Jesus Calling: November 8

Learn to appreciate difficult days. Be stimulated by the challenges you encounter along your way. As you journey through rough terrain with Me, gain confidence from your knowledge that together we can handle anything. This knowledge is comprised of three parts: your relationship with Me, promises in the Bible and past experiences of coping successfully during hard times.
Look back on your life, and see how I have helped you through difficult days. If you are tempted to think, "Yes, but that was then, and this is now," remember who I AM! Although you and your circumstances may change dramatically, I remain the same throughout time and eternity. This is the basis of your confidence. In My Presence you live and move and have your being.

Isaiah 41:10
English Standard Version
fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Psalm 102:27
English Standard Version
but you are the same, and your years have no end.

Acts 17:28
English Standard Version
for ‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we are indeed his offspring.’

My Prayer
I am so accustomed to thinking that good days are the only type of days I should have. Yes, it is what I want, but Lord, help me to appreciate difficult days and what I can learn from them. Granted, I know that I'm able to accept 1 or 2 in the midst of many good days, but it could be there is a tough journey you would like me to be on. Help me take my refuge in You always. I don't need to fear. You will help me. Give me strength Lord for I can be weak.

  1. Beautiful message, verses and prayer. I, too, somewhere along the line (as a very young believer), thought that nothing bad would ever happen to God's beloved. Forty five years later, I've seen that isn't true. But, never once am I alone in those times, nor are any of His children. Thank you for the reminder that we are more than conquerors through Him that loves us. Thank you for this day - let our lights shine!

    2. It’s interesting because today there is a literal storm where I’m at and the rain is coming down hard, what a great metaphor for todays passage. I know that through the storms HE is always there to guide us and lead us, HE IS FOREVER FAITHFUL.

    4. I Praise YOU FATHER for this day, through YOUR son JESUS CHRIST I approach YOU, with arms wide open seeking YOUR wisdom, love and acceptance, FATHER please bless me with YOUR HOLY SPIRIT so I may walk and talk in a manner that glorifies YOUR name. Forgive me for my sins, Let YOUR Will be done and YOUR Kingdom come. I thank YOU for my beautiful children, loved ones, brothers and sisters in Christ and continue to pray for those that have gone astray, turned away from YOU, as well as I pray for those suffering with illness, from wars, abuse, addiction, FATHER please give them the eyes to see and the ears to hear, include me on that one FATHER, sometimes lately I feel I’m blinded and turn a deaf ear towards truth I should be listening to. Help me stay alert, be sober minded and with a heartfelt commitment to serving YOU, worshipping YOU and learning all I can from YOUR living Word
I ask this in YOUR son’s precious name JESUS CHRIST,

  2. Why are we so bent on knowing the outcome of our circumstances that we miss the joy of the journey to get there. The hidden treasures just for the finding to enrich our lives and to become even closer to our God.7:15 a.m

  3. If we faint in the day of adversity, then our strength is small. We will come out of fire refined as gold, like Job, when we're faithful. Romans 8:28 ensures that nothing occurs without an ultimate benefit for the kingdom.

  4. Another perspective when we find ourselves in difficult situations; could it be that God has chosen us and placed us in difficult situations and among difficult people who dwell in darkness so that through us, God may show His divine love to those who have lost there way? A great expression: “It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.”

    1. Amen, Bob. Indeed, I've witnessed God doing just that in my life. He used me in a tough situation to be His light and show God's strength to others. It wasn't until years later that this was revealed to me through my cousin. She told me how strong I was through my adversity. I corrected her and said, "it wasn't me being strong. I am weak. It was God being strong through me." That has stayed with her and served her well. She's now one of the bravest prayer warriors I know. You never know who is watching so let's be His light to others. God bless you and our JC family.

    2. Yes, Bob and Rose, God put His light in us for us to display it to the world, and attract them. Through Matthew 5, He tells us You are the world’s light—a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see. Display your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father.
I pray He turns my flicker into a flame until I Shine, Jesus, Shine in both word and deed! Amen.

