Jesus Calling: December 30

I am Leading You along a way that is uniquely right for you. The closer to Me you grow, the more fully you become your true self--the one I designed you to be. Because you are one of a kind, the path you are traveling with Me diverges increasingly from that of other people. However, in My mysterious wisdom and ways, I enable you to follow this solitary path while staying in close contact with others. In fact, the more completely you devote yourself to Me, the more freely you can love people.
Marvel at the beauty of a life intertwined with My Presence. Rejoice as we journey together in intimate communion. Enjoy the adventure of finding yourself through losing yourself in Me.
2 Corinthians 5:17
English Standard Version
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Ephesians 2:10
English Standard Version
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

I John 4:7-8
English Standard Version
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

John 15:4
English Standard Version
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

  4. "Enjoy the adventure of finding yourself through losing yourself in Me." Sarah nails the journey with this simple phrasing. We can become a new person in Christ and all He asks is that you believe (i.e. have faith) He will be there all along the way.

    1. Thank you for that, dear MadFox. May God help me to leave the past and the chaff behind as I enter this new year. I am a new creature in Christ and He is molding me each day according to His own will and plan. May He guide me to “let go and let God”.

  6. Many churches will read this Sunday the incident that occurred when Jesus was twelve (Luke 2:41-52). In this story, do we not see Jesus living out the thought of today’s reading? Because He was fully human, He needed to go through the same process of spiritual maturity that each of us must seek. He needed to fully attach His heart to God and He did through prayer, worship and other spiritual exercises. In doing so, the Father was shaping Him to fulfill the role of the Messiah for which He was came. You and I have been created for a role in the process of God’s salvation of the world. We fulfill our calling in the same way Jesus did. We attach our heart to God and His will takes place on earth as in heaven.

    1. "Because He was fully human, He needed to go through the same process of spiritual maturity that each of us must seek." Not so, Jesus is God incarnate, fully man and fully God. He did not need the shaping and maturity as we do. He already had it but was willing to go through all that we go through to show us the Father's Love for us and to be the example of faith that we need. He gave up his comfort of heaven and not onlt taught us but showed us how we can trust God. His ultimate sacrifice that he freely subjected to is what we need to understand in order to trust God fully. -Your sister in Christ,

    4. 40The child [Jesus] grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.
41Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom. 43And when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, 44but supposing him to be in the group they went a day’s journey, but then they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances, 45and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him. 46After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
47And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48And when his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” 49And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” 50And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. 51And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.
52And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man. jw

    6. Bob, Your words and wisdom never fail to inspire and encourage me. Thank you for your hard work and daily bread. There is no human being in this world that can fully understand the complete and perfect nature of the Lord. May we all strive to know Him better each day, and may all our questions be answered when we look upon His Countenance in the Glory Land.

    7. 12 In the same way, we can see and understand only a little about God now, as if we were peering at His Reflection in a poor mirror; but someday we are going to see Him in Jis Completeness, Face-to-face. Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see everything clearly, just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now.

13 There are three things that remain—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

May we find God's love now! In Jesus' Name I ask. I seek. I knock. I praise. I thank. I yield. Amen.

  7. Thank you for this website. Sarah Young's book, Jesus Calling, has changed my life and taught me how to focus my attention on God by living in the moment, the Now. My book is getting tattered and I have lost a few pages and that's why I found you. I was missing the last two weeks of December. lol. Glad I did because I like reading the comments, too. This one little book, completely filled in all of the blanks regarding my faith. I was always a Christian, but did not know how to live that way. This book keeps my focus where it should be and teaches me how to walk with Jesus every day, how to be thankful in ALL situations, because his plan is always for good in the long run. It took me so long to get it right, but I know I have it right, now. I read the daily page every single morning and after about 7-8 years I still do it and most days the page seems entirely new and pertinent. Jesus speaks to me though this book. I read it closer and closer and many days, it seems as though the page was written for me personally. Many days it is the exact words I needed to hear to get me back on track or answer questions I had about a particular situation. I take Jesus literally and try and do the things he asks in the book and it has changed everything for me. Now I try and serve others first and have dropped my high expectations. I do things now, without expectations of reciprocation.

