Jesus Calling: December 29

Trust Me with every fiber of your being! What I can accomplish in and through you is proportional to how much you depend on Me. One aspect of this is the degree to which you trust Me in a crisis or major decision. Some people fail miserably here, while others are at their best in tough times. Another aspect is even more telling: the constancy of your trust in Me. People who rely on Me in the midst of adversity may forget about Me when life is flowing smoothly. Difficult times can jolt you into awareness of your need for Me, whereas smooth sailing can lull you into the stupor of self-sufficiency.
I care as much about your tiny trust-steps through daily life as about your dramatic leaps of faith. You may think that no one notices, but the One who is always beside you sees everything--and rejoices. Consistently trusting in Me is vital to flourishing in My Presence.
Psalm 40:4
English Standard Version
Blessed is the man who makes
    the Lord his trust,
who does not turn to the proud,
to those who go astray after a lie!

Psalm 56:3-4
English Standard Version
When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?

Psalm 62:8
English Standard Version
Trust in him at all times, O people;
    pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah

Isaiah 26:3-4
English Standard Version
You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
    because he trusts in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

  1. Heavenly Father, I love you, praise you and worship you. I thank you for always being there for me, in good times as well as hard times. While I am consistent in turning to you during troubled times, I am all too often, guilty of self sufficiency during the good times and often taking credit for my life going well. I pray that during these good times that I give you thanks and praise, keeping you in my heart and to remain humble in your presence.

  3. Unknown, unknown you say..."God i believe in you I talk to you I go to church I try to do right...." This IS what pleases God. Try not to see any "troubles" as God being displeased. You HAVE faith, this faith will help with trust. Your believe does please God. I pray for you this day, and each day. Amen

  4. The prophets often spoke of the glory of the Lord filling the temple. Then one day, a poor couple with a new born child entered the temple (Luke 2:22-40) to fulfill the letter of the Law concerning a first born child. And the glory of the Lord was filling the temple. The only two people recorded that noticed it were Simeon and Anna, two very devout people who held as a priority in their lives, seeking God and His will for the world. Because they each had honed their heart with prayer and worship, they picked up on the Holy Spirit’s movement. They epitomized everything our readings and scripture references call us to and as a result, when the glory of the Lord filled the temple in an unexpected way, they caught it while everyone else was oblivious to what was going on. May these two individuals model for us a spiritual posture that is our heart’s desire.

    2. #METOO! Today, one of my Bible readings was 1 Corinthians 2, which said in part... Only those who have The Holy Spirit within them can understand what The Holy Spirit means. The Spiritual person has insight into everything...Thank you Simeon and Anna for your inspiration to help shape our heart's desire.

    3. Amen! Anna had devoted her whole life to serving others and Simeon was a righteous and faithful servant of God just waiting for baby Jesus to appear so his life on earth could be complete. May we all have their hearts of fervent love and devotion.

  6. Thank You Lord for blessing me to see this last Sunday of 2019. All Praise and glory to Your Holy name.

Having been disappointed so many times by people I trusted, I find it didficult to trust anyone and as I walk with the Lord, I know He is the ONLY One that I can trust, no matter what curve ball life deals me. He deserves my trust!
When life is often hard, God is always good. His love for us is unfailing and unconditional. He is infinitely compassionate and benevolent.

God loves us so much and has obligated himself to help us through our afflictions while producing goodness from them, and handling them as he deems best. Such as granting us His peace, hope, comfort, strength and stamina, as we walk in harmony with him.

Sometimes when we experience loss, hardships, sufferings, silence from God etc..., we can raise doubts about God that may make us reluctant to trust him. Our suffering is not evidence that God is untrustworthy. It is the inevitable consequence of the sin that infects the world.

God’s promise of help, never leaving us nor forsaking us, is our trust in him during distress. However, He does not always alleviate our problems as we would like or as we expect from Him (read Isaiah 43:2), but we can rest assure that He will reduce our sufferings when we encounter them, by improving our adverse circumstances in accordance with the objectives of His plans for us.

When life is good, trust God, when life is hard, trust God. He is present with us. He knows everything about us, cares about us and He has the resources to help us. He has obligated himself to help us.

    Prov. 3:5-6 tells us to:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths".