    3. Wonderful insight Bob! God places us in some difficult places so His Light can shine even brighter in the darkness, and lead others to Him. He is also strengthening us and our faith through our trials. We stand on the solid Rock together. No crumbling here!!!
      Beautiful words sweet Rose! Amen!

    5. Amen Bob! Your words ring true to me right now in my life. I often wonder why am I here "stuck" in this "crisis of life"; "why isn't it getting any better?", but then I see all the people He is placing in my life along the way and all that they are going through and where they are in their lives and how many of them are far from God due to the things in their lives. Many have said to me that they can see how Jesus has changed my life and they didn't even know me beforehand. Thank You Jesus. I asked You to use me as Your vessel and You are. Praise God!

    6. Amen Janet! You inspire me to the truth of what I am called to do. I have been holding back sharing that God is who strengthens me because sometimes when I have done so I've been called "delusional". My prayer is to stand tall on the rock of my faith no matter what others think or say, even if these are people I love and care about. It might take years and I might never see how the Holy Spirit has worked through me to bring light to others. I am a child of the ONE TRUE GOD!

I love you Jesus & trust in your promises. Thank you for taking such good care of us. Your love is faithful, always.
Sending up prayers for each of our JC family, for family, friends, neighbors and for our world. May we each shine your love and light.

  5. I was so glad to read that your appointment went well, Sassy Mom! Jan G. - you and your situation is in my prayers. Read it last night but couldn't comment. Situations like the one you are in can take time. It is so painful though - I've been there. I devoted myself to prayer and stayed quiet. In the end, the person saw their error and asked forgiveness. Because of the time I had spent in prayer praying for them, I was willing and able to forgive them. My situation took years and only God could have kept my heart during that time. Today, we are still the best of friends. It was a Godly experience, but there were times when I would feel myself swell up at the injustice of it all. "They KNOW ME! How could they believe this?" Over time, I saw it as their loss and when the truth came out, we were able to put it away. I pray your situation is resolved much sooner, but in the meantime, take comfort in the Truth that God knows you - even when others don't.
Prayers for all of you, this day. Our Heavenly Father knows the need and we can pray with confidence that He will meet each one.
Prayers for my 'traveling kids,' several this weekend. And for my patience as I doggie=sit a puppy, who in the first 3 hours has tested my sanity for agreeing to this. HA HA...I've been wanting a dog for a long time. This is one way to solve it.
    Blessings!

  6. Today's Bible Gateway verse. I will serve my LORD!!!
And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” - Joshua 24:15

  7. Thank you Norah for sharing. To know that a day will come when this too shall pass is soothing to know. The most excruciating thing is the injustice of it! This loved one does KNOW me or maybe not? Praying that after this they may come to know me deeper. I turned on my cell phone this morning to wake up to praise songs. I sang in bed to let the enemy know that even before my feet touch the floor I am praising the Holy God of my heart! Sassy Mom, thank you for the ❤️ love note you posted yesterday, it did soothe my hurting heart. " Oh God I need you, every hour I need you, my one defense, my righteousness, oh God how I need you". I love & appreciate you warriors. Truly a blessing to me.

  9. In today's devotion, I am again reminded that You never promised me a smooth sailing in this life, but You did Promise me in Isaiah 43:2 that:
"When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you". Thank You Lord!

Not in relations to today's devition, but this scripture came to mind as well: Matt. 7:7-8. We are encouraged to keep asking, seeking and knocking. When we asks, we receive, when we seek Him, we shall find Him, when we knock, His door will always be opened for us. Such a blessed assurance!

Count your many, many, blessings, name them one by one, give God ALL the Glory despite whatever valley you may be in, and what Him turn it around and do amazing things that you didn't
imagine. While you are at it, don't forget to Thank Him you are Forgiven! HAPPY and Blessed Friday!

