Jesus Calling: December 2

I AM the Prince of Peace. As I said to My disciples, I say also to you: Peace be with you. Since I am your constant Companion. My Peace is steadfastly with you. When you keep your focus on Me, you experience both My Presence and My Peace. Worship Me as King of kings, Lord of lords, and Prince of Peace.
You need My Peace each moment to accomplish My purposes in your life. Sometimes you are tempted to take shortcuts, in order to reach your goal as quickly as possible. But if the shortcut requires turning your back on My peaceful Presence, you must choose the longer route. Walk with Me along paths of Peace, enjoy the journey in My Presence.
Isaiah 9:6
English Standard Version
For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

John 20:19-21
English Standard Version
19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”

Psalm 25:4
New King James Version
Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.

My Prayer
Lord God, show me your ways, teach me your paths. I want to live according to your plans. Help me to understand that as I read your word and then I suppose I will have a decision whether to do it. Work in me life, through your Holy Spirit, to put a new way of thinking in me, so that my ways are all about bringing glory to You. You are the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

  2. I want peace more than anything in my life. I pray constantly but can't stop my brain from replaying terrible things that have happened. I go to therapy weekly, take meds for depression, anxiety, OCD. God, send miracles. Help me trust that this too shall pass. Thank you Lord for Christian doctors and therapists. I know you rule but please send consistent peace. I'm open to see and hear you. Thank you for this blog that I can always turn to day or night. God bless you Payton family for doing the Lord's work. Thank you for listening.

    2. May the Lord enable you to trust Him. Think about all the ways He has come through for you. When your mind goes back to negative things in the past, ask Him to reveal what lies you believe and to replace them with the truth. Ask Him where He was when.....
He has always been with you and will bring good out of everything, even if you haven't seen it yet.
Prayers for you to realize He has left your mind with the peace that passes all understanding. You just have to tap into it with Him. ❤

    4. Anxiety is so real. You cannot turn off your brain. Prayer is the only thing that helps me. I recently cut out all caffeine and that is helping tremendously. Prayers for peace.

    5. How are you Trusting The Lord? Hopefully, your anxiety is in remission. I shall continue in prayer for and with you. Listening to Christian Music or reading The Psalms usually helps me. Blessings

    6. Grateful to see the Lords people love, care and pray for one another. Reading these past prayers I also realized that I needed to ask the Lord to show me the lies that I believe and turn them into truths. Thank you all for your words and prayers of inspiration this morning. Sincere Love in Christ Jesus.

    7. Trusting the Lord, wait on the Lord. The best is yet to come. Trust Him more than your feelings. When my 3rd son was born I suffered from a terrible case of postpartum depression. I prayed to get better. But I felt hopeless. I went to some doctors and tried medication but it wasn’t till much later that I found my God sent angel, a woman Doctor who found the perfect treatment that finally got me back to myself. It was the worst year of my life but it taught me many things. One was: You can never go back but you can go forward in God’s presence. Wait on the Lord. Even when you can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel, His light remains.

I have such a hard time grasping my worth in Chrsit due to what I've been through. I want to walk out his plan, I want to stay on his path, and I want to trust him as I am in a very scary place and will be the next few months. Please join me in prayer over this matter. I will continue to pray for you all and your families. Riding the storm out holding his hand is where I want to be, but learn to step out of the boat with faith. Much love in Christ to you all.