To Unknown Unknown, I'm praying for you. I know although it seems you have been left alone, you haven't. I have had to learn more patience in waiting for God to provide answers to my problems, but I've found that by showing him that trust, even when it's so hard, he rewards me with knowledge of why it was better to be still and wait. When I was made to be still and patient, I started trying to think of others that I could help, no matter how small, to get my mind off of my problems and it started paying off in dividends. There are always others who have things worse and who could always use a friend willing to help. God is pleased with your trust, and your desire to live close to him, and in time he will show it. We are all safe, in God. God Bless you.

Thanks to you all! and God Bless!

    2. This is a wonderful sharing of faith, unknown. Thank you for posting. To me, Sarah Young has been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write something that shows us again what trust looks like. The universal Church verbalizes the importance of trust but does not practice trust as much as it says it does. We are all guilty of that. I was a leader in the church for 42 years, being a part of a growing church and helping conflicted churches. I had to retire because I had lost my passion for ministry because of so much divisiveness. It tore my heart apart. Upon retirement a year and a half ago, the Spirit led me to start reading “Jesus Calling “. I quickly realized that I had not shielded my heart with trust. I had let the divisiveness get to me and it consumed me causing the loss of passion for my calling. I have not lost faith; I have lost the desire to serve. But I keep spending this quiet time in His Presence (and in the presence of all of you) for Him to work in my soul in what ever way He should choose. God be with you.

  8. One amazing aspect of this forum has been the notable (and desirable) absence of criticism. I believe the growth of this blog in participants has been due to all of us focusing on prayer requests, insights, and agreement...and all of it due to our common interest in Sarah Young's Jesus Calling. God is here each day with us! I look forward to a new year with all of you here each day. God bless!

"Unknown, sister in Christ" responding to Bob last year (2018), your opinion of this scripture or another's comments does not require refuting the opinion or insight of another believer. Yes, God came as Jesus but He also came as a baby in a manger. Many religious scholars believe that Jesus was truly human, who had to learn of His deity. How this knowledge was surpressed or how a baby would know He was God is as confusing as understanding how God can be the Trinity as Father, Son and Spirit and yet still be one God. Or how He created the universe that is so vast that it would take millions of years to visit the millions of galaxies. As C.S. Lewis wrote, if these concepts are confusing put them aside and focus on His love and grace.

So for 2020, Let us focus on the needs requested and prayed for here, our agreements in Christ, and in building the body of believers. Peace be with you. Amen

    6. I'm with CSLewis... whenever concepts are confusing, then put them aside and focus on GOD'S LOVE and GOD'S GRACE! Looking at the fullness of God's Spirit, Life and Love, and then imitating them in all our encounters would probably consume more time then we have on earth, leaving no time for Doctrinal disputes, at least not in my case! Be blessed.

  9. What a blessing it is to wake up in Your Presence, knowing that You are leading me along the way that is " uniquely right for me" and being reminded that I am "one of a kind". Thank You Father. May Your Holy Spirit keep me on this path and help me stay devoted to You with all that I am.
As the New Year approaches, may we find ourselves completely, through losing ourselves in the LORD!

"Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." - Matthew 10:39.

This deep and powerful verse explains the fate of our lives. It is the truth. Trying to find or save your flesh will cause you to lose your chances of having eternal life. Nevertheless, we will gain eternal life if we choose to lose our flesh.

JC family, I am standing in prayers with and for all of you. The same God who provided and sustained us from Jan. 1, 2019 to this day, has gone ahead of us to make a way for the next.
Blessings and Peace to all this last Monday of the year.

If the end game Win is to lose the flesh for the journey into eternal life, why do we hold on so tightly to our fleshy life in the now?
If the end game Win is to take nothing back into eternal life with us, why do we hold on so tightly to things that must be left behind?
If the end game Win is to trust God 100% for entry into eternal life, why do we spend a % of our trust time worrying in the now?
If the end game Win is to live in Peace forever with God, why do we argue and strife in the now?
Like great Winning Sports Players and Teams, should we too focus and practice what we need to Win the end game?
Lord help us. Lord save us.