  10. Good Friday morning from this chilly rainy day in Houston. Last night I went back and read the outcome of your day, Sassy Mom. So glad all went according to His plan and yours. Jan~ the truth will rise to the surface in His time. There is a reason for this, we just don't know what it is yet. Keep the faith. Norah~ happy puppy sitting for one of God's creatures. LOL!
So, every morning I read all of your posts and try to offer support where I can. Today, I ask for your thoughts and prayers. This has been one of the toughest weeks that I've had in a really long time. Between work and personal issues arising, I feel like I've taken one step forward and two steps back every single day. My boyfriend (that sounds weird considering I'm 50) and I broke up this week. He lost a child to suicide almost 3 years ago and the anniversary of her death is coming up. He struggles on a regular basis but he's been withdrawing and pushing me away because he doesn't want me to know the demons he's wrestling with. Please pray for Dean. He's a good man and I miss him dearly.
When I started reading the blog this morning, Bob's post from a year ago hit home. 'Another perspective when we find ourselves in difficult situations; could it be that God has chosen us and placed us in difficult situations and among difficult people who dwell in darkness so that through us, God may show His divine love to those who have lost there way? A great expression: “It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness." Bob wrote this a year ago yet it is so appropriate for me today. Thank you, Bob!
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I'm not usually on the recipient end but really need this today.

Suzanne - I will say some extra prayers today for you. I am feeling similarly as far as one step forward and two steps back. I can relate to a lot of what you posted. Hold on to HIS word. I will also say specific prayers for Dean. Someone I loved committed suicide 5 years ago, and it continues to be painful. The time around that painful anniversary is especially difficult. I pray Dean gets the help he needs to work through the rough circumstances that haunt him; and pray you will be there for him if he comes back to you for help. Hugs and love to you. 1. Your relationship with Me,
    2. Your promises in the Bible, and

  25. Oh Dear JC Family - thank you for your prayers! What a lovely weekend and I am so thankful. I will write more later, but all I can say is that we are BLESSED! We did dance, we did celebrate, we laughed, we cried and arrived back home a little over 24 hours later - SO THANKFUL to get to go to bed in OUR bed, in our cozy home. Praying for each of you, the prayers you've requested. Enjoy this song (again) - I was reminded of it this weekend in light of all of our current events.

  26. I love the scripture this morning......As I did my morning walk I decided to memorize the verse ....at 50 years old by the end of the day I cant remember much at the end of the day! As I repeated the verse again and until the verse spoke to me.....what wonderful reassurance with the promise in Isaiah 41:10 If God be for me, who can be against me?
If God is with me, whom shall I fear?
If no one knows me, still His heart adores me
I am safe, I am loved, I am healed

  27. What shall
    We say to these things?
    There's still cancer
    And so much disease
    What shall
    We say to these things?
    So much hurting
    And broken esteem
    So many questions
    But still one answer
If God be for me, who can be against me?
If God is with me, whom shall I fear?
If no one knows me, still His heart adores me
I am safe, I am loved, I am healed

    So much violence
    It's getting hard to believe
    And what shall

    So many people hurting
    With broken esteem
    So many questions
    But still one answer
If God be for me, who can be against me?
    (If God is with me)
If God is with me, whom shall I fear?
(If no one knows me, yeah)
If no one knows me, still His heart adores me

