Jesus Calling: July 12

Whenever you feel distant from Me, whisper My Name in loving trust. This simple prayer can restore your awareness of My Presence.
My Name is constantly abused in the world, where people use it as a curse word. This verbal assault reaches all the way to heaven; every word is heard and recorded. When you trustingly whisper My Name, My aching ears are soothed. The grating rancor of the world's blasphemies cannot compete with a trusting child's utterance: "Jesus." The power of My Name to bless both you and Me is beyond your understanding.

Acts 4:12
English Standard Version
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

Verse Thoughts
The name of Jesus is to be used by man for salvation.

John 16:24
English Standard Version
Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Ephesians 4:29
English Standard Version
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Verse Thoughts
I added this verse because it has meant a lot to me.

My Prayer
Lord, thank You for saving me. I trust You. Your ways are the best ways. Forgive me for settling for a way of life outside of You. Lord, I hate it when Your name is abused in the world. It is so horrible to hear Your name misused. It is amazing how it is thrown around and abused. Every time I hear it used that way, I want to praise You instead, but often I don't. I try to pretend that it wasn't used that way. Lord, forgive me for remaining silent. Help me Lord. Give me power to not just stand by.

  4. In grief and in prayer, often it is all we can do to utter, "Jesus". But within us, the Spirit groans and weeps for us to the Father and Son. How God is in us and our praying to God in heaven works... is beyond my understanding. Yet we can see its soothing effect and be blessed by offering prayers for our family and for those such as Kelly and her family mentioned yesterday by Sassy Mom.

I know so little about so many of the problems and needs expressed here, thus it is the simplest prayer that can cover all... "Jesus. Jesus. Jesus." He replies, you are loved, you are loved, you are loved. Be at peace, my children. Amen.

    2. So very true dear MadFox. Just saying JESUS is enough. He knows we are reaching for Him. He has never left yet we forget He is always there. The sweetest and shortest prayer is JESUS. And I pray it very often. I know He hears us when we call to Him.

For those of you who didn't read late post about Kelly yesterday:

    IN THE PRESENCE OF JEHOVAH.
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Kelly took her last earthly journey into the arms of Jesus at 4:30 AM Thursday July 10. She fought a good fight.

My dear precious JC Family, thank you for the many prayers offered on behalf of Kelly. Please continue prayers for Kelly's loved ones. I love you and wish I could meet and personally thank each of you. The Celebration of Life service will be Saturday at 4:30 PM.

  6. Good morning JC family 🥰. Continuing to pray for Kelly's family & Denise. Chris & MadFox good to open this blog & see your posts. Chris I'm with you on misusing our Lord's name. 5 yrs. Ago my daughter did just that in front of me & I took offense & reprimanded her. She did not speak to me all that time. She's just now starting to come around. I didn't know I would pay that price for it. I would do it again to defend the name of Jesus. Let's honor His precious name.

    3. Maplewood, my heart is broken for you that you were going through this. You are such a beautiful daughter of our one true King. You have given so selflessly to us here and been such a sister in Christ that is a first responder to us here in this JC family. I am learning more and more every day and I've learned a whole lot from you because of the way you share your prayers. I guess we suffer here but it leads to a honing of us in some way that we don't even understand but will some day. I know pain and brokenness within me. I've been praying the same prayer for six years now and holding on every day just trying to figure out how to be happy where God has me. The one thing that gets me through is that I can pray any second, no matter where I am, I can say JESUS. Just knowing he's always with us and we aren't alone is the best thing that ever happened to me. I can't imagine going through these days without knowing that.
My prayer is that you found your peace and answers and joy by now. May God Bless you richly with the knowing of how loved and important you are in His Kingdom. Retroactive Hugs to last year being sent to you and a new hug for today... times are really tough now and we could all use a hug. Love, Kathy

    4. Kathy, I too have learned so much from Maplewood. God has given her such a wonderful gift in her ability to share His message and truth always in a beautiful way. I loved your Retroactive Hugs. Love is always on right on time. Just wanted to say I can relate to God's honing of us. He allows things to happen and through the difficult times, He is still chiseling away at His masterpieces, teaching us that nothing is too great for us to bear with Him at our side. The hardships are also molding us into His image because in carrying His Cross and having our faith tested, He is strengthening our faith and renewing us from the inside out. I'm blessed to be His canvas. I have always felt the best prayer is "JESUS" and through the day I whisper His name and immediately feel His closeness. He longs to hear us call His Name and we long to stay in His presence and grace.
God bless you Sister. Thanks for the love because I really needed your hug. Hard times we're in.