  5. On this day in 2018, the Church begins a season of spiritual preparation for the celebration of Christmas. As we enjoy the physical activities of preparation for Christmas, so, too, it is healthy to get our souls ready. In fact, which would be better to have in order on Christmas Day, our outer world or our inner world, our heart and soul? The gospel lesson read today in many churches is Luke 21:25-28, 34-36. Jesus admonishes His followers when the world is plunging into a state of confusion and despair, we must stand up and hold our heads high for our redemption is near (vs. 28). We are to cling feverishly to hope in darkened times, both our own and the world’s. Vs. 36 admonishes us to live in expectation of that redemption and to be constant in prayer as today’s reading encourages us and as we encourage one another. Thank you for the words of encouragement you spoke to each other above. It is the spirit of the Luke passage. I will pray for you, too. God be with you,

  7. I have experienced all of these problems and still do. When they get overwhelming I just say, Jesus, Jesus, over and over again. Almost instantly my mind clears and the bad thoughts go away. Without prayer I would be dead. My favorite scripture is 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. My prayers are with you.

  8. When we become Christians, the truth of God should be utmost in our thoughts as we love Him with all our mind. One way of measuring that is how often Scripture is cycling through our thoughts, leading us to praise and adoration.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Anonymous - My favorite scripture is 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!!!!!!

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

  11. Thank You Lord for my December of abundant harvest. I receive it all in the name of Jesus. For life this morning, Thank You. For taking my family back home safely, Thank You. For everything, THANK YOU FATHER!

"He redeemed us in order that the blessings given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise if the Spirit" Galatians 3:14

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of Grace and truth". John 1:14

JC family, I trust You all had a wonderful thanksgiving regardless of anything, because it was just another day to glorify and thank our Lord for the good and the bad. Kneeling in prayers for all the requests and trusting our Saviour.

The word says, 'by Faith we receive the Promise', so let's worship the King of kings, Prince of Peace and walk with Him along the paths of peace that He has given to us.

Have a blessed and fruitful day.

My dear brothers and sisters! Thank you for your sincere prayers.. My heart is fixed thank God!!! Turned out the doctor had some problems in putting in the device. It took longer. The first device wouldn't open and close properly so he removed it and replaced it and then he got it in right. But then he couldn't release the cable from it. He eventually got it loose. He said it went well and the hole is closed. Jesus was with me and I could feel all your prayers. They have to monitor me carefully now to make sure I am not bleeding or clotting. They put me on blood thinner and aspirin. They want to keep me here to make sure I'm okay but I am blessed and so thankful. And very hungry. Praise God for His great faithfulness 😊💗. Love you all!

  27. Most Loving Father, I thank You for another day of life, another day to give thanks for all of Your goodness, mercy and grace. I humble myself before You and ask not anything for myself today, but for Your Peace, strength, comfort for my sis-in-Christ whose daughter went to be home with You on Sunday. Hearing the news this morning and reading the devotion reminder of You as our Prince of Peace, is comfort in and of itself. I pray dear Lord, that You saturate this mother whose ONLY 16 year child has left this world. She is in a state of shock, sadness and fear, but You, her PRINCE of PEACE is with her. Grant her that solace, allow her to accept that peace and strength that only You can provide, ready and waiting for her to receive. I pray for the rest of the family and as the days and weeks go by, may they see the Light at the end of this dark tunnel they are in right now. Thank You for being their comforter, their strength and allowing them to walk in the path of Peace. Her joy seems to be gone now, her heart is sick within her and her grief seems beyond healing, but she may find comfort knowing that You are never going to leave nor forsaking her. Surround her with Your love as with a shield, I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

JC family, Please join me in prayer for sis Jane and her family. God bless.

  30. Jesus is our Prince of Peace amidst the stormy times of life. There is no storm that He cannot calm. There is no obstacle too big for Him to overcome. He calmly faces the angry storms of life and says, “Peace be still.” No storm can continue to rage when He takes control of it. In Christ we discover that no matter what the stormy season of our lives may be like, we can overcome them through Him. His presence reassures us that our storms do not determine or define our lives. We can face positively our storms knowing we do not face them alone. He is our Immanuel and does for us what we cannot do on our own. Things may continue to be stormy for a season, but we know that the storms do pass and on the other side of every storm there is calm, sunshine, and peace. We praise Him in the midst of the storm because we know that the victory is ours in Christ Jesus. No storm can take us away from our Lord when we let Him hold our hand in the storm

