Jesus Calling: August 13

Learn to enjoy life more. Relax, remembering that I am God with you. I crafted you with enormous capacity to know Me and enjoy My Presence. When My people wear sour faces and walk through their lives with resigned rigidity, I am displeased. When you walk through a day with childlike delight, savoring every blessing, you proclaim your trust in Me, your ever-present Shepherd. The more you focus on My Presence with you, the more fully you can enjoy life. Glorify Me through your pleasure in Me. Thus you proclaim My Presence to the watching world.
Matthew 1:23
English Standard Version

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel”

John 10:10-11
English Standard Version

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

  1. Thank you Jesus for the encouragement to "relax and enjoy life". This blessing is something I often forget as I get mired down with daily struggles. Help me to remember this is an opportunity to not only trust in you but to strengthen our relationship though your many gifts to me!

    1. Thank you for this reminder today. I need you Jesus, I don't know how anyone gets through another day without you. Here in far northern CA, the smoke from fires, or the fires themselves have us on edge. Like much of the country we are also in the midst of another heatwave. There is blaming and shaming for the spike in Covid variant. The world seems to have lost its mind and it seems to me the numbers of lost people that I know personally has escalated. Come Holy Spirit. Help us Holy Spirit. Help me to relax, enjoy my life and see as well as share instead your blessings Lord. I knock, I ask, I give thanks in Jesus's name, amen!

  2. I often close my prayers, particularly those offered in public, with the hope that God be glorified in the fulfillment of whatever I have offered in prayer. Today’s devotion makes clear to me that I have a role in that hope, to take delight in God’s presence and work in each and every moment. It has been said by a well known pastor, “God is most glorified when we are most satisfied.” It all comes back to a constant admonition throughout scripture, living in praise and thanksgiving which is and will be the essence of eternal life.

    1. Lord God, i pray for my sister in Christ and that you would help her to daily flee from thoughts which come from her heart. Change her heart O God and help her daily to guard her heart with all diligence. Help her daily to examine her thoughts and tell her thoughts to be quiet. Train her daily confess specifically to you the thoughts that she knows are negative. Thank you for your constant forgiveness. Train her daily in the reading of Your Words so that she will be Godly in all matters. Help her to avoid evil, not placing herself in situations that she knows make her more susceptible to the negative thoughts. Give her the strength each day to resist those situations and begin better habits. Thank you God for the promise of Solomon in Proverbs 21:23 that whoever guards their mouth and tongue will keep their soul from trouble. We praise You God. In your son's name we pray. Amen.

  5. Jesus says: "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." Sarah has him whisper this morning: "...focus on My Presence with you, the more fully you can enjoy life."

We should not be naive and assume that trials won't occur in life. God granting humans free will means we can choose unwise paths in life or suffer from the sins of others; BUT, He has promised his love and as a "good shepherd" laid down His life to secure us eternally. You can have joy today knowing that He is with you today and always.

It makes me think of McCartney's lyric: ๐ŸŽถ "When I find myself in times of trouble..." we know that we can smile even if today will have "trouble". Praying for peace and all here to remember His presence is with you always. Amen

    2. Dear Zfuntastic, Isaiah 43:1 “Don't fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine.” God actually commands us not to fear, or worry. The phrase “fear not” is used at least 80 times in the Bible, most likely because He knows the enemy uses fear to decrease our hope and limit our victories.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

Here's another mail I received today. Yesterday it was about the shoes of the gospel and today it is about another part of the armor, the shield.

"Using the shield of faith closes the door to the enemy. The Roman shield was big enough for a soldier to squat and hide behind. It consisted of a wooden frame covered with a thick layer of leather. Once soaked in oil, it was also fire-resistant.

Ephesians 6:16 states that we should "take the shield of faith to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one." Your shield is like a door that keeps out any burning arrows. Hiding behind the shield of faith is humbling.

God does not leave you helpless in the midst of fighting and attacks. This shield of faith needs to be impregnated with oil that symbolizes the Holy Spirit. His Spirit is with you. You can move forward with confidence on the path that God is setting for you. Take cover behind your shield."

Have a wonderful blessed day precious JC warriors!