  12. Dear JC Family, I've been offline for the past three weeks taking care of two of our precious grands. I can read the JC entry each day, but could not reply much. So much happening in the lives of so many. God bless Kelly's family as well as Emily, her surgeon, and her family. JESUS. JESUS,JESUS over them.
You may recall me asking for prayer over my ex-husband. His heart was failing. We have two adult sons together and four grandchildren. He past away on July 10. I sent he and his wife a JC devo book a month back. They had never heard of it. His salvation was in question, but he called me several weeks ago and told me an incredible story of how Jesus made himself known to him this year. He was changed. Yesterday his wife sent a text and said they loved the JC book from the moment they got it and they read it together every night. I am confident Jesus saved him and now holds him in his loving arms. Since I have two of the grands, I was privileged to share the sad news with them. I was able to tell them more about Jesus, heaven and how their "Papa " is not alone or in pain anymore. Please keep praying for my sons and their wives and our grands. They too may not be saved. I'm amazed at how God uses this powerful little book and want to encourage you to pass it along when the Holy Spirit prompts you!

  21. Dear Heavenly Father, You said to Moses in Exodus 3:14:“I AM WHO I AM.” I also know that there is great power in name of Jesus, so this morning, I thank You for the many blessings and mercy bestowed upon me, in His name. Thank You for being the ‘GREAT I AM’ and loving me with such unconditional love. May Your grace and direction carry me through this day, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

What are we saying When we pray in Jesus' name, someone might ask. First, we’ll start with what the scripture says: before Jesus left his disciples, He says to them, ‘I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete… In that day you will ask in my name’(John 16:23–26).
The name of the Lord reveals who He is. When we go to Him in prayer we do not ask in our own names, but in the name of Jesus. Frankly speaking, we have no right to ask anything, let alone asking in our own names. Praying directly to God the Father in the name of Jesus who took our shame on the cross and resurrected, has made it possible for us to have access to both Him and to God the Father in His name.
Praying in the name of Jesus is aligning ourselves with Jesus and when we do this, our prayers harmonizes with God’s desires for our lives according to His will through the power of the Holy Spirit. When we pray in the name of Jesus, we are praying with expectancy in accordance with the value of His name. We are submitting to His will for us. Jesus' authority rested with His submission to the Father, therefore our authority should rest with our submission to Him, by going to the Father and asking in His name. When we pray in Jesus’ authority, we are doing so in accordance to His will as revealed in His word. When we ask in the name of Jesus, we are identifying with the person of Jesus and confessing that He is ours and we are His. We can never go wrong here in doin so!

Dear Father, Thank You that as believers, we are fully convinced of the power in the name of Jesus. And when we pray to You in His name, we have the power of Him at work within us. May we never use that POWERFUL name in vain, but use it to bless us and glorify You in and through everything. Thank You for wrapping us in Your Righteousness through Jesus Christ the Righteous ONE. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

    Blessings and Peace!

  24. Today's gospel lesson used in the churches that follow the lectionary readings for each Sunday, is a familiar parable, the parable of the sower and the seed (Matthew 13). I have preached this parable many times but today, the Spirit showed me another way to hear it.

The Spirit reminded me upon entering my life at my baptism when I was 10 weeks old, the seed was scattered within my soul. There were times that my heart was hardened for a variety of reasons and Satan saw an opportunity to gobble up that seed so it would never come to fruition. But God protected that seed and would not let it be lost. There were times as the seed was starting to germinate, challenges came along and because of lack of depth in my faith, I was vulnerable to wilt. But God intervened and developed my roots so I could withstand tough times. There were times that selfishness on my part entered in threatening to choke off the seed from becoming fruitful. But God, like a good gardener, entered in and pruned away the selfish thorns, giving the seed renewed potential. Eventually, through all stages of the above, the seed began to produce fruit, first of all thirty fold, then increasing to sixty fold and then a hundred fold. What the Spirit wanted me to see in this parable is the constant love of God ever working in my heart to His glory. And that is the only reason things are as they are in my life. I humbly offer thanks to God!

God be with you. With love, Bob

    1. Wow!! What a testimony bd twin!! When God sows a seed (especially at such early stage in Your life), the enemy gets so mad and tries to steal, destroy and kill (what He does best)! But with the stamp of God one's life, NO devil in hell, on this earth or underneath stands a chance!!
What HE destined, though we fall short, He will sustained! He had His eyes on you from the start to spread His Word and NO circumstances was going to stop that, not even you (smiling)! You are blessed to be a blessing and this is why I am one of those grateful to HIM for all of your insights!

    5. Beautiful journey of faith Bob! We should think of that in terms of our children and loved ones. That the seeds of faith have been planted and our Father will help them to get rid of the thorns that and rocks so their faith will come to fruition and they will seek the Lord with an open and sincere heart. Your testimony gave me much hope for those in my family who don't know what they believe. In time, God will intervene and open their eyes and hearts. Thanks Bob!

  32. Show respect for all people: Love the brothers and sisters of God's family, respect God, honor the King. (1 Peter 2:17). Understanding is like a fountain of life to those who have it. But foolish people are punished for the foolish things they do. (Proverbs 16:22). Wisdom will come into your mind, and knowledge will be pleasing to you. Good sense will protect you; understanding will guard you. It will keep you from the wicked, from those whose words are bad. (Proverbs 2:10-12).