Help me to walk in Your Spirit and not in my flesh. Help me to follow Your lead along the path You have prepared for me and do not let me stray from it. Hold my hand tightly and let me share with You all the joys and pleasures of Your heart. Reveal to me what I need to know and let me be aware of Your Presence in everything, everywhere. Anoint me with the oil of Your Spirit, peace, love, and joy and let the Holy Spirit drip from me and rub off on others. I praise You Lord always. Thank You Jesus. 1. Amen! Janet, We are all weak because we are human but we also embody the Spirit of God, our constant Helper. When we are tempted to stray from the right path, His Spirit nudges us back onto the straight and narrow. Pleasing God is much more important than pleasing ourselves. We are called to be selfless instead of selfish. But what a blessing it is that our loving Father forgives our sins and lifts us up out of the messes we get ourselves into because He loves us unconditionally. His promises are reliable because He is divine and cannot lie. We can stake our whole lives on the truthfulness of His Words. Hold onto His Unchanging Hand and He will lead you dear sister to all the joy, peace, comfort He has prepared for you. The best is yet to come.

  34. A Testimony of finding Peace.
Our son Andrew ( now 47, phew!) In his late teens was studying Sociology. Part of his research involved flying out to the border of Zimbabwe and South Africa to catalog the needs ( Health, Hygiene, Electricity, running water etc) of the local tribes in several villages along the Limpopo river. Not possible to communicate with him I started having fear attacks. It got so bad that I had difficulty working, could think of nothing else but what possible danger he may be in, (from animals, croc's etc and humans- he was camping out) even thought I lifted him constantly in prayer to The Lord.
One day, walking from my office to the plant I just about froze with fear, a real panic attack, thinking of Andrew. I stopped walking. I said ' Lord, this isn't right , Andrew knows You, loves You. I trust You with him. From now on it's hands off from me, I hand him over to You. He's Your child, You will keep him safe according to Your plans and purpose for his life. Sorry for not trusting You fully, Amen. From that moment on, I had instant peace, joy even, that God would take good care of Andrew. The Prince of Peace came through. Ever since, whenever I start to worry I do the same thing, whatever it is I say 'Lord I hand this to You, You please take care of it' Peace reigns. And if the anxiety or fear returns? I simply repeat Lord I trust You, I give this situation to You.

May this help those who have difficulty getting rid of fear or anxiety.

  36. RECOVERING
Recovering is choosing. Recovering is letting go and moving on. Recovering is learning. Recovering is gathering up the fragmented pieces of our earthly life, and choosing to give them to Jesus in exchange for HIS PEACE because We need HIS PEACE each moment of our life to accomplish His purposes in our life.
Recovering is inventorying what we have left and choosing to use it with a thanking heart. Recovering is choosing to be an example of a thankful person who always chooses to say, I CAN DO ALL THINGS I NEED TO DO THROUGH CHRIST WHO GIVES ME STRENGTH. GOD IS ON MY SIDE, THY WILL BE DONE!
Dear Heavenly Father God, Thank You for bringing Your Healing Recovery into our life and creating Your Beauty in exchange for our ashes; Your Joy in exchange for our mourning; Your Praise in exchange for our heavily burdened, anxious and failing spirit, and for helping us choose to press on instead of quitting, until we find Your Healing and experience YOUR PEACE In Jesus' Name. For all of us, I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. I yield. Amen.

  37. Thanks for sharing this story, Peter. It goes right along with what I've been trying to do with keeping God on the throne versus any worry, anxiety, fear, etc. When you came to the realization of how worry/panic had taken over and had pretty much been put up on the throne, you came-to so to speak of, "hey, wait a minute!...I need God back up there and if He's there, I know Andrew will be safe!" You must have felt instant relief when that thought washed over you, Peter! I have been trying hard to do the same with things when my mind starts to worry. We have to recalculate where our minds are taking us and reprogram that God is in control!

