had been read, the classroom got silent, when the teacher started to explain:
“I’m not going to grade you on this, I just wanted to give you something to think about.

Everyday we get a brand new sheet of paper from God, a blank canvas, to observe and enjoy. Our life is a gift from Him, and we always have reasons to celebrate – nature renewing itself daily, friends around us, the job that provides our livelihood, eyes that see, ears that hear, homes, clothes, food, etc. The gray dots of me, myself, I, flaws, limitations, etc., are very small when compared to everything else we have surrounding it in our lives, like God, His Light, His Love, His Peace, His Grace, Our Faith Potential, a New Clean Sheet everyday, etc.
When we take our eyes away from the troubling gray dots in life, then we can rest, relax, rejoice, thank and enjoy each one of our blessings in the surrounding space and in every moment that life gives us.

✝️ FROM JC NOV 26: To protect our thankfulness, we must remember that blessings and (gray dots of) sorrows intermingle freely. A constant focus on (gray dots of) adversity defeats us and many Christians, causing us to walk through a day that is brimming with beauty and brightness all around the gray cloud, yet focusing our thoughts only on the grayness. When walking through what appears to be the darkest (grayest dots of) days, remember to thank Me at all times with Joy in your hearts knowing that the Light of My Presence is still shining on you. Rejoice in this day that I have made, for I am your steadfast Companion, Yesterday, Today, and Forever!

😊 Day 28: I am grateful for all of God's Goodness in my life that surrounds, covers up, minimizes or erases my gray dot.

🙏Dear Heavenly Father God, would You help us focus more on the Goodness of God? Including when times are hard? Including when the gray dot looks large?
I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

  15. Most Gracious Loving Father, Thank You for Your endless blessings, for giving me the awareness to distinguish day from night and light from darkness. You’ve given me energy when I am weary. 1. So true Norah. I've been in my kitchen all day cooking so we will have dinners in case I need to rest after my procedure. My son's family are coming over for lasagna tomorrow. I just finished it, but I got upset because while I was making the lasagna, I burned my husband's roasted potatoes which I had worked hard on. He heard me getting upset and then he got upset at me. That dot was getting big but I stopped it! I prayed and decided to do something better than get upset. I'm bringing food to someone who needs it and it will get me out of the house and I will renew my mind and spirit. I can pray while I walk. Dear Norah, You got that right! "Change your mind". Renew it and start glorifying God with your words and actions. No grumbling. I made the potatoes all over again and they came out fine. I'm so blessed and thankful to have all of you here who understand me. Much love.

    3. Today was gray and rainy. A huge gray dot seemed to cover everything. I remembered the gray dot story and said, God all clouds over this day are just a gray dot on your clean sheet of paper. I started thinking about the sun shining somewhere beyond the gray clouds, and the blue Caribbean waters beyond the murky gray ones I was crossing. I brought two complete homecooked meals, (Read: Thanksgiving overage) including home baked desserts to single people who ate sandwiches on Thanksgiving Day. They were so happy. They called to let me know how much they loved Thanksgiving Saturday. What to my wandering eyes did appear? The gray dot had disappeared. Thank You Jesus.
Glad you got a do-over on the potatoes, Jeanne, just like the do-overs we get every morning with the brand new sheet of clean paper! Blessings JC Family!

    4. Giving always gets rid of the grayness, right Brie? It did for me today with my Grands, blessing my Hub with some carry in food (honestly, it was a stretch for me to even order it...I just wanted SOMEONE ELSE TO PLAN THE MEAL!) - but this was the next best thing and just watching those Littles enjoy each other.
So tired that I think I'll go to bed even though it is early for me. Tentative plans for a brunch with Son#4 and his wife and boys. She is one of the easiest to be with, meaning if it works, it works. I am a planner, but honestly asked for a "Maybe." Hoping I wake up refreshed and renewed, shaking this flatness that has hung over me today. Picturing that dot and how tiny it is in comparison to that whole, pure page! ZZZzzzz.....praying for sweet sleep for all of my JC Fam!

