Jesus Calling: January 16

Come to Me, and rest in My loving Presence. You know that this day will bring difficulties, and you are trying to think your way through these trials. As you anticipate what is ahead of you, you forget that I am with you--now and always. Rehearsing your troubles results in experiencing them many times, whereas you are meant to go through them only when they actually occur. Do not multiply your suffering in this way! Instead, come to Me, and relax in My peace. I will strengthen you and prepare you for this day, transforming your fear into confident trust.

My Prayer
Lord, I want to rest. I'm tired of playing the game and thinking that my way is the best way. I want to rest with You. Lord, as I learned yesterday, as trials come my way, I want to call on You for help. I don't want to simply think my way through trials, analyzing every part, is the answer to navigating through a trial. Lord, my trials and tough decisions tend to overtake me to the point that I am not productive with the tasks that you have given me. I stare at them, dwell on them, all the time figuring out how to get it over as fast as possible. Lord, remind me that You are there. You are with me, now and always. I can acknowledge them, but then give them to You and let You take care of them.

What is clouding my mind? This car purchase is bothering me. Help me Lord. This car we have purchased for Tyson is bothering me. Help us Lord. This school year and the kid's level of responsibility with their classes. Help me Lord. Teaching the evangelism class at church. Maintaining our home. Providing for the kids future education expenses. Getting my work done each day. Following through on passing out the Snapshot publication. These are my trials. Knowing whether or not I'm parenting correctly. Help Me Lord. I am meant to go through them only when they actually occur. Some are future issues. Teach me to walk in Your presence and surrender them to You and be wise about how my mind thinks of them. There will always be trials, but I don't want them to be my livelihood and God.

Lord, your word declares and tells me to come to You, all who labor and are heavy laden or burden. That is me. I don't need to be frightened or dismayed because You Lord are with me all of my days. I want to be strong and courageous and need you to make me that way. You are with me wherever I go.

  3. Our Father who is in heaven, conscious contact is what want above all other matters today. I ask I may know you are there. your word says you are there and I believe it. The knowing I am in your will is enpugh for me. Thank you my sons have health, intelligence, personality,hope, talent. Thank you for the provision of income to take care of them like they deserve. Thank you for the mercy you have shown my family, thank you for the mercy you have shown me. I cannot figure this out on my own. Thank you for powerlessness. Give me a clear picture of Humility. Help my husband Father, give me compassion for him, I receive your divine authority now in Jesus' name. Amen

  4. I told God that I don't know how to pray this morning for my issue's. I'm prayed out for the same reoccurring burdens. Your prayer serves us as an example and resting in His presence has been His gift to me. I can't but He can and He will. I pray Lord that we learn the difference so teach us how to practice the presence of abiding with you.

  5. Paytonfamily, I hear your burdens, as does the Lord. Remember that a life without struggles and some burdens was not promised. Only that He, our savior would be with us every step of the way. Rely on that with every heaviness you have. Know that your efforts to make good decisions in your family and all you do to honor our Father is heard and of course known by Him. You ARE his beloved, and He is pleased. Amen.

I want to thank the Lord for all he has done for me last year at this time I was a lost soul when he saved he redeemed me from drug addiction and alcoholism I have carried a job at the life is good corp for almost a year and me and my family are attending church on a regular basis long time prayers from my family is what got me here I hope this spreads some hope to some one in need God BLess and have a wonderful day

Addiction is very challenging and generally a lifelong issue... your courage and faith to find a way to now hold a job and to get your family together is awesome! Having experience with this family issue, please continue with AA (or whatever program worked for you), stay focused on the Lord to assist, and cling to the family who love you. Godspeed and may His peace and love sustain you and your new path! Amen.

    2. Amen, in the same boat. "Very challenging" is an understatement! Lol. Got saved in 2010 and still been struggling the entire time, 9 years, including a marriage and two children. One more relapse and I lose it all. Please pray there will not be one more. Amen.

    3. I and I am sure others here will pray for you. As you know, the concern for "unknown" above is a relapse. Your goal and his is to be sure you have a network that when Satan and/or your mental state get weary that you can call on your experience, angels, friends, and the Lord to get you through that moment and sustain your sobriety. Godspeed and trust that you will find the strength from God when you need it. Praying for all those in addiction and specifically for you right now. Amen.

I John 4:10-11 If we allow it, the trials of life will worm their way into the core of our heart undermining our focus on love. When love mode has been compromised, godly thoughts and directions will not come to us or when they do, we will not trust them. As we need food each day to sustain us physically, we come to the Bread of Life each day to be sustained in His love for us. With that focus well nourished, we go forth and face whatever issues should surface and proceed to manage them in love. In so doing, we will be amazed at what God will do with the issues.