No matter what mountain is standing before you or what dark valley you are in, TRUST HIM! 2 more days for your cross over to 2020, He has brought you thus far!

    Stay blessed.

  7. Dear Lord, thank You for directing me to this blog and "meeting" this wonderful JC Family. After reading today's devotion, I realize as a child I would tend to go to God in good, easy times, but maybe not so much in difficult times. As an a adult, I have tended to turn to God in the really tough times, but have acted more self-sufficient in the normal, day-to-day times.

With all of the hardships over the past few/several years, I have finally embraced Jesus in good times and bad and have fully realized He is always by my side helping me get through every single moment. Thank You for your patience with me, Jesus! I am human and still make errors, but I am humbled that You are there for me no matter what. Jesus, I trust in You.

I had a couple of difficult days on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day; and upon reflecting, I think it was because I expected to not feel or experience any of my worldly problems because it was a day to celebrate Jesus, and my problems kept creeping in. Thank you, Jesus, for knowing my heart each day, and for helping me realize it is okay to have my feelings. I continued to redirect my focus and feelings on the beauty of your birth, and made it through with thanksgiving. Jesus, I trust in You!

  9. As we are between Christmas and Epiphany (January 6), a.k.a. the 12 days of Christmas, the Universal Church is encouraged to keep alive the Christmas spirit; keep singing the carols, read the rest of the story, savor the wonder of the incarnation. Reading the rest of Luke is fairly easy for Mary and Joseph faithfully fulfill the religious practices and in doing so have encounters with devout people of God. Reading about Jesus birth in the rest of Matthew is very challenging; fleeing to Egypt in the middle of the night, the massacre of baby boys in Bethlehem, and the need to find safe residence for the child. These stories challenge our understanding of God, especially if one's theology makes God more like Santa Claus than the Suffering Messiah. How do we answer the questions that the rest of Matthew raises? Sometimes there are not "nice" answers to difficult questions. Maybe a rereading of the today's offering above is helpful. There are responses above from others that take a healthy spiritual posture in the face of challenging situations. A person who I find great blessings from is Jennifer Hubbard. Jennifer lost a child in the shooting at Sandy Hook School in Connecticut. She experienced the horror of the rest of the story in Matthew and she writes beautifully of the love of God. Jennifer has found an answer to the dilemmas that the hard questions bring. Keep singing brothers and sisters in Christ. It still is Christmas no matter what the circumstances of today. God be with you!

  10. God bless all of you. Your thoughts are valuable as we share our individual Joy's and mourning in the face of a good God always. The holidays leading up to glorious Christmas for our family were some of the darkest my mind can or could imagine. Evil entered our home and it was undistputably the most dramatic that God used to create the most miraculous! Glory to God! Many faithful were praying for Gods healing for my sons mind, for him to return to us. It looked hopeless at every turn...and there is where God did His finest resurrection of a life. Every prayer and tenfold more were answered, astonishing blessing! I have been praying for this miracle for 15 years! God is faithful...it was for us darkest before the dawn. So dark no one could see except God. His plan hovered above for years creating the exact circumstances that my mind could never have imagined. Let me reiterate it was not pretty it was ashes ashes ashes that God used with the mixture of our heartfelt tears and resigned complete surrender that created the hopeful beauty that God had allowed us to stand in today! Never doubt...He is hearing your every thought He is seeing every piece of your heart and he loves you more than your mind can begin to understand! Keep hanging on the blessing is always close it is always Him! Thank you Jesus. We are overjoyed and feel greatful beyond measure please Lord help me to stay in this space of worship and never forget your great love, patience, timing and ultimately perfection if I understand the circumstances or not. Increase my trust and blessings cannot help but flow abundantly! Praise God that 15 years are only a blink of an eye to He who sits in eternity.
God bless all of you in the wait for your miracles, there are miracles in the wait and Gods provision and response is eminent for He never fails like love for He is love!
I am praying for your miracles now.