  39. First Thursday in Advent
    (continuing from yesterday)

1Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.

3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.  (Isaiah 40:1-5 (KJV))

(Another recording of the first selection Handel’s oratorio, Messiah)

Comfort Ye, Comfort Ye, My People

"Comfort ye and Ev'ry valley" from Handel's Messiah

Where Isaiah 1-39 primarily speaks of the judgment of deportation because of the children of God’s unfaithfulness, Isaiah 40-66 is all about homecoming.  As stated in yesterday’s devotion, chapter 40 begins with the announcement of the forgiveness of sins and an end to the misery that sin brings upon the people.  That being said, Handel changes the music for vs. 3-5 to give a feeling of skipping and, in my opinion, that is exactly what the LORD wanted to convey to My people.  We are now coming home (in those days, to Jerusalem; in our time, the presence of God) and the triumphant procession is being led by the LORD.  The valleys, places in life of deep darkness (grief, heartache, depression), will be lifted up as will those who dwell in them; the mountains, those places of egotism and pride which alienate one from God, will be humbled; the crooked, those distractions that slow down one’s growth of faith will be straightened out; and the rough places, all the stumbling blocks and hindrances to faith encountered in life will be cleared away.  With the path home to God smoothed out, certainly skipping is in order.

The LORD  proclaimed through Isaiah that the LORD , God’s very self, was going to do this and it was done on a Friday outside Jerusalem on a garbage dump called Calvary.  Evil is defeated, victory is won and we can return home, both in the present moment as we continue our trek along the highway of life in faith and forever hereafter upon our arrival.

Let the candle of HOPE burn brightly on the Advent wreath.  Let the HOPE fill you so the glory of the LORD is revealed and all flesh will see it together.

    With love, Bob

  40. First Wednesday in Advent

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.  (Isaiah 40:1-5 (KJV))

Comfort Ye, Comfort Ye, My People

Messiah (Handel): "Comfort ye, my people" and "Every valley shall be exalted" (Paul Elliott)

My initial thought for today is to look at an advent hymn I don’t recall ever singing, to be open to something new (there can be wonderful things sometimes under stones we have not overturned).  The hymn is Comfort, Comfort You My People written by Johannes Olearius in the 1600’s and translated by Catherine Winkworth in the 1800’s. But in doing a search for a performance of this hymn all that came up were presentations of the beginning of the Messiah by Handel. Hmmm, my original plan became a distant second to one of the greatest compositions of music of all time.  The Bible eternally stands as the LORD’s inspired recording of His mighty works on the world’s behalf, but the Messiah gets close to that level because it is all scripture. A good Advent experience can be attending or listening to this blessing the LORD inspired through Handel.

The book of Isaiah takes a dramatic turn in chapter 40 which is where the Messiah begins.  The chosen people of God are in exile in Babylon because of their unfaithfulness to the LORD. Scholars believe there are upward to 160 years between chapter 39 and chapter 40.  Clearly a time of great misery for the people.  But what can be expected when one is unfaithful to God?  Can anything good come from not loving the LORD?  We can expect no good future when unfaithfulness is our choice in our relationship with God anymore than we could jump out of a window on the second floor and expect to land safely on the ground.  God’s laws, like the laws of science, are given for our wellbeing; the LORD has created gravity for our good as much as our LORD’s laws to love are for the unity and harmony of all creation.  But humanity’s faithfulness to loving God and all others has fallen far short of perfect and thus there is all the ill in the world.  We live in exile from peace, joy, and love.  Pretty sad?  Is there any hope?