    5. Amen dear Sisters! Norah get some rest! Then you can run after those grands. My favorite store is the thrift shop. Yes giving makes you happy and God happy.
Brie, So glad the clouds dispersed after your good deed. God is so good. He crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies as we share them. It is so true He wipes away the clouds when we give to others. Even a phone call to see how they are will bring the sun out in our hearts. Love you both!

  22. But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8). So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. (1 John 4:16). Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, "For Your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35-39). I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20). See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. (1 John 3:1). Because Your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise You. (Psalm 63:3).

  23. Heavenly, loving Father, thank You for Your mercy, grace, and love. Thank You that every day is a new day with grace and mercies new and Your love always enduring and faithful. I praise You Lord always. You are my eternal salvation. Yesterday was not a good day for me. I thought "this just isn't my day" because everything just kept going wrong no matter what. Forgive me for my actions and words, as I spoke and thought things that I shouldn't have out of my frustration and feeling overwhelmed and in so much pain. There is no excuse for my actions or thoughts or words. I am sorry. I feel like I let You down and was not pleasing in Your sight. I know that I let my focus be taken away from You and I shouldn't have let anything take my eyes off of You Lord. I cannot do anything apart from You. I've been feeling like satan has been trying to bring me down and pull me away from You and I need to be more on guard than ever. Please help me Lord. I can't do it alone. You are my strength and my refuge. I run to You for safety and I rebuke satan in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Please remove any and all wickedness that is within me and replace it with Your goodness and glory Lord. Cleanse my heart and mind Lord. Let Your Spirit rule me. You are my saving grace and my eternal salvation. You and You alone! You are the most high and there is no one above You. No one can ever take Your place. Thank You Jesus. Reveal to me what I need to know and show me the path that You have prepared for me. I don't know what to do. I need Your guidance in my life. Show me the way Lord. Help me to follow Your lead and not my own fleshly thoughts and ways. Help me to walk in Your Spirit and not in my flesh. I know that I'm not perfect and I make mistakes and bad/wrong choices, but You love me unconditionally and I am so grateful for that. Your ways are so much higher than mine and I cannot even begin to understand them, but I will trust in You Lord. Please guide me in the right direction in my life. Thank You for all my benefits and blessings Lord. I love and adore You. You are so wonderful! In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

  24. Dear Janet, what I've gleaned from your post describing your pain & anguish, needs and desire is an example of a child of God running the race set before us. From the "ready set go!" To whenever the flag waves you to the finish, you are persevering regardless of the obstacles. You never claim that it's from your strength, quite the opposite, you share with us your full dependency on the power of the cross. We have been blessed by your exultation of the Lord by sharing not only your ordeal but the scriptures to admonish & encourage each of us. For myself, I have been feeding on each scripture you have posted. How you do it with all the pain that would've been consuming anyone else, I can only say, the grace of God has consumed you! I don't claim to understand what any of us go through. His reasons we do not question. Our only posture is to thank Him and praise Him. I see that from your post. So in essence dear Sister, you are actually OKAY! Continue to walk out your faith with the physical part, by knowing by His stripes you are healed! We warriors are on it🙏! We love you💕

Both held tightly to Him throughout their lives in good times and hard times. Both were wonderful examples to me right up to the last, Dad passed at 92 Mom passed at 97, they had just celebrated their 70 Wedding anniversary the day before Dad went to Glory, be believe he held on for that. Their cemetery plot is quite a distance away, but my wife and I need to do some maintenance there today. Thank You Lord for the blessing of Godly parents, I got to know You through them.

Hubby got to go to ER for suspected stroke. Spent 2 days in ICU. 2 cat scan & an MRI revealed nothing. Ultra sound for stenosis revealed nothing. A spasm on his right side started the whole thing. As protocol he was given the clotbuster which causes hemorrhaging, hence the stay at ICU. He's been released just in time to celebrate granddaughter Ava's birthday. Please pray for the healing of his right side & no side effects of all the drugs he's been prescribed temporarily. Much love to all of you & blessings overflowing 💕🙏🌈

  34. It is challenging for me to activate today's devotion: to rest in the deep assurance of God's unfailing Love. I am praying to let my body, mind, and spirit relax in God's Presence, releasing into His care everything that is troubling, so that my full attention is focused on Him.