  11. Welcome, Former Army Chaplain! And, Good Morning, JC Family. I am so glad that this was the first thing I read this morning before I let 'life's circumstances,' determine my outlook. The reminder that we will be loved individually and our unique needs met is a comfort. When I read, "In fact, the more completely you devote yourself to Me, the more freely you can love people." I felt myself relax. "Marvel at the beauty of a life intertwined with My Presence."
Please pray for my husband who caught 'the bug' that went through the family over the last few weeks. My Hub got sick on Friday nt. and has been struggling ever since. It is so similar to last year's events that we find ourselves 'shuddering,' at the memories, which is NOT what we need to do!
Praying that I can get him the medicine he needs without him having to go into the Dr. to be subjected to more germs (that's what happened last year) and that our new Dr. will trust what we know works.
Once again, our plans are cancelled (my poor sister and I have had to cancel twice in one week...), but thankful that I am off work and able to care for my husband. And, his sister, who is about 30 minutes away.
I will trust in the Lord and know the outcome will be the best for all of us.
Sassy Mom, I read about Lisa's results and will continue to hold her in prayer. And LCA: same with your Juan Carlos.
One of our children's songs from years ago just popped into my head, "The Lord knows the way through the wilderness - all we have to do is FOLLOW!"
Blessings to all as we wrap up this year. Maplewood, I loved your reminder, "The same God who provided and sustained us from Jan. 1, 2019 to this day, has gone ahead of us to make a way for the next." Bob, I read Luke, which you shared about in 2018. I'm so glad you are back. MadFox, I join you in focusing on the needs and requests posted here. I'm so very thankful for this site!

  23. Eternal Loving Father, Thank You for being the only One who has the answers to every Tsunami of fear quaking our hearts and soul of the unknown. May You bring peace to those storms and answers to those questions that even the wisest man can't find answers to, in our lives and circumstances. Because You are to be trusted, those who hold on and keep trusting in Your Mysterious Ways and Wisdom, will never be disappointed no matter the circumstances.
We honor and worship You who knows the deep things of our hearts. You alone have given us hope and joy for tomorrow and its from You alone that our blessings flow.
As we prepare to wrap up 2020, there are NO words to describe the immense gratitude we feel towards You for carrying us through a year with so many twists and turns! But, we've made it, we are crossing over to a new beginning, and its ONLY by Your grace and mercy and NO works of our own! For that and so many others, we say THANK YOU FATHER.
May we set ourselves aside and allow You to lead us into the unique paths You have for each of us, giving You ALL the Glory You deserve. In Jesus' name, Amen.

    Blessings and Peace.

Lingering beside the manger, contemplating the incarnation, these words caught my attention this AM: "But you must hold fast to faith, be firmly grounded and steadfast in it, unshaken in the hope promised you by the gospel you have heard..." (Colossians 1:23). The verbs specifically caught my attention; hold fast, firmly grounded and steadfast, unshaken. These are the intentions of the readings that have brought us together. This is what we strive in love to help each other to do.

  29. Dear Lord, I believe I am in a trial by fire. You are working on me and I have no idea what you have in store, but I am at the end of myself. I've never felt so lost and alone and at the same time I'm suffocating from having no time to myself. That sounds so selfish. I have real feelings and just want to make life better for others, but I need to know how to get through my days so that I can get to where I can have a chance to do that. I'm sorry for being so overwhelmed and so lost. I know many people have far worse problems they are facing and I know that I am richly blessed while I'm in this season. I understand that it seems I'm just not turning it over and then trusting you completely to handle it. If you tarry to come back Lord I need you to show me what to do. If we are being raptured soon help me to save others souls to come to you. If in any way I'm not understanding or grasping something you're trying to tell me, please open my eyes and ears to receive your direction. Thank you Lord for the relationship, even though I am so undeserving. In Jesus name I pray. Please Bless and Keep all of this JC family and please hear their prayers and mine. Thank you Lord for all that you are to us. Amen

Her husband (who she has been caring or for the last several years through his cancer) found her lying on the floor yesterday morning. We have been friends for over 25 years and I just saw her last week at the store - so happy when I explained some SSA info for her. At the same store today, a friend stopped me and asked me to pray for her. Their youngest of two daughters is having her second child, any day now. I think about my prayers this morning and my commitment to TRUST. I am praying with all my heart or Chris and her family. Please join me, JC Prayer Warriors."

