Jesus Calling: August 6

When things seem to be going all wrong, stop and affirm your trust in Me. Calmly bring these matters to Me, and leave them in My capable hands. Then, simply do the next thing. Stay in touch with Me through thankful, trusting prayers, resting in My sovereign control. Rejoice in Me--exult in the God of your salvation! As you trust in Me, I make your feet like the feet of a deer. I enable you to walk and make progress upon your high places of trouble, suffering, or responsibility

Job 13:15
New King James Version

Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.

Psalm 18:33
English Standard Version

He made my feet like the feet of a deer
    and set me secure on the heights.

Habakkuk 3:17-19
Amplified

17 Though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, [though] the product of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold and there are no cattle in the stalls, 18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exult in the [victorious] God of my salvation! 19 The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]!

My Prayer
Lord, too often my actions are defined by my feelings and yet you remind me that rejoicing in You Lord and acknowledging that You are my strength is to be a daily prayer, daily words from my mouth. That no matter the situation, good or bad, You God are there and present and You God are in control. I must admit Lord when my prayers don't produce the desired petition. Guard me against this danger in my life and keep me trusting in You, thanking You, and talking to You.

      Our God is an Awesome God
      He reigns from Heaven above
      With Wisdom, Power, and Love
      Our God is an Awesome God
      Plus I am also praying one of Job's prayers 20. O God there are two things I beg You to do to me; only then will I be able to face You: Stay with me! Illuminate, calm and reassure me with Your Awesome Presence. Welcome Holy Spirit! Enter in!
      When things seem to be going awry, then it may be helpful to Stop! Delay the train! Affirm your trust in Me. Calmly bring these matters to Me and leave them under My Awesomeness, My Authority, My Sovereign Control and in My Completely Capable Hands. Then, as quickly as you can, start doing your part: Praising! Thanking! Trusting! Resting! Rejoicing! Exulting!
      Love to you and our entire JC Family.

    4. Amen Brie and dear Unknown, I too always pray for you, that God will lift you up out of your situation and make your life better and your heart joyful. He is the only one who can guide to escape your depression and despair, and place you high up to a place of peace and safety where you will see all the reasons to be grateful so your tears will be turned into rejoicing.

    5. Dear Unknowns,
      God IS helping you now, in this moment,
      Though you may not see it nor hear.
      Perhaps by a friend in the distance,
      Perhaps by a stranger near.
      Perhaps by a printed message,
      Perhaps by a spoken word.
      In ways you know and know not,
      You are having God's Help through our Lord!
      Amen

  2. Continued prayers for the broken hearted. My phones rang off the hook yesterday. Too many, too close to home. Trusting our Nation will be healed. So thankful for all of the prayers yesterday - I got on and read and prayed with you. Heal their hearts, Father.

  3. Awake very early today, and found today's "lesson" on point. In our valleys both spiritual and physical, it is good to remember our God still reigns with love. We may not understand the reason for our current situation, but in faith, we hold to His sovereignty. It is a challenge to accept the valleys of life, but if we claim and enjoy the mountaintop experiences, we must accept that "life happens" and will ebb and flow.

    Thank you Father for never changing and loving us in both our highs and the lows. May we remember your promise to always be with us. Amen

    1. Even a year later, your post is so very true dear Madfox! God still reigns with love. He is above all and leads us to through the valleys and storms of our lives. He never promised us a "rose garden" but He did promise us that He would never leave or forsake us! That's good enough for me.

    3. Sometimes am truly in awe of what God put on my heart and mind in 2018 thru 2020 before my diagnosis, right here on our JC blog.

      Because seeing these older posts 4-6 years later, I think "who is that guy saying things like that?" And I remember reading them the first year post diagnosis and thinking, "me telling me, God promises your valley will pass. It will be going "home", literally or in heaven. So be the light, stay positive!"

      He knows us so well individually, personally,
      and amazingly. We serve an awesome God indeed. Amen.

    3. Thanks Sassy Mom. Like the deer in today's devotion I ran across this:
      "Someone" sent me the following formula for successfully navigating through the valley of the shadow while living during these hazardous pandemonic times:
      1. Pray
      2. Pray
      3. Pray
      4. Pray
      5. Pray some more, and finally,
      6. Pray!
      Pray for our families;
      Pray for our friends;
      Pray for our colleagues;
      Pray for our elected officials;
      Pray for all the frontline workers;
      Pray for those who are ill;
      Pray for those who have died;
      Pray for our clergy;
      Pray for our Prayer Warriors;
      Pray for strangers;
      Pray for everyone I encounter today;
      Pray for our country;
      Pray for our world;
      Pray for the finances;
      Pray for each person in need;
      Pray for peace that surpasses all understanding;
      Pray for those who are anxious for nothing;
      Pray for those who are at peace with everything;
      Pray for the JOY that cometh in the morning;
      Pray believing we are taken good care of by a Good Loving Awesome God;
      Pray that we place GOD FIRST up above ALL others and ALL things, with no exceptions and no hold-backs;
      Pray that we begin to treat our neighbor as ourselves.
      When My people, who call themselves My children using My Name, will humble themselves, Pray, and seek only My Face, then I will hear them from My Home in the Highest Heaven. When I hear, then I will forgive and heal their land!

      Beautiful post Brie, We must just keep praying for a better world, for healing of all weaknesses, for violence to cease, prejudice to be removed and for newfound and renewed faith. May God make all things right. Thank you Jesus: Love one another as I have loved you. God is in charge, and in Him shall I rest.

    5. Continuing to pray for all of our requests and for our country and for this Delta to stop taking the lives of our people. God will make it right. I still believe He is in charge. Let us be careful and on our guard not to make foolish decisions. Wear your mask when you are out and about. Get vaccinated and urge your loved ones to do the same. God will pull us through into a bright sweet future in His own timing. Wait on the Lord. His promises are reliable.