I hear so many stories of people discovering that after they began to tithe regardless of how little they have (we included) began to experience an increase in their finances. You cannot outgive Him, He doesn't need our money. It's a matter of the heart. We need to test the Lord on this principal. We did, we never looked back. If you're already doing this don't stop. Been there. I learned, meaning I came to know through experience, that Starting with what I had then tithing 10% helped me turn the tide. Over and over and over again, I learned that I could never outgive God! When I was consistent, then my inflow was consistent. I also received and used this prayer I received from Life Study Fellowship:
Dear Lord, as I place my 10% tithe in this envelope, may it be a way for me to seek first Your Kingdom and Your Power over me. For I am asking to be close to You, to be guided by You and to always be thankful for everything I have. Thank you for allowing a share of life's good things be mine, and for letting me hold inside my heart Your Wonderful promise that You are taking good care of me. Amen

God will take Good Care of You
      Be not dismayed whate'er betide
God will take care of you

God will take care of you
God will take care of you
Through every day, o'er all the way
He will take care of you
God will take care of you
No matter what may be the test
God will take care of you
Lean, weary one, upon His breast
God will take care of you
God will take care of you
Through every day, o'er all the way
He will take care of you
God will take care of you

  19. Dear Loving Father, Thank You for causing me to once again see the beauty of Your creation today. I was created to live a life of joy in Your Presence, worship and praise You, and because You are with me always, Your grace is sufficient! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

We can enjoy life, but most importantly, enjoy it God’s way! For us to live with a God driven purpose and enjoy life, we must first put down this earthly life to gain heavenly life. This does not mean that God wants us to be miserable. The truth is that God intended for us to enjoy our lives and suffering will be part of it, because the scripture says so (Isaiah 43:2 etc.). Paul constantly reminded the early believers that suffering is going to be a part of the Christian life. Nevertheless, God’s Word offers an abundance of wisdom regarding the discovery of the joy and peace we can experience in this life. Also, part of enjoying our life the way God intended is for us to surrender our worries to Him and “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! (Philippians 4:4).There are so many other amazing scriptures that clearly tells us that God wants us to enjoy our lives abundantly with joy: John 10:10 says: “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” And Proverbs 17:22 says that “a happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing….”

We should not feel guilty about enjoying the blessings that God gives us. He is joyful and intends for us to fully enjoy His gifts. When we rely on God’s unchanging power in the midst of changes we experience in all aspects of our lives, we can trust Him to give us the encouragement and strength we need even in the midst of trials.
Let’s daily thank Him and place the seasons of our lives in His hands, immerse ourselves in the all-sufficient wonder of the God who is and glorify Him “savoring every blessing”!

Dear Father, Help us to be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, make our requests known to You (Philippians 4-6) and just enjoy this life You have given us, Your way. Thank You for the dawn of a new day and the many blessings that came with it. It Jesus name. Amen.

    Blessings and Peace!

Thank you Jesus for this holy sanctuary that you have blessed me with. Thank you Chris..thank you all. My little grandson Jairo will be a year August 17th born prematurely. It was so scary but by the grace of God and with all your prayers, a year ago, he has become a strong little rascal. He will be baptized on Saturday (delayed because of covid-19). Thank you Jesus for all you do for us; we love you.

Father, You know all the needs of my precious brothers and sisters, and their thoughts, dreams and goals. Heal their infirmities, forgive their sins, lift up their weary heads, strengthen their bodies, give them clarity of thinking, renew their spirits, give them the words they need to share, protect them from harm and illness, guide their decisions and paths, show them your faithfulness as they patiently wait on you. Wrap them up tightly in Your love and peace and give them true rest.
Thank you for all these things in the Name of Your Son, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

    1. Amen, Janet! I often think of a small child's wonderment and awh of things. That visual helps tremendously in my faith and trust in God. I remember being 5 or so and reading a book my mom had given me about God being EVERYWHERE and me being outside one day looking at the trees and wondering/believing that God was in the trees, flowers, etc. A good memory when I'm falling short in trust and faith and wanting to take things on myself vs giving them to our Heavenly Father. Thanks for sharing these verses, Janet! Sending peace and blessings, Janet, and to all! In Jesus' name, amen!

    5. Wonderful truth, Janet! Thanks! Let us humble ourselves like a child in His presence. We must trust God with an absolute childlike trust. We are all His children as the Spirit bears witness. When I feel old I remind myself that I am His child and always will be. I am so thankful that my inner child is alive and well. Let us continue to look at the wonders of God's creation through the eyes of a child, with amazement of His gifts of beauty, like a brilliant sunset, or the reflection of the sun in the ocean, or the perfect design of petals on a flower, or the deep blue of a baby's eyes. We are blessed to have eyes to see and hearts to feel gratitude. Praise Him from whom all blessings flow.
What a sweet memory NJS! God is certainly in His creations. They are His handiwork.
Dear Audra, Praying with you for the little children returning to school and also for all the teachers that God will enlighten and strengthen them and keep them safety, and protect them from sickness.