  13. As our world continues to suffer from a pandemic and untrustworthy global leadership, we are gently reminded by the Creator that He is also THE ONE TRUE Father worthy of His children's trust. JC today, humbles, as one can recognize the truth of seeking His guidance in times of trouble and need, but then arrogantly believe in times of abundance and ease, that God is merely a bystander. May we always see that the challenge is to pray to the Father in each breath and listen, truly idle the mind and listen, for His words of love that will result in peace in either the mountaintops or the valleys of life. 15. Loving Father, Thankfulness, Gratefulness, Gratitude, Appreciation and Acknowledgement are not enough words to express to You from the depth of my heart, how I see and feel about You, all You've done and continuing to do for me.
But this morning, I ask Your Spirit to lead and guide me in walking the Jesus walk, thinking and talking the Jesus way and acting like Jesus. Why? So that His light in me can shine so brightly that others will glorify You and run after Him!
As we approach the end of this year, help us to examine ourselves before we cross over, and leave behind all those conscious and unconscious selfish, hateful, sinful ways and be reminded that there is no competition, hate or pride in Your Kingdom, but equal LOVE. Teach us to just keep our eyes on the Price that is, JESUS and trust and depend on You with every fiber of our being, knowing that no matter what we face in this world, we are NEVER alone! We have a Savior who cares deeply, knows us and is always with us!
Please help Your children to recognize and demonstrate true love. When we feel overwhelmed, help us to persevere. When we feel insecure, give us the strength to look out for the interests of others. Replace jealousy and pride with humility, kindness and patience, and above all, show us how to love like You’ve loved us. Thank You for a new day! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    Blessings and Peace.

  18. Advent was a time for me to reboot my hope (and that is why I was unable to post during that time). I read through Isaiah and listened to God's displeasure with the lack of love in the world, His intention on intervening, and His ultimate plan to one day make all things perfect again. I had to do some self-examination on ways I have contributed to the lack of love in the world. I needed to be reminded the incarnation was a fulfillment of His words through Isaiah to intervene in a most miraculous fashion. I saw in the incarnation and the coming of the Holy Spirit the empowerment to 'prepare the way of the Lord' through seeking justice wherever injustice is occurring in preparation for His return. My hope rebooted from preoccupation with this pandemic ending to praying 'Come Lord Jesus' so all who are oppressed by evil behavior in the world will once and for all be brought to wholeness in their life. With that reboot, I am called to live with a real hope. Today's Office of Readings, started reading from Colossians where Paul commends the believing community in Colossae for living with a true hope. Those words challenged me to now live out a real hope as I was shown in Advent.

God be with you. With love, Bob

    FAITH + GRATITUDE = REST!

✝️The Holy Spirit's Power is in my words, proving to those who hear them that the message is from God. I do this because I want your faith to stand firmly upon God, rather than on human ideas or human philosophy. Only those who have The Holy Spirit within them can understand what The Holy Spirit means. The Spiritual person has insight into everything; we Christians actually do have within us a portion of the very thoughts and mind of Christ!

    ♥🙏🙏🙏♥Dear Heavenly Father God,
Thank You for the faith in You, and gratitude for You, that allows us to rest. We are thankful that You are in control so that we can rest.

😊Would You help us discern the real cause of peace?

😊Is our peace really caused by our circumstances? Or by the way we respond to our circumstances? Or by our allowing "Thy Will Be Done"?

😊 Would You help us rest in the faith, gratitude and peace that is only possible once we take our circumstances to you AND leave them there?

😊Would You help us constantly trust You with every fiber of our being, in Smoothe Sailing, Stormy Seas and everything in between?

I ask. I seek.  I knock.  I praise. I thank. In Jesus' Name. Amen

  20. Loved reading everything from today. It's been A DAY - new tires, radiator went out, electricity in the barn went out....$$$$. My God shall supply ALL of my need according to His riches in glory. Feeling stuffy, scratchy throat. Just worn out but for all of the best reasons: daughter spending some time here, Grands playing together. All of us are on vacation and it's been daily get-togethers with just our little 'bubble.' But, tonight I will SLEEP and pray that I wake up refreshed, feeling great, able to breathe! Which, btw, is due to our weather: 50's one day, 30's the next and that's it every other day the rest of the week. That's OK - God's got this! Praying for all of you and so very thankful to read your words.

