Jesus Calling: November 6

Seek to please Me above all else. As you journey through today, there will be many choice-points along your way. Most of the day's decisions will be small ones you have to make quickly. You need some rule of thumb to help you make good choices. Many people's decisions are a combination of their habitual responses and their desire to please themselves or others. This is not My way for you. Strive to please Me in everything, not just in major decisions. This is possible only to the extent that you are living in close communion with Me. When My Presence is your deepest delight, you know almost instinctively what will please Me. A quick glance at Me is all you need to make the right choice. Delight yourself in Me more and more; seek My pleasure in all you do.

John 8:29
English Standard Version
And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.

Hebrews 11:5-6
English Standard Version
By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; and he was not found because God took him up; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God. And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Psalm 37:4
English Standard Version
Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart.

My Prayer (2019)
Holy Spirit, I want to be in tune to what you are speaking to me so that when you speak, I listen. When You tell me to do something, I do it. I don't want to be a product in life of my habitual responses that are often there to safeguard me from pain and suffering and in turn, disobedient to your commands. Whatever the situation in life - big or small - I want to be about giving glory to God. I want to delight myself in You more and more and delight myself in me less and less; I want to delight myself less in what the world values - comfort, peace, safety, like-mindedness, feelings, entertainment, ambition for things. I want to delight myself in You Lord. O God forgive me for not really striving to please you in everything. I look at your commandments and I pick and choose the ones that are most comfortable to me. Jesus, yes, you fulfilled your words of always doing the things that are pleasing to the Father, but I fail. Change me O God. Change me.

  1. Heavenly Father, I pray that I seek your will throughout the day with the goal in mind being to make decisions that please You. Lord, I need You to father me and guide me on all decisions and pray that I take the time to consult with You for direction. I pray against evil coming into my life and affecting anything I say or do this day. I pray that You clothe me in the Armor of God and protect me. I am so thankful for all that You do for me and all that I have been given. I pray all this in Your name!

  5. The greatest challenge of my walk is asking.. no remembering to ask Him into all that I do each day. Small decisions seem unworthy of God's time and selfish - yet the God of the Universe has the time and Fatherly love for us to be in all that we do and say today. May I humble myself and ask Him at every moment for His guidance through all the seemingly trivial decisions of today and always.

    1. Your post reminds me that God's presence and our privilege of talking to him at any time is a gift...that he wants us to receive. Since he is merciful, we don't need to worry about our lack of deserving his attention. He doesn't function from a position that if we do something right, he will grant us his attention. As hard as it is for me to believe this: his mercy, grace and love are constantly pouring out and into us. He is eager to connect with us whenever we remember he is with us and in us. I still don't get how he thinks but I have experienced his patience and gentleness as I learn to seek his perspective.

  9. Repeating the results I posted last night. Hubby lost 175/141. There was about an hour of calls made (congratulating his opponent), taking calls from people wanting the results & filling family/friends in. This is a season of our lives that we've lived off and on for years, that is over. He's good with it, saying, "I've really come to enjoy my retirement - now I can get back to it!" He will always be involved, but at least now, it isn't mandatory.
Thank you all for your prayers. My rash is calming down (hmmm...any correlation?).
Thanking our Father for knowing what is best for us and that we are able to rest in His loving care.

    1. Norah - oh shoot - was hoping for a different result. But you said it earlier - Your hubby ran a good and respectful race and that's most important. Enjoy your retirement! Praying for you all. KS

    2. Norah, I am lifting you and your hubby up in prayer today. I hope you are both able to feel the comfort of this JC Warrior Family as you begin again, in the beautiful stage of retirement. Knowing he ran a respectful campaign is the best. I was hoping for a different outcome. Hold on, our Lord has something different in store for your hubby and you. I also agree the rash was likely related; stress can show up in so many ways. Glad it is going away. Blessings! cO

    3. Glory and praise to God for this outcome because it is what He has planned for your husband. He has something better planned for your family.

    4. Norah--- Tried to post several times yesterday, but the posts kept disappearing. So, I prayed for you and your Hubby's future today. Then, I was reminded that your future is already secure. 2 Corinthians 9:8 NASB "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed." Knowing about God's Blessed Assurance frees us to LIVE ABUNDANTLY!

    5. Norah, use this disappointment as a blessing in disguise. God has a far better plan for hubby and you. Give Him the praise and thanks regardless!

  10. Good morning Norah🥰. So sorry to hear of the outcome. Prayer for the opponent to carry out the duties entrusted in his care to serve according to God's will. About the rash, you're probably right, I get them whenever I'm stressed. Now you can just "breathe". Blessings.