  27. “The Lord does not look at the outward appearance, but He looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).

Loving Father, I thank You that Your grace is sufficient for me, for Your power is made perfect in my weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9). Whenever I am weak, may I never hesitate to submit it all to Jesus, for His awesome power works in my submission to Him. I must believe that allowing myself to humbly depend on You who is able to align my will to Yours and strengthens me in my weaknesses. As a believer, I know my weakness also opens me up to honest and real conversation with You in prayer. I thank You Father, for a new day to do just that and glorify Your Holy name. This is my prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Some people, especially believers find it difficult to admit their weaknesses. Our weaknesses may be hidden from the clear view of others or even oursleves, but certainly not from God. He knows everything about us, our strength and our weaknesses. We must understand that our weaknesses is an opportunity for God to work powerfully in our lives because when our flesh and heart fail us, He is the strength of our heart (Psalm 73:26).
Let’s take time to reflect on those areas of our lives where we know we are weak, regardless of whatever capacity that is, and look to Jesus and ponder how He works through all of our weaknesses for His glory. Our heavenly Father does not delight in our sufferings, it is Satan who does and we must resist him.
God loves us too much and will never abandon us in our weakness. His purpose in our weaknesses is to glorify the grace and power of His only Son Jesus! This is the mean point of 2 Corn. 12:9-10. If it is God’s Will to show the perfection of His beloved Son’s power in our weakness instead of by our escape from it, He knows best, let’s trust Him!

“who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies” (Hebrews 11:33-34).

    Blessings and Peace.

    3. Just what I needed to read dear Maplewood. He is the strength in my weakness, and I have many weaknesses. God knows them all and sometimes He uses them for His own purposes. After my morning prayers with my Mom and Sis, I was a bit lazy so instead of springing out of bed, God guided me to call a handful of friends that were going through hard times. I did my best to lift them and put a little light in their days. Then I got up out of bed to eat and start my day and my prayers. So many people going through so much sickness and problems. Called a few more people and did some cooking. Went out to pray and spent some time talking to my good husband. Got to talk to two of my sons on the phone too. We're blessed they call us often to let us know what is going on. Please pray for my son Bryan who hurt his back. He's the one who lives in California. Thanks so much!
We need Him to heal us in so many ways. He wants us to take our flaws and problems and run to Him just as we are. He's always there. When I try to do too many things at once, I call His Name and He is right there to sort things out and order my steps. One thing at a time in His presence.
Amen Brie! He sure does work through our weaknesses for His glory. Praying for you dear that His Spirit will guide you to lean on your long-suffering and find the patience God offers you. You have so many things on your plate. I pray Keith is doing well and getting used to his new home and God is guiding the doctors to the best treatment. Praying your DH is doing better and you're feeling okay too. How is your brother Al doing? He must be a comfort to you and your family. You must be wearing a lot of hats right now but God will equip you for everything because you seek Him and trust in His guidance.
I can relate. When I have a lot of things to do, I must call to Him and allow His peace to flow through me, and His Hand to lead me. It isn't easy because I often sometimes try to do things myself until I realize I need Him. Then I call to Him and things go better because He is faithful. May the Spirit lead you too dear Brie.
Going to a my dear friend's son's wedding tomorrow. The bride is not a believer and it will be a secular wedding. I'll be praying the whole time that they will someday seek to know Jesus. Rest well dear ones. Goodnight.

We watched The Greatest Story Ever Told. The ending is so hard to watch but we know God the Father’s Will had to be done. His love for us was so great that He gave us His beloved Son. And Jesus loves us so much that He gave us His life so we who were dead in sin could live. He us the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He gave us the hope of salvation. And His indwelling Spirit as our Helper. We are well taken care of. I was so busy today and the Lord helped me accomplish so much! He is so faithful. Driving to Brooklyn this morning to sing for Him. 38. JC today projects "joy" as His preferred disposition for us each day. JC: "When you walk through a day with childlike delight, savoring every blessing, you proclaim your trust in Me, your ever-present Shepherd. Joy or even positivity are contagious when a child giggles with delight. While I doubt any of us as adults can have never-ending energy and joy like a child, it is this demeanor that God calls us to.