(If no one knows me, yeah)
If no one knows me, still His heart adores me
    (I am safe)
I am safe, I am loved, I am healed...
Now what can wash away my sin? (Sing it)
(Nothing but the blood of Jesus)
And what can make me whole again?
(Nothing but the blood of Jesus)
    (We're singing)
Oh precious is the flow (That)
That makes me white as snow
It was no other fount I know
It was nothing but the blood of Jesus
That I could do, no worse
That I could say, no price
    That I could pay
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Oh, precious is the flow (That)
That makes me white as snow
It was no other fount I know
It was nothing but the blood of Jesus
That we could do, no worse
That we could say, no price
    That we could pay
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
    It was
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
    It was
Nothing but Your blood, my Jesus
    It was
Nothing but Your blood, my Jesus
If You are for me, who can be against me?
If You are with me, whom shall I fear?
If no one knows me, still His heart adores me
I am safe, I am loved, I am healed
I am safe, I am loved, I am healed
I am safe, I am loved, I am healed
I am safe, I am loved, I am healed
If You are for me, who can be against me?
If You are with me, whom shall I fear?
If no one knows me, still Your heart adores me

  29. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. (Romans 8:18). I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13). In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith -- more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire -- may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:6-7).

Heavenly Father, thank You for strengthening me and my faith in Your ways, by trials and tribulations that You seem fit for me and my life. Your ways are higher than mine and I may not understand Your ways, but I will trust in You Lord. You always know what's best for me and You will always take the best care of me. You will uphold me with Your right hand and will not let me fall. Your promises are true and You are faithful. Your love surpasses all understanding and is mighty and everlasting. You are the same yesterday, today, and always. Thank You Jesus. I praise You Lord always. You are the best Father ever. Please forgive me for all my sins, wrong thoughts and doings. I am sorry. I'm not perfect or worthy. I am so grateful to be Your child. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

  30. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16). But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Corinthians 12:9). Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God. (Psalm 90:2).

  31. "Learn to appreciate difficult days". Concerning my ' quiet time '/ morning meditation/ time I steal away to be alone with the Lover of my soul: My habit is to start communing with Him the moment I wake up, a bit groggy still but start with 'Good morning Lord Jesus, I invite you into my day, etc'. This past week including today there's been many interuptions from the get go. I find myself saying ' Sorry Lord, I'll find a quiet please as soon as I can'. I find that rather than being stimulated by these challenges, I get resentful. It's one thing after another..a knock at the door...a family member drops around early morning..needing coffee, breakfast... my wife needs attention etc, etc. All valid, but I as a creature of habit feel disturbed if my early morning time alone with Him is delayed for any reason. Often someone has knocked on the door who needs counselling, prayer or just a sympathetic ear ( they get prayer anyway), yet I still resent the 'interruption'. This morning was no exception to the above. When I started to say 'Sorry Lord', He said "Just roll with it, roll with the punches. Remember I AM with you always, spend time with Me alone when you are able to". Wonderful, thank you Lord, the pressure's off.

    2. Dear Brother Peter, it's so reassuring to me that the God who loves us unconditionally, accepts, understands, forgives our humaness. I do strive to keep my daily devotional, but once in awhile I too tend to resent the interruptions. It can't be helped, for at times I need to demonstrate a servant's heart towards others or just be a good Samaritan, thereby using the lessons I've gleaned from spending time with Him. Be a blessing as you are blessed. AmenπŸ’•