  8. Thank you Bob Malsack! I also have enjoyed your comments and find your words to be very wise and I begin to feel guided in His word. All of us come here for the same reasons. I am trying to learn to give my problems over to God and know that He will speak to my heart. I have many issues that try to burden me so I look to God for my relief because I alone can do nothing. It is only when I release them to God that I can find comfort. I thank God daily, I pray in the Holy Spirit knowing that He is where I may find solutions to problems I've not even had yet. Thank you Lord for loving me back together again. Thank you for giving me rest when I'm scared and afraid of what may or may not happen. Thank you for giving me the grace and mercy to know that I am forgiven and that I am a child of the most high God!! I am your bride and that I live and walk in your righteousness. I will rest in you, oh my Lord!! This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it, Amen.

  9. I accidentally stumbled onto your page because I was reading Jesus Calling this morning and I wanted to share it with my mom. There ARE no accidents are there? 😏 Your prayer is beautiful and so fitting. I find it interesting that I just watched a video on YouTube with Gabrielle Berenstein on Super Soul Sunday and she talks about how,"The Universe Has Your Back" but really she means God. Trust in Him. That is also my theme for this year is TRUST. Thank you for your post. I trusted and my prayer was answered by being shown your page. It reminds me that we are not alone. ❤🙏

  11. I come to this blog daily, because I find Inspiration and comfort in watching others grow in grace. I also like to stay close to my christian friends in my local community, as the face to face contact encourages accountability that is not as prevalent in the virtual. I’m asking for prayers for my mom today to be healed from whatever sickness is causing her a dwelling cough and for all to be ok.   18. Loving Father, Thank You for wanting me to be healthy and full of life in every aspect. You want me to be replenished not only spiritually, but also physically, emotionally and mentally. Thank You for giving me the invitation today to rest in You. Teach me to recognize that true rest is found ONLY in the Presence of Christ Jesus my Savior. May I stop and embark on the preparation for my rest, to meditate on Your holiness, and focus on doing those things that fill my cup. May all your children labor and serve Your Kingdom with all their might, but learn how to rest so they can sustain the pace for the long run! In Jesus’ name.

    Our Father knows our limits and our need for rest. For us to rest, we must first and foremost TRUST God! He cares for our well-being and knows that rest is important to our spiritual walk! He knows that rest allows our mind, body and soul to be renewed and jump start with additional focus and strength. He promised to give us rest when we seek Him! He also designed a weekly rhythm for us called the Sabbath, (“rest” in Hebrew). Gen 2:2-3 says: “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.” From the very beginning, He modeled rest for us when He rested on the seventh day. When we rest in God, we are declaring that we believe He is (The Great “I AM”) sufficient for our every situation.

    “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matt 11:29-30).

    1. I as well... as God would say, "my beloved ones" ; want you to know I only get to read about half of the posts, BUT my heart sees them all and joins along with you; the posting and or the ones reading.

      As I journey into discovering His love and Life inside myself, I am discovering a unity in and through His Spirit which is the foundation of my spirit.

      Jesus's prayer in John 17 comes to mind. An amazing meditation.

    2. Amen Keith. Just read John 16 & 17. Such a Perfect and deep prayer/revelation of His Love and Glory. Then I've been led to Eph 2 & 3. I feel so peaceful and blessed. Thank you Lord.

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.     I'm grateful for this blog that brings us together and for all of you. You've brought His light, inspiration, more love, caring and compassion into my life, and, for that, I humbly thank you. As I celebrate my 53rd birthday today, I'm reminded of all that I've (we've) been through in the past year, 2020 was a year of struggles and storms, but the Lord carried us through. I experienced spiritual growth, grew closer to friends and family and learned to forgive as He has forgiven me. So comforting that we're never alone. God is always with us, guiding us even though we may stumble and fall. His love and grace are ever near. He's ust one word away, "Jesus".
    I'm eternally grateful that my husband and I have mostly recovered from Covid. Tomorrow will start week 6 of recovery for me. I feel 80% healed by the grace of God. Praise the Lord! I'm confining to pray for those who are still struggling with health, financial, emotional, physical and spiritual serbacks, and looking forward to many Victory reports in Jesus name.
    Go forth today to spread the Good News and be blessed.❤