“These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.” (John 15:11) Each day then, we have a choice, to exhibit His love shown with joy... or not. Be a light-bearer, share joy in all you do today. Godspeed. Amen.

  45. Yesterday was a good day because I stayed in God’s presence and talked to my mom about Heaven and all our blessings. She spoke about my dad and how much she wants to see him in Heaven. She talked about her mom and dad and said she’s so thankful for all her blessings and her family. She walked a little outside holding my arm, just over to the neighbor’s house and she looked at the pretty flowers. She ate most of her dinner and stayed up a little late. She said she will miss me so much when Janet comes on Thursday. I told her I’ll miss her too. My weekend visits will mean a lot to both of us. These last days before I go home are precious and God is telling me to spend as much time as possible with her. We always pray together in the morning and before she goes to sleep. But sitting with her wherever she is makes her happy. God is so good. I'm blessed and thankful that He’s leading me to be a bright light to her and I’m so glad I’ll finally get to be with Rick and our children and grandchildren. What a faithful God we serve!

    Psalm 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.

  46. “Put your Praise army before the enemy.” This was the direction one of our pastors at church gave me earlier this year. She said to praise God first thing every day, thank Him for everything - even the overlooked mundane things, and then affirm Him. When we go into each day praising and thanking God, it is harder to complain. I now start my day journaling what I am thankful for and praising God for everything - even h he bad. God has us in the palm of His hand. He is in control. We need only to seek refuge in Him.

He imparted some powerful wisdom to me when he said, "Time is the most precious thing we have. And when someone gives you their time, they are giving you a great gift. Be thoughtful in how you spend your time."

And from Today's Rick Warren devotional: "When you give someone your attention and focus, it’s like you give them a piece of your life."

    1. Dear Lindy --- So thrilled to see your post. You are SO WELCOME HERE. Audra's prayer was right on. In this Kingdom Age the "Prodigal sons and daughters will come home, that season is upon us." Great anointed words, Audra!
I just come to lift you, Lindy, and your daughter up to the Throne of Grace. My Papa God, You see the struggles of Lindy's daughter
and the chains that bind her, the addiction that grips her, and the darkness that surrounds her.
In the name of Jesus, I come against the spirit of addiction that has taken hold of her life.
I declare that it has NO POWER over her because she is a Child of God, created in Your image
      and loved beyond measure.
My Papa God, break every chain of bondage in her life. Set her free from the grip of fentanyl and every substance that has held her captive. I ask you to deliver her from the streets, to place a hedge of protection around her, and to lead her to a place of safety and healing. Surround her with Your angels, My Papa, and let no harm come near her.
I pray for a Divine Encounter with You, My Papa. Open her eyes to see Your Love, her ears to hear Your Truth, and her heart to receive Your Grace. Draw her to Yourself, Papa, with cords of loving-kindness. Heal her mind, body and spirit. Restore her life and bring her to a place of complete recovery and renewal.
And Lindy, I ask My Papa God, to pour out upon your heart His Peace that passes all understanding and to strengthen you with His Power to give you endurance to keep fighting for your daughter in prayer and in faith. Comfort, Lindy.in her pain and give her the wisdom she need to navigate this difficult journey. Surround her with a community of support and remind her she is not alone in this battle.
My Papa God, I trust in Your Power and Your Goodness. I believe You are able to do exceedingly above all that we ask or think. I Declare VICTORY over addiction, Restoration of life, and the RETURN of Lindy's daughter to family and to You.
Pleading the Blood of Jesus over all. I Declare it to Be So With All Praise and Honor and Glory To The Lord, AMEN and AMEN, HALLELUJAH!!!

Thank You Father for covering Lindy with peace as she waits for You to answer our prayers, and thank You for turning her daughter’s life around and freeing her from this addiction and giving her a strength of faith so she will see You are the Answer to all her problems because You can free her from this addiction and change her life to good and guide her back to her family. Praying this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

  51. We just received the inspection report for our home we are trying to sell. We already have come down in asking price substantially. I don’t know how much it will cost to fix the many items from the report, but I am fighting and trying not to be anxious and worry. Please pray that I can surrender this to the Lord and trust Him for the outcome, it’s hard.

  52. Praying for all request, with all of you. Welcome, Lindy from OKC - I'm praying for your daughter. To "Learning To Trust," we just went through all of that in the last 6 mos, i.e. inspections, selling price, etc. It was easier for us b/c we were selling to our son and sweet DIL. Still, it's an arduous task and I will pray for you.
Love and God's Best to all of you. Always in my prayers.