Lord you brought me and Noah through being in the hospital with colvin. You protected the rest of my family from becoming very sick. Lord you know that both Noah and I are having a very hard time with breathing if we try to do anything. Lord you are the very breath in our lungs. You are the breath of life. We need you to regulate our breathing and to heal our lungs. Lord thank you for healing our bodies and strengthening us. I praise you Lord for life it's self. I praise you and thank you for my children and grandchildren. You are the giver of life. Thank you Lord for being merciful to us and not giving us what we deserve. Thank you Jesus for interceding for us and taking on the punishment our sins deserve. Thank you Father for desiring to pour out your blessings on your children. We receive with gratitude the gift of eternal life and all that encompasses being a child of the living God! 52. When the enemy comes at us, he wants to put us in situation that look impossible. He wants to pound us to the ground so we stop fighting. He wants us to stop fighting and stop believing in God. He jeers at us and says "God is not going to do anything for you. Your situation is hopeless. All those prayers you've been praying and all the standing you've been doing is for nothing. You have wasted your time." But the WORD says NO! That is a lie from the pit of hell, and the gates of hell will not prevail. We rise up and Declare this is a time we are going to HOLD THE LINE. WE WILL HOLD FAST, BEING PERSISTENT, BEING CONSISTENT on STANDING ON THE WORD OF GOD! We have to fight like we have never fought before. The enemy tells us we can't. BUT GOD IS TELLING US WE CAN. Phil 4:13 "I have strength for all things in Christ who empowers me. I am ready for anything and equal to anything through him Who infuses inner strength into me. I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency." JESUS CHRIST EMPOWERS US!!! Thank You, Father God, that Christ is empowering us that we can do all things today. We can RUN THROUGH A TROOP. WE CAN LEAP OVER A WALL! We are going to advance over our enemy and WE WILL THRIVE! Thank You, Father God, we are not on the same playing field as our enemy, because the WORD says he is UNDER OUT FEET! We claim our VICTORY and take back what the enemy has stolen from us! 62. Hello JC friends. I just left my 90+ mom with my sister who has been having a lot of health challenges. God is giving me such a love for my sister as she has helped Mom for so many years but living with her is not a good healthy decision. My mother can take care of a lot of her needs as she is remarkable. My other 2 siblings and in-laws feel we need to ask God guidance on how to help them both which everyone agrees importance of taking a break and having ‘time apart’ as observations have seen a symbiotic relationship. Thank God we feel action may be starting as nothing changes if nothing changes~~ now to ask God to move a mountain for Mom to agree and enjoy herself visiting my siblings over the holidays as she ‘doesn’t want to ‘abandon’ my sister but would ‘love to go to my other sister’s for Thanksgiving’. My sister can be a recluse and often over the yrs doesn’t get together with family for holidays. I pray for miracles.

  63. Dear Katie, I sure can relate to your 2023 post. I'll be with my mom through the holidays. But I do remember God's faithfulness and as I prepare to go to my mom's on the 14th, I remember God faithfully brought me back to my family, and He blessed me with the birth of little Julian, and we will have another new baby in April. He is so good to me and I am so grateful! Trusting Him to heal our weaknesses and our families and dear ones, and guide our steps, and strengthen and comfort us, and lead us to giving Him some glory today. Got a whole lotta cooking to do. Having our grandsons Gabriel and Nathaniel over for a sleepover. Greg and Mayra sure need some time to themselves. Time to put every little thing in His Hands because He can handle anything. Give up and let Jesus take over! Have a blessed day and praise Him for His loving kindness and tender mercies. May we receive more answers to our prayers and so many reasons to rejoice and be glad in this day. Thank You Jesus.

    Psalm 103:2-5
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
    Who forgives all your iniquities,
    Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

    Psalm 100:4
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

    2. Thanks Janet! Amen! Praise His Holy Name! God blessed my day. I spent the day with my family, cooking and enjoying their company. I have my grandsons over for a sleepover. Gabriel fixed my hair and now I have braids. He told me to show Grandpa because I looked so pretty! Rick liked my hairdo and smiled. Sweet simple joy! I'm grateful.

  67. Yes, thank you, Peter - great verses and I shared some today from your list. Joni and I texted this afternoon. Her blood tests confirmed that she has Graves Disease. I'm thanking God that it is treatable, not life-threatening and that she can get done whatever has to be done before the holidays, though the Holidays may be different this year due to all of the family political disagreements.
My day was productive and I'm curling up with a book as my Good Man has his finger on the pulse of the Nation. I'll probably have some Grands tonight and maybe a movie before I go to the 'nite-'nite land. Praying for you Jeanne with your Grands there and thanking God for sparing you a road trip that would have resulted in roadside assistance!
Praying for our Country, its Families, it's many blessings. Praying for your Family situation, Katie and for each of you Blessed Saints on this blog. We are blessed!