  23. Praying the prayer that never fails for all of you, Dear JC Family. I cannot word any of these prayers any better, Lord, and You know my heart of love for each person on here. So, I am visualizing Larry waking up for a nap and stretching and saying, "I think I've taken a turn for the better!" I am visualizing MadFox mentally preparing for the next portion of his journey, and knowing that he is equal to and ready for each phase, as only he has been able to describe for us. Picturing him with that new Grandbaby and rejoicing with his family. For each person mentioned seeing relief from their pain, their worry or fear and each of us rejoicing in the victories we will surely read about.
    Praying for safe travels for those on the road, including my dear little friend who is returning to college today. I am rejoicing in my Dear Hub's victory over his swollen leg and the progress made everyday. I am thankful for renewed health and strength and see it for each of us as we give God the glory.
    I rested, as you mentioned, Maplewood and prayed myself into a nap with "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" playing in my head as I prayed in the Spirit. I am refreshed and ready to start the prep for the my hub's Birthday dinner that we will share with dear friends. I am a week out of my illness having just taken my last antibiotic. I survived the week of craziness at work, as did my matchless Team.
    Wishing you the happiest of Birthdays, Rose. How young 53 sounded to me when I read your post (having recently celebrated my 65th!).

      If so, I am picturing you scurrying around making a wonderfully memorable dinner for your Darling Husband' birthday celebration!
      Today after each task, I tried. "Come to Me, and rest in My loving Presence"
      It took patience, which took trust that the world wouldn't fall off its axis if I rested. (Maybe it already has :)

  29. Dear JC family, I thank God once again for this forum and for the love and support shared here. Today I am starting as a remote confirmation guide for my 13 yr old. We are states apart, but since they can’t go in person I have offered to do this for her. I pray that it will be meaningful for her and that it goes well and God speaks to her heart. Also, please continue prayers for healing of my head incision following my surgery. It is 99% healed but still very fragile. Thank you so much!     Once again, my Dear Hubby's birthday was NOT what we expected. He had a low grade temp all day yesterday and I finally decided to text on our All Fam text and let them know. Everyone said, "Let's reschedule." This morning, he woke up temperature free, but I had one! We both spend the day resting. I moved from the bed to the recliner, to the sofa and then back to bed - all day long and I know I'm ready to turn in for the night. No fever, cough is better, just tired. So, yes, Peter, "Dr. Jesus" has prescribed all we need. I thank you all for your prayers. Know that you are in mine.

    Heavenly Father, thank You. I praise You Lord always and bless Your holy name. You are holy. You produce faith. You give grace and You are merciful. You call us to salvation. Knowing You is eternal life. You are so amazing! We were suppose to live forever, but mankind chose to disobey Your command and let sin and death into our hearts and minds and into the world. Thank You Father for sending Your Son Jesus to give us eternal life. Why do we tend to forget the good things of God or they fade in our memories, but we remember bad things in our life so easily? Protect all my good memories of You Lord and let the bad things of this world fade away from my thoughts instead. I want to keep all my good memories (that are precious) to propel me along my journey with You Lord. Open my eyes to see all Your miracles that are all around me. Let Your breath of life within me be re-energized. Make me bold with strength in my soul. Grant me the courage and confidence to do Your will in my life. Thank You Jesus.     I encourage all who read this Jesus Calling Blog to read the words slowly and thoughtfully; just think on this line alone, "Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven"!

  39. Have a victory report to share with you all. Get your victory-dance shoes on and laced up!...My best friend, Betsy, her brother, Stephen, was given a grim diagnosis early part of last year. He was dx with esophageal cancer and had additional issues as well. His doctor had ordered a pet scan this past Friday because Stephen was not tolerating the current chemo...and he got the report last night (somehow...on a Sunday night?!)...There are no signs of cancer anywhere in his body!!! Jehovah Rapha is IN THE HOUSE and healed this god-fearing man, Stephen! Praise and glory to God!!! Betsy let me know last night and I could tell she was dancing on cloud 9...rightfully so, right

I know my Way Maker will help me shovel around my mom’s house.I must drive to White Plains on Thursday so while I was in my pajamas before I went to bed I put shoes , hat and gloves on and a jacket and cleaned off my car with Jesus and a broom.   47. Matthew 11:30 "For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. "
    There's a saying 'A burden shared is a burden halved'. My guess is, that it's possibly based on this verse.
    To take Jesus' yoke means to submit our self to His authority. It means to put ourselves under His rule, to join together with Him. He invites us to put ourselves into His yoke, one in which we are enabled to be yoked together with Him and He will bear our burdens.
    This yoking - burden bearing is not equal, it's not half-half. It's more like 90% Jesus, 10% us(if that!)
    Similar to days of old when two horses were yoked together to share the load of pulling a plow. Often it was a huge experienced Shire horse yoked with a much smaller younger horse. The younger horse took some of the load; but only a little. The larger experienced horse shouldered most of the load and guided the young horse and the plow to create straight furrows. The young horse was the disciple of the elder horse.
    Jesus promises that, as we submit to His authority and take His yoke upon ourselves our load will be lightened and we will find rest for our souls.
    "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