  11. In the stillness of the morning unfolding before me oh Lord, let my thoughts already be of you, pleasing you, delighting in you, staying close to you. Hold my hand through this day, may my thoughts, words & deeds make you smile as you take pleasure in leading & guiding me this day. Let kindness be an overwhelming desire of my heart today & at the close of day a "thankful" one. I love you Lord.

  13. I am blessed with another day to sing Your Praises and lift Your name up high. I have new mercy this day and grace that I dont deserve, but yet I have Your uncondition love. Thank You Father.

There was a time in my life when I wanted to fit in and so I did things to please others. As I look back at those times, I regret grieving Your Spirit, but THANKFUL that Your love and revelation delivered me.

JC family, the Lord created us and hence has given us a conscience that universally demands that we should live to please Him. He made this our unalterable law and rule of action. To please Him is to gratify His Fatherly heart. To please Him, we must meet His views respecting our obligation, we must meet His wishes, we must obey His will, must adjust ourselves to all that He wishes us to be and do. To gain God's approbation is to secure our own happiness. When we do this, He is not grieved but gratified. To live with this continual aim to be ALL that God, under the circumstances wants us to be, is to live and walk so as to please HIM ALONE and not the people of this world.

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarded of those who diligently seek Him". Heb.. 11:6.

Blessings, love and peace to all this day.

    1. Amen dear Maplewood. Singing with you and praising His Holy Name. Thinking of how to truly please Him. I have often felt that all my baking and cooking for others may have been to please people and not Him. But I believe these acts of kindness are so appreciated, that God understands why I do it. God has taught me not to grow weary in well doing. So sometimes I just say No, Sorry, He is speaking Rest to our weary hearts. And we must obey. We must consciously put Him before others. Commit our way into the Lord. If He still leads us to help others then we will do His will. God must reign in our hearts above all else. The only true joy and peace are in Him.

The pain of the response to thos new awareness can be disorientating. And I hurt with you but more importantly the Lord hurts with you because He feels what feel. He told me this earlier this year, "yea though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I AM with you" and that is for you to!

Thank you for sharing and showing up for help, prayers, and support. As with yesterday, these prayers for one another are powerful, so powerful that they, "shake eternity". May our prayers and support be used to carry you THROUGH this difficult season. In Jesus name.

  21. 1Thess. 4:1 “Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more.”

Dear Heavenly Father, Starting every blessed morning acknowledging You, is an expression of my relationship with You and it lifts me up, causes me to step into Your presence and changes me. I am eternally grateful and thankful to You. Whenever I call on to You, I am doing so in expectation that You will answer me. I pray that You will work in my life through each prayer for the benefit of others, and to Your glory. Thank You Lord, for Your unconditional Love and sufficient grace, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Our ability to please God is ultimately the result of His work in and through our lives as our Lord and Savior, as well as our pursuit of holiness. As believers our primary aim to pleasing the Lord should be something we should all seek to excel in, meanly because we love the Lord and because of future rewards that comes from doing so. Our desire and willingness to please Him begins in our heart or our inner person. Therefore, let it be our motive and goal in life to please God rather than man. Sometimes, our sinful nature or the flesh becomes the antagonist to pleasing the Lord, but the filling of the Holy Spirit is the means by which we are able to please Him. Knowing that our disobedience grieves the Lord, helps to keep us from treating sin lightly, but also just knowing that walking in obedience to His ways for our life, brings happiness to Him which is an incredible motivation.

    C. S. Lewis, “The promise of glory is the promise, almost incredible and only possible by the work of Christ, that some of us, that any of us who really chooses shall find approval, shall please God. To please God to be a real ingredient in the divine happiness to be loved by God, not merely pitied, but delighted in as an artist delights in his work or a father in a son it seems impossible, a weight or burden of glory which our thoughts can hardly sustain. But so it is.”

Eph. 6:6 “Not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.”

    Blessings and Peace.

    2. Was touched by the Spirit in your line, "Our ability to please God is ultimately the result of His work in and through our lives as our Lord and Savior, as well as our pursuit of holiness.". As I seek to wrap my heart around that inspired thought, my pleasing God only occurs by His favor which could lead one to think that there is nothing to do if it is all up to Him. No, there is something to do. As Jesus made so clear, 'Love the Lord your God..." If my one desire is to love Him each moment of the day, the door is left open for Him to come in and please Himself. Wonderful thought, twin bd sis, to take with me today. God be with you.

Simarly, life's rollercoasters may be terrifying at the time but HE who brought you to it, will surely bring you through it. Hold tight, you are safe in His care.

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, (2 Timothy 3:14). Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. (Proverbs 4:5).