Father, please forgive me for the times in the past that I have spoken badly. I wish I could take back every word that I have ever said that was wrong and harsh, but I can't. All I can do is ask for forgiveness and watch what I say now. Help me to always think before speaking and to remember that once I say something, I can't take it back. Thank You for all You are doing in my life. Things are always changing and You are on the move. Thank You for being in my life and transforming me into the person that You created me to be. I am so grateful to You for all You do and I am blessed to be Your child. I praise You Lord always and continually. Thank You Jesus. I am enjoying our conversations. You are the best Father ever! I love and adore You. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. For even Christ did not please Himself but, as it is written: "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on Me." (Romans 15:2-3). Remind God's people to obey rulers and authorities. Remind them to be ready to do what is good. Tell them not to speak evil things against anyone. Remind them to live in peace. They must consider the needs of others. They must always be gentle toward everyone. (Titus 3:1-2).

  33. Amen dear Janet,
We've all said things we wish we could take back. But thankfully the Holy Spirit guides our words now, and we have the wisdom to think before we speak so our words will bring encouragement, support, edification, comfort, instruction, love, peace and refreshment. The right words can turn a person's whole day and life around. We can share God's light and love just by the words the Spirit feeds us.

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

  34. Heavenly Father, today I pray your strength on Dallas Jenkins, producer of the series The Chosen (www.TheChosen.com). At the completion of season 2 of this story of Jesus and his disciples, those involved are physically spent from giving their all to promote a story that shows the human nature of Jesus and his followers. They are asking for prayers. This series is changing lives around the world and will change more. With a little artistic licence, the stories of the Bible come to life in a refreshing way that can attract new believers. God bless them and support their efforts as you see fit Lord. In Jesus's name I pray.

  35. God bless and strengthen them and all those who are working hard to spread God’s message of truth and redemption and salvation. They are God’s good soldiers and faithful servants. Thank You Jesus.

  36. Praying for each of you, your spouses, your siblings, your children. Audra, my DH and I have been watching The Chosen and it is remarkable how much it brings to life the Life of our Loving Lord and Savior. I didn't know the Producers' name until you stated, Dallas Jenkins. I've heard him speak and explain various portions of the series, but I didn't know his name to PRAY FOR HIM. My hub and I will absolutely pray. What an incredible thing he has done with this series. We anxiously await every next episode.
Today, I had a tube put in my ear! When my ENT Dr. said he wanted to do that I said, "Really? You are going to admit to the hospital, knock me out and put in a tube?" He said, "No, I give you a local, slip the tube in - in 30 seconds, it's over. We only do that whole procedure with children b/c they can't stay still." And so he did. And already, I'm hearing better. I felt so 'normal,' that I went to help my daughter clean her apt she's moving out of so she gets her full deposit back. God is SO AMAZING! Please pray for my Joni. She has put off her tests (GI issues) for the 2nd month in a row b/c of the expense. When I told her we'd give her the money, she said, "No, I'll go in August."
Our friend, Jim is home and recovering from his back surgery and thanks all of you for your prayers.
DH continues to improve and has me over the moon with the ability he now has in his leg.
Our God is an Awesome God and WE are the recipients of His love, mercy, grace and healing in the name of Jesus Christ. I am so thankful, dear JC Fam and pray for each of you. Now....MUST SLEEP! :)

  37. I'm so very happy you can hear better now Norah! What a difference a day makes and a tiny tube! Thanking God for His faithfulness. And you immediately helped your daughter because your priorities are in the right place. Praying for Joni. God will make a way for her to get those tests before August. Thank God Jim is doing well after his back surgery and back home! And your DH's leg is healing! So many reasons to be thankful! More victories and answered prayers. Rest well sweet sister. Thank You Jesus!

    1. There are so many good songs about the sweet name of Jesus. I just wanted to share a verse from this one that came to my mind first thing.

      Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
There's just something about that name.
      Master, Savior,Jesus!
Like the fragrance after the rain.
      Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!
Let all heaven and earth proclaim,
Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,
But there's something about that name!

  43. I love the Name of Jesus and I whisper His Name often to bring Him to the forefront of my mind. Whenever I hear someone using His Name in vain, I boldly proclaim: Jesus is my Lord and my Savior.
    He is my Everything.

    Philippians 2:10-12
    That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  55. Let us begin this new day together praising His Holy Name. Look up from where your help cometh. We are indeed blessed as children of God as His Spirit bears witness. Nothing can shake us as we stand together on the Rock that never crumbles. I'm off to see my good Mom. I will praying for you. Please keep Roger in your prayers. He had eye surgery yesterday because he has a "pucker" in his eye and he cannot see. Praying for God's faithfulness to shine like the sun in his health and also for a strength of faith. He has cancer and so many things to deal with. But our amazing God is so much greater! May you all receive answers to your prayers. Wait on the Lord! He is so good! Hallelujah!

    Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

    Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

    Psalm 42:11
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