  23. Psalm 56:3-4
    English Standard Version
    3 When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
4 In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me? It says whenever am afraid not if am afraid ....its part of human condition that we go through seasons of fear and anxiety! The words I notice "I will not fear. So how do we go from being afraid to I wll not fear ....by praising His word sing those songs that have God's words saying
He is by our side -https://youtu.be/yCKZw-NcsXk , when I get afraid may I run to the word so I get reminded that God is worthy to be trusted His promises are dependable !!To get the fear down is to trust in what the Lord says in His word ! Amen

  24. I've loved this quiet morning, reading each post from years ago to current day. Proof that His Word never changes, we are still praying that we stand (and above ALL, STAND!) for His Word, Truth and praise our loving Father or bring his only begotten Son. I see deliverance all over this page and then, Audra, I saw your post about Paul (while listening to your song, Min Ahadi). I can't tell you how THANKFUL I was to read those words. Continued prayers for him.
Love and Blessings to each of you, and those either not with us or just quiet for a time. I'll be taking those "tiny trust steps," all day today and praying as I go.

  26. "Jesus I trust You". This sentence a while ago in this blog (Sarah Young's writings) was given as a 'lifeline', for when circumstances get tough. We were encouraged to repeat (out loud if possible) this sentence. I have done so many times since. It's good to affirm our trust in Him verbally daily when all is quiet and serene, for that paves the way as a first thought when trouble hits the scene. Sometimes our trust in Him must take us out the boat to walk on water, sometimes our trust in Him causes us to do the only thing we can do, that is hold on tight to Him until the storm passes. One day, the trust in Him that is developing in us will lead us Home. Glorious Thought.

    1. Excellent Peter! "Jesus I Trust in You" is a great short prayer to be prayed frequently. HIS Devine mercy, does provide when we trust in HIM during our fearful-challenging times. Thank you Jesus! Amen.

    2. Thanks dear Peter! Very true. I also have often said out loud: "I trust You Lord". He sees our trust by the way we are going forward even in fear, confusion and insecurity. We know that we do not walk alone. He is right by our sides to guide, comfort and encourage us. You worded it perfect. Hold on tight to Him until the storm passes. He is faithful to save and we are blessed that Our Mighty One can fight our battles for us and lead us through the fire.

  27. Further to 'Jesus I trust You'; I needed to get some provisions from the local store. I often get "Trust Me in all things" throughout the day. As I got dressed up for the weather, I said 'Lord, We're out of nuts to feed the squirrels' I got "Trust Me in all things". Local store had no nuts, next store no nuts either. I thought of one store further away that may have nuts, but as it's an expensive store, I don't go there often. I went there anyway, and to my surprise found a shelf full of nuts with a notice ' Marked down, all must go'. I bought the 9 bags at 1/3 the normal price. So yeah, I trust Him in all things. 🙂

  28. Dear JC Family, please pray for my friend Chris who had an aneurysm yesterday and is in the hospital on a ventilator. Her husband (who she has been caring or for the last several years through his cancer) found her lying on the floor yesterday morning. We have been friends for over 25 years and I just saw her last week at the store - so happy when I explained some SSA info for her. At the same store today, a friend stopped me and asked me to pray for her. Their youngest of two daughters is having her second child, any day now. I think about my prayers this morning and my commitment to TRUST. I am praying with all my heart or Chris and her family. Please join me, JC Prayer Warriors.

You may want to bring someone to the Omc appointment with you who can take notes or remember everything the Onc says. Oncologists sometimes use trigger words that can cause the mind to blank out.
Just a thought based on experience.
Speaking of experience. I know God is in this experience with you and He will always be here and He is staying with you. This visit, or something you value better is now in existence for you, created by a Good God just for you, and its on its way to you. So be it and so it is. God said it and we believe God is truth! 31. He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he. (Proverbs 16:20). When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. (Isaiah 43:2). Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit. It also keeps me from only connecting with Gim in times of trouble. I want my relationship to be with Him all the time, not spotty connection when all else fails. He does rejoice in our relationship with Him and that joy cannot be equaled anywhere else! Thank you God for the opportunity to be with you at ANY given time. 37. Trusting the Father begins with humility and gratitude in all circumstances. Truly challenging to live out. But Jesus as our example on the night before His death, showed His love by washing the feet of the Apostles. Humility exhibited as a testament to His love for us as Father, Son, and Spirit. Be filled with gratitude in 2024 as you think of the LOVE He has for us. Amazing grace amd love, so sweet the sound! Amen.