Comfort ye, comfort ye, (a double imperative the LORD uses to make this emphatic) are the words spoken by the LORD after a long period of His silence due to His children’s misbehavior.  The second verse shows the LORD’s compassion for His people. you and me, that we have suffered long enough the consequences for failing to observe the law of love.  The compassion of our LORD is that our iniquity is pardoned.  That is a part of the HOPE for which we lit the first candle of the Advent wreath, the LORD of all is a pardoning God and we can HOPE for things to get better solely because the One who has authority over all of creation is forgiving by nature.

May you be comforted today knowing that in spite of any and all unloving behavior, the LORD has compassion for you; in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.

    To be continued…

    With love, Bob

  46. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. (Hebrews 10:12-14). I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8). Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1).

  49. Thank you for those powerful prayers for Rick. He's doing much better and the doctor said his heart is strong. My sister's husband's friend John was on dialysis for a long time. Finally got a kidney and he was doing well. Then his meds were changed. He got two infections and he is now on life support. Thank you for praying for a miracle from our amazing God to bring him back, heal his infections and kidney and give him and his wife Pam peace of mind. Trusting in God's Faithfulness. Thank You Jesus.

He is the King of Glory and His Reign is Forever. His Peace is constant no matter the circumstances. He is Sovereign and the enemy can’t touch Him. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Hallelujah!

    Ephesians 1:19-22
and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,

  52. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching, and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. (Colossians 3:15-17).

  57. Yesterday was such a blessing. And I stayed close to the Lord and felt His peace and His love. My mom was worried the visit from my middle son’s family would be too much for her. But she had a very nice time, although she did nap right through lunchtime. Being with my grands, Gabriel and Nathaniel, was just what I needed. Jesus helped me get a good lunch ready and later to guide the boys to make gingerbread. The kitchen was a mess but they were thrilled to be making cookies with Nani! They added the ingredients and loved using my measuring cups and spoons. They needed help rolling out the dough but they cut the cookies out. Of course Nathaniel’s cookies all overlapped each other because he’s only 3. When the cookies were finally on the cookie sheets, I took out red and green sprinkles and they had a ball! Gabriel wanted a piece of paper and a marker so I gave it to him. Later he handed me a little card and on the front he had drawn a large pink cross and inside he wrote: Shepherd me O God. The last time we were together he told me he loved that song and I told him I did too, and we were singing it! He has a strong faith and God gave him a beautiful voice and a beautiful heart. Their dad, Greg had told me he doesn’t believe in God but I know Gabriel’s faith will change his dad’s heart around. God will soften it because I always pray he will turn back to Jesus. My dear DIL Mayra is now taking Gabriel to church every week. I believe Greg will see the Light of Christ in them. Thank You Jesus. What a sweet boy Gabriel is! He’s six now and he’s so loving. He was trying to braid my hair with little success. He asked me to put my long hair into braids so I did. So many sweet moments. And after they went home, I gave my mom dinner and she said I was blessed to have such a lovely family. And then she said God has blessed her so much too but she wants Him to take her to Heaven so she can be with my dad. I told her only He can decide when that will happen. She said she’s tired of living. Well she’s 96 so she must be tired. We talked about Heaven and the night was sweet. After we prayed and I put her to bed, I went downstairs and did the dishes. Then I spoke to Rick. Rick He’s coming today and staying overnight. I’m so glad. My sonogram is tomorrow and I’m praying for good results. And Rick has an MRI the next day. Praying all will go well and he won’t have prostate cancer. I know the Lord will guide it all to good, so I’m resting in His unchanging peace. Praying He is answering my prayers and all our prayers. Let us be still in His presence and feel His love, light, strength, and peace. All will be well because His promises are true.
Thank You Heavenly Father for all the blessings you have given us; thank You for Your healing power and Your Grace. Thank You for loving us exactly as we are, and for answering our prayers according to Your Will and Plan. We trust You because You are Goid and Faithful. We know You stand by Your Word. Thank You for covering everyone here with Your Healing power and Peace and for answering our prayers and healing our dear ones in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

    Psalm 103:2-5
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
    Who forgives all your iniquities,
    Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

    John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