Heavenly Father, thank You for always being there for me and for listening to me. Thank You for Your guidance in my life and for the direction in my steps. I praise You Lord. Thank You Jesus. You are so amazing and wonderful. You are the most high and there is no one above You. Please hold my hand and walk through the day with me, rejoicing over You and being led by the Holy Spirit. Help me to always keep my eyes on You and allow the distractions to melt away from me. Let Your Spirit guide me and help me to follow Your leading and to do Your will and not my own. Thank You for all my benefits and blessings Lord. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

  32. For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I was still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10). But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts. (1 Thessalonians 2:4). For they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God. (John 12:43). How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? (John 5:44). When a man's ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. (Proverbs 16:7). Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he? (Isaiah 2:22).

  33. Wonderful verses to remind us that the greatest approval is from above. I bake so many Birthday cakes and cookies for my friends and family so I think about this often. God made me a baker, a wife, a mother, a grandma, a Bible group leader, a Choir member, an artist, a cook, a singer and a songwriter. I pray I am pleasing God with my fruit while I am feeding His people. I long to please Him as best I can and I often fall short. But He loves me all ways as I am and keeps strengthening me in all ways.

  42. Jeanne. Back at ya. "Girlfriend" and ALL of my brothers and sisters in Christ of the JC blog family. I am reading along, just have found that previous year comments by me, still share my sentiments, most of the time.

Many moving pieces happening professionally, physically, and spiritually. All in a positive way but requiring lots of change, and a recognition of my limitations in each area. But as I've shared before:
    1. Strengthen and deepen your Faith by prayer and study.
    2. Trust your path is within His will through time with friends and prayer. TRUE Friends will be trustworthy, and the most worthy in that regard is, of course, Christ, Himself.
    3. Stay Positive and friendly in your Journey as much as possible, just as the Lord did when He came to show us the way to live and then move to Eternity.

  43. Micah 6:8 (Amplified) "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you Except to be just, and to love [and to diligently practice] kindness (compassion), And to walk humbly with your God [setting aside any overblown sense of importance or self-righteousness]?"
With the Holy Spirit living within us we do know what pleases our Lord, because He tells us.
Trouble is we often want to do 'our thing' not 'His thing'.
Mostly the Holy Spirit doesn't 'come in loud and clear', His is the still small voice which our decisions and thoughts can and do override, tune out, even disagree or argue with at times.
Mostly this is due to us being not fully surrendered to Him, we still want some 'me' in our lives.
Am I fully surrendered to Him? My mind says yes, my heart knows differently.
Do I want to be fully surrendered to Him? My mind and heart say "Yes, Yes, Yes", yet still so much of me is in my life.
John the Baptist in John 3:30 says, "He must increase, I must decrease".
Lord Jesus I pray that You increase and I (the 'self' in me) decreases.
I want, I need more of You in me, flowing through and out of me. Those around me wherever I am need to be aware of You not me, You in the foreground, I in the background.
Holy Spirit as You show me what is not You in my life, help me surrender it to you. Amen

I do my best to Trust in Him. I want Him to mold me every day. I always pray: Father, Make me a better person. Help me not to complain or judge others. Let me be a blessing and a light.
We are all human and flawed.
May people see His light in me even before I say a word by the way I walk in Him.
      Ephesians 4:31-32
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

I pray I'll remember to look to Him whenever I'm about to make any decision. He already knows my tomorrows and He's preparing this new day. Let us trust in Him to guide our steps, our words, our thoughts, and our deeds. He knows where we're going better than we do.

  53. Three bodies missing from Earth; Enoch, Elijah and our Lord Jesus. The mortal remains of all others from Adam onwards who have died are still here - even if they're turned to dust.

Yes, the battle has been won, but our journey on earth is now in the "mop up". What are we commanded to do? Love God and love our neighbors as ourselves. But who is our neighbor? Everyone. Don't miss an opportunity to extend grace and kindness to strangers as you go about your lives. Your engagement could be the difference between another lost soul finding their way Home. You don't have to "push Jesus". Just know Him, study Him, act like Him. The Holy Spirit does the rest.

This morning for the first time ever my 10 year old Kia Soul failed to start. The steering wheel was frozen, locked in place, wouldn’t turn. The gear shift was frozen, locked in place, wouldn’t move. I called Kia Dealership in the next town, and was told they weren’t accepting any more repairs jobs because they only had one mechanic working and suggested I call the next town 50 miles away. I called the tow truck in my area to tow to a local repair place. When tow truck arrived I said, let me show you what it’s doing. I tried to start it and it acted like it wanted to start and stopped! He said let me try, it started grinding and started. I followed tower to the local repair mechanic who repairs all makes of cars. He checked the lights, battery, etc. Everything was ok. I asked how much I owed him, NOTHING!!!!! Thank You Jesus. I experienced a MIRACLE. Everything is now working. GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS. Thank You Jesus for blessing my life. I can't praise Him enough.