  36. JC: "Because you are one of a kind, the path you are traveling with Me diverges increasingly from that of other people." Each soul sets out on its own unique journey when we are born and then mature into adulthood. We then may become rich or poor, live in freedom (or not), enjoy vigorous health (or not). God's personalized relationship with each of us allows us to be blessed on that path... especially if we ask or allow Him to lead us.

How awesome is it to have a special one on one relationship with the Creator of the universe? Jesus told us this specifically in John 15:4: "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me." As we walk towards eternity each day, let us cherish His "holding of our hand" along the way. Godspeed.

    2. Yes, MadFox, thanks for posting this. When people have asked me why believe in and pray to God, I answer, "why wouldn't I want to have a one on one relationship with the creator of the universe?" If I had an inside track to the president of the United States or the queen of England, wouldn't you think I was blessed? Unfortunately, society has become so jaded and judgemental about religion that they can't accept that this could be true. But we indeed are blessed.

Everyday we work on our faith
Everyday we look to God to sustain us, carry us, give us what we need not always what we want
    Everyday is a new beginning

  38. Wonderful, we are all so blessed to have a 1 on 1 relationship with Almighty God, through Jesus. So precious! Praying for all who mention prayer requests on this penultimate day of 2021.
Earlier this am, He spoke and said "With God all things are possible".
So to all on this JC Blog who are facing the humanly impossible, and desperately need an answer to prayer, the following is for you:
    Matthew 19: 26 NIV
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
    Genesis 18:14
Is anything too difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you-in about a year-and Sarah will have a son."
    1 Samuel 14:6
Jonathan said to the young man bearing his armor, "Come, let us cross over to the outpost of these uncircumcised men. Perhaps the LORD will work on our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD from saving, whether by many or by few."
    Job 42:2
"I know that You can do all things and that no plan of Yours can be thwarted.
    Jeremiah 32:17
"Oh, Lord GOD! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too difficult for You!
    Jeremiah 32:27
"Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too difficult for Me?
    Zechariah 8:6
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: "If this is impossible in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be impossible in My eyes?" declares the LORD of Hosts.

  57. Thank you dear Brie, Audra, JJ and ABC and all those who prayed for me! I did have a good long sleep and then I cooked alot and had a fruitful night. Back to bed in God's loving care. Hallelujah.
Amen dear JJ! He is a Promise Keeper, and we are all blessed to belong to Him. Today was a blessing and a bit of a trial but I felt secure with this good Oncologist, and I am encouraged that this treatment by Rituxin will fight any lymphoma in my body, and heal me along with God's amazing power. Don't know when the body scan, MRI, bloodwork and infustions will start but I am ready and waiting according to God's good timing and Plan. I told everyone who helped me today that Jesus was with me and I wasn't afraid. Thank You Jesus.
Goodnight dear ones, Let us all rest in Him who cares for us. Much love and gratitude.
    I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
    Psalm 4:8

    1. You spoke the truth dear JJ!!! I prayed your powerful prayer with you and I received your love and blessings. May God grant your prayers and bless and strengthen you in every way! We are more than conquerors! I am using God’s strength to care for my mother. He has stayed with me all day. I sure need Him. And He knows that well.
I loved this from today’s devotion. “In fact, the more completely you devote yourself to Me, the more freely you can love people.”

Let us continue to focus on Jesus and those things that will endure.

      2 Corinthians 4:16-18
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

      2 Corinthians 12:9-10
But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

    7. Praying with my sisters with gratitude that all will be well because God’s in charge of all of our lives and knows our hearts intimately. He knows what we need and hears all our prayers. We are His dear children and He really cares about us so let’s trust Him together to make a way even when we can’t see one. He can do all things. Thank You Father for answering our prayers and comforting, guiding, healing, and strengthening us in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

      Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

  60. Psalm 103
    1
Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
    2
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—
    3
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
    4
who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
    5
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
    6
The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
    7
He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel:
    8
The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
    9
    He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
    10
he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
    11
    For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
    12
as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
    13
    As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
    14
for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
    15
    The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field;
    16
the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.
    17
But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—
    18
with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.
    19
The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.
    20
Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.
    21
Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will.
    22
Praise the Lord, all his works everywhere in his dominion.
    Praise the Lord, my soul.