    MY HEART SING:
    When trouble is in my way
    I can't tell my night from day
    When I'm tossed from side to side
    Like a ship on a raging tide
    I don't worry I don't fret
    My God has never failed me yet
    Troubles come from time to time
    But that's all right,
    I'm not the worrying kind because..

    I've got confidence
    God is gonna see me through
    No matter what the case may be
    I know He's gonna fix it for me..

    Job was sick so long
    Till the flesh fell from his bones
    His wife, cattle and children,
    Everything that he had was gone
    But Job in his despair
    He knew that God still cared
    Sleepless days and sleepless nights
    But Job said that's all right because:

    I've got confidence
    God is gonna see me through
    No matter what the case may be
    I know He's gonna fix it for me….(by Andraé Crouch)

    Dear Father, We trust the plan You have for us and know it is better than our own. We thank You for Your continued Presence and guidance in our lives, as we move through the known and unknown of Your beautiful creation. ‘Trusting You means looking beyond what we can see to what You see’ (2 Kings 6:17), so thank You Father. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  23. Father, let me hold dear the fact that You are not a "genie in a bottle" -- nor should You be treated as such. Let the true teaching of Your word be placed deep within me -- where it can't be lost, stolen, or destroyed, but let the Holy Spirit water it and help me gain a clearer, better insight and understanding of it. Help me to die to myself and live for You daily. I can't do it on my own. Help me Jesus. I am weak, but You are strong. "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. (Matthew 16:24-25). "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13-14). Remind me that life is not about my wants and desires, but it's about You and Your glory. While You want me to be joyful and bless me, I must remember that this is not my home and not to get too comfortable here for my real home in heaven is where my heart and mind should always be. "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21). Please quiet my mind so I can hear Your thoughts and not my own. Reprogram my way of thinking to be like Yours. Help me overcome my sin nature and to be more like You Lord. Help me decrease so You can increase in me. Let there be more of You and less of me. I bless, praise, and rejoice in You Lord continually and always. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen. Thank You Jesus.

  24. “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him” (Psalm 62:1).

    Loving Father, Without You, I can never find peace and rest. I thank you that your Word reminds me that you have given me direct access to You whenever and wherever. I ask that in moments where my thoughts or life feels like they are out of control, empower me to capture and cast down every thought or feeling and pick myself up and just find rest in and with You. I thank you for all the good gifts you have given me in my life and the ones to come. Thank You for another great day to say Thank You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

    When we allow our minds to be separated from our hearts through the busyness of this life, it becomes difficult to be continually present to the Lord. Therefore if we so desire to hear the voice of our Father and seek to Him continually, we submit our minds to Him completely at the level of our hearts, silencing everything around us. Practicing silence as Christians, should be our way of connecting with God. He wants to be present with us and He rejoices when we set aside time for silence and can create a space where we can become aware of Him.
    He surely wants us to talk to Him about whatever is going on in our life, our struggles, our work, our activities, our feelings, our victories, hurts and also our praises. He wants us to move beyond all of these circumstances and find a place where you can simply sit with Him and rest!

    “The LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him”
    (Habakkuk 2:20).

    “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him” (Psalm 62:5).

    Blessings and Peace.

  25. I have asked for all of you to pray for my daughter Alli and her husband Kel as their 36 week fetus was diagnosed with CDH and many of you have done this for me. 🥰 I also have my church praying and all of my wonderful Christian friends that I’m blessed to have. 2 weeks ago we were told CDH is a hole in the diaphragm and other organs migrate into the chest cavity interfering with lung development and surgery is immediate upon delivery and at least 6 weeks in the NICU. Yesterday a new ultrasound confused the doctor because it looks as though there’s not a hole but a bubble and he may not need surgery! What? Is this the miracle we’ve all been praying for? I’m just in shock!!! I know praying works but this is truly miraculous 👏🏻 I can’t get my hopes up yet because he needs to be born before they know the outcome but I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for your kindness and concern. I will definitely keep you posted but please still pray for this little guy!❤️❤️❤️

I had to take meds for the nerve pain caused by the cancer but not now!! I claim my healing in Jesus name...that precious, precious name. Thank you all for praying for me. 30. "When things seem to be going all wrong, stop and affirm your trust in Me. "
    Wow! Looking at the situations in many parts of the world, Oh Boy, are things going wrong! So many panics, pandemoniums and pandemics. So many wars and rumors of wars. Health scares, financial scares, personal safety scares, wild fire, earthquake, volcanic eruption scares etc.
    Like never before we need to keep our eyes, hearts and minds on the only One who can save us. No religion can, no religious writings can, no god, no idol, no religious person, no reciting mantra's, no-one and nothing can save us but the Blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God, Who gave His life so that, believing in Him we will be reconciled to Almighty God, saved to eternal life and saved from the wrath of God.
    We are privileged indeed to witness first hand these end times.
    2 Corinthians 6:7 ' For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation".
    Now is the day of salvation.
    Acts 16:31 "And they answered, “Believe in the Lord Jesus [as your personal Savior and entrust yourself to Him] and you will be saved, you and your household [if they also believe].”

But I’m upset because Greg and I were talking and I told him I trust in God so much and he said God doesn’t exist.Then he told me he has been an atheist for many years. I couldn’t believe it! I knew he had stopped going to church but I still thought he believed in God. I asked Mayra if she was an atheist too. And she said No. Thank God.! Later I told Mayra to pray that someday Greg will turn back to God. She said People don’t change. I told her God can change them. I pray for my youngest son and his family to turn to Jesus someday. Trusting in the Lord that our amazing God will turn their hearts toward Him and change everything to good. Thank You Jesus!