    Dear Heavenly Father God,
Teach me to be patient, teach me to go slow,
Teach me how to wait on You for the way I am to go.

Teach me sweet forbearance until things go alright
Help me remain calm and peaceful until I see Your Light.

Teach me peace and quiet and how to calm my racing, rising heart
So I might hear the answer You are trying to impart.

Teach me to let go to You, dear God, and pray hopefully until
My heart is filled with Your Inner Peace and,
I know and do your will!
    In Jesus' Name. Amen.

  43. Jesus Calling today reflects scripture with the word gratitude... a step above and beyond thankfulness this way: "This is the proper stance for a child of God: receiving with thanksgiving. Bring Me the sacrifice of gratitude, and watch to see how much I bless you."

With each year of remission and frankly, just getting older, I have come to appreciate these thoughts on God's mercy as he strengthens my thankfulness and gratitude. There will come times in the years ahead that not only my remission wanes but valleys for my family or friends will occur. We, as His children, must share His love as He does so directly. In this way we are living up to the vision of God for our lives. One of JC's scripture today is: "Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!" Psalm 107:21 (ESV).

Embrace gratitude in His LOVE. Godspeed. AMEN.

He said he was so happy to hear that! Then he confided in me that he had a very large tumor removed from his back recently and he will be receiving treatment for many weeks because it had spread to his lymph nodes. I told him I would pray for him. I told him to read God's Word because Jesus healed me because I prayed for myself and His Word covered me. Thanks for your prayers. Dear MadFox, We always pray for each other and I know we serve a faithful God. He strengthens us and even in the valley times, we feel His strong Hand in ours. Rob needs our prayers. 53. Happy Thanksgiving, JC family. I echo above comments that we need to “release into His care anything that is troubling you so that you can focus your full attention on Him.” This act is admittedly hard to do as we tend to focus and hold onto issues. Praying that each of us is able to cast our cares to God so we can see the bigger picture of His love for us.

    1. Happy Thanksgiving dear SC! Trying to give all my troubles to Him. Had a few problems today but He is greater. He knows and understands and that is a Blessed Assurance to me. Jesus is mine.

  54. I've so enjoyed having the time to catch up on so many posts. And what to my wondering eyes did appear? Brother Bob Malsack! Another blessing - so good to see you pop up here, Bob. We'll rejoice again when we see SassyMom show up!
MadFox, your life continues to be a blessing to all of us and I am so thankful for you, your prayers and example.
Praying for all requests, burdens to be lifted, hearts to be light, (including my own which has no reason to feel heavy as we are totally blessed with my DH's great health and a family who loves us. It just seems to get me around the holidays. Thanking God to remove that now!).
It's God in Christ in us, the hope of glory!

    1. Praying for all burdens to be lightened for you, dear Norah and all of us. Today held a lot of joy for me and my mom and my oldest son’s family. The food I prepared really made them happy and they all took home a lot. Julian has gotten very chubby since I last saw him. He’s a good eater! And Evelyn seems so much older: She’s cute as a button and we love her so much. She was wearing the same dress her mom Allie wore as a child. God gives us wonderful gifts when we least expect them. He is so Good and Kindhearted! My older brother ran over to visit us and it blessed me and my mom so much! Thank you, Jesus! We missed him and we talked and ate and enjoyed our time together. Then I put my mom to bed and Rick and I brought him home. When we got back. I heard my mom upstairs. She said she couldn’t sleep and she wanted some Sleepytime tea. So we had a tea party and more pie. She really enjoyed her day and she finally went to sleep. Then my good husband Rick helped me with the dishes. He must leave early in the morning because he’s getting together with 2 of our sons at home for some pizza. I wish I had more time with him. Oh well. I’m blessed so all I can say is Thank You Lord. Asking Him to take all our burdens and problems and all the loose ends of our lives and weave them into a masterpiece. He can do all things. Rest in Him, dear ones. He never sleeps and we are well taken care of.
